Update: Ignore this, it was working, it was delayed (duh). What threw me off was my address xx-xx-xx-xxx.pools.spcsdns.net aka sprint pcs dns .net. which wouldn't make sense if I was using Verizon? I dunno.
Sprint 3G Data Roaming (BRIAN HANSEN)

So does this make sense to anyone? I updated to 00001 prl and have been using my phone all morning. The bars are much higher but yet sprint.com says this....
Before change:
Sprint 3G Data Used
329,930KB / Unlimited
Remaining
Unlimited
Sprint 3G Data Roaming
Used
224KB / Unlimited

After change and using all morning:
Sprint 3G Data

Why would my data be coming from Sprint yet I am using .00001 prl and my bars are much higher? Oh and my phone also does show prl 00001.
Because it's the Preferred Roaming List...aka ROAMING. If you aren't roaming, you won't be using any roaming data.
I'm having the same issue. My sprint data only goes up and my roaming data just stays the same. I don't want to get booted from my contract so i was wondering why it happened to show up like that.
Usually usage information with any carrier can be a few days out of date, even more so with roaming. Sometimes roaming data won't even show up until next months bill.

You have no idea what the 00001 prl is.

Thanks. I noticed it updated last night. What threw me off what the Sprint data climbing which is usually nearly immediate when it should have been using Verizon.
Also, what threw me off was I used Overlook Fing to check my internet address and it was still showing as xx-xx-xx-xxx.pools.spcsdns.net aka sprint pcs dns .net.

I'm using the Samsung Epic and i just bought roam control...when i press roam only it goes into roam signal but there is no 3g or 1x or any data...did i do something wrong? how do i get data to work? Thanks
go to settings from the home screen and make sure you have data roaming turned on... but if I'm not mistaken, you will only ever data roam on 1x (talking from experience, not any known document or anything)

Data roaming is on... any other possible solution?
I have used this app before without a hitch. I couldn't get data to work until I picked "roam" for the data roam guard.

You may have already done this, but ensure your data network is ACTIVATED (hold down the power button and instead of selecting power off, select data network). If it is already activated, i.e. you get a 3G signal when you get a Sprint signal, then try deactivating it and reactivating it.
Btw, you are not using a 3G toggle widget of any sort are you? The ones that actually work only work about 50% of the time (buggy), so I don't use them anymore.
If all else fails, try rebooting, wait for a Sprint 3G symbol then switch to Roam.
I thought I remember from somewhere that our roaming is onto the verizon network. And that in the sprint/ verizon agreement, that sprint customers who roam on verizon are restricted to 1x.
I think this is part of why with sprints ec05, it won't show 1x, just 3g no matter what.
I'm running ACS recovery/kernel + root; and it was also true with Zedo v2.
I cannot get any data while roaming. I have installed and run roam control. I have tried all possible options under Settings/Wireless and Networks/Mobile Data and Roaming.
Anyone else?
Edit:
Problem was fixed - see post#6

Where do you live?
no seriously
The ET4G, like previous samsung phones cannot roam on the PCS band, so if whoever your roaming on is only throwing voice over the cellular band and data over PCS then you got no data.....
No one seems to care about this bug and I don't get why not.

I'm going to have to go somewhere and roam now...(I purchased Roam Control a year ago for my Moment, but I don't want to root my ET until there is an unroot method)
I ALWAYS had data while roaming with my Samsung Moment. Granted, sometimes it was slow as molasses, but I always had it!
I'm actually seriously considering turning this phone back in... With Sprint's crappy network, once you get inside a building, often the only signal you can get is a roaming cellular signal... which makes the GSII a hair more than useless.

I had this happen. I had to go under Wireless and Network then to Roaming. Uncheck all settings in Roaming guard and Roaming settings. Reboot phone then go back and check everthing under Roaming settings again. I think I had to enable the data block under roaming guard. Anyway - it finally told me I was roaming and asked for permission to connect to data. Also using Roam Control.

Thanks. That actually fixed the problem. More can roam with data.
Hello everyone!
I downloaded and installed the 01115 PRL a few months back because it is explained that it would allow proper data roaming (not just 1x). But, whenever I attempted to use Roam Control to force roam, it didn't seem that it was switching to the Verizon towers. I realize that if I were to force roam all of the time, my contract would be cancelled. But, as we are all aware, there are times and places where Sprint 3g moves like molasses in January! I want to be able to switch to Verizon data on demand--ya know--when I'm in the mood.
If I install the 00001 PRL, would this give me the ability to actually force roam, or is the problem more software related? Does anyone use the 00001 PRL and have success in this regard? Is 00001 suitable for daily use, meaning, does the Epic Touch continue to use Sprint 3G without Roam Control?

00001 or 01337 will continuously roam on Verizon.
You won't see triangle on your phone.
I've been running 01337 for a week or so and it's amazing.

What is your roaming data usage on your Sprint account page? Are you concerned that Sprint will cancel your contract?
if they cancle u then u can move to a better carrier who cares i use it always on my evo 3d for the past 2 months 5 gigs last month and about 10 gigs so far this month
Helle, I recently started roaming on sprint cause I get way better data speeds when roaming. I use the Dish Remote Access app to stream my channels. However it does not allow me to use it while I'm roaming. It gives me a message about there being a higher fee when roaming and I can only click ok and it takes me back. Is there any way around this.
Thanks in andvance.
You do realize that you get charged extra for using roaming data right? Voice is free as long as 80% of your calls are on sprint, but you'll get charged for data.

I've been roaming allot and never been charged for roaming data.
Hi guys;
I use Sprint Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G with a carrier named FreedomPop which uses Sprint CDMA network coverage.
I have only 500mb data per month then I try to manage it by preventing phone from using data when there is no WiFi.
The problem is whenever I disable Mobile Data amd 3G and 4G settings, the phone voice call connectivity fails too.
Would you please guide me what to do?

Have you tried holding down power for 2 seconds and disabling Data Network Mode from the power menu?

Yes. Disabling Data Network Mode only disables 3G network access.
Still if there would be no WiFi, 4G network begins working automatically.
If I manually disable 4G too, then there will be no phone service (calling or receiving calls) when I am not in WiFi access area.
Freedompop uses data to make phone calls, so disabling 3G and 4G will break that capability.

Thnx Aestivalis. I was thinking so but I still dont understand "why FreedomPop still advertise that users can talk 200 minutes per month!!"
Definitely 500mb data is not enough to talk 200 minutes (even with lowest quality VoIP voice settings). It is excluding the data required for 500 texts they promise!

The 200 minutes is separate from the 500MB data use, from what I understand.
