Tmo sgs2 Trident Aegis case on its way to us! - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Just spoke with trident on the phone and it looks like we have a trident case for our phones coming in "late November to early December"
Trident makes awesome cases so im excited.
As for otterbox..they told me they had plans to do att and sprint version but not yet sure on Tmo version

I Love trident cases. cant wait for them to start shipping.
thanks for the info.

nice I talked to SGP they have no plans for any of their cases yet. Just screen protectors.

I love trident cases had a cyclops on my vibrant and an aegis on my g2x but woooowwww idk about on on this phone it will be monstrous. Haha. We will see... Also when i emailed them before release of the phone they told me it would be the aegis series also on this one.

Yes i was also told today that the only one offered was the aegis

Great news. I had the Aegis for my Sensation & it was easily the best case I've ever had

i think i am buying the ballistic case for t989.
i found it on eBay, only 2 people selling it - cheapest is 27.95
search for ballistic tmobile t989 and use the exact keywords and you will see 2 listings. i think i will buy it tomorrow hopefully
i have the telus galaxy s2 which is exactly as the tmobile one

meh... trident offers as good if not better protection in a slimmer profile that looks better

that might be true however trident doesn't have a case out yet and they are known to very slow and clumsy(past experiences)
i need something to protect my phone now and i don't mind if a case is bulky, purchased mine today. offered the guy 25 bucks and automatically accepted my offer ha
i tried 23 and 24 first but got declined lol

funny you got a different answer from otter box they old me they were only going to do AT&T case not the sprint and Tmo because of different form factor

Otterbox is so preoccupied with the Iphone4s cases rigth now they dont know what day it is.... im not gonna bother with them untill that craze is over

I agree. For the moment, they could care less about galaxy s2 cases.

Hope they have the blue Aegis cases. Man these are some sharp good protection cases!!!

Anyone else getting an otterbox case for this phone!!!??

I just pre ordered my atrix 4g , and my otterbox case! I'm jizzing my pants! I can't wait to get this thing ! I hope it holds its own for at least a year!
when i get the phone, assuming i like it, i will be getting prob the mid OB case
Hate cases. I like my devices to stay thin.
I'll be getting a ghost armor kit when it comes out, and using that. I have one on my current HTC Aria, and have dropped the phone a bunch of times, no damage. Might consider doing the battery cover in 3M Di-Noc carbon fiber vinyl so the back actually has the CF look all the way to the edges.
I was going to get a OB defender but since I ordered the multimedia dock I don't want a case that is hard to take off.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Ordered... Love the big bulky bricky-ness protection it adds to the phone. I have to have a beltclip as well so seems like the perfect choice for me. I even went to the extent of getting a droid x belt holster and amzer case for my craptivate before the otterbox came out for it
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA App
I'll be getting the Defender one. I currently have the Defender for my 3GS and I love it!
Was thinking about the commuter, but will wait a while to see if I even need one. Was about 6 months before I put one on my nexus one.
I hate otterbox, they are the only company that can be twice as big and twice as much weight as the phone and still sell.
Are the Otter Box cases available at AT&T stores already? Otterbox.com just says coming soon.

Yes they are, I have my Otterbox Defender already. Bought it at att for $50. Had the same case for my cappy, love the defender cases.
I used to be an avid Otterbox Defender guy but just got tired going bulky.

oh my god wtf!!! I want my case ! my phone comes tomorrow!! Do they expect me to carry it around naked! What if I drop it? Jesus Christ!!!
I hope folks that ordered the Otterbox didn't also order the docks. Having to take that case off to use the docks is a quick way to never use the docks.
I really like Defender case with a clip. But can someone tell me how much "thickness" it adds?
Got mine but can't say I like it very much...don't know something about them just turns me off..but i got my phone yesterday and didn't want to mess it up or anything so I went down to my local att store and bought the first thing. Sucks cause now i cant return it (no returns on their accessories only exchange)

I guess none of them work with the docks? What cases do work with the docks?
Picked up my Atrix today and got the OB Defender with it. I like the heft and protection of it, honestly. The only thing I wish is that the screen protector that is part of the polycarbonate shell wasn't so prone to grease marks. Looks like crap and I've had it less than 8 hours.
I got the otterbox today. Feels good on the phone. Doesn't really feel too bulky. Actually makes the phone fit better in your hand. I usually hate otterbox, but this one is excellent

I agree. I've always made fun of my co workers with their iPhones in an Otterbox, but after trying the defender on mine I bought it. It is bulkier, but not too bad. Not looking to use docks or anything so that works out.

WTF Otterbox

There was a thread a week or 2 ago where someone emailed Otterbox about the SGII Epic Touch and they said they didn't have the phone in hand, so they didn't design the case. That being said, I'd assume it would be just a matter of time before they got in gear and put their noses to the grindstone.
So now I see they already have a case for the new iPhone 4s. Are they just going to completely overlook the SGII Epic Touch? This upsets me.

all i know is when i had my evo, the otterbox failed to deliver. everyone i know that bought the highly awaited defender case was sorely disappointed.
meanwhile, my trident cyclops case took a beating and kept going. when i finally sold my evo, it was in mint condition.
otterbox may get the job done, but trident does it cheaper and better.
Otterbox's excuse is a load of crap. Third-party accessory makers have access to prototype shells long in advance of a device's release.
Otterbox has the single most overrated cases out there. They used to have decent iPhone cases but they have gone downhill dramatically in the past year. I had all of their EVO 4G cases, the impact was crap, the commuter was OK, and the defender flat out SUCKED.

EDIT: Oh lawd some of those Trident cases look amazing! I hope they don't disappoint with the Epic Touch case. I'll buy one for sure
Otterbox took a gamble with the 4S case and it proved the smart choice. Most everyone was expectinga radically changed iphone and waited to see what to make new cases for. Otterbox's gamble paid off for them and retailers that carry their brand. Hopefully someone releases a good holster/case for the epic touch sooner rather than later! I hate carrying in the pocket. But until a better option comes out it's the safest place.

Video Review: Case-Mate Tough Case

Hey guys,
I usually post on the Int. Galaxy S II and Nexus S forums but my roommate recently picked up the Epic Touch 4G so I'm going to start with some coverage on cases for the device. The folks over at Case-Mate sent me out their Tough case for review, and I will be bringing more reviews of their cases in the coming weeks.
The Tough case is a dual layered case that offers good protection and style, although is it a little thick. You can find the full video below:
I would love to see a review of the barely there brushed aluminum case that casemate is making for the phone.

I will be getting one then!
I have the case mate tough case, its very nice, not incredibly easy to get on and off, but nice. I came from the otterbox commuter on my evo, but am very pleased with the protection the tough case offers. Best out there I think

I agree! Taking it off is easy for me, however putting it back on can sometimes be a pain.
For those who may want to purchase one, I've found a deal on it - only 25$ at Accessorygeeks:
http://www.accessorygeeks.com/case-...AMSUNG&utm_campaign=CASE&utm_content=CM017002
Don't bother. I placed an order a couple days ago and it was taking my item forever to ship. I called them and they told me the item was on backorder and they won't be receiving stock till 11/30. They didn't even bother to notify me that they were out of stock so i won't be doing business with them anymore.
Really? That kind of blows...I was hoping they'd be a good company.

I have posted some comparison shots in this review thread.
To be honest though, I didn't like the Brushed Aluminium all that much.. ended up giving it to a co-worker and ordering another TPU Matte Back Black.
Got my tough case today for Christmas. Must say that I love it. The tpu I had wasn't bad but the added protection and grip of this case is much better! Comparable to an otterbox commuter series. Not super bulky like the defender series.

Otterbox

Anyone else nervous about dropping their phone before they get something tuff enuf to protect it?? I am!! Seems like it's gonna take forever to find some in stock somewhere. Wish they made the commuter with a holster. Anyone got any other ideas that protect as well as the OB defender that has holster and looks nice 2??
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using XDA
I admit I am too. In fact, I "plan" on waiting till I can get a defender before getting the phone.
That's the plan, though once I see it in a store I may change my mind and get it then.
I bought a couple of these cases to tide us over until the otterbox cases are available.

Yep, that would be me. Mr. Nervous/Paranoid that i'm going to drop my phone before my Otterbox arrives. They do make a Commuter with a holster, it's called the Defender. As for what other cases look and protect as good as the Otterbox, try this
Incipio Silicrylic Dual Pro
http://www.incipio.com/Samsung-Gala...ualPro-Hard-Shell-Case-with-Silicone-Core.asp
I have been an Otterbox fan since first getting one for my IPT a few years ago, I've only bought Otterbox cases for my devices since but they're taking too long to come out for this phone so I had to go with Incipio and I gotta say, it seems like an equally awesome case.
Black Commuter
The Otterbox site is selling the black Commuter. I snagged one and got a tracking number. I too prefer Defenders. However, Otterbox will not ship Defenders or ANYTHING with color until LATE JULY.
I have Defenders on my Blackberries. I like how the Commuter is less bulky, However, I need a belt clip/holster. Open box; Insert SIM, SD and Battery; Apply screen protector; Install Otterbox. T minus 2 days!
My relationship with Otterbox is starting to deteriorate. It started with the Commuter only for Vibrants and the delay it took to get a Vibrant case out. As a case manufacturer, how do you not have a case ready for a super phone(GS3), that has a released intl model with the same dimensions? It proves my belief that Otterrbox is run by apple fanboys. Betcha they have warehouses full of iPhone5 cases.
I ordered an atomic green and artic white commuter series otterbox from amazon, they shipped and are scheduled to arrive 7/6 (5 days before my phone).

Powerskin has confirmed on their facebook page that they are making a case for the s3
The wait is killing me...
I keep tweeting @otterbox telling them if they don't get their defender cases out soon for the S3 they are going to lose me as a customer and I am sure countless other people sick of waiting for them to get their act together. If you talk to them, they still say they don't even have a ETA date really for release, just broad time frames that they themselves aren't even talking about, it is their distributors that are telling people the time frames of release.
It probably is a bunch of fanboys. They are so involved in getting their precious Armor case out for the iphone 4s they didn't get their act together on this mega-phone that is blowing the iPhone away.
I have the otterbox commuter. It is a very nice, high quality case. Looks awesome too.
Two cons, including the buttons are stiff as hell and it is a PITA to get on and off.
Once it's on though, it's perfect!
I'll be getting a defender ASAP and hoping I don't drop it in the mean time. I'm not normally not a case user though as my MOTO stuff has held up great without.

My commuter is in the mail should be here tomorrow or the next day. I just saw that Trident has their Aegis out and I may be switching to that soon. I had one for my Note and LOVED it.
Yeah look a little closer to the Amazon ship date. That date was originally 6/22 and they have been pushing it back more and more as the days go by. Truthfully I don't think these suppliers know when Otterbox is going to release the Defender, and talking to Otterbox I don't think they have a clue either.

Speck candyshell vs. Urban armour gear

Debating between these two cases. anyone have/ had both and and prefer one over the other?
stock. sprint sgs3
Edit.. ive read the reviews and all the threads. Just looking for dirrect comparison off the two
I have the candy shell and oh man do i love this case. Makes it feel solid and really good in your hands. I highly recommend it but i have not tried the other case. Im not afraid to drop it and when i have it has help up great!
Thanks
stock. sprint sgs3
Never had candyshell but the new versions of the uag are nice! Im really liking the new tpu material they are using.
Sent from my Galaxy S3 using neighbors wifi
I'm also looking at both of these too but I have to buy them over from the US seeing as no stores here stocking them
I owned the Candyshell and it was a good case overall. Solid, but more importantly for me was the awesome tactility the buttons had.
One problem was the black version of the Candyshell looked like crap after about a month, and that is no exaggeration. It scratched up REALLY easy...
Bugger and I wanted a black one too
I was waitting for Element to make a decent case out of those awesome materials they use but then they released a case out of TPU and I've waited far too long.
Looks like UAG it is
Did you consider the following alternative?
acase supperlegera pro dual layer case
Looks good, feel great and protects very nice. It's the one I have. Please read some reviews.
If it is between those two, I'd pick the puregear dualtek. It's 1 piece and very solid, and the white version doesn't get dirty like some white cases I've used.
i have both and the Speck crack on me for the 1st time taking it out the phone to switch to the UAG case, what a waste of money
Let me say this my uag has protected my phone from multiple drops from various heights and has handled my 270 pound friend trampling over it lol I recommend uag all day to people with gs3.

+1. Best. Case. PERIOD.
UAG is the best case I've ever owned in terms of durability to size. I've had cases that offer better protection but that extra protection came at the cost of greatly increased thickness.

As for the Speck, it was a known issue with the white ones. A couple of bad batches... if you would have contacted customer support, they would have replaced it for free.

Let me email then and see what type of reply i get but I can safely say the UAG case is the best case out so far the Galaxy S3, that case can take the beating while keeping the phone slim and
protected :good:
Its crazy that i just got my UAG case a week ago after reading reviews online but i never thought about looking here. To the OP....you make a good choice with the UAG. Hope you love yours as much as I love mine.

Like a couple of others above me, I have both the Candyshell and UAG cases (2 of the UAG, actually...black and slate blue). I loved the Candyshell and used it for about a month before it just started looking awful (I knew this would happen, though, since I'd had them on my iPhones in the past). Plus, I started getting cracks around the volume rocker and power buttons.
I decided to move to the UAG based on the glowing reviews here. I can say, without hesitation, that the UAG is the best case I've ever had on any phone, period. It will take a beating and still come out looking great and it strikes the perfect balance between protection, looks, and bulk (or lack thereof).
I can't recommend it enough. You won't be disappointed if you get one.
Love my slate blue UAG case.
