[Q] Not Recieving Voicemail help please - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey guys i installed a voicemail app (cant remember which one) on my girlfriends evo running synergy and flashed her to the new mik 2.58 now she isnt recieving any voicemails at all even if she dials her # to get to her voicemail it says she has none. ive left her at least 3. my question is, is there a *number to dial to reactivate her native voicemail?

Try *38, I think that's it.
If you go to the website for whatever third party voicemail app you used, it'll give you directions on how to deactivate their service and reactivate your default voicemail.

[Q] How can I re-enable visual voice mail?

After flipping between ROMS, I find my VVM is no longer working, nothing goes to my VVM. Even when I get voicemails, they do not show up in that app.
I did do something once when using CM6, I got a text message from that 9016 and called the number it said to retrieve it. Ever since my VVM has not been working. I am currently running Baked. Any suggestions?
I have the same problem on the Baked 1.5 rom. It tells me that I have a voicemail, but is unable to retrieve.
If it were me, I'd flash a stock rooted rom. See if voicemail works with that. If it doesn't, call customer service and tell them you are having problems with visual voice mail retrieval and if they would be so kind as to give your voice mail a full reset on their side.

Here's a few I googled and some possible fixes.
Oh, this is for the text from 9016 snafu. I don't know if it will help you.
Make sure under Call / Voicemail Settings that it displays your phone number. Otherwise I would wipe and reflash.

Lol. You will keep getting that txt. I'm not going to flame you but if you would of searched the forum you would of seen my post on vvm from yesterday or used the search feature I'm sure it would of popped up with vvm.
Anyways use the app private conversation from the market. Has a blacklist. Can do just SMS, phone call, and both SMS and phone call from a number. This is what I used.
Now go to settings and call setting, voicemail and make sure your phone number is in there if not change it. Mine was *86 so I had to change the number to mine. There ya go. Please do a little effort on searching. I use the xda app and the search always brings up roms and themes most of the time instead of what I'm looking for but I still try first and go to the forums and go through a big list.
Hope this helps.

You the man! This was the problem (for me at least). It had the option of using "carrier" or "google voice" for voicemail and neither one was checked. I'm assuming that's because the data wipe and installation of a new rom. I checked carrier and tested it out. It's now good to go.
Thanks!
Got it working =]
@martyzidek: I did search first, but I was probably overly specific and got no results from my search =[
@herbthehammer: I did just that, installed a plain rooted 2.2, and for good measure I then ran a Master Reset (##786#) since I already knew my code from trying to update the PRI. I double checked that my voicemail # was showing up correctly (thanks @dglowe343), then had my girlfriend call and leave a message. I then received 6 voicemails all at once: the one that my girlfriend just left and the 5 others that didn't show up. =]

(Q) Sprint Voicemail

I have been using Google voice for awhile now on cm6 and çm7 nightlies. I just recently flashed myns rls5 but my sprint voicemail doesn't wanna work. Everytime I get a voicemail I get an email for Google voice. How can I get this too work again? Is their a reset function or something? I don't want to use Google voice anymore.

I believe it's either *73 or *730 to disable forwarding to Google Voice.
Had the same problem. I called sprint and they fixed it on their end.

CM6.1.2 Voicemail issue didn't realize??

So I've been running CM6 since its first nightly builds and know the normal fixed to voicemail on Sprint.. changing the voicmail number to your own, using google voice, etc but now since I've rooted my sisters white evo, she brought to my attention that neither hers or my voicemail is working.. everytime someone calls, when voicemail is supposed to go thru.. it says "sorry your call can not be completed at this time, please try again" I even tried downloading the Sprint Visual Voicemail Apk and am getting the 9016 revisioning texts but when someone calls.. all they get is that same message with no option of a voicemail.. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated.. should I call sprint and have them reset my voicemail?

You didnt mention but did you call the google voice number and let it activate your number? It will call and hangup after about 2-3 seconds to verify activation. Then go online to google.com/voice and setup custom voicemail settings. Hope that helps, if not have sprint reset it but remember, your "stock"

ICS Voicemail Issue

One major problem I'm having on all ICS builds is the voicemail issue.. Visual voicemail always crashes and i have to dial out to retrieve my voicemails. Ive tried the clear data and force stop method but once you receive a new v mail the problem repeats itself. Has anyone found a solution? I refuse to use google voice..

Sprint VVM is borked in the ICS builds. I believe its a bug with the notifications. Uninstall it and use Youmail until its fixed. Youmail is a nice standalone alternative and easy to activate and deactivate.

Why all the hate with Google Voice? Im just curious. Its come in handy a few times.
Ok thanks Ill give youmail a try.. And i google voice is just to much for me.. It records your text messages and everything uploads all your info online.. It comes in handy but that's too much control. I don't need google knowing everything about me lol.

Can you use Youmail as a replacement for regular sprint voice mail?
I have elderly parents that if they can't reach me on my cell will leave me a vm instead of texting.
On CM9, if you push visual voicemail to system>app and set permissions, it'll stop it from crashing. The new problem is that it keeps retrying to "get your information" every time you open the app then.

I luv you Mail and swear by it...
Heres how to drop Sprint Visual and use You Mail...
Also gives you the number to connect the service...
Download the app to your phone ...
Its not too pricey either...
The Visual Voicemail is super accurate most of the time...

Why do you refuse to use Google voice? I set it up without integrating it with my sprint number and telling it not to be used for any calls. Then, I see it as the ultimate vvm because I can get messages on my tablet, desktop chrome browser, etc. If you don't let it have the additional functionality, it behaves pretty much the same as the stock vvm... Unless I'm way off base?

Any way to change voicemail speed dial number?

I wanted to know if there was a way to change the default speed dial number on the epic touch? I have google voicemail on my sprint phone but I want to put that on the #1 instead of the default sprint voicemail thats on there right now.
All my voice mails are going to GV with no problem but I hate having the stock sprint voice mail still available.
Is that possible?

Open dialer and check in settings. Can't think of anything else. Never changed that.

I previously had a workaround by creating a contact for my voicemail and putting a shortcut to it on my dock. Now that I've integrated my Sprint with GV, it's not necessary.
its called a voicemail hotkey.. there should be a way to program it.. i know at my work (uscc) i can check tomorrow.. our sgs2's are almost identical
