Here is some great information about rooting your Wildfire S and update the ROM with ClockworkMod.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195275

Download root.zip from root tutorial and place it on SD, also download CWM recovery from alquez topic, install recovery then install root.zip from it

Hi!!
As you have been told, you must flash a custom recovery and then the "root.zip" in order to have superuser.apk pushed so your applications can be granted superuser privileges.
Read the tutorial!! It's easy.
Good luck!!

Thanks to all of you Itz rilly appriciate that i got you guz on this issue. As somewhere i knew that what ever i do anything wid my phn, it is better to keep the phn battery at full charged.
So i'm thinking to wait for a while. Then will follow the procedure with that link terra giv. And after did that i think i can go with the change of ROM like cyanogenmod
Am i right or wrong ???
ThankS..

You need battery charged at 50% to do this
Cyanogenmod is fastest ATM.

You're right, cyanogenmod is great but camera is not working with flash, and take a look at jikantaru's ROMs, his roms are good and stable

I thought so also.

Just run gingerbreak, phone reboots then you have superuser etc, and it's rooted.

Uninstall your old rom manager because it doesnt support g2, download the new one, flash clockwork mod-select g2 as your device- wait for it to download and flash he recovery. Btw i would suggest you click fix permissions first before doing any of that

2.Do i need to do something else after geting perma root and s-off to install clockwork mod ? (still don't know what for is Engineering HBoot)
3. After instaling clockwork mod or after rooting I will stop geting official updates ?

Lots of q's
Ok
1.Clockwork mod is very safe
2.No. If you have Perma-rooted your phone you are good to go
3.After installing it you can receive OTA updates if you are using STOCK rom
but its best to not update via OTA at risk of losing root. I was already had
temp root when we got the OTA in US and I had no problem but be warned
4.The free version is fine. But its always good to buy the paid version for added benefits and to help dev out

Sometimes it takes a couple of times before recovery sticks, so if you get the red triangle just reflash the recovery again untill it sticks.

Eng. Hboot is not required to flash a custom rom, but obviously perm-root is. Im guessing you got that quote "Perm Root with hboot-eng.....is needed to flash a custom ROM (still REQUIRED for the moment)" from the CM7 Nightly thread, but there is a way to flash CWM3 without an ENG. Hboot ( it requires terminal emulator) and also the CM7 nightly rom.
Any idea how to install CM7 from stock less risky way then hboot ? How about flashing CM 6 and upgrading to 7 ?

If the HBOOT required comment was for just CWM3, then there are guides already out there (including one stickied in this forum):

Then just use CWM3 to flash CM7 like normal...

[Q] Superuser allways forcecloses and rom manager doesn't work

Hi!
I've seen some treads on this topic but couldn't find an answer (a big newbie here )
.
The problem is: I flashed a rom twice (HD revolution) and everything is fine. But now I wanted to flash to 3.0 but the rom manager doesn't work as when I try to flash clockworkmod recovery, the superuser always force closes and that's it
Can anyone help?
I am sotry but I do need more or less a step by step description (as I said a newbie )
J
Any more information to give as im just trying to figure out your next steps.....if you can flash roms you should be good to go.....try using clockword mod to fix permissions and download titanium and install busybox through the problems tab in the app.....
Of course
So, I did a root in January, then put on the Adroid Revolutions2.0.8
after a while I upgraded the 2.0.8 with 2.0.11
+ I changed the radio (again using the step by step receipe on this site) toRadio_12.35d.60.140f_26.06.03.24_M2.
The first time flashing the rom and the second time I hade no problems.
The thing is also that I downloaded a program to tell me what my root status is and it says The phone is not rooted?! Is that possible?
I thopught once you root it's rooted for always?
Should I root again?

If your using a custom rom, you already have a custom recovery, just take your battery out, when you put it bk in hold the volume down and power key, at the bootloader menu, choose recovery.

No, once rooted, you will loose root if you flash an unrooted rom, 99.9% of custom roms are rooted though, as long as you have a custom recovery you can always flash another rom.

[Q] how to root with s-off and default recovery

i have successfully s off my desire(offical gb updated) with reolutionary pre release....
i do not want to install cm recovery ...
how can i root my phone....?
the zip file for adding super user is not working with default recovery of desire ..
simply installing super user app i am not getting root permissions for apps
and via adb i am unable to remove system apps
i just want to remove couple of apps from system .....
You need a custom recovery like cwm or amonra. Why do you think you don't want this essential component?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
actually i have never experimented much with cm recovery options and never want to use or intend so.....
i just need to kick out few system apps like google maps ..............
so with out s-0n it was not working
but with s -off still unable to remove apps access denied error ( via adb )
Yes because the rom needs root, which you need custom recovery to do
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Just install CWM already! It's a very handy piece of software (nandroid back-ups etc.), even if you're not a custom ROM aficionado.

Moving to Q&A
guys how to root with out cm recovery .............?
What's your problem with cwm? Why don't you go s-off with revolutionary and then flash another recovery? You do not have to use cwm recovery. If you really want to avoid it, I would say you should ask the revolutionary team via irc. Maybe they tell how to change recovery before running their program.
i just want to remove few system apps from stock ginger bread ...........
so just tell me a way to do it ...........
what difference does it make to you whether you do or you do not have a custom recovery? Furthermore... I don't even know if flashing a superuser binary would even work on the stock gingerbread so you might not be able to root it.
reading and searching forum i came to conclusion that with s 0ff i can delete system apps .......
but still i am unble to remove system apps ..
when i try to remove apps from system permission denied error is faced ......
on further investigation came to conclusion i also need root access for removing system apps

[Q] Going mad!!

My wife is the proud owner of a htc wfs
I made the mistake of uploading it to 2.3.5 (she liked it better 2.3.3, the phone was smoother)
What do you suggest i should do for downgrade ?
I am willing to unlock the bootloader, install cwm and the then flash the stock 2.3.3 ? (am i getting this right, don't wanna screw up - divorce on the way kidding)
Advices ? (is there a simple way to do all this ?)
Unlock boot loader, take s-off, root and get recovery & get the smoothest and stablest sense 2.3.3 rom.

you can install the gaming rom which is based on android 2.3.3 after you unlock bootloader, root then cwm.
But you can leave it at 2.3.5 by flashing any 2.3.5 rom with an overclock kernel. After you overclock, you'll find out that its faster, smoother and better than the old stock 2.3.3.

Yeah. But women are very picky. Does she have to have sense? CM7 is a good bet

ok, thak you for your quick answers , i see that :
1. have to unlock bootloader (using htcdev.com)
2.install root, than cwm
3.this is bugging me , how can i install a stock version of htc 2.3.3, after root and cwm , is that even possible ?
I saw a tool that you can flash from cwm recovery and control your bootloader, the last option being supervision (activate it and then run ruu ?)
Last Bit
Step 1: Download the stock 2.3.3 Rom from here http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Marvel
Not sure which one it is but I know its now the bottom one that is the one I am running 2.3.5.
MAKE SURE IT'S A .ZIP FILE ! Since your using CWM.
Step 2: Place the .zip on to your sdcard and reboot into recovery.
turn off the phone -- take battery out -- put battery back in -- hold volume down and press power button -- then hit recovery.
Step 3: Wipe Data/Factory Reset, Wipe Cache & Wipe Dalvik (Advanced Menu)
Step 4: Flash zip from sdcard, Pick your zip file and after its finished reboot your phone and you should be fine Enjoy !!
The index has almost everything you might need to root, unlock, or whatever it is you want.
There are links there to rooting guides, as well as to ROMs - custom, overclocked, Sense or Senseless, depending on your need.
If I were you, I'd flash this one. It's Sense 2.3.5-based, but it's really fast, smooth and looks better than all the other Sense ROMs I've tried (you can also customize it by flashing some of the other options which are linked to in the ROM's thread, such as a transparent app drawer (better looking than regular Sense and no need for a replacement launcher)).
quick question, should the phone be loaded at 100% ? or the battery should be somehow calibrated ?
Better off using a custom stock rom. Much faster.

No need for the phone to be at 100%, though it is recommended, so you don't run out of battery in the middle of flashing/rooting.

Root LG Nitro HD Att ICS (Works like a Charm)

Hi Guys,
This is my 1st thread to guide you to correct resource rather as many of us have struggled to root the AtT ICS version ROMs.
I was on leaked iCS v18f installed immediately when available, struggled hard to root it.. Tsparky, Doomlord, SuperOneClick, manual root,. No go for more than a couple of months.. Found the Bin4ry root method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
Worked in 1st attempt.
Thought it should work on V20c as well,, upgraded to v20c.. rooted in 1st attempt again (no surprise there)
UI is smooth as silk and response is awesome..
Right now Rooted, no-frills CPU, ADW Launcher Ex and Network Selection Tweak by -ReaL-. (as the *#*#4636#*#* code to choose network selection is removed on V20c) THANKS A LOT..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1823399
My Phone is a like a ripe cherry for the 1st time and I am jus loving it...
Thanks to all the mods and developers..
NOTE: Confirmed working on both ICS versions V18f and v20C, single attempts, though doesnt work on Gingerbread as explained in the linked post.
Doesnt work
I tried the method provided, and i followed the instructions and no luck for me with my LG nitro, with stock ICS on it
Device detection
Make sure USB Debugging under "Development section" and Unknown Sources under "Security" are selected.
Launch the "command prompt" as Administrator. Make sure it lists your mobile phone when you run the command "stuff\adb devices" U r good to go..
If it doesn't, then the drivers are not installed properly, check in Device Manager there are no unknown devices or devices with yellow exclamation marks etc.. Make sure drivers are installed properly. The above condition should be met to root your device.
Please go through the video tutorial in the link attached for Bin4ary root method
Attn Mods
Hi MODs,
If you think this should not be as a separate thread, please merge this with any existing thread about rooting P930 with AT&T ICS
Thanks..
Works like a charm
Many thanks, it took me 5 minutes to download and root my nitro(official ICS).
I recommend making this thread as sticky thread for rooting.
It works but you don't have full root, SU and CWM can be install but when I attempt to boot into recovery, I get the boot certification error. Damn LG for subscribing to the Secure Boot fad, started by Micro$oft. I have the LG MultFlash Tool, where can I download a Stock AT&T Gingerbread firmware?
Check in one of the various unbricking threads there you will find all the files and instructions required. Good luck

once I got 10F.KDZ flashed, I ran SuperOneClick 2.3.2 to get root (make sure USB Debugging and Unknown Sources are checked and also make sure your computer has Microsoft's .NET 3.5 installed, I ran into a problem getting SuperOneClick to run without it) once rooted, I was able to side load an updated GooglePlay.apk, then downloaded ROM Manager, rebooted into recovery. I did discover that the current recovery cannot see SDCards larger than 2 Gigs, because it could not detect my 16 Gig card. So I used a 1 GIg card with CyanogenMod 10.0.0-P930.zip, did a wipe of all the partitions and Dalvik Cache. then installed CM10. After CM10 installed I flashed the AT&T baseband back into the phone using ADB. My Nitro looks awesome now. Had to download the latest gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip and flashed with ROM Manager. One last thing once CWM Recovery is flashed to your phone, to get into it manually, simply hold the volume down + power until you see the screen asking you if you want to factory reset, click the power button confirming, instead of hard reset it will load CWM Recovery.:good:
