Thats good news even though ive been playing it for months with the help of chainfire 3d. It says gamepad supported too now, mirroring this up on a Hd tv with a ps3 pad sounds like a winner. I used to plug this up to my 42" and blow away all my iphone using friends the only problem was how awkward it was to steer with the mhl, power cable and HD cable all sticking out the side of the phone.

Yeah, i never did the chainfire thing but ive owned this game for months on my motorola xoom.
Its great to have it on my phone, looks even better, very crisp and smooth!
It feels like getting a new game for free as id already pre-purchased months ago

N64oid laggy

Anybody notice that N64oid runs slightly laggy on the One X? It was smoother on my Desire HD
I'm playing Zelda on my phone, and its running very smooth.
Don't get me wrong the games work pretty much full speed but every few seconds the game will jerk and slowdown slightly, I've noticed this on both Mario 64 and Goldeneye. I shall have to try some other games too
I can confirm that games such as Mario Kart and Mario 64 have slight lag spikes, but I really have no other material to compare this to. So I can't say if performance is worse or better than, say, an SII.
Ah that's ok, I thought it was me. Must be a Tegra 3 thing, hopefully they'll fix it soon enough. Both Mario games were fine on my old Desire HD. Ah well at least the emulator works haha

I suspect the emulator isn't even multi-threaded, so there is a big room for improvement.
I hope the developer implements it, Goldeneye would be perfect with a slight speed increase
Cheers for testing anyway guys, I'm glad it wasn't just me
I don't know what you were running on your DHD, but when I had the Galaxy Nexus it would do the same thing, so I'm thinking it might have something to do with ICS. Then again, if you're playing in full screen mode and such, there are many more pixels to push when emulating as well.
Same little lags here. Strange because it ran perfectly smoothly on my Prime on ICS (video demo at my youtube channel). Runs worse than the SGSII or Galaxy Note.
On my DHD I was running virtuous affinity (gingerbread)
I am guessing its caused either by ICS or the emu being optimized for single core (most likely)

Can I ask you guys how you connect to play you N64oids? Virtual keys i guess some use but there must be a way to connect via USB or bluetooth, imagine having all that set-up via Media Link HD
Thats one thing I wanna do, play Zelda on my screen with a remote via the HTC on the TV
I use the touchscreen personally, it works ok I guess. I believe you can get a bluetooth game controller for android though or use a Wii remote

Cool, reason I ask is because it would be really cool to play N64oid and use a remote via Bluetooth or USB OTG while having Media Link connected to a nice HD TV
Its the games themselves which cause the issue remember emulation is not always 100 %
U can grab a ps3 controller and use that

must be the screen resolution which is around double that of the desire.
Sorry to break it to you guys, but I'm pretty sure it's the phone. I'm using the exact same ROMs, which run perfectly on my Prime, and my Note. That suggests it is neither the ROMs, nor the resolution. A bit baffling considering the hardware in the Prime is near identical. Others are noticing gaming performance doesn't appear to be living up to expectations, so makes me think it is something in HTCs implementation (I recall similar problems with the Sensation at release).
In relation to the gaming setup you're talking about above, it's sweet - here are some demos of me running a similar setup with other devices:
Probably ICS, many apps need configuring.
If you experience some annoying hiccups during emulation, just go to engine settings and set the maximum frame skip to 0, it's 3 by default.

Games on the GNII.

Just started playing minecraft and GTA 3. Amazing processor speed . I wasn't much of a gamer on the SG2 ... but this phone has changed it for me. Any suggestions for good games to play that will take advantage of the quadcore processor and 5.5 inch super amoled?!
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium
Im going to recommend Rayman Jungle Run, It doesn't necessary take avantage of the quad core processor but it just simply looks great and sounds phenomenal.
Another game I recommend is Beach Buggy Blitz

I've been playing Final Fantasy 3 on mine. Not the best quality graphics but still fun. Found a game earlier called Dead Trigger and its definitely an intense game that runs well on our device. They said it has optimizations for tegra 3 but on the highest quality settings I found no stutter or lag.
lets keep this thread going..i wasnt a gamer on my previous phones due to battery life but on the note i am playing games so lets keep this thread alive !!
Fifa12 runs really well on it. Xplane and F-Sim space shuttle are amazing. Has anyone noticed how sensitive the accelerometer is?

Shadowgun and the accompanying multi player beta work great! The Sims freeplay as well. The entire asphalt series, star/pocket/other legends, order and chaos, and quite a few others work amazingly with this exynos.

Personally game wise I would suggest playing with some emulators. FPSE on the market is an awesome PSX emulator. Also if you go onto slideme market you can find n64oid which runs a treat on the note 2.

Some emulators bring their own methods for acquiring roms, others you have to get them from a third party source. I prefer the latter, they are easier to find and more accessible

Just to cool your expectations, you will not really be able to play games using the HDMI out I thought I would do the same. The video out is a processed clone, though, meaning 1/3rd to 1/2 second delay before it gets to your TV (plus whatever your TV settings add). Requires you to turn off overscan as well. Also, it forces an upscale to 1080p 30. Aside from not being very smooth this scaling slows the device a lot; games that run flawlessly without HDMI connected turn into slideshows even on the device. All said and done, it is cool for watching movies but not for much else, even browsing is painfully unresponsive.
I saw a video of NOVA3 and that looked really good. Ive played Dead Trigger as well. Black Ops Zombies is out on Android too. Then of course Plants vs Zombies and Peggle are always great.
Love wargames and ski safari
I wasn't much of a gamer on my Nexus S 4G, but as with most people, this phone's changed that for me. I've been playing Final Fantasy 3 the most, followed by a few simple games like Cut the Rope and Dice with Friends, then of course there's the emulators. I find it incredibly ironic that I can use FPse on this phone to play Spyro better than I could play it on the Playstation Vita(considering Spyro STILL hasn't been released)
FPse runs like a dream on this thing, same with n64oid. Last time I really messed around with emulators was back when I first got my NS4G, they've come quite a way since then. I'm still not too keen on using the on screen keys, but I bought an iControlPad 2 off Kickstarter, so hopefully they'll have those built soon and I'll be able to use that.
I found that a few games don't seem to work with the GN2, 3 that come to mind are Plants vs Zombies, Peggle, and Asphalt 6. I just upgraded from Asphalt 6 to 7 in order to solve that problem, but it's unfortunate that PvZ and Peggle don't work...

How do PvZ and Peggle not work??? Are they completely incompatible? Or do they just look really stretched?
I highly recommend the bards tale. It was a huge hit on the xbox but I never had one. You owe it to yourself to try this game. At 2.99 this game is a steal.
Also since it isn't a fps the tv out might work better. I don't have a cable or dock yet so I haven't tried it.

Got a chance to play Shadowgun on my 70" TV with PS3 controller tethered. There is virtually NO lag whatsoever. Not sure where you get you specs for video out or what type of MHL adapter you are using. You may have alot of TV post processing turned on.
I bought a generic MHL for $10 on ebay and it works fine. But DO NOT buy the claimed OEM adapter on ebay that is in a samsung branded box and have a sticker taped on for the model. The fake adapter even says SAMSUNG on it but is counterfeit. Got my $15 back on that through buyer protection.
Here is a short clip of me playing.

Got mine today, really dissapointed so far. Awful screen, laggy as hell, poor button placement.
Tried it with dead trigger, didn't work all that well.
On top of that it has stuck green pixel near the middle, since the resolution is quite low it sticks out a lot ;(
The only good thing I've seen so far is the mapping software, it's buggy but very intuitive.
I've had it since the 19th, I got it purely for emulators.
The SNES and Genesis are perfect, the N64 is full speed but there's some rendering issues, the PS1 it plays but you can tell it's struggling.
The buttons are awesome and the mapping tool works fine, apparently there's going to be an update soon, but I haven't notice a problem.
Overall I really like it, plying games with the buttons is a million times easier than thumbling round a touch screen.

[Q] Push it to the limit?

I get to play with all kinds of fun devices at my shop activating GS3's HTC Rezound's Moto Razr's Galaxy Nexus and many others to pre-paid services like CricKet and PagePlus and GoSmart every day. So imagine my surprise when my boss GAVE me a brand-new boxed 32gb VZW GNex and said "Do what you need to do, here's the activation details. Keep it. I have 4 more for you to work on when your done."
Now I've been all over the spectrum when it comes to Androids. LG Ally, Motorola Milestone, DroidX, Nexus S 4G, Droid 2, HTC Evo and more recently the Evo Shift just to name a few. But I have NEVER owned so much power in a device, even compared to the other phones I get to play with on a daily basis, than this Galaxy Nexus!
It is running BEAUTIFULLY on Slimbean 4.2.2 for Toro+. I can't get people to stop playing with it especially my girlfriend >_<.
So here's my dilemma. With so much power...what do I do with it? Looking at some of the other devices you can tell that I may have felt quite left out of the circle when it comes to running high-performance gaming and apps without using something like Chainfire3d, and then having to compensate with slow performance and cut down graphics.
My current library of games installed on my device ATM are Dead Space, Beat Hazard Ultra and Peggle. I have a few emulators as well, and with the huge screen and multitouch I don't appear to have much trouble playing whatever I want. Problem is, what else is there that could fancy my interest? I've looked through the Play Store and found some stuff to look into but it seems like I'm really wasting the use of all this high-end tech. Could anyone issue some insight on what I can do to REALLY show off what this phone can do? Like I want to push this thing as far as it can go! I'm a nerd to the max so don't be afraid of offering any other kinds of customizations or tweaks I can play with too. I've got a clean record so far with not breaking anything fancy :highfive:
Mass effect infiltrator, GTA, GTA vice city, real racing are some really good ones

haha havent played a GTA game in so long will most likely have to snag that one.
i like racing games and Real Racing looks pretty nice
Never played a Mass Effect game, even though i have ME2 on my pc just never fired it up after 1.5 months of owning it lol. will look as well
i also checked out Shadowgun and Gun Bros. 2 but didnt really seem too impressed with Gun Bros visuals. Shadowgun is ok. reminds me of Gears of War which i love
other mentions in case anyone is interested:
Modern Combat games - meh i have CoD on my laptop
CoD Black Ops Zombies - ^
Nova series - much more fun than Modern Combat
Galaxy on Fire 2 - GORGEOUS! looks the best over any other phone ive owned and sooooooo fluid and smooth
Trials series - nothing fancy visually but nice mix of entertainment and frustration
Into the Dead - again, simple visually but pretty fun for a good 10 minutes at a time
Offroad Legends - very similar to Trials...BUT WITH TRUCKS!
Iron Man 3 - looks good, but is it any fun? (the game...the movie was meh)
Asphalt series - look really good but cars handle like ass sometimes
Need for Speed series - much more could have been put into them as a phone version. really should have been more direct ports.
thats all ive had to look at since my initial post, but guys keep this going we should be able to find the real gems somewhere!

Best thing to do is to unlock your phone and install the GE rom on it - sense rom and HTC have throttled the One so if the game is graphics intense it just drops the framerates!!!
Get moga pro, custom rom, modern combat 4 and multiplayer - oh my its like a console in your hands!!! amazing experience - since i did this i have not touched my 360!!!
Looks awesome, thanks. I have REALLY been wanting one but my newlywed budget can't handle the extra $50 right now lol.
Moga Pro improves on all the quirks of the original. I'm hoping they do a giveaway like they did with the Moga's. Not even a month after they announced the Moga they gave away hundreds of them for free with MC4 and Sonic as well.
I seem to have a lot of problems with the moga pro aiming etc on modern combat 4 it goes from to sensitive to not responsive enough. So the sensitivity in multiplayer sucks but with auto aim this makes the game bad ass. I wish all games were compatible with it.

You don't need a GE ROM to fix the thermal throttling. Just install ElementalX. It has its own custom thermal controls. I can game as much as I want with no slowdowns without giving up Sense.

I had the pocket one (the first one), and absolutely loved it. I mostly only used it for my SNES emulator, never really liked it with the bigger games. The pocket one worked great so I have no doubt that this one is just as good.

No, mine was definitely NOVA 3. Bizarre. Ah well. Are you rooted?
Just got the moga. It is an awesome accessory for gaming. So far I have tried 5 supported titles and they work amazingly well with this controller.
My only gripe is the built in phone clip is a tad too narrow if my device is in my otter box defender, or more importantly while I am using my mophie. I have to use the tablet stand when using my mophie.
Also, in case anyone was wondering I am using the GE ROM so I have not tried this on stock sense.

And I redeemed using a Nexus 7 (my Nexus 10 wasn't compatible either, strangely) and sideloaded. Good game it seems, but hard to see on the One.

I can get my mophie to fit on it but it is not tight. I have to be careful so it doesn't slide out. That's a bummer for me because some of these games are a major battery drain.
