Widget Syncing - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

how often do Widgets Sync? do they sync every time you view a screen with a particular widget? I know if you disable auto sync they will not automatically sync (ex weather widget).
anyone know how often the calengoo task widget syncs?
thanks

Widgets that aren't tied to the settings/accounts in "Accounts & Sync" will update according to how the app is set up. This means all of your user apps and some of your system apps sync on their own schedule. Most apps have a setting for how often the widget updates. Widgets do drain more battery than not having them, but how much battery they drain depends on their update settings. A widget that is set up to update every 12 hours or more will generally drain less than a widget that's set to update every 15 minutes (like social networking apps).
Check the individual app's settings to configure the duration. If there's not a setting to change how often, you can always contact the developer and ask for the option to be added.

How can I configure the Desire to manually Refresh Contact Sync?

I can see how to Manually Refresh the Calendar (Menu --> Refresh in the Calendar App) and Facebook feeds but cannot see the option to Manually Refresh Facebook Contacts and Google Contacts.
Where is this? Thanks
You can do Google contacts via...
Settings -> Accounts & Sync -> Manage Accounts, Google -> Sync Contacts
I'm not sure if you can do Facebook contacts that way too though, as I don't use Facebook.
Thanks but that's how you do it automatically.
You have to mess around enabling and then disabling it again. The Sync button cannot be used unless you enable (tick) it but by doing so, you're also enabling the Automatic Sync. Yes it also works for Facebook Contacts but the same rule applies.
I'm not sure there's an option like the one for the calendar, but if you're concerned about how often this is happening, and want to only allow updates on demand, one option would be to use the "Power Control" widget and you could then control them all with one click on, or off.
Probably not quite what you're after, but the best compromise I can think of at the moment!
Maybe someone else will have a better idea...
Thanks. I'll have a look. What does the half moon with antenna coming out of it button do? On this widget.
That switches the GPS on or off.
Ah. Thanks.

Google Calendar sync frequency

Hi,
Is there a way to check / adjust the Google Calendar sync frequency on the Desire ? My Gmail and contacts are updated when changed, but calendar not directly ..... The checkbox for calendar sync is check, so that is not the problem
I'm interested in finding out how to do this as well...
Do you have Advanced Task Killer running with Auto Kill on? Try turning off auto kill...
Did anybody ever figure out how to do this?
When I delete appointments from my MS Exchange calendar on my PC they are still visible for several hours before being removed from my Desire's calendar.

Weather app

Can somebody help please, my weather app never seems to update, it always says no weather data available but it has my location at the bottom, then when I unlock it says 'to see current weather, tap to turn on auto sync' yet it it set to 3hr intervals. When I click tap to sync now it works
To check it is setup correctly, go to Settings > Accounts & sync > Weather. Make sure that both tick boxes are selected and choose the update schedule you want (I use 1 hour).
(Optional) In addition to this, go to the weather application, open the menu and select 'settings'. Ensure that the following are selected:
- Update when opened
- Scheduled sync
- Update schedule (is set to the frequency you set earlier)
- Temperature scale is set to your preference (F/C)
- Sound effects (if you want them - I hate them)
- My current location (if you want your location to be refreshed when you unlock the phone - uses a little bit of data but very little - it also takes a few moments to update after you unlock)
Do you need to have auto sync enabled as I don't like this on (due to battery usage etc)

When autosync is completely disabled, how should weather sync automatically and get data to show in widget
LG, Helmut
Because I want weather to update but not the other 20 apps lol, I presumed that because I still had it ticked it would

So activate autosync and deactivate other apps.
deactivate autosync will sync nothing

[Q] Wakelock, BBS reports Calendar and Clock

My latest Better Battery Stats dump is at https://www.dropbox.com/sh/zhx27wqvdmljoum/ODN1UNs0Lo
After following the advice in the BBS thread, I've disable the locations services and sorted out GSF and maps that were causing wakelocks. However, in all reports the same things are persistent:
AlarmReceiver (com.sec.android.app.clockpackage.Clock) -- Was suggested that this maybe alarms in my clock or calendar, but I have no alarms set in either.
com.android.providers.calendar (): Wakeups: 273 is very high I'm told, and was advised to check that auto-sync is disabled for all your calendars and auto-update of any calendar app/widget. The problem is, I can't see anywhere where I would disable autosync in the stock Calendar app.
AllShare and Google+ are using my internet connection a lot, so I turned off Allshare (I don't use it), but I'm not even logged in to Google+. If I open the app it asks which account I want to use, so what else can I do with it?
TLDR:
How do I disable autosync in stock calendar app
Why is com.sec.android.app.clockpackage.Clock keeping my phone awake
How do I stop Google+ from accessing internet when it's not even logged in
If you shut auto sync off most of that will go away. Also if you have social media apps like Facebook, instagram those are killers on your battery. I recommend an app called greenify you can get it in play store. It will hibernate all those apps running in the background of your device.

Calendar app not syncing with tasks

Hi
My calender app suddenly stopped showing tasks i create in stock tasks app.
I need this to see upcoming tasks on calender widget.
It works about 15 mins after factory reset than it's gone.
I'm on ARHD 34.0.
Anyone?
I have the same problem after update to Lolipop.
Any solution? We need this to see upcoming tasks on calender's widget.
This happened after android 5 update.
As i said it works for while than tasks suddenly vanish away.
I've also checked every sync option on the list.
Weird :S
I do not know how it works. It was visible (Zadanie=Task) and I even added two Test task. After 5 min this functionality is not visible. Can somebody help?
I give up. I've tried everything.
Instal Sunrise Calendar https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=am.sunrise.android.calendar
It's not syncing with google too and its widget is too big.
