Hey guys.
A while ago I`ve rooted my hTC Desire and did an S-OFF, to be able to install custom ROMs.
I`ve "tested" a few custom ROMs, but none of them seemed to be stable.
Currently I`m on SuperNova_Classic_2.0.2.0 with built in Data2SD (iData2SD)(the idea is to have a stable rooted ROM, with DATA2SD and Sense), but every time I flash the rom, then install my fav apps, the phone keeps freezing at certain points, sometimes it runs OK for a week - with no freezing - other times it freezes in the first couple of days after ROM flash. I`ve tried not to install that many apps, but I`m still facing this freeze problem.
Has anyone experienced this before?
Here are the steps I took for ROM flashing
1. Created a 1GB ext4 partition on SD-CARD, preceded by a FAT32 partition(as required in the tutorial of Supernova)
2. Rebooted into Recovery - wiped data/factory reset; wiped cache partition; wiped Dalvik Cache
3. Installed the ROM zip file from SD-CARD; on first boot, except for the Wi-Fi connection, I haven`t touched anything(google accounts etc. - skipped all steps - ), waited for the system to stabilyze, then did a normal reboot in order for the DATA2SD function to work. After next reboot, DATA2SD was working properly(I even had the pink LED light up), Storage Information was showing the 1GB ext partition as an internal memory.
4. Installed all my apps, configured phone, widgets etc.
This way, at a certain point, the phone simply freezes, have to remove the battery to be able to use it again.
Here are my phone specs:
Bravo PVT1 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.93.1002
MICROP-031d
TOUCH PANel-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.17.05.23
ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.0
Transcend class 4 - 16GB microSD card
I`ve searched and searched on xda-developers, but haven`t found an answer for my problem, yet.
What am I doing wrong here?
Any help would be DEEPLY appreciated !!!
This is no help to you.... but I'm having exactly the same issue.
Sometimes it freezes when starting a game, but most of the time it won't unlock(ie phone unresponsive when I try to wake it).
This is not ROM related as it happened on several different Roms, with a full wipe between. I'm not overclocking.
The only things I can think of are:
-Partially corrupt ext partition on SD.
-failing hardware.
-some other sw issue ie radio(which has worked for a while before this started happening).
Thanks for your reply, Shaun - it does help, at least now I`m not alone in this
You`re right, it`t not ROM related, I`ve tried different ROMs myself, same problem.
I`ve also tried another SD CARD (class 2).
I don`t think it`s the radio, I have the latest version, the version required on Supernova tutorial for best compliance.
I really don`t want to believe that it`s a hardware fault, as I didn`t overclock either and always read/followed the exact right/official steps in root-ing/flashing ROMs.
I`ve reinstalled Supernova now, with absolutely no additional installation of fav apps. Going on 2 days with no freezeing, so far.
I`ll keep post-ing if any new developments occur.
Cheers.
You've not installed any apps at all? hmmm.
When you do re-install your apps(I assume from Titanium backup?), it'd be interesting to see if it starts freezing again.
This would then suggest either a dodgy app that we both have, or titanium backup itself causing the issue.

I'm using the same card that i've had for the last 18 months-
it's an 8gb class 2 card with 768mb partition, the rest is Fat32.
I`ve started reinstalling some of the apps, the most important ones, like iGo, YahooMessenger, YahooMail, etc., but didn`t use Titanium Backup, installed them manually using Market.
So far, so good, no freezing.
My SD CARD specs: Transcend Class 4 - 16GB; 1GB ext2 partition for apps, and the rest is FAT32.

I could be wrong, but from what I`ve seen so far, I would recommend NOT to use widgets that require superuser permissions. Also, before flashing any pre-rooted ROM, be sure to turn "Signature verification" OFF, in the phone`s "Recovery" screen options. If your ROM has any kind of "Data2SD" scripts integrated, after flashing ROM - at first boot, DO NOT configure anything (google account, sync, etc.), DO NOT download/install any apps yet, ONLY enter the Wi-Fi settings(if that is the case); leave the system to stabylize, then do a normal reboot(if the ROM supports "Fast boot" - turn it OFF before rebooting). At second normal boot, the DATA2SD scripts should kick in ( u should see the phone`s notification LED turn to: pink or blue - depending on the script used by the ROM).
A class 2 is a definite no no for Data2sd IMHO. Class 4 is debatable. I had a bit of lag with an older version of data2sd on a class 4. It may be better now, Depends what speed the card writes at really. If its minimum for class (4 MB/s) that could be a bit touch and go. EXT 4 would be the best option for the 2nd partition
I recommend using an a2sd+ solution temporarily to see if the freezes go away
I would mind the lag, I didn`t get any lag using my card though, but just saying, would mind if it would be laggy, the real problem is the constant freezing I`ve had.
If it`ll freeze again, I think I`ll go back to stock Froyo, use Apps2SD and install only the bare minimum.
U know, another thing I never quite understood, I think hTC makes one of the best smartphones on the market, but they limit their possibilites with small batteries and very little internal storage space. What`s up with that?

I'm not using Data2SD. I'm using A2sd+. Same partition that I used on my Hero, and now my Desire for the last 14 months. Still getting freezes.
I don't think it's a speed issue.
a2sd should be fine on a class 2. What a2sd solution is it? Did you move dalvik too?
Its just a logical approach thats needed.
1) Eliminate the SD card by not running from it.
2) Change the rom
3) RUU
If after all that it still freezes, sounds like HW....

Yeah that's pretty much what I was thinking.
I'm currently on InsertCoin with A2SD+. I was on LeeDroid, then RunnyMede before that with the same issue. I did a full wipe when swapping Roms. Not sure about Dalvik- if it's done in the Rom then yes, otherwise I haven't consciously moved it.
1) I might try a different SD that i have lying around- Nandroid it etc.
2) As above, already done that.
3) Last resort. Although a rooted RUU wouldn't be a massive issue for a day or 2.
If it's HW, I better get some insurance.
Edited to add: my SD card is actually a class 4. SD card tests suggests read speeds of 19-20mb/s and write speeds of 7-9mb/s.
Fixed my issue. It's the Kernel. Apparently the latest 2 kernels have the ability to undervoltage when not in use. Unfortunately, this can also cause the lockups i've(and possibly you've) been experiencing.
The last kernel without this in is: 2.6.35.14_110911.
This has 100% solved my issue and I recommended flashing it if you still having the same issue.
Great.
If I get another freeze, I`ll flash the 2.6.35.14_110911 kernel u`ve recommended.
Thanks a lot, dude.

If it`s not too much to ask, could you possibly post a download link for that kernel version?

Did you flash the kernel while on existing ROM, or did you reflash de ROM as well?
And what ROM are u using with this kernel?
try using the earlier versions of super nova and data2sd, I also had the freezing problem but that was AFTER I upgraded to the newest version of supernova and data2sd
I`m using the 2.0.2.0 version, not the latest 2.4.0.0.
Earlier than 2.0.2.0?

Flashed straight over the top. Insertcoin ROM.
Use the latest Supernova and see. It has a pretty good kernel.

Hello everyone,
I just got myself a new HTC Desire with Vodafone Branding.
HBOOT : 0.800
Software number: 1.19.161.5 (I believe this should be Android 2.1)
Kernel version : 2.6.29-b7e82785 (I guess this is still HTC original)
I wanna root my phone and if I guess that I can do further, I am also thinking of using another rom.
My main concern is that the internal memory can not fit any more apps and I still want to add more, after searching in the internet I found out that I need to root and/or to use other rom.
Second concern...I just wanna learn..
I have downloaded Unrevoked3 and the H-Boot USB driver.
From what I have read, I am all set for rooting (gonna do this tomorrow evening after work and after I have calmed down a bit, I am a bit nervous cause this is my first time ).
I have removed the HTCsync but still keeping the drivers.
I also know that I will need ClockworkMod. Make EXT2/3/4 partition with at least 512MB (I would like to make it 1gb) and optional SWAP (perhaps I will make it 256mb, do I really need SWAP?).
So, please teach me on :
1. Now about the rom, I need an Android 2.2 with optimum stability and speed, to tell you the fact, I don't even now which one and where to get it.
2. Beside the main rom, do I need also the camera and radio rom to get them running? again where to get them? How do I install them? The same way as installing the main rom (from HBOOT recovery)? Before or after installing the main rom?
3. How to make the back up of my current rom, setting, and apps? I don't have much apps yet but perhaps I would need the backup if something went wrong.
I still a whole bunch of questions but I guess those will do for now.
Please be kind and help me one this one pleaassssseeeeeeeee...
Anyway...thanks in advance.
Read in development.

1. This thread has all the rom's in it. It's all about personal taste but if you like sense i would recommend Leedroid to start with.
2. When you come form 2.1 you will need to upgrade your Radio, if you OTA upgrade to 2.2 before rooting you do not have to update your radio but you can. A link to the radio thread is also in the above link.
3.
Once you are rooted with unrevoked you can preform a nandroid form recovery or you can download Rom Manager from the market and backup via that.
If you just want to backup apps you can use titanium backup or you could sync your apps with appbrain and reinstall them.
About the ext partition, i think swap is not necessary and if you want a 1 gig partition use Gparted
Thank you very much for the answer.
I will look into those first.
If I found any trouble, I will ask you guys again.
Thank you again.
First, I wanna say thank you again.
I have read some review about the LeeDroid. It sounds very good.
I will pick LeeDroid as my first after market rom.
I will thus flash (.zip files are already downloaded in the PC) :
Leedroid 2.2e
Latest Radio ROM; 32.48.00.32U_5.11.05.27
LeeDroid 2.2e Kernel Boot Fix (Just to be sure, because I don't how my desires proc can be OCed)
DSP Manager.
My last questions:
- Is there any particular order which rom I should flash first?
Example : LeeDroid - Radio - Kernel Fix - DSP manager
-Can I flash them all with only 1 reboot (flash everything and choose reboot only once in H-Boot recovery menu)? or Do I have to flash only one at a time, reboot, and flash the next one and reboot again?
I'm not sure about radio's.
But if you flash leedroid 2.2e you need to flash it and after it (without reboot) flash the bootfix kernel.
Addons and theme's should be flash after the first full boot.
that is the correct order
you must flash the rom first, reboot, then flash the rest all in one go. REMEBER the first reboot is important!!
Got it!
Radio (I need the radio rom cause my radio rom is old, belongs to original 2.1) , Leedroid main rom and Kernel Fix in one go, then 1st reboot.
And then the other addons in one go.
and of course reboot again.
Thanks a lot guys!

lots of things came up to me this weekend, I am not able to flash my Desire.
Since I am doing this for the first time, I would like to have a quite time for myself alone, so that I am calm during the flashing just in case if something went wrong.
well...I will do it (I hope) on next friday evening...
I will write again the progress next week.
Untill now all I have done is the rooting via Unrevoked3, and installing the rom manager from android market. I haven'T even formatted the sd card.
Thanks again.
OK, Go to hell with quiteness.
I can not wait hehehehe just to anxious to start flashing.
and.....
I did it...it works...
Thank you
Flashing is not that hard...hehehehe...
I have played with LeeDroid and I have to say...This can do a lot more than the original.
Hmmm...I a fan of Sense although some say it slows down the phone.
I have tried the HTC HD ROM on my Desire, I like the new sense but too bad the camera still doesn't work. I have to go back to LeeDroid just because of the camera problem.
|OP|,
I joined this forum because I am a newbie just like you (before you got your Jedi-Flashing Wings).
I too have a HTC Desire running Android 2.2 (Kernel 2.6.32.15). I have exactly the same problem as you had - I've run out of room for apps on internal memory and the standard Froyo apps2sd thing can't shift anything else to the SD card.
I'm really interested to learn how your phone handles apps now. Does your phone think it has 1 gig of internal memory? Are you able to shift every app to the SD card? Did you have to give up your HTC apps and widgets?
I would really appreciate any feedback.
Cheers!
Yup...limited room for installing apps is my main or perhaps my only reason of flashing my desire with modified rom.
- About the 1GB thing, well I didn't do it since I wanna try the flashing procedure just as it is described in youtube desire rom flashing guide (not confident enough to do it all alone), and it is shown in youtube using only 512MB
But, I will try it later (planned on december after I finish my university assignment).
-Well, I have flashed and used it only for about a day or two, so I am still not 100% sure, but all the apps I have downloaded and installed are all going to the SDCard. I guess all of them will eventually go to the SDCard.
-HTC Apps and widgets? Everything is there, as far as I noticed until now.
Now, I am enjoying the DSP equalizer, apps to SDCard (16GB ), but still afraid of OCing.
SMS, WLAN, Camera, E-Mail, etc. seem to work smooth, no bugs found so far.
My Desire seems to run faster than with the original rom, but it is just my subjectiv comparison.
The phone won't 'see' your EXT partition but when you install apps the quoted storage will barely go down...I have a 1GB EXT3 partition on my SD card for when I use a custom ROM, its 16GB so I don't miss the space as I'm on a stock ROM at present and don't use many apps

If the storage are going down or used slowly, is it worth to have 1GB as EXT3 or just leave it be at 512MB?
Depends on the ammount of unneccessary apps you plan to install

Hahahahahahaha....
You got that one right on the spot.
Most of my apps are games.
Games are not considered as necessary apps.
I will stick with 512MB
Thanks EddyOS and |OS|,
This sounds awesome! I've got 14 MB remaining on my internal memory and a long list of apps I still want to play with.
With this news I'm going to jump into the whole flashing/rooting thing (incidently why do both of these terms have sexual overtones?).
LeeDroid here I come!
|O2| did you use the Unrevoked root method? Could you possibly post the youtube link that you mentioned? I am, as you were, quite anxious about turning my beloved Desire into an expensive paperweight so any extra tips would be very appreciated. (I have heard that it is fairly simple and has a very low risk but I'm still a bit hesitant)
Thanks again! What a wonderfully helpful community this is!
I made a thread on this before and didnt get much help so this im doing it right.
Size of sdcard used: 8gb Kingston class 4
Size of each partition created and type of partitions made : Primary fat 32 (4.7gb) and Primary EXT4 (2gb)
Software used for partitioning (Gparted, Amon Ra recovery etc): Gparted

Whether you are S-OFF or S-ON (If you dont know what this is, or you dont have the picture of a Joker holding a card, on the bootup screen, you are S-ON): S-OFF
Detailed account of steps you did for the procedure, with output/errors at each step as received from the Recovery/Partitioning software: This part im not too clear about
Did you do a full wipe from Recovery before installation?: Yes
If you didnt, what ROM were you running previously?:
Version of the ROM you installed, and the names of the Data2SD installer/reinstaller flashable zips you used (if any.): Starburst (1.3.3.5) – Standard Edition Data2Sd installer (Stable) VersionCode :1.3tiny
If you’re using a custom kernel, full name of the kernel with author name, the kernel voltage if known, whether you have an overclocked/undervolted configuration: None
Did you get any of the following messages in recovery? …………………………………….
sd-ext could not be formatted, file already exists?
Failure mounting ‘sd-ext’
Or a message similiar to the above?: No
My battery is draining in 9 hours of moderate use opposed to full days or more before rooting and using this custom rom. It also lags now, it will be all zippy then it will freeze for a few seconds or just lag insanely. Maybe the battery issues are stemming from the cpu working too hard trying to deal with the lag. Thats just me brainstorming but ya, if anyone could help me out here I would greatly appreciate it.
(As of now I am using a default homescreen free of all custom apps to see if the problem is stemming from one of them) EDIT: it made no difference so I am assuming it is not a running app.
(Also, it lagged as soon as starburst was installed so maybe the apps have nothing to do with it. Another issue is that when I press the power button to turn the screen on the screen dosent always turn on. This is another issue associated with the lag that is bothering me)
A note. The battery melts away when I start to use apps, the internet or anything that takes the phone out of standby mode. If I'm correct the kernel in the starburst rom overclocks the CPU to one thousand and something. Maybe this could be my problem. And if you think this may be the case could you recommend a better kernel to me? Thanks

I think I may have figured out the issue. You see, when I first installed the rom I restored my default settings effectively replacing my new fancy rom with the old one.
When I wiped the internal memory (2 gb or so off of ext 4 primary I think) the external still had a few files on it from the last install of the rom. I left those there thinking they would be no issue. Could those remnants from my first starburst install be the cause of my issues?

Wipe and repartition with Gparted, this time only leave 1 Gb for ext4. Dont install Setcpu and dont manually set vdd levels for kernel. See if it lags before any apps are installed. If it doesnt try restoring apps with Titanium and see again. Since you do have 10 posts, why dont you continue this qn in StarBurst thread? Please dont PM me. I rarely if ever check these!
Btw..you can also flash the Leedroid 2.2f from Kernels section of my site. It's known for its better battery life.

That is a successful flash mate by the looks of it. Of course you lose all apps and settings after flash, and as far as I know leedroid is a sense Rom, so it looks very similar to what you got out of the box, but now you can mod it and flash different kernels and scripts, like data2ext.
Oh, and regarding market, just search for market apk and install it the way you'd install any app.

LeeDroid looks and feels like a stock rom but with added extra bits, and speed.
you can overclock or underclock with setcpu run rooted apps.

Either corrupt card or bad partitioning. Just partition it in recovery and search for ext align tool on Baadnewz blog. Google is your friend.
If partitioning doesn't help, try different card.

ok sorted that last issue but how will i know if ive partitioned the sd card correctly ?
ive got a 16gb one and it says total space 13.75 & available space 13.47gb
and on the internal it only says 129mb
why is this ?
What was the fix for the last issue? If you don't provide full info we won't know where it could have fine wrong.

tinky i partitioned it as you said in recovery but then i couldnt get past the loading screen with the joker on it aftwerwards
So i went back into recovery and i had to do a restore that was the only way i got it working and the memory card issue also vanished
Now its working properly should i backup my current ROM in ROM manager ?
what else do i need to do to make sure i dont **** it up in future ?
Also how will i know if ive partitioned the sd card correctly ?
ive got a 16gb one and it says total space 13.75 & available space 13.46gb
and on the internal it only says 116mb
How much space you assigned to ext? Also, not all roms support ext4, so if you did use align tool, then quite possibly that your Rom just can't see ext partition. Solution, partition again but this time don't use align tool which will convert any ext partition to ext4.
Regarding not loading after partitioning that is sort of expected, restore done the trick for you. Regarding not getting into this situation again, once you get it right just use recovery to do nandroid and ext backup, and keep it safely on pc, in case you need to change SD card. Then you just partition new card and do restore.

Anyone having issues on the latest Leedroid 2.4 with apps that have been updgraded from in-app billing?
Have one app (quota) which is now disabled due to the fact that the upgrade is now in progress whereas it worked fine on 2.3d.
The app dev suspects it is ROM and market related as other stock ROM users haven't had the same issue.
Hey guys!
This might be some kind of a noob question but I honestly don't know what I am doing wrong.
I tried different custom ROMs on my Desire and they all share one major fault: my device freezes at least once or twice a day. I tried MildWild Oxygen, MildWild CM, and CM7.1.
First I thought it might be the ADW Launcher in CM7.1 because that was the first ROM I tried, but the others have different launchers and the problem prevails. Also I tried to lower the max CPU frequency but that didn't solve the problem.
Maybe it has sth to do with my partitions? Because I only partitioned my SD card but did nothing more like adding scripts or SD alignment.
Any help will be gratly appreciated.
You can try the file I'm posting below after partitioning your sd card. It'll align and convert your ext3 partition to ext4. This might help. Good luck.
PS: I couldn't post the file because of my low message count. You can search and find the file on google easily. The filename is "alignment_cool_2.zip"
The rom and its kernel could be the prob to .. try runny AIO 5.0.3 no freeze at all

Runnymede for me was always stable, but I hate the lag. I multitask a lot!
First of all, thanks to you all for participating in this discussion.
I haven't had a single freeze all day and haven't changed a thing.
Is it possible that my problems disappeared all by themselves?
To be honest, MildWild 2.9 was the smoothest of the three from the beginning.
I'll keep you updated.
PS: Suggestions are of course still welcome
another thing just came to me:
could it be that I messed it up with the partitions I made? Because when I did it I felt like experimenting and made a 2GB ext4 instead of 1GB like I had always done in the past.
ok, I was in a bit of euphoria after I hadn't had a single freeze during the day.
Last night I had an unwanted reboot, this morning I couldn't wake my phone when the alarm went off so I had to take out the battery and on my way to work my phone crashed while I was listening to music and I had to reboot twice to get it running properly again...
Try using alignment_cool_2.zip after partitioning. I also don't use swap partition and set that to "0". Since mildwild released a new version of his rom you can repartition and then use alignment tool and install that new version.

You can try the file I'm posting below after partitioning your sd card. It'll align and convert your ext3 partition to ext4. This might help. Good luck.
PS: I couldn't post the file because of my low message count. You can search and find the file on google easily. The filename is "alignment_cool_2.zip"

I'm just wondering why you recommend using this rather than just using gparted to convert to ext4?
I also think people should be careful using it as I believe it will wipe your ext3 contents and therefore could mess up your phone. It may be possible to use recovery to backup the ext3/4 and the recover it but that is beyond my level of knowledge to be honest.

Gparted doesn't always work too well for me. Also, after formatting and partitioning your sdcard, everything will be wiped out anyway. This file is very easy to use, plus it aligns your partition. You don't have to boot your computer with gparted. If you don't want to lose your stuff on your sdcard, simply copy everything to your computer and move them back after partitioning...

another thing just came to me:
could it be that I messed it up with the partitions I made? Because when I did it I felt like experimenting and made a 2GB ext4 instead of 1GB like I had always done in the past.

That may well be the issue. I tried to create a 2Gb sd-ext partition (using CWM) and it crashed my phone as soon as it put all the apps into it. . I have seen it reported that it is known bug that it can't handle large ext3 partitions on the SD card, so I reduced it to 512Mb and all is fine.
Hello guys!
First of all I would like to thank everyone who participates at XDA Developers. Incredible Job!
Since a few weeks I'm having problems with my HTC Desire using several ROMs.
I've been using Mildwild 3.2 since a few months and it went like a charm, so there was actually no need for me to change it. But then Mildwild 4.0 was released and for some reason I thought it might be a good idea to update my Desire to the latest Version.
I took my AData 16GB Class 10 SD Card and used GParted to partition the Card like it was supposed to be. 1GB Ext3. But when I installed Mildwild 4.0 I always had the same problem that when installing Apps the phone just "rebooted".. I'm using quotation marks, as it does not completely reboot, but instead only shows the "Mildwild" Logo (not the green HTC text on white background). The app is not installed. When i completely reboot the phone it is most likely to happen, that i can install the app without any problem.
As I did not find any solution to this and Mildwild started working on an ICS ROM i decided to switch to a different ROM that i already experienced a few months ago (at leat its predecessor) - Redux2 ZM 4.4. As I always thought that the problem is caused by my SD Card i decided to buy 4EXT Recovery from market and clean up everything before installing it. I formated everything /boot, /sdcard/, etc. - everything! And repartitioned the SD Card with 1GB Ext3 and 15GB Fat32. After installing Thalamus r4 kernel and redux2 everything has been restored from google servers like a charm, but for some reason some apps could not be downloaded. When I tried to install them manually after the automatic download finished.. guess what happened? The phone rebooted with the "redux" animation..
I actually dont have any idea anymore, what the reason could actually be. Maybe you can help me with my problem, as i just want to use a stable ROM on my beloved desire.
Thx in advance and sorry if i didnt find a thread that already discusses this problem!
i suggest you unstall some apps, because i've gone through this problem. It happens when there was a little space left.
Well, it says 130 MB left on internal storage
Same problem - no solution yet
Hi - I have also been having the same problem for the last 3 or so days. However, I am on an HTC Desire using LeeDroid ROM - so it would seem that this problem is not dependent on the ROM. Would be very grateful for a solution. This is starting to drive me nuts.
Im still struggelin with the problem. I thought it might be caused be a corrupted partition table? The idea with low space might also be the problem. Actually there are like 110 MB free whenever i look it up, but there might be peaks where it is lot less.. seen 40mb space left already. But why is this possible anyway? Thought this is the reason i have a sdext partition..
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA
Still struggling..
Me too. Just out of interest, are you running wavesecure? Long shot, but I was wondering if this is somehow connected. Nasty piece of software!
What is wavesecure?

ok, i just wiped everything, formatted everything, repartitioned everything (1 gb ext4), flashed stock hboot, wiped everything again, flashed cm7r2 hboot, wiped everything again, flashed mildwild 4.0, flashed kernel r4.. booted once, set SD-EXT to active, rebooted, set sd-ext to default installation location, rebooted again.. now apps are downloading from the google servers and everything seems to work like a charm.. no "reboots" which i had the last few weeks.. ill keep u up to date
Sry for bringing this thread up again, but looks like I'm having the same problem as mentioned in the first post. Almost everytime I try to update or download new application, phone does the same as thread author described.
I'm on stock HBOOT if it means anything, Mildwild 4.8 based on Oxygen. Do I have to update HBOOT to fix this or is there another solution ?

Changing hboot doesn't help.
Just do what the OP did. Wipe everything, repartition your sd-card, and then see what happens.
I'll give it a try, I see Nobizzle did flash cm7r2 hboot so that is the reason I asked that. Nevermind, I'll stick with stock and report result after I finish.
