[question] Touch key backlight notifications - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I searched, but I did not find anything other than threads saying it will nee here when we have root.
Is there already something out there that makes the touch key lights come on/blink for notification?
Thank you all!

You're going to need a custom kernel that supports BLN (back light notification). That hasn't been created yet.

that's a clever idea - in the meantime tho 'noled' works fairly well with lots of customization and battery-saving options.

You know I tried it, and I set it up pets thread I found on here and I simply never had any change. That was on stock ROM though. Will try on juggernaut now.

[Q] LED notification?

Does the s2 have this option? If so where do I enable it? I hate having to keep turning on the phone to see if I missed any messages or notifications... Thanks
The T-Mobile variant does not have LED notifications. Its a bummer but it is what it is.
Edit: Solution below.

I'm sure once we have root you'll be able to use the main button LED's for notifications.

Okay, I got it to work... Now when the led shows. Is there another way to go straight to the app that the led came up for? Or do I have to dismiss it first, then power on phone?
Also, is there a way from preventing the screen to turn on/off when the message or miss call comes in... I just want the led to show, no light up
how much of a battery killer is this app? just wondering haha
Notification LEDs
Are there any notification leds on this phone? I have missed a few calls and received texts, but only found out after I powered back up from standby. I have only ever had HTC phones before, and they all had notification leds...any help would be great..TIA
Not at the moment. It would be awesome if we could make the soft keys flash to notify though!

I don't really miss the LED notification that much (although i think it would be nice to have). Having a soft key flash would be REALLY cool though
NoLed in market is a good app, using it now.. lil led notifications pop up on screen, when phone is on like standby.. try it out

Better to ask these questions in the Noled forum on xdA, talk to the Dev
Just type in Noled theme in xda forum search.

I wish they'd have put the same blue LED they put in the sprint model... I like blue :/

No LED app Alternative?

Apologize if this already exists.
would it be possible for one of the talented developers in our forum to add an option to have the four buttons (menu, home, back, search) blink to notify of a new message, email, missed call, etc? or maybe be able to choose a button for a particular event, like menu button flashes for new emails, home button flashes for missed calls, etc.
Try noled from the market.

thanks for the replies. yeah, i am using noled as well and it works well. i was just thinking being able to have the backlight of the buttons flash as a notification instead of the screen would use less battery. does noled have that option and i am missing it?
Then use bln

BLN (back light notification) is an app that allows the 4 capacitive buttons on our phone or any other Android device to blink as a notification whenever you receive a message, missed call, voicemail etc. You can download the app from the Android market but for now it will be useless to us because we do not have a kernel to support this feature. You must first be rooted and then flash a custom kernel that has BLN enabled in order to use the app/function. I believe that a custom kernel is in the works since all Galaxy S phones had custom kernels to support this feature. Even the Nexus S (which isn't Galaxy S) supported this feature once a custom kernel was installed. For now I recommend downloading and using NO LED (can be found in the MARKET) in the meanwhile.

I keep my haptic feedback set very low. Missed message flasher seems to vibrate at the same intensity as haptic feedback so it's nearly useless. Does this happen to yours or am I doing something wrong?

Uninstall app, then reinstall! then when done go to widgets and put the noled widget on screen, then delete widget. also u can go into menu and turn it on in settings and it also has a test feature also. Plus the dev is very helpful, if u have problem look him up on xda.

[Q] LED Notifications

Since there isn't an LED light specifically for notifications, is there a way to make the LEDs for menu, home, back, and search light up for said notifications? It would be even better if each one lit up for specific apps so I could know why it's lighting up before I even turn on the screen.
Thanks for any help!
My suggestion would be NoLED.

The closest we can get to LED notifications is BLN. You need to use a BLN compatible kernel and use the app BLN Control.

I'm trying to tweak some things on system tuner and my phone rebooted (but took a bit to turn on) my blood pressure dropped, I thought I killed my phone!
But after some reading.. it pretty much means the phone does not like those settings, change them.. right? Phone works fine now though, but I was wondering for future reference

Yeah, basically. If you are undervolting, you need to take tiny increments to make sure the phone is stable before going any further.

Capacitive Buttons

Any way to completely disable them? Running AOKP and would like a Nexus-like experience. I know we can disable the lights, I don't want them to work at all.
Get a button remaper app and remap it to focus for all 4 keys.

Get a root explorer. and either mod/delete System > Usr > Keylayout > melfas_touchkey.kl
I would delete it. Then they shouldnt work at all.
EDIT: you are going to have to delete more than just that one. I believe you are going to have to edit Generic.kl and possibly qwerty.kl as well. Let me extract them and look at them side by side in notepad++
Okay here flash this attached file and you should be golden. ive edited all appropriate files.
Thanks for the zip, it works perfectly.

Nope the zip just disables the ability to press them. Lights and everything else controlling them will well should still work. The zip just says to android that search menu back and home buttons aren't available. Just the same as a galaxy nexus or tablet would.

You should probably make a little thread with that enabler/dis-abler zip in the apps section of t989 because i'm sure there are alot more people that would find this very useful..
Just sayin, and thanks

Camera Capture Volume- REQUEST

i'll donate a fistful of dollars for just a simple hack or app to activate the Volume rocker as camera capture on sprint GS3 710. i'm new to rooting, installed CM10 ( i don;t have a need to root except to get jellybean, or the volume rocker to activate image capture), but the camera on the most recent nightly CM10 build doesnt have settings at all
i'm using CWM loaded via odin, if that helps.
if something already exists out there that is NOT HX camera mod 1.45, point me to it PLEASE no offense to HX, it just won;t install via CWM and i'm not crafty enough to learn a new root method tonight.
thanks ya'll
