what PB99IMG did you flash? are you branded?
i used this
PB99IMG_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_r elease_159811_signed.zip
i tried also every other pb99img i could find... but other din't work at all
should i have a goldcard or rooted phone?
i think i am not branded, but i am not shure ://
if you have your phone on contract with e.g.Orange, O2, Vodafone etc then you are branded.
With a branded phone you need a goldcard to flash an unbranded PB99IMG.
To create a goldcard follow this tutorial. Notice however you need to skip the part where they find the CID of the SD-Card using the phone, and use this tool instead, COPY DOWN THE CID WITHOUT ANY SPACES, COMMAS ETC. JUST LETTERS/NUMBERS. Then follow from the tutorial.
Once you have a goldcard try to use the same RUU you used (PB99IMG_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_r elease_159811_signed.zip)
I guess that is why this metod did't wokr ha? :/
i will try to make a goldcard tomorow...

Hmm maybe, you could also try using a RUU instead?. What network are you on?
EDIT: By the way I just noticed you posted a 2nd thread, there was really no need.
i tried RUU
I tried milions of RUU's befor, but always the same. it shows me that i need more than 30% battery power. and i always had like... atleast 90%
I don't know what network i am on. its my friends phone.
and btw... i'm from slowenia
EDIT: sory for the second post... but i am realy starting to get gray hair... i just can't figure it out :/

you mean with the goldcard? yeah I said skip the part where they get the CID (and actually all of the parts where the phone is involved), just use the tool I sent you to get the CID, put your SD in an adapter and follow the tutorial

go to the folder where you installed adb and note the file directory. If you're having problems there's a section on my guide that can help you out

Code:

Then start the phone in HBOOT mode (VolDown+POWER) to flash the HBOOT without a PC." <<<that but it says cid incorrect reboot or similar any help is much appreciated
also sorry if this has been asked before but i could not find the threads
That's sounds like you need a goldcard but I haven't tried the PB99IMG way.
Have you tried flashing it through fastboot?
I think that's the more reliable way to do it.

you dont need the java sdk you need the jdk
eitherway fastboot doesnt require java to flash as its an executable from path using cmd so im wondering what you are doing to use it
is it the installer itself that is giving you an error?

Ive tried to s-off my Wildfire like 3 times. The first one i failed cz i chose HBOOT 1.01.0001. The second one it was stucked on Acquiring Root <method 1> then i waited, then it said click anything to exit. after that my third times, it doesnt detect my handset.
Does it mean my WF already s-off or what?
Thanks a lot to who has answered my question
You can check the HBOOT version by pressing Vol - and power when turning it on.
i already know its 1.01.0002
But then when i tried to do it again, the alpharevx doesnt detect my phone. it only said : Android
Then it wanted i put the serial
nvm, it detects now. But it stucks when it says Thank you for participating

No. It detects it almost immediately. Possible solutions:
- Make sure USB Debugging is On, as already said above
- Redownload the AlphaRev X Executable file
- Make sure Drivers are installed and working properly. There are 2 aspects to this:
1) Install HTC Sync, and, Uninstall it. The ADB Drivers will be installed
2) The HBoot Drivers are next. Guide to install that is here:

There are two possible solutions there again. But, before that, make sure you have entered the right details (Right Serial Number (HT0....), Right HBoot Version, Right Device Model).
Once you are sure these are correct:
- Solution 1 - Copy the beta key in your clipboard from the website, then right click the title bar of the AlphaRevX Application, Click Properties, then check mark Quick Edit Mode. Then Right click anywhere inside the window, it will paste the key.
- Solution 2 - Redownload the AlphaRevX Application from the website and retry.
EDIT: Ninja'ed, Oh well.
lol sory mymistake... actually i really put the wrong beta key...
now that i hve S-OFF myphone what should i do now... sorry i really dont know anything..
Two ways again:
1) Follow this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130044
2) Use Fastboot (Which I used)
- Download Android SDK - http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
- Download ClockworkMod Recovery - http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1014498
- Extract the Recovery.img file from the 2nd link, and place it in your SDK Setup Path / Tools (eg: C:/android-sdk-windows/tools)
- Open a Command Window (cmd)
- Browse to the tools folder in this Command Window
- Type the command fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
- It will install ClockworkMod Recovery, you are done.
Then, simply follow Part 3 of this guide to install Custom ROMs and Stuff, irrespective of what you followed above.

EXE File.
That post simply means, that when you have completed installing your SDK, then, there will be a folder called "Tools" at your install location. Copy Paste the Recovery.img file to the Tools folder.

then open cmd right?? now what??
Hello,
I'm new to the forums, and have only just recently got a HTC Wildfire A3333 running 2.2.1.
I have tried to use " [GUIDE] Downgrade to HTC Froyo WWE for AlphaRevX (HBOOT 1.01.0001) " to downgrade the h boot as to start to gain root.
But when I have followed the instructions, it appears to complete ok, but when I reboot in to the system menu, it still shows as .002 hboot and does not install the rom supplied.
any help would be great
EDIT: IT TOLD ME I HAD SUCCESSFULLY CREATED GOLD CARD
GlennBrownie
same goes with me mate, i got the gold card and then i insert it, it all goes but when the cmd closes it still shows hboot 1.01.002
This happened to me on a Telstra wildfire (A3335). if you make it so the CMD window doesn’t close (I used an alternative shell) you will see that it actually gets some error before closing, which is why it doesn’t actually change the hboot.
I must have done it 20 times before I got it to work. I can't remember what I did differently the time I made it work, but it was something to do with which usb mode the phone was in for each step, and when I decided to change it from one mode to the other. Basically trying to make it so the phone wouldn’t say “preparing SD card” after I had made the goldcard.
Worst part was when I finally downgraded my Hboot, alphrev X still wouldn’t work for me. Continued to get the error of “Retrieving Caroline from certain doom...” and "mtd: not writing bad block at 0x00000000" I've since given up..
okays, thanks for the help, ill try that, but with alpharevx the problem they are tring to fix is the part where you need to restart into fastboot the second time, so in this case, ill give that a try. the thing is that im useing windows 7 enterprise, i have the hboot drivers all installed and etc, i used the intructions given to me and everyone else where you have to make the gold card. in that intruction it stated to put the sd card into the usb or sd port, the thing i did was switch my phone to mount the SD card and create it via there, i think the part where we all went wrong is unmounted it after we finished making the sd card. so try that, and with your problem i tghink you need to try and run the program in ADMIN mode (right click and run as admin) and then try and get the HBOOT drivers from Unrevoked installed. give that a try and hope it all works out
cheers

my question is, when i run alpharevx, it asks me for the beta key, note that it doesnt show my device name or anything like how i did it before i downgraded, any ideas why? and does anyone have a beta key for me to use? because the one i got with my phone when i entered it in said it was incorrect, when before before i downgraded it worked perfectly fine (except the rotting part).
what Beta key, I dont recall one?

If it doesn’t show your device properly just reboot your phone. Basically every time the program fails it won’t show your device properly until you reboot again (This will also fix the issue where it thinks you have the wrong beta key). People suggesting to go get a new beta key have no idea. Have they not noticed that it doesn’t matter which HBoot version you select on the site you still get the same key based on your serial number.
yes, i used mt wildfire SN and i use the code it gives me still getting the same problem,

done it twice and it still come up with success message?
even did it through hex editor....
I tried to do it again to show screenshots.
firstly, I ran step one and it says "cannot stat" followed by file name and says "no such file or directory". see image1.jpg
I then checked the buzzdowngrade folder, and all files are there. see image4.jpg
I then attempted the goldcard, and I clicked get cid, and it loaded a CID with a lot of 0's in it so I dont think its showing correct CID, possibly hiding real CID?
image2.jpg
when I clicked patch MMC, it came up with an error message. see image3.jpg
Have you installed the HTC driver 3.0.0.007. If not, install it first before even going with step1.
And regarding step2, creating a working gold card is important. If you still get custom id errors, try with a different memory card. And run the gold card tool as administrator. And in that you will see mmc0 and mmc1 options. Try creating with the other if one fails.

You have to change the connection status from charge only to Mass storage
then click refresh and the memory card will be available.

right, got an update.
managed to succeed with the dmisc.img and others that failed - thanks to Mattyyey, cheers Matt

its probably your fake SD card! I was able to run the commands in step 1 and 2 from the cmd, all but the final ROM flash. I think after we create it we should confirm its been put on the SD card via hex workshop.... I did think of this last night but I was getting tired and you dont have it installed. I suspect its just the goldcard isn't done, everything else works when typed manually into cmd.
Unless anyone else has another reason for the custom ID check failing?
MATTYYEY was correct, it was due to fake microSD card, completed gold card with authentic SD card and it worked.

Hi,
so I managed to S-off my Desire using Revolutionary. But now I would like to change the HBOOT.
So I put the PB99IMG.zip file on the root of the SD card and boot the phone holding Volume Down + Power, next the message '... PB99IMG.zip not found ...'
Why does this happen? What can I do?
Grtz
is it definitely named PB99IMG.zip in capitals? Is it definitely not ending .zip.zip?
Alternatively try "Android Flasher". Not saying it's better, but it's a workaround.
I'll say its better
yeah, it's all in caps. :s

Its usually something to do with the file name. itmust be exactly "PB99IMG.zip" not "pb99img.zip" or "PB99IMG.zip.zip"
You'd be surprised how many people have that last one.

Hmm wouldn't trust wine with something this important. You can just drop the fastboot file into ubuntu and use the commands from the fastboot faq in my signature. If you can wait an hour, ill upload the fastboot file and tell you where to put it...
Then from a terminal just type the command. Dead easy

I fixed the problem, don't know why, but I just reformatted the SD card (with Gparted, exactly the same as I did the first time). And now the PB99IMG file was recognized, so I was able to install the new HBOOT.

I downgraded mine in 20 mins, its so simple. Basically u need to -
Unlock bootloader (google)
Flash recovery (google)
Flash superuser (google)
Then on ur pc u do the misc_version bit and in the cmd window u need to type in the ruu number that ur going to run so that when u do run the ruu, it thinks ur software number is 1.xx.xxxx NOT 2.xx.xxxx. Once uv finished misc_version part u need to boot back into fastboot and relock ur bootloader (fastboot oem lock) then run the ruu, if all goes well u can use revolutionary.
