Thankyou very much, but I can't get it to work. It won't install, and if I push it to the system/app folder it doesn't come up under widgets. Any way to get it to work?
Ur asking a good question, I extracted it from my original rom with root uninstaller dunno if you can install back by this app??
I suspect you are on Cognition.
If this' the case then you have to go to the Cognition thread and download the removed stuff from the first post and push it to /system/app either with Root Explorer or via adb.
If you take the original Samsung widgets from stock ROMs or even from past versions of Cognition itself they shouldn't work as expected...
A bit weird to me but that's the truth...
Ok so I have done this before but for the life of me I can't figure out where I got it. I'm running Myn warm 2.2 and I want the stock sense dialer. Since changing fonts in ROM toolbox it reverted back to the warm dialer and now I can't find the zip I found before. Can someone post a link or something? Thanks in advance.
Anyone?

Couldn't find the link to any flashable stock dialers, but you could always
download a stock(ish) rom, extract the HtcDialer.apk and use adb to push
it to /system/app
If you aren't familiar with adb I'll help with the steps, or tomorrow I'll take
a stab at finding the proper HtcDialer.apk and making a flashable zip for you.
Hi there, I'm looking to get started with some basic editing of the UI on my galaxy nexus and have not found any place to start. Can someone point me in the right direction?
What I would suggest is to download one of the themes in the apps and themes forum. Dig through the zip and see which files they modified.
The two apk's that are usually modified are:
SystemUI.apk located in system/app
Framework-res.apk located in system/framework
There is also a lot of info here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=527
Good Luck!
Are you rooted? What ROM are you running? Are you using a different launcher or just stock launcher? What exactly did you have in mind for your UI?

Above is the basic paths, but if you really want to go in balls deep let me recommend APK multi tool. It allows you to quickly decompile APKs like systemui and modify them and then recompile and push them to your phone without too much trouble. Shouldn't bee too much trouble to set up if you know what your doing and already have ADB installed on your PC.

Have fun!
I have a question.
But first I want to say thanks to: dsixda For making the Kitchen, Stryke_the_Orc , bilgerryan , and tdunham, For answering my questions when Google couldn't. and also kobridge for his hard work and contributions to our community as well. Almost forgot to mention tdunham's VERRY COOL!!! AIO mod-----> forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2149900.
Thanks to you guys I have Deodexed, modified, and successfully flashed my first custom rom.
My question for anyone who knows whould be how can I replace the stock touchwiz launcher with Nova launcher bfor building my working folder in to working rom? If I install Nova then uninstall touchwiz after the flash I don't have any trouble. but when I try to replace touchwiz with nova be for I compile/build the rom from my working folder. Nova fails to properly install/launch after boot up. it FC's at the desktop and does not restart. leaving me with an inoperable rom.
Any one?

All the custom ROMs I have made have been for other devices. On them I just deleted the stock launcher and copied in the one I wanted into /system/app. I have never done it on a TW ROM though. Might want to find a ROM that does it, then download it and see how THEY did it
Most I have learned about ROM structure has been learned that way.

Thank you for your input. Yes I originally removed the touchwiz launcher from system/app and replaced it with the Nova launcher before building the rom and flashing it. All of the other apk's I added to the phone during the build process installed during the flash and operate just fine. Nova however FC's as soon as I finish the initial setup and reach the home screen. When I leave TW installed, then download nova from the market. it works just fine. even after I freeze and uninstall TW.
Maybe I should have posted in the Kitchen thread. I didn't because he has stated in his op that he no longer officially supports the kitchen. So I thought I would not bother him with my problems. Maybe a moderator could move this to the kitchen thread please? Thank you in advance.

Actually, you can do this outside of kitchen. Use 7zip to drag your new launcher into the zip archive under /system/app you'll also need any lib files associated with the launcher. You can get these (if there are any) using root explorer after installing the launcher on what you're running. Just copy them to your sd card and transfer to PC, then drag them into /system/lib folder
You're good to go after that:thumbup::beer:

Hi there,
I accidentally deleted the home launcher from my GT-I9195. Can someone upload the .apk so I can restore it.
That would be awesome.
Thanks
Gino

if you can not find it anywhere, download a custom rom like stok rom, and then copy file from /system/app folder of rom
I know where to find it.
But it would be faster if somebody could post a link to the .apk for me.
Should take less time.
I can provide it, just answer these questions so I can provide you with the correct one...
Did/do you have odex files?
What exactly did you delete?
