Hi
I wanna buy this phone . but i want to sure that it is powerful .
and another questions is that the Arc S can change partitions to EXT4 like Galaxy S1 or S2?
how about CWM?
and
how much in CM7 quadrant shows?
how about original Rom?
and MIUI ?
Quadrant doesn't say anything about everyday performance...
Go to a store and try it out, that's the best way to see if it's fast enough for you.

Hi guys! I would like to known from you some impressions about the arc..i'm an x10 user and i love the arc but i know that its hardware is just a little bit outdated compared to new dualcore phone..anyway i saw that are available some kernel to overclock cpu up to 1.86 and many other features! So i would like to know if you think that is a good idea to switch to the arc or wait to buy another new phone??from x10 to arc is a big step or not?
Thanks a lot guys
Best regards
Francesco

I'd say just get one of the dual cores out there. Plus their RAM and internal memory are bigger than Arc. I myself is leaning towards htc sensation as my next fone and handover my Arc to my mrs. Although Arc is not so bad in normal usage like surf, chat, music n movie. It's just that it's becoming boring at least for me as there's no other ROM to try out at the moment considering most of the users are bootloader-unlocked. Cyanogen is under development though.

For day to day use it's great, but if you want to play the latest games in a few months and want the highest benchmark scores go and get something else.
Atm everything works smooth on it.

As I've said many a time, the Arc is the best single-core handset on the planet.
Whether that's enough for you is something you and only you can decide.
Thanks guys for your opinions..

I want long battery life, awesome game playing, and smooth system. Im sure everybody think best rom is gingerbread. But why people chose Ics ?
İcs: better UI looking
Better looking app swithcer
Chrome, good launchers
Gingerbread:smooth rom
Long battery life
Better gaming
Etc.
What guys are you think? Which rom is better for me, İ dont care looking i just want performance

Look:
Gingerbread:
Smoother UI
Fluent
Easy to use
Better Gaming More RAM can Be Allocated to the Games.
ICS
Better UI
Fluent
Average Knowledge needed
Uses "MORE RAM" Just to run the android OS.
Gaming Will have Lag Because of the Play having Only 512MB RAM.
So why people choose Ics I cant understand.

ICS is still beta, when it will be finally released it will probably be better than Gingerbread.
Sent from my R800i using XDA
Yep, I think ill stick to ginger till we have all full feature on
Sent from my R800i using xda premium
When it's officially released and Sony say say that they've fixed everything and will run smooth and won't be a memory hog on 512 mb ram phones then i'll definitely be upgrading to ICS

Because there are people who care to experiment, read instructions and give feedback instead of wasting their time and everyone else's asking which ROM is better.
Hi my wifes Arc S is starting to annoy her its starting to get laggy
and she has dropouts when using GPS.
She is currently on GB Rom
I am an experience android user and do understand that the best way is to
try each ROM yourself. But because it us her phone I just don't want to spend
time messing around on it and just give her something that works.
Looking for most stable ICS/GB whether it be offical stock or custom rom
no interested in overclocking
excellent battery life
excellent data/wifi/gps
doesn't have to be superfast - stability is more important
So i am looking for ROM (ICS/GB/Custom), Kernel & Baseband
most stable cum battery friendly cum good performance is Arconium series..Arconium ICS is really good..if u want to try GB then try Arconium 8 GB edition..they all are modified stock ROMs..use stock kernel for best battery life if you dont undervolt or overclock..
The all stock ICS is really good. Install it with pc companion if avalible. Boot once. Then do a backup and a repair flash to get it smooth with pc companion
As said the arconium is very good, so is the KA20 ics rom too.

My GF has the 4.0.4 ICS Stock on her ARC S. she loves it... wont let me touch it...
ICS seams to have come in leaps and bounds as far as speed / ram management goes. (long term laggyness)

nice
hello :cyclops:
i have the arc s lt18i.
in the beginning i flash the official sony ics release and i compare it to the samsung galaxy s1 - i9000 with custom rom (run ics).
the result is that the galaxy s1 much faster and smoother then the arc s. all the menus are much faster and the youtube app much much smoother. - the arc s is laggy and dont smooth in youtube app when i move from comments section to "other videos" section, when i scrolling in the "comment" section or "other videios" section.
i think thatthe official rom is the problem so i flashed ics jj hybrid rom.
now the phone is fast but not like the samsung galaxy s1 :crying:
the ypuyube app is very lag when i play a clip and navigate in the "comments" section, which in galaxy s1 is smooth!
as much as i know the arc s have a 1.4ghz and better specs
so what is the problem? is the samsung galaxy s1 is really better then the arc s?
thanks! :good:
Did you flash any custom kernel ? Its pretty fast for me ..

ArcKnight Kernel
I tried the arcknight kernel but my phone was even slower and had problems with its signal, now I'm using the stock kernel with cwm and xperia ice bean ROM.

Usually the purpose of a kernel is to over/under clock so go ahead and try doing that

hmm.. so the galaxy s1 with the 1ghz is better then the arc s with 1.4ghz?
because i did not overclocked both of them and the galaxy s1 is much faster.
do you guys have the same lags in the youtube with the scrolling? (while the video playing)
thank you guys for your comment!
Dont Forget
Dont forget that your galaxy S is using a custom rom. Considering if it were on a stock ROM performance would be better on the arc S considering that it is on 4.0.4

what is the matter?
ok but i dont see differences at all in the arc s or the galaxy s1.. i mean the ics look and everything is exactly like the arc s jj hybrid ics.
everything is the same!!! like they both based on ics!!!
but the old galaxy s1 wins for sure

I'm not really sure what your getting at and also the way of using your device could matter. Considering benchmarks the arc S would win for sure whereas in day to day use like you say the galaxy s could be better
Good day, Kudos !

Same problem with my Xperia Arc (ICS) ..
I think Sony mess up with ICS firmware. The phone was great and game friendly with GB, with official ICS it's laggy and don't play many games. I'm with a locked bl based on the 431 firmware. I've tried some roms and finally stick with pureness 10 V6 supercharged. Games won't play, but the phone is more reponsive, with less launcher restart. But overall the phone is slower than my old Desire with CM7

Unlock your bootloader , flash a custom kernel , flash a custom ROM ... Then you will see how fast it can perform...
BTW the galaxy s is probably on a custom kernel which is overclocked , running a custom supercharged ROM...

I don't want to unlocked bootloader and lost warranty and drm right And i don't think that putting a custom kernel made such a difference. But why Sony can't simply release a good rom is beyond my understanding. Why with GB i have no problem to play Angry birds and Asphalt 6 and when i upgrade to ICS, i must sometime reboot to play Angry bird because of touchscreen problem and can't play Asphalt 6 because of lack of usable memory. Maybe it's Google fault too, with ICS to big for 2011 smartphone, or bad Sony rom, but the result is here, unhappy customer, who are think twice before buying a sony phone in the future

If you are not satisfied with ICS then just downgrade to GB... Simple as that...

Yep ! Back to the future is probably the best solution, maybe i'm asking too much to Sony to hope a ICS as good as a GB They now concentrate on lauching too many new phones
guys ,what is the best tweak or script for stock rom ,to make it run without lag ?
1) No ROM, ever, runs without lag. Maybe God's rom but thats it...
2) There is no best tweak that makes it run "no lag". You should explore the world of tweaks to see whats best for you.
Personally, from statistics I recommend AdrenoBooster. I've heard it increases the Antutu scores of many GB phones by around 2k?
Here it is. In case you're wondering, yes it needs root.
Its true adrenoboost increases antutu score by 2 k.but practically its of no use.I removed, it.now I am using adrenaline engine.
