Hey guys, ever since the OTA update for 2.3.3 I've been getting at least one random reboot every week. It really pisses me off because before the update my phone ran perfectly AND it didn't even add Facebook or Android Market syncing which are the two things I was really hoping for. I finally rooted it the other day using the zergrush method and I've been messing around with the advanced settings in SetCPU hoping that something might help but I'm still getting random reboots every few days. I'm on the verge of paying Alejandrissimo to unlock my bootloader so I can flash doomkernel V3 but I don't even know if that would help. I guess I could also flash back to 2.3.2 and I imagine that would fix it.
I know I'm not the only person who started experiencing these reboots after the update, so does ANYONE know why they might be happening and what might possibly be a fix? Thanks.
You could try using Flashtool to go to a generic UK build

I got the update pushed to my phone yesterday and ever since there has been nothing but problems! First, the battery drains at a ridiculous rate. I unplugged it at 10:30 am and by 3:00 pm I was down to 60% without anything going on except 7 text messages. I can usually go 24 between charges. Second, the overall speed of the phone has slowed to a crawl. Web pages take forever to load, the app marked just hangs on the loading screen, and apps even take minuets just to open. Third, my phone randomly loses data connection. I cannot load any apps that require a data connection even when the wifi and 3G logo are showing with full bars. I get an error massage that says "connection failed" or "retry." it's so bad that when trying to sync notes or email my phone has the scroll wheel of death and freezes on that page. I've had the phone since thanksgiving and haven't done anything to it, its completely stock, I don't even know how to jailbreak it! I haven't had any issues whatsoever before I updated and now my phone is pretty much unusable. Is anyone else experiencing this? I need there to be an update to fix this update or for someone to tell me how to downgrade back to 2.3.4
You should try rooting and running an custom rom or kernel. I've received the ota as well but i immediately rooted afterwards. Im running the stock rom but using a custom, overclockable kernel, and its quick! Rooting is VERY easy on this particular phone & the instructions can be found here in the android development section of this phone model. Or you could simply just take the phone back and ***** to sprint about it and maybe they'll issue you a new unit.
I prefer not going to sprint at all simply because the only store with a repair center here where i live i worked at and it was terrible, but I need help. I want to know the simplest way to root and revert back to 100% out of the box stock if possible... If not i'll suck it up and go to the store

Do I need to root because this just shows him unrooting the phone?
You have been such a blessing! Thanks so much for being patient and dealing with my ignorance...
lol don't know yet.. but you are definitely more of a professional than I am so I am taking your word for it
I appreciate it. If I do encounter any problems I will let you know but so far so good. It's pretty easy to follow
It worked! Thanks again
Thanks! Being that I'm a pro now I will look into the whole rooting and flashing rooms. I even got the lingo down lol
Question though... Do I flash roms the same way as in the video or is there something different I have to do?
Anyone have a clue as to why a stock ROM GS3 (after the latest update) would be randomly shutting itself off? (Ithought this issue was to have been fixed in the latest ROM?)
I have LTE disabled, and only a few apps on there...

I had mine exchanged for this very reason, I was still in the trial period and received a new unit.
I'm having the same problem with mine every 3 days or so.. I also had the sms code 98.. But a simple phone call to sprint fixed that.. I should of said something about the restarts but I figured nothing would fix it besides an exchange which I plan on doing maybe next week..
Wait, so your saying this problem started happening AFTER you did the OTA LG8 Update...or its been happening since you purchased the phone? If its been happening since you purchased the phone, I would strongly advise exchanging it or wreaking hell on earth in a sprint store if they refuse. When you pay $500.00+ for a piece of hardware, there is absolutely no excuse for it not to work for years. I have not experienced this problem with my phone, however, I would strongly advise installing BlazerROM or StrongSteves Blue ROM. It could be that the OTA update you did was a bad flash. Find a stock tar around here, ODIN back to stock, and do the OTA updates again...or install a custom ROM like I advised earlier.
Yes, it started shutting down (not restarting) AFTER I did the OTA LG8 Update.
I spoke with Samsung last night and they offered to pay shipping both ways if I send it in to have it fixed.
Also, they suggested a hard reset, which I did, so I will see how it goes today.
I have only had the phone for two days so far...and I may have Sprint replace it if the issue persists.
I am sure you guys have heard this one before.
BTW thanks again for all the help on rooting my GNex. I did it only for experience and being able to tether my N7 to my phone and it works pretty good. The Gnex crashes sometimes while tethering.
So being on 4.0.2 and rooted stock and on Verizon I noticed several months ago my OTA updates were not being verified and thus not being installed. I was hoping the problem would go away but it has not and now my Gnex is crashing, almost daily, re booting and bugging the heck out of me with that nagging window telling me there is an update available.
Please keep in mind that I really love the tethering on my unlimited data plan and would like to keep a way to do that.
So should I try to side load the update to get to 4.04 or go back to stock? and start over.
Thanks for all the help

Can anyone point me to a fix for this problem?
Ive looked everywhere for a solution but cant seem to find one. My N7, currently running CM11, will randomly reboot for seemingly no reason. Sometimes i can go a day or two and nothing but just when i get comfortable, BLAM! Im not particularly worried just frustrated. I dont know what to do and I have read that its sort of common whether stock or custom(ROM). Im debating on trying to revert to stock because i cant seem to remember having this problem before CM, but i really cant be sure. Id rather not revert to stock if im just gonna have this issue but if it seems to work for others then id just go stock. Anyway I guess im saying that I need some advice here on what others experienced or think. Has reverting to stock worked for anyone else? Any other advice/insight would be greatly appreaciated!
-Thanks
The fix is coming, when Google releases Android 4.4.3, by the end of the month.. Sit tight

My stock N7 reboots randomly from time to time. It might go a week or more then reboot twice in one day. No apparent pattern to it.
Sent from my BN Nook HD using XDA Free mobile app
I am experiencing precisely the same issue described in the OP. So I am also pretty interested in knowing if there's a fix.
@BSnapp, how can you be so sure of that upcoming fix? Is there a known issue with 4.4.2 for the N7 that was resolved for the next version? Any sources worth mentioning?
Thanks.
It's all over the Android news sites that Google is including a fix for the random reboot, plus several other fixes.. Just Google Android 4.4.3 update, and you will find the answers you seek...

I am experiencing a very annoying situation.
C.O.D. had no issues before rooting. Used my phone a week without rooting and experienced ZERO crashes. Currently, I rooted my phone for a day. After setting up my phone I am experiencing the most annoying crashes on c.o.d... Have the same problem with my S8+ which was already already rooted before the game was released. The game just keeps crashing so I thought that the main reason was the specs of the phone. Followed the rooting guide and am using a stock ROM.
N975FXXS1ASJG_N975FOXM1ASJ2_PHN with this firmware package.
Am I lacking any updates or what?
I probably wouldn't be able to help but for some reason that just doesn't sound like enough info.
What kind of crash? Does the app fail to start or it runs for a couple matches then quits?
Are you restoring game or re-installing?
What kernel version?
Does the phone gets hotter than usual since root?
System trace?
Shouldn't be able to play it at all if u ask me.. they usually try to block that stuff so people don't try to cheat. You have to decide what is more important to you or deal with the never ending battle.
