Clockworkmod from the marketplace won't work on the e4gt. You need to flash a custom kernel or rom that has cwm recovery baked into it. There are many out there that can do this for you.

I just rooted my evo 2.2V following the incredible instructions outlined on XDA. now i have ROM manager installed. I did a backup using the ROM manager app and also downloaded the CM6 ROM using the same app. butwhen i tryed to flash the rom it did not go through. The phone rebooted but gave an error even befour the process could start. I tried it again using the ROM manager with the same results. What could be the issue? the original ROM was downloaded by ROM Manager and is still in the memory and every time i try flashing it, it just comes up with an error and i have to restore the backup. Could this be due to a corrupted dowload or something else. Thanks in advance for the help guys.
I recently used ROM Manager to d/l and flash CM6, no issues. But now when I use it to backup the ROM, it freezes up on a f/c screen after the backup is completed and is rebooting. Replicated the issue twice to be sure. Have to pull the battery. So much for not having to do a real nand, lol.
Still searching for the right thread for my issue.
Update: Cleared d/l cache, flashed RA 1.8 then reflashed Clockwork, all better.

I'm not qualified to tell anyone how to do anything, but you can find directions on how to d/l and place the rom on the root of your sd card, then flash it with recovery. Search out flashing roms and I'm sure you'll get it done.
Clearing and reflashing clockwork on rom manager before you try might not do any harm as well. Never know. Read up, don't trust my word, lol.

Have you tried other roms besides cm6? You will need the .76 hboot with that one. If you are having issues flashing any rom, then you will meed to try unlocking your nand again with toasts Eng bootloader.

Im currently running the synergy rom on my evo 4g. After playing around with the settings and what-not, i decided to flash a kernel. Well i flashed one via kernel manager and when my phone rebooted all i got was a continuous message saying that process.android.acore has stopped working and i have to force close it. It repeatedly does this with no end. So once again i rebooted it. Its now stuck in a boot loop, any way to fix this? Also, once fixed will it do the same thing again and again?
please help
If you did a nandroid, just go into recovery and flash that. Or use a different Rom and flash that.

okay thanks, i got out of the bootloop, but i also had to got back to stock gingerbread, is it possible for me to reflash synergy? Because it seems that its backup is corrupted.
Yes, backup your current rom, then do a full wipe, then flash synergy.
So while trying to flash a custom ROM, I installed ClockWorkMod Recovery using Rom Manager. From there, I proceeded to create a nandroid back up using Online Nandroid Back Up. Once it finished I restored said back up to see if it worked. Instead of booting up normally, the following messages appeared.
"Process system isn't responding. Do you want to close it?"
"Unfortunately, Dash Notifier has stopped"
"Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped"
Eventually I'm asked to choose between Nova Launcher and TouchWiz. If I choose Nova, the messages continue in a never ending loop.
Choosing TouchWiz finally let me access my phone. However, the messages continue to appear and now I don't have access to any Google Apps.
What happened?
I have this same issue, I was flashing Keyboard_themerV1.zip after clearing cache and cookies. When I got back into phone it kept FC the samsung keyboard so I went to restore my backup. That did not work and now I have a similar issue as above. All of those apps keep telling me they do not work.
Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped.
Also happens with Google Play Services, My TMobile, and practically everything else. My launcher is going crazy and I cannot switch launchers like Hero746 can.
I have Done a full wipe and restored and nothing, I just downloaded stock rom and reflashed odin to stock and it still does not work, so now it is not working, I dont have root or CWM.

Rom manager is what happened. Rom manager never works well with a Samsung device. There are a ton of guides here on xda. If you followed any of the ops from the rom threads you shouldn't have any issue.
You can download the recovery (you're choice) directly from the threads in the original development thread.
Flash those using recovery tools or mobile Odin (market), pc Odin...
Samsung and rom manager never got along with my sgs2 back in the day, but there are a lot of other easy ways.
Any reason you used rom manager?

I installed CWM through ROM Manager as well. Honestly cause it was easy and it is how I did it with my SGS2.
At this moment though everything is still repeatedly force closing and I cannot access any google apps and everything is sluggish.
When I installed TWRP from the official website, the tar file came in a zip folder that Odin (3v 3.09) was able to recognize and flash. TWRP would not create a back up so I decided to try CWM. However CWM did not come in a zip file, and Odin was unable to recognize it.
Because CWM's website stated that ROM Manager was the official preferred and safest way to install CWM, I used ROM Manager. Nothing was ever mentioned about it not playing nice with Samsung phones.
All is well now though. A factory reset was able to fix everything. I flashed back to stock just to be safe. I used CF Auto Root and flashed W03 Slim. TWRP was able to successfully create a nandroid. I created a clean install and will create another nandroid once I have all my apps set up.
Glad to hear it is back up and running. In the zip files you download, you can just extract the .img or .tar and flash using odin or recovery tools like I mentioned above. Rom manager usually works very well with international versions of phones but has been inconsistent in the past for US versions, and I don't think ever worked with cdma.
I say stick with the versions in the original development thread due to them being specifically made for our devices.

Hello all,
I haven't had this issue before, which is odd, because I have been using the same rooting techniques/rom/cwm/phone for a while, and former tech support employee. I simply can not install any rom. After it installs, it reboots and either stays on the samsung screen or sits on the samsung screen for a while and then goes back to cwm. I have tried reformatting my sd card. I have successfully used odin back to 2.1, upgrade to 2.2, root using one click (I have never tried to root on 2.3). Then upgrade cwm to 5.0.2.7 and the problem starts all over again. Any ideas? Please and thank you.

Have you tried using odin to load the pre rooted stock rom found here on the epic4g forum somewhere? From there, you can boot into CWM and install any rom you want. CWM will automatically be upgraded with the rom you install.
Formatting your sd wont do anything for you. I think the problem you are having is trying to install cwm using one click. One of the newer OTA releases over-writes this and puts back the stock sprint recovery.

Have you tried following this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2006687?
So I am still having a problem. Today I received my replacement device from Sprint. Exact same issue.
Originally the ROM was installed on my device, and I was getting some force close errors, so I ran "Wipe Data/Factory Reset" and reinstalled the ROM. It just sits on the Samsung logo for a while and then boots back to CWM.
So here we are again.
I ODIN flashed to Android 2.1, OTA update to 2.2, OneClickRootCWM3.1.0.1-EC05.zip to root, install CWM v. 5.0.2.7, and wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, and install the ROM and stuck on Samsung logo again. I am going to cry. I need my hotspot back and all my custom stuff.
What on earth am I doing wrong?

I know one click has an old (green) version of cwm but I update it via a zip file afterwords. I have tried to install the ROM before updating CWM as well.
I am starting to recall there were different version of Froyo e.g. DK28 and EC05 but I don't understand what my issue is because right now my device is sitting on CWM 5.0.2.7 and it actually goes through the installation procedure it just doesn't boot to it post installation.

What were the steps you did to root and get recovery on? It sounds like it might be a bad download.
You can also try this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588683
Hey guys,
I was running liquid smooth ROM along with Agni kernel. Some of the apps were FC so I wanted to refresh the ROM by wiping and flashing it back. I mistenly hit softreboot instead of recovery. The phone got stuck on the loading liquidrom screen forever.
Went into recovery, made a backup, wiped everything out. Restored the backup.. still stucked on loading screen.
Went back into recovery, wipe everything, I mean everything, even external SD.
When a came to boot the phone, recovery told me there was no ROM installed.. duh!
So I grabbed the stock firmware from sammobiles and went with Odin to flash it. But I'm getting stock on NAND write start. I tried a second computer, with lastest Kies installed. Same stuff.
Is there a reason why the stock firmware just won't flash?
I'm gonna need help on this one cause I'm out of ideas.
Thank you

Please see this thread I started yesterday: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...days-update-soft-bricked-phone-t2939649/page1. Many of us are having the same issue, and I was able to fix my Android last night.
Please spread the word.
