Hey there,
havin some trouble with the Busybox Installer.
When i start "Root Check" to check my root status its going to say me everything rooted!
tryin to install a new busybox (got 1.18.4 on my phone higher or lower version doenst matter!) a error messages pops up and says "failed to copy over busybox in /system/xbin/. if i try a second time "Failed to set permissions to busybox installer".
Now my root is turned "off". When i check again with Root Check again its says no root installed. I have to restart to get back root. Also if i dont restart the phone stucks a few minutes later...
Desire GSM Branded
Insertcoint
Rooted with Unrevoked
Bootloader 0.93 S-ON
Goldcard
Tried reinstall everything... back to Stock rom, reroot, install insertcoin and radio.
Do i need S-OFF?
Thanks!
*edit*
turned S-OFF with Revolutionary - doenst work!
Superuser v3.0.6 (40)
su binary v3.0.3
After getting S-OFF by revolutionary you have to flash the zip from the documentary page of revolutionary in recovery to get root access.
installed but doesnt work!

Alright first off.. I might NOT be stuck, I am just unsure because I am a noob at this! I want to be certain not to brick my phone or screw it up on this screen, so here is what I did step by step so far...
-Installed Hboot drivers successfully (android 1.0)
-Downloaded and installed unrevoked 3 recovery reflash tool v3.22
-Carefully proceeded with the steps from: [GUIDE] One Click How to Root EVO with Unrevoked 3.21 *NEW EVO'S WONT WORK 11.16.10* http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=787304
-I had my phone mounted as "Disk Drive" instead of "charge only" and didnt realize this untill I got to the clockworkmod recovery v2.5.0.1 screen. Unrevoked 3 went through the process from what I think is somewhat completed.. unrevoked went to a somewhat grey screen on my pc and displays:
Done.
Recovery image: clockworkmod recovery
-My HTC EVO phone came to a stop at ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.1 and has a menu with some options like reboot, apply sdcard:update.zip, wipe, install zip from SDcard, nandroid, partitions menu, advanced, and a ++go back++
-The step above is where my problem is.. When i got to that screen it read my SDcard and mounted it, then said installing DATA:local/unrevoked-forever.zip, then said found, opened, and displayed installing update...
-After that it displayed:
unrEVOked forever S-OFF patch v1.1
verifying system type...
E:unsupported radio version
E:update failed. Check /SDcard/soff.log.
E:error in /data/local/unrevoked-forever.zip (status 42)
Installation aborted.
/tmp/recovery.log was copied to /sdcard/clockworkmod/recovery.log. Please open ROM Manager to report the issue.
-STUCK, because I don't know what to do next, I thought it was a "1-click rooting process" ha.. I havnt touched anything on my pc or EVO since it came to this screen so can someone help me get past it..?
I just need some help on where to go from this menu. I am trying to root my phone. However it has a BAD ESN(which is why i am using this phone for learning how to flash, root, unlock, etc..) So idk if theres something special I need to do because it has a bad esn or if im just being too damn cautious, but like i said... Im a noob and dont want to brick my phone or waste time.

This usually means that you need to update the radio before you can use unrevoked-forever. Since it is possible to install the new radio using a zip you could just copy it to the sdcard and flash it, then after it completes you should try unrevoked again, it should work at that point.
So what option do I choose on the clockwork screen? its not going to mess the phone up since im backing out is it? also what files do you reccomend I put on my SDcard? the phone had a good ESN up to 12/10.
I just ended up clicking nandroid backup then clicked reboot and now I have supersuser permissions.. Im guessing I completed the root?
getting past E:unsupported radio version

I had this same issue when using simply the unrevoked 3.22 application. My radio is: 2.15.00.09.01
I needed to manually download the unrevoked-forever.zip, place it on my sdcard, and flash it using recovery. When you get to this point in the process, you should have an active recovery (like clockwork), that you can use for this.
What surprised me, was that I didn't even alter my radio. I had prepared to need to downgrade my radio, but it wasn't even necessary. Once I manually tried to flash unrevoked-forever.zip, it just worked.
You know it works if your bootloader shows (S-OFF)
I have an HTC Desire 2.1 CDMA with US Cellular. I tried rooting with unrevoked a couple of times with no sucess. procedure got to the clockworkmod recovery screen it showed:
E: unsupported radio
E: update failed
Installation aborted.
Short version of what it showed.
I had to pull the battery to get the phone rebooted and it is stock with the exception of a super user app that is blank when opened. How can remove the superuser app that does not work? I have tried a factory reset and it does not work. Or how can I get the rooting process to finish?

Since you already have ClockworkMod, just flash a custom ROM in. Nothing to it, really.
I dont think the rooting process completely finished. When the process stopped the phone was in the clockworkmod screen and said the installation aborted. I selected reboot but the screen just went to an android with a warning triangle. I had to pull the battery to get the phone to reboot. The superuser app that is in my phone is empty. I open it and there is nothing there it is just a blank screen with no options. So again I do not think the rooting process completed and I have tried a few other times with the same result. How can I know for sure if the root took?
Install "Android Terminal Emulator" from the market..Write "su" (without quotes) and if there are no errors and superuser app will ask the permission (accept it), means u have root permissions working..
The superuser app will contains a list of apps that requested root permission..If u didn't used any app that required root, the list is empty..
EDIT: Also, Installation aborted in the clockworkmod mean you was trying to install a custom rom or something, but means u already have root. The Installation aborted in the clockworkmod is not related to the root process
he means installation aborted on enrevoked program. he has no superuser access. something is preventing unrevoked from rooting your Desire. if you have htc sync, remove it but leave driver as is.
also download modified HBOOT drivers from unrevoked site. turn off desire and reboot in hboot mode(back button+power on) connect Desire and let it install the drivers. if it prompts for manual install, then point out where you extracted modified hboot drivers.
after drivers installation reboot in normal mode and rerun Unrevoked again to see if rooting proxess finishes.
report back.
Okay so I ran unrevoked it said root was a triumph then came up with an error (validation error: backup CID is missing) I then went on to manually root the phone by installing Amon-Ra from hboot. I successfully got it to install but then when I went to install SU from recovery it said installation failed signature not verified, or something like that. I then tried to install it from the market and it installed then I went into terminal emulator and typed in "su" (without ") and it did not change the prompt. I have hboot 2.10 and the newest software on my phone and s-off. Can someone please help.
Since you have S-OFF and a custom recovery, just flash a new ROM and call it a day.
[Guide] i want to root my HTC Desire
Froyo 2.2
Hboot 0.93
I tried Unrevoked but unsucessful as My Phone has no MISC folder in It.
how to create it or what could be the problem
Guide Please ASAP
Which unrevoked do you use? Did you install the modified HBOOT drivers (win)? What is your Desire's PVT version?
and please read through - the rooting process is many months old, almost all issues like this had been solved in previous threads.
I have used Unrevoked 3.21 3.31 and 3.32
Yes i have instaled the desired HBoot Drivers required by window..
I ad a problem first that CID backup is missing, b using adb i removed that error but while unrevoking is working it stops at One point Errors:
Cant Find: MISC
Can`t push\load recovery
etc etc
Its not finding MISC Folder on my phone memory and i have searched it its missing..
now im in a fix how to create it again .. and if i create it by sing adb will i be able to Root it.
Unrevoke is working well guess its the problem with
Missing MISC folder
Guide Please
Do you have USB debugging enabled?
But i found this by using SEARCH:
3. your problem is that your device misc partition is corrupted therefore unrevoked will not work.
apparently some people have had success by downgrading their hboot but its not something ive done.

Debugging is Enabled...
But stops at a point where one can Wipe out all the required Wipes
and also run upate.zip and eventually Gingerbrad 2.3.zip
If its corruped i should wipe out all things manually
It stops where menu is presented in Green
Regars
Unrevoked has no green menu. What are you talking about? You are in the recovery? CWM?
What is your PVT model (shown where HBOOT is).
What is the EXACT error you get?

Okay so here goes. I used to own HTC Explorer. I successfully rooted it and used many ROMS on it. Now I own Desire V. I decided to root it and flash a custom ROM. Here's what I have done so far. I used the HTCDev bootloader to unlock my phone. When I start my phone using the the Volume Down + Power button and try to select the Recovery option I cant seem to do so. I cant take any screenshots at the moment but here is what Im seeing. Once I click the power button to choose Recovery option, the screen reloads and shows a symbol which consists of a phone and a 'recycling shaped circle(to arrows forming a circle)'. Now ideally after this I should be sent to the recovery options (ie. install zip from sd, wipe data, recovery and backup etc.) But instead of this, I see another symbol, this time a phone and a RED EXCLAMATION MARK. So it seems that I cannot enter Recovery mode. I have not yet installed Superuser or the Clockwork mod. I try to do this by installing superuser and clockwork from play store (this time im running the phone normally (no fastboot or anything). Firstly I cant install the clockwork because it says superuser not found. I tried installing superuser from bootloader (install zip from sd) but I can enter the root mode hence I cant do it (in fact this is how I noticed that I cant enter the root mode). Note that when I start my phone on bootloader mode, it DOES say Unlocked at the top, hence I believe that the primary steps where you use the HTCDev site to unlock were succesfull. Im stuck at installing clockwork and superuser.
Also, when I try to uninstall bloatwares i cant do so saying permission was not granted (I believe this is because a a proper and complete rooting process requires installing superuser as well, which will grant me access) I installed Superuser from Play store (as mentioned above) like a normal app and also checked the settings in it for permission but it still wont let me uninstall. So forget installing custom roms, but I cant even delete bloatware without touching or removing the stock rom. Please DO NOT link me to the thread leading to HTC all in one root kit.
TLDR : Provide me with a short (if you are lazy to write a wall of text) tutorial on what to do after I unlock my bootloader from HTCDev site. I have not yet installed or updated clockwork mod, or superuser; also I cant enter recovery mode (one below fastboot option)
[SOLVED]
Ok I it was nothing big. Turns out I downloaded a corrupt copy of the clockwordmod.
