[Q] APK Decompiling - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't find twframework.apk to finish decompiling. Where is this file located?

I thought tw was touch wiz ?
I know framework-res.apk is in system/framework.

Oh I didn't know that... I was reading a guide on how to decompile an apk and it said to extract it. I tried running apktool without it but I just get an error.

Use a program called apk manager. It has the apktool already built in and it works flawlessly. Thats what I use for all my theming and editing of apks.

It's apkmanager on crack. Hehe. Just kidding. Apkmanager was awesome but I felt it needed some extra features. I wrote this from scratch and it has more features than most people need...but its all there.

thanks! i posted this thread in there for the exact font, got a response that someone will work on it so hopefully all is good! thanks for the lead!! (post thanked as well)
Took me a few minutes to figure out how to install them as i never had a need until this phone.
Basically go to the thread link above on your phone and download the ones you want. Then in the browser, bring up the menu and go to More->Downloads and then click the fonts you downloaded and install them.
Then go into the phone Settings->Display-_Screen Display->Font Style.
Easy!

I know im gonna be picking this to pieces.
The apps need deodexing but apparently its not possible without updated tools.
You should let us know if there is anything interesting you find in there..
also just a quick question.. if i try to build my own ROM. is there a app on the PC i can try it with to see if it will actually boot? rather than flashing my actual phone

If you don't know where to start, don't bother lol. I looked into it as well. The android kitchen doesn't do anything expect add busybox root deodex and stuff. It doesn't turn you into a dev overnight lol. I just decided to enjoy what other devs have made

Porting a rom is a whole different story than getting an RUU for the evo 4g and starting there.

Google is your friend. There's a lot out there.
I myself developed ROMs for myself. It really depends what you are looking to do. You can always modify a stock ROM or Port another ROM. they all require a lot of work, but they are a lot of flashable tweaks that you can just drop into you ROM and have the experience. You don't have to write your own code. Not too many ROM dev even write codes. They just modify and edit. Good Luck and always try Google.

hey bro you wouldnt happen to have a link to the skyraider rom. been looking for it a while now but links are dead.
U need :
A file zip exe like 7zip or something like that
Notepad
Patients
A base (another rom)
Internet
Hands
HTC evo 4G
Ull need a base like let's just uses cm7 as a example u go to system/apps or app delete apps that u don't want or don't need and add some apps that u like but before deleting apps check here»
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Barebones« and check to see which app u could delete or can't delete then ull need to go to here» http://uot.dakra.lt/kitchen/« to customize ur systemUI.apk and ur frameworks.apk then go to ur build.prop and open it using notepad and change stuff like ro.modversion"insert your Rom name" just look around there and change some stuff like names or stuff that was for cm7 to ur new custom made cm7 and once the rom kitchen is done cooking ur framework and system app replace the raw ones with the cook ones and then try using an android emulator to test ur new rom...please check out mine I need to get some likes to post in dev section and my rom is based off cm9 nightlies by Jmz Taylor and its great but please check this thread out comment like do something to monivate me http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1760012

I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY BRICK I'M JUST SHARING
This RLE is for those who wants custom splash on their beloved ACE.
Enjoy! This file is made by me. Haven't tested, I don't dare repacking boot.img
Rename *whatever* (#) .rle to COOPER.rle and put onto root folder.

At least please give some feedback.
EDIT: The Apple's got a white line on top, will fix later maybe because Flickr doesn't allow any copy-paste so I screenied it.

For making or putting it into ace?
Making:
1.) Grab a png file.
2.) Use the converter by DoomLoRD.
3.)
Code:
adb push #.rle sdcard
adb shell
su
rm COOPER.RLE
cp sdcard/#.rle /
##COMMENT DON'T WRITE RENAME #.RLE TO COOPER.rle this exact name##
*rename binary I don't know what it is * #.rle COOPER.RLE

Never heard of this "clear" before! Try installing cygwin again, and on the package selection window search for clear. Otherwise, I really don't know what is wrong.

ok there are different ways to install it all clearly laid out for you in the thread. I sugges take your time and read carefully. if you have rooted your phone then I dont see how this can be an issue. Honestly there are only a few ways to install anything android related:
Flash it - placing zip on sd card, booting into recovery and flash
install it - placing apk on sd card and clicking on it
Push it - done by using adb codes
Quite sure on that page its nothing more than flashing thru recovery since I have already done it.
