you could try formatting /system and reinstalling the rom to see if that helps.
or your button may be defective.

Lock your launcher in memory.

Thx guys. Problem fixed

most non stock launchers have a setting for stay in ram.
i could be wrong because i'm using the modified touchwiz 4.5
but i believe the stock touchwiz that comes on the phone does this by default.

Holding search button causes FC

Every time I hold the search button, it causes a force close. I suspect this is because I restored vlingo with TB upon setting up the phone (I didn't realize vlingo came on the phone). However, uninstalling vlingo has no effect. Also, I checked Vlingo, Voice Search, Voice command, etc., and I don't see any of them mapped to the search button (I can't click clear defaults on any of them). Is there a way to tell what is mapped to the search button, and change it?
Thanks
Might have something to do with the lockscreen/AIO mod that's been included with recent roms. Mine does the same thing, it's just buggy.

Good thought. I did run the AIO mod. I am running the stock kernel currently, but it's rooted.

Are you on Starburst rom? If so you need to go into lockscreen settings and map an application to the long hold search. This should eliminate the FC.

I'm on the stock rom, but your suggestion worked! I didn't realize that's where the mapping was. Thank you so much!

No worries, glad it worked.

Launcher default issues

This started happening to me out of no where. Can anyone think of a solution or the cause of this issue ?
Everytime I hit the home key it will ask me to choose a default launcher. After I do, it will ask me again every time I hit my home key.
Im choosing Touchwiz, the other option is Go home since it comes with my rom.
I'm running Calkulins 2.9.2 rom.
I have uninstalled apps related to Widgets and launchers, cleared defaults etc..
How could I uninstall the go home app completely? Maybe that will do it.
Thanks in advance everyone !

First, you are checking the default checkbox before you select the launcher after pressing home right?
Yes. lol
I could only wish it was that simple.
Its not really a big deal but after a while its annoying having to push an additional button.

Well, just use root explorer or something to delete the application, or just use like titanium backup and un install it that way

Space button = silent?

As I look at my keyboard, I see that my hard keyboard has a silent icon on the spacebar in the top corner. Does this mean that it is a silent icon? If so, how do I use it?
Same here, I'm super curious I've tried everything I could think of, Maybe if I figure it out ill tell you but I know someone is gonna beat me to it:/

Unlock your phone, slide out the keyboard out and hold the space bar. It would put your phone in silent/vibrate and press/hold the space bar again to return back to the volume level. This somehow doesn't work if the phone is locked or in the music player.

I tried that, and all it did was open a search page that started filling with spaces...I am using LPP as a launcher if it matters.

Just tried switching my launcher back to TouchFLO, and it worked. Must be built into the stock launcher.

[Q] Home Screen Redraw

Anyone else notice the home screen redraw? Granted, it is much better/faster than ICS and prior, however JB was supposed to eliminate the issue. For those that don't know what this is, it is that funky shift that you get when coming back to the home screen from another app. It is most noticeable with a wallpaper that is not a solid color, and widgets. For example, if I am at the home screen and pull down the menu bar, go into settings, then hit the home button, I fly back to the home screen quickly, but there is a 1 to 1.5 second shift from the left and then right side as the screen redraws to fit everything.
The question....is this a result of a custom grid size, or is this something else? I am using Jedi with the 5x5 TW launcher. TIA.
I'm not noticing anything and I'm using the same rom

Interesting. Are you using any kind of rotation control, or just the default Jedi config?

Here's a quick video of the issue. Of course, it wasn't as pronounced as I have been seeing it, but you can definitely see what I mean here.

Have you tried getting off of the 5x5 launcher to see if that fixes it?
i had issues with widgets doing some moving and cut offs when i used that. just a thought.

Yeah, that didnt do it. If you note in the video, the clock widget isn't affected. It is really the wallpaper that is shifting around.

Yeah I tried recreating what you had going on earlier, I had the xda app AND pulled down the notification drawer even, hit the home button, and it was perfectly normal. Does it do it with other wallpapers?

Thanks dude. It looks like it is Jedi Home (TW) that is doing this. I switched to Nova and the problem does not appear. I also just tried deleting a blank home screen page from TW before I switched to Nova, and Jedi Home FC'd. Something is whacky. But I have seen this behavior with other ROM's and launchers too, so...it's a mystery at the moment.

Maybe try doing a clean flash? 3.3 was my very first install of Jedi so I followed all his instructions with full wipe, system wipe etc and have 0 problems.
Might be time, indeed.

[Q] Unable to take screenshots.

For some reason I'm unable to take a screen shot with both the palm gesture and the T-Mobile recommended way (power + home)
I'm on stock, non rooted, using Nova Launcher. I was having the same issue before using Nova as well.
Has anyone else run into this issue?

So it seems it was a user error on my part. I wasn't holding the buttons down long enough.
Thanks for the help.
