I am new to CDMA. I have a lot of experience with my GSM Touch (Elf) but I think it is something different between falshing a GSM Touch and CDMA Touch.
Like if I flash my CDMA touch, will my phone number gone? How can I just flash a new ROM without lost my carrier and phone number? What should I do to start flash my CDMA touch? Is it after flashing a custom ROM I could release the internal GPS?
I am in New Zealand and service provider is Telecom. Please pointing me the way to go. Thanks
ROMs for this device are usually carrier specific. Typically, you'll flash to a specific ROM, without letting carrier customization run, for the Radio upgrade. Then flash the custom ROM. Most cooks do carrier specific ROMs, but it's usually for Sprint, VZW, Bell, so I'm not sure about your situation. Just browse through and you'll find something.
Just make sure you DO NOT let the carrier customiztion run after flash, unless the cook has replaced it with a SDConfig, otherwise you could lose data functions.
Dear All
first of all, sorry for my bad language.
my problem started when i purchased an used Inc2 from swappa, i am expert in flashing ROMs for HTC phones.
when i got the phone, i s-off, installed recovery and installed custom ROM supports GSM, as i am living outside USA, and everything was good (GSM and data)
one day, suddenly the phone was not able to get a H data, only E, so i decided to factory reset to solve the problem, i return to stock ROM using RUU, then when i turn it on for the first time i discovered that its still connected to verizon Network and gave me a roaming signal, i know nothing about verizon network or how to disconnect my phone from their service.
don't tell me to contact the original owner, because i purchased this phone more than one year ago and i totally forgot from whom i toke it.
THE MAIN PROBLEM NOW, every time i insert my local SIM, the phone switch from roaming mode (CMDA) to global mode (GSM), which is OK, but when i receive or make a call, it restarts automatically !!!!
i had tried all the ROM, RUU, radios in the development section, with no hope, so, i think the problem is occur from the conflict between CMDA signal an GSM signal!!!???!! or something else, so i guess the first thing i have to do is disconnect the verizon service, BUT HOW?? somebody please help me
any thoughts folks?
Can you post your phone's settings, mainly the ones under "About Phone" including kernel, mobile network type, service state & software information, etc.?
With a local Sim card, it is possible that you device would boot up & switch to Global Mode (by default) with preference for CDMA, but you should be able to manually change it & semi-lock it to GSM only? What happens when you tried that?
There is a # of GSM only Rom that you can flash, assuming you've rooted it again & maintained S-Off with a custom recovery re-installed - and, that it was properly Sim unlocked.
Im on GSM with chilly's beanstalk 1.30 (4.2.2) and I have no problems, check if a wipe with antivenomSDW, helps.

so i installed TWRP on mu unlocked and S-OFF phone, and rooted the phone. then from the recovery, i made a nandroid backup, wiped the phone, and installed this ROM. even though all traces of Verizon software is now wiped off the phone (i hope!), it still only connects when the Verizon SIM card is in (and it shows the Roaming sign; fyi, i am in Canada now). it won't give me a voice nor a data connection with my Telus SIM card nor with my Rogers SIM card. so, i went into recovery, wiped cache, and afterwards, the phone was stuck in the boot...i had to go to recovery again, wipe everything, and restore my nandroid backup. the phone is now back to stock Verizon software, and it still only connects when the Verizon SIM card is in. it should at least give me voice connection with the Telus or Rogers SIM card, but it won't. something must have happened to the radio when i flashed the ROM, and i can't figure it out.
do you guys have any troubleshooting ideas? can anybody guide me towards a fix/troubleshooting method? i'd appreciate any help...

This ROM is still very early and has some bugs. Making it work for people not using it on Verizon isn't a concern of Santods at the moment. Switch to something that does work for you until he gets the rom further along.

thank you all for your help. it's not just APN though; with that ROM, i cannot even have a voice connection, let alone data. and even though i restored my stock backup (and now running the original ROM that came with the phone), the voice still doesn't work; it only functions with a Verizon SIM card.

Well.. when you were on cm you couldn't get any service? Is your carrier lte/cdma or gsm based? Are you showing global mode when on cm? It also can be a case where some qpst work needs done to enable the extra radio bands needed to pickup your carrier.

i'm guessing by CM you mean CyanogenMod, right? if so, i was never on CM. i was using the stock ROM (4.4.3, Sense 6.0, Verizon bloatware), and then i flashed the Lollipop ROM by santod. the phone initially could connect to Rogers and i had voice and very slow (i.e., EDGE) data speeds, but after flashing the ROM, my phone lost the ability to provide any sort of voice connection except when i'm using my old Verizon SIM card (that shows the Roaming icon, because i'm in Canada now).
i could try CM, if you think it has less possible bugs. do you suggest i do a factory reset while on stock ROM and then flash CM?

Yes. Factory reset on stock recovery. Then flash twrp and sideload the latest cm build. I would probably stay with cm11 for now too.

Well you can do a factory reset on stock Rom and let it boot up and then copy cm over to phone storage for flashing.....or...adb sideload.
When you boot into twrp under the advanced options there's an adb sideload feature. Once the phone is in this mode you can use you pc to send a Rom over using the command "adb sideload nameofROM.zip". Your pc will send the Rom over and the phone will flash it once it's copied over.
Backup the internal sd card of your phone before you factory reset. I've forgotten so many times it isn't funny.

ok, i did all that with MDMower TWRM 2.7.1.2 this time. CM11 is up and running now, but i still have the same issue. my Telus and Rogers SIM cards lead to a "No Service" icon, whereas my old Verizon SIM gives the Roaming indicator. funny thing is that with all three SIM cards, the correct set of APNs is loaded by default when i boot the phone, but selecting those APNs don't change anything. i also tried Global, GSM only, WDCMA preferred, and some combinations of those modes to no avail (the only SIM that leads to service is Verizon's). it seems like the phone is hard-coded for that particular SIM card, no matter what.
any other ideas? could the radio have become corrupted somehow during unlocking/S-OFF'ing/flashing? if so, what is a workaround for this?

I would bet they are using a frequency that's not currently unlocked on your radio. There is a lengthy how to posted on Google about how to enable Qualcomm radio bands.

aha, great! i know that Verizon HTC One M7 uses
CDMA 800/1900 MHz
GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900MHz
UMTS/HSPA 1900/2100MHz
LTE 700MHz (Band 13)
according to this Wikipedia page, Telus has a HSPA+ network on 850/1900 MHz (so at least the 1900 Mhz band should give me something, shouldn't it?), it has CDMA service that's supposed to shut down completely in 2015 (it is out of service in some places in Canada, but i'm not sure about my area), but has no GSM service at all.
thanks for the tip about enabling radio bands; i'll search for it...
All,
I have an M9 unlocked edition and after the upgrade to marshmallow my international data roaming with Tmobile quite working. I still get all other roaming benefits from Tmobile, but the data just says disconnected.
Everything was working well before the upgrade and it is unclear if there is a new setting I am missing or if this release is incompatible with Tmobiles data roaming.
I have the APNs set as they were before the upgrade, and mobile roaming is checked. Does anyone know what I would try next?
Thanks Fred
Are you full stock, or did you unlock, S-Off, flash a custom ROM? Those are important informations to track down your problem.

It is fully stock and was upgraded from KK to Marshmallow while via an over the air update while my friend was working overseas.
So more information, and I am not out of the country right now, but with roaming selected the mobile data submenu shows that everything is connected an fine, but the setting menu for mobile data says "disconnected". When a SIM is not in the phone the message is "disconnected because services is unavailable"
Trying more things before trying to reflash the software.
Thanks for anyhelp.
All FYI we remedied this situation by using the older tmobile apn settings but it was only necessary for some phones not the newer htc.

So no more issues??
I have a Verizon HTC One M8 which must work on an international GSM/LTE network.
I bought it on ebay and it was working before I tampered with it. It was giving notifications about non-Verizon sim, so I tried to fix that by flashing a custom ROM.
However, now there is no signal at all)).
Please give me a hint or a piece of lazy advice.
Settings > Mobile data > Preferred Network
If what above is said ,does not work,(you select gsm network and it revert back to CDMA immediately then it maybe a firmware/ROM problem, that sometimes happens with me,try flashing lollipop firmware again, and a lollipop/mm ROM that never failed you in the past.in my case vanir aosp often give me those problems, flashing turbo ROM solves it.)
Agree with the above that no signal after flashing a ROM on the Verizon version, is often due to outdated firmware.
Also, make sure the ROM supports the Verizon version, as many don't (and can also cause issues).
The Verizon version is SIM-unlocked from the factory, so I would think the notifications of the non_VZN SIM could just be dismissed? Or did they actually prevent the function of the phone (with the non_VZN SIM)?
Nah ,I think he meant everything was working before he tempered with it,so you were right,he could have dismissed it.but curiosity can be trouble maker and solver both.hehe
