All,
I have an M9 unlocked edition and after the upgrade to marshmallow my international data roaming with Tmobile quite working. I still get all other roaming benefits from Tmobile, but the data just says disconnected.
Everything was working well before the upgrade and it is unclear if there is a new setting I am missing or if this release is incompatible with Tmobiles data roaming.
I have the APNs set as they were before the upgrade, and mobile roaming is checked. Does anyone know what I would try next?
Thanks Fred
Are you full stock, or did you unlock, S-Off, flash a custom ROM? Those are important informations to track down your problem.

It is fully stock and was upgraded from KK to Marshmallow while via an over the air update while my friend was working overseas.
So more information, and I am not out of the country right now, but with roaming selected the mobile data submenu shows that everything is connected an fine, but the setting menu for mobile data says "disconnected". When a SIM is not in the phone the message is "disconnected because services is unavailable"
Trying more things before trying to reflash the software.
Thanks for anyhelp.
All FYI we remedied this situation by using the older tmobile apn settings but it was only necessary for some phones not the newer htc.

I finally got my internet sharing and MMS working on my unlocked Rogers Lumia 900 running on Bell. Earlier this week, I came across this page. http://forums.wpcentral.com/lumia-900/197920.htm. If you follow his instructions (minus the unplugging the cable during the rom flashing), you should have working internet sharing and MMS without having to input any APN settings. The first time I started it with the TelCel rom, I still had to input my APN to get data to work. Then I performed a hard reset by holding volume down, power, and camera buttons. After that, it picked up the correct settings from the sim card and everything works as it's supposed to. The only downside to some people is that now instead of showing "LTE" in the status bar, it shows "4G" and instead of "4G" when you are on the HSPA network, it shows an "H". I think this is a truer representation of the network you are on anyways since HSPA isn't a true 4G network like the American companies would have us believe.
Please note that if you are going to do this, you will lose any unsynced data on your phone and will also have to reinstall all your apps so backup what you need to.

Seems interesting. I will wait for the 7.8 version to come out. I wouldn't want my phone to be stuck at 7.5 for some reason after trying this.

If for some reason it doesn't update to 7.8, you could always just flash the stock Rogers rom back to your phone and then get 7.8.

Have no problem with 4G, sharing and MMS on original AT&T firmware (using my lum with Europe operators).
Could it be a SIM card flag that prevents the sharing, the euro ops SIMS dont have it
Could it be a SIM card flag that prevents the sharing, the euro ops SIMS dont have it but the NA ops do?

May be, may be... But I had problem too with this features, when it worked on a 1st firmware (flashed by AT&T, not by me). Then I decided to flash it on my own via Care Suite (had flashed the earliest firmware, then updated via Zune). Now it works without any problems. After flashing try to not use the Nokia's Network Setup. If sharing would be OK, you could install NNS on your choice
It works for me after doing a hard reset with t) mobile, if I run NetworkSetup then it stops working. If I insert my att sim then it also stops working.

One more datapoint...
Recently unlocked, using Taiwan Cellular unable to tether.
Before installing Network Setup receive message: no data connection found...
After installing Network Setup, "to enable tethering on this device, go to att.com...".
Same SIM card in HD7 allows internet sharing... no problem. So it's not the SIM.
On HD7, data connection shows "H" but on Lum900 showing "4G"... (not a problem, just observation)
Have hard reset with Taiwan SIM, no joy. Reflashed using Nokia Care Suite... same results.
1. It's clear, stay away from Network Settings app. Even overriding APN settings results in same bogus ATT message.
Any point in flashing a pre-8779 rom? One of the TelCel MX or Claro LTE roms?
To flash another RM808 carrier's rom on top of an ATT RM808 device, is it a straight flash with NCS or need to rename files?

Hi,
I was wondering if Custom Roms come with a radio image? - The reason is I installed google play edition on my phone and didn't remove the radio image. This basically didn't allow my phone to see my mobile phone provider Optus (Australia).
I couldn't find a Optus Radio Image so I trade a Telstra one I found.
I can now receive and sent sms messages and phone calls.
The problem is that I don't get any mobile data and my phone says it is not connected to the internet.
I am currently on 4.4.4 GPE but will change back to sense, but hoping the custom roms contains a radio image compatible with my mobile phone provider.
under settings I get
Mobile network Stage
Disconnected

Okay - the apn is blank - so I just need to get the APN settings for my provider Vaya.

I got Verizon Note 4.
Verified that it is unlocked. Not stolen. No contract binded from Verizon store and through phone (Clean phone)
Android Version : 5.0.1
Location: Las Vegas
Insert AT&T sim card. No signal.
Change APN setting following the information on AT&T website. Still not working. No signal.
At&t store rep. said I need to l unlock the phone ( I already check with Verizon via phone and store)
Verizon rep. on phone said: I should be able to use the phone with At&t sim card
Verizon Rep. in store said : Galaxy note 4 won't work on AT&T. It needs to be rooted by an expert. Only Galaxy S5 or later version will work.
I searched websites and many say that they are using Verizon Note 4 on AT&T network (At&t sim card)
I just need to use phone and text message. No data needed.
Anybody can help me?
I was able to use SIM from AT&T before yesterday, but after trying to update the firmware using Software Upgrade Assistant tool on Windows 10, it's now stuck at 'searching for service'.
Did you change the network settings from global to lte/GSM?
I am reading this. Maybe a solution.
Did you try to insert a different carrier sim card and entering the unlock code?
---------- Post added at 09:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:24 PM ----------
After reading post i see you have a att sim sim on verizon phone. This could be a problem as verizon and att dont play nice. Stupid question is did you actually pay for service?

Yeah. Me either.
Did you do a factory reset after software update. Usually helps. Also mess with APN settings. Reboot after changing APN.
Problem solved.
Changing APN settings and reboot did not work. I just inserted the Verizon SIM came with the phone and made a phone call. Of course it's not activated, so I hang up when it reached Verizon automated system. Guess what, now SIM from Lycomobile works. H2O Wireless SIM also works. It means that it now can work with AT&T and T-Mobile network.

I'm in a similar boat as you (4.4.4 on Cricket Wireless, wanting to upgrade to 5.1.1). I just want to make sure I understand what you did to restore service:
1. You had phone working on AT&T with an older Android version (KK?)
2. You upgraded to a newer version via the Verizon upgrade tool (I assume 5.0.1 since 5.1.1 is not yet available via the tool)
3. You lost AT&T service after upgrade
4. You were able to restore AT&T service by using an inactive Verizon SIM and making a phone call
Is this correct? TIA

Mostly, except that I tried to upgrade from 5.0.1 to 5.1.1, but found that 5.1.1 was not yet available via the tool, but the process of installing the software on windows 10 and maybe I also used the Verizon SIM during the process which might have messed something up. I updated the firmware to 5.1.1 by downloading the zip file in a thread here and flashed it through recovery. The network connection problem was then solved by making a phone call with the SIM came with the phone.

I just updated via the Verizon tool (BPA1 finally showed up) and it was, surprisingly, perfectly fine. I first backed up as much as I can (via Smart Switch and Helium app), then pulled my mSD card, left my SIM card in the phone, and proceeded to update. After the first boot stuff (app optimization, etc.) I soon saw the AT&T sign in the notification bar, and I was able to make a phone call without doing anything else. With all the reports of SIM card locking after updating I was worried that I might run into the same issue, but was pleasantly surprised that I didn't. I had to re-enter the APN setting as the upgrade seemed to have removed it, but after re-adding Cricket's APN I was able to get cellular data as well.
Thanks again for your help
You need to access the hidden menu and change your radio and modem protocols. There's a forum on XDA called domestic and internation sim or network unlock for spring but should work the same on verizon
fyi, i got my note 4 working on gsm using 2 different freedompop sims-the at&t lte sim gets lte via band 4.
the global sim based on t-mobile did get hpsda+
just change the apn
I have an unlocked HTC 10, running Android 7.0 (2.51.617.32), I have it rooted with S-Off. In the states I had also modified it to use it on Verizon, besides that it is stock. I am currently doing a job in Nicaragua and decided to get a local sim though CLARO Mobil, phone should be compatible on band 4. Unfortunately, I get no data connection.... I have tried manually setting an APN, as well as playing with the setting on the 'secret menu' (*#*#4636#*#*) no luck thus far I either get 'emergency calls only', or voice and text with Data Technology on disconnected or at one point saying connecting but never successfully. Thoughts?
I picked up an HTC 10 partially on the premise of all the international bands it has and the potential for international connections.
Bumpity Bump Bump?
Bumpin' for a new hope
I'm in the El Salvador

That did it! Thank you! I guess rewriting the radios to Verizon's isn't in harmony with international travel.
Is there any way to get wifi calling on att with an unlocked s9 from best buy? Flashing att firmware or would it be best to get the att model? Must have wifi calling for work reasons and I hate all the bloatware but might not have a choice.
at&t probably blocks it, if you don't get their version. I have an unlocked, but on T-Mobile, and it works.
I flashed the AT&T firmware on my unlocked S9 and wifi calling and video calling worked.
With the stock firmware on the unlocked S9 nether option was there
Can you point me in the direction of a download for the stock firmware for AT&T? I'm wanting to do the same as well, but feeling pretty clueless about where to obtain it. thanks!
Same here. It works for me on T-Mobile
If I flash the att firmware will I still get firmware updates?

if you flash the att firmware or buy it straight from att you will end up a device supporting the same capabilities. So it's down to your tech skills or budget.
Where can I find the latest att firmware? I did not see it on sammobile.
How to
Step 1 Go to this thread for Firmware (thanks @iBowToAndroid)
You will want to go to the link for the U firmware and find the folder with the AT&T userdata file (RB7) download the user data file and the full firmware.
Step 2 Go to this thread to get the modified version of Odin that recognizes the GS9 firmware files. (Thanks @mweinbach and Raymondf )
You will then flash the downloaded files from Step 1 in Odin, after flashing the firmware the phone will boot into recovery and you will need to wipe data and cache.
Thanks so much... that did actually help me... as a fairly tech savvy person who doesn't really get into this stuff much, the lingo I didn't know was leading me astray... I had come across that thread but didn't recognize it as anything that would help me. Thanks again! Onward to bricking my phone!

I have unlocked version on TMobile and wifi calling works just fine.
Do you have to flash the att firmware to the unlocked version in order to get VoLTE? I don’t care about WiFi calling, just hd calling and being able to stay on lte when making a call, rather than have it drop to HSPA during the call.

I understand, but unless att has changed its policies in the last month, if u do not have an imei number on that account that is an att phone with wifi calling it will turn itself off as soon as your phone is interrogated by the network. Theres 100 threads on it , applies to unlocked s8, s7, etc...
Toggle is there because of firmware, not because it works.

Any help/guidance for me??
I have tried a few times to use the March 2018 RB7 files with the ATT user data to get my phone to ATT stock - primarily for the Enhanced LTE (data and voice at the same time), as well as Wifi Calling. I can't get that version to load. I did get a more recent version to load (RK1) - and maybe that is the issue. Just wondering if there is a newer set of files and what specifically I should use (AP,BL... UserData) to get the phone fully set to AT&T. I now have the wifi calling option, just can't get it enabled. Any help is appreciated.
