Corrupt files with verifying ... :(

Hi,
I rooted myt HTC Hero and I'm trying to install a custom rom.
With EVERY rom I get:
Verifying update package ...
E:Corrupt file:
system/lib/libwebcore.so (this is random!)
E: Verification failed
Installation aborted
What am I doing wrong ? I reformatted my SD card, but nu luck ...

What recovery are you using?
Try upgrading to the latest Amon recovery or make one yourself.
AND/OR
you can try re-signing the zip file yourself.

I'm not recoverything anything .. just installing a custom rom through update.zip ...

Could be your SD card, or it may be that you've been "opening" the update.zip on your PC.

Nope... tried 4 different SD card and 4 rom's ... not openend om my pc ....

Hiya mate,
I had the same problem trying to install Villain rom 2.0.1 - it turned out it was a dodgy download of the rom file (even though i didn't notice any errors when i downloaded it). Try to redownload it again and see if that fixes it.
Also something to mention is that the corrupt version seemed to happen only when i used a download manager to get the file.

[Q] Phone Stuck :/ helpppppp

I've researched, maybe not hard enough but I am to a point where I don't know what to do. Call me dumb but this is my extra phone and was testing on it. Here is what happened.
I was attempting to do data2sd and cleared the sd card as asked then in clockwork I don't remember what I cleared but clearly the wrong thing and now I can get into recovery and hit "apply update.zip" and then it says it can't apply update.zip
So basically can't boot my phone up. I can only go into hboot and recovery and that's it. Am I out of luck?

if you cleared the contents of your sdcard, you deleted the update.zip that you had on it.
Put the clockworkmod update.zip back on your sdcard.
Then you can get back in clockwork and flash a new rom or do whatever you want in clockwork

yes put the clockwork recovery update.zip back into your memory card and try again,also try putting a rom you are going to use as well

what EXACTLY did you do in clockwork to **** things up in the first place?
That will really help a lot to know. What EXACTLY did you do to try and get data2ext working?
Because it failing sig verification means one of two things, 1: you have the wrong update.zip or 2: you don't have the ENG hboot anymore.
If you lost the ENG hboot you are ****ed.

**** I don't remember what I did, but it was long ago. I got it working, turns out using a blackberry to transfer my files onto my SD card didn't work, that's why it couldn't find update.zip because it wasn't actually there when it said it was. So I went and bought a USB with a SD plugin and it transferred correctly.

2nd time rom install help?

hi guys & girls,
i rooted my phone and installed oxygen-2.0.1 about a month ago but im getting a bit bored of that rom now so decided to change it heres where im getting confused?
i put my phone in recovery, done a data/factory reset
mounted usb so my sd card was synced dragged over the rom i wanted to try which RCMIxHD_v3.5 (as a rar file) then i renamed it to update.zip unmounted sd card then applyed the sdcard:udpate.zip let it do its thing then i rebooted.
all it does is reboot as a freash install of oxygen-2.0.1 what am i doing wrong
help would be great on this
im using a htc desire phone (forgot to add if that helps)

Put your new rom on sd card-make sure it is a .zip file-even though it may be associated with winrar,no need to rename it.
Choose install zip from sd card and then choose zip option to find the new rom ,then install it.(If it fails to install then toggle signature verification off)
Press back button and choose reboot system now.

If it's a rar file you need to extract the .zip file inside of course.

it starts to run and then hits me with installation aborted E can 't open/sdcard/blablabla (rom im trying to install)

System Restore / Fix booting loop

Sprint Logo repeating and repeating on you? Mine was too, here is a set of instructions that even a n00b like myself can follow to fix that. We'll simply be restoring the system software/ROM on your phone. There are other instructions listed, but don't include step-by-step instructions.
Keep in mind that this requires bubby's recovery, which is the ACS version. You can not mount USB on other recoveries (yet).
Boot into CWM
(Hold down Power and Up arrow until it appears)
Connect your phone to your computer with the data cable
Go to mounts and storage
Then mount sd card
Then do mount usb storage (second to last option)
and download the files linked inside this post:

unzip it into a folder in the following location on the root of the phone's sd card:
/clockworkmod/backup/(any folder name)
so it would look like clockworkmod/backup/folder/ (files)
This is IMPORTANT, it must be in clockwordmod, then backup, then ANY folder name. If you leave the files in just "backup" it will give an error no files found.
Then do a wipe your data/factory reset
Then do a wipe cache
Then go to the backup and restore menu
and then the restore, will be whatever you named the folder that you unzipped the files to.
Let it finish, choose reboot and you should be good to go!
If you want to avoid losing your data in the future, follow these steps to make a full system backup as often as you'd like:
go back into cwm, goto the backup and restore menu again
then press backup
You can keep multiple backups
Again, I take no credit for this, just passing along the information. Hope this saves someone else's day!

first of all i am a noob. i followed the steps perfectly but i am not sure how to access the internal memory from my PC although i have CWM in usb mount mode. please help so i can put the file on my phone

I am also having an issue getting my pc to show the phone as a mass storage device so I could put the recovery file on the phone, I have tried both bubbys kernel which does not have clockwork mod and zedomaxV3 and when I mount usb storage though clockwork mod I get nothing on my pc so I am unable to put the recovery file on my phone. please help

Going to repost I resolve my own issue, there are two things I did to finally get my pc to see my phone so I'm not sure which resolved, First which is what I think solved it was be sure you don't have a drive like and dvd-rom drive or flash drive with a assigned letter of E: or F: if you do Google how to change it. And the second thing I did was reflash with zedomaxV3 and let it restart to the boot animation automatically then I unplugged and pulled battery and put battery back in and plugged usb back in and boot to animation again, then restart and mount in clockwork mod.
I hope this helps anyone else.

I made a nandroid backup in cmw v5, installed AE mod rom, didnt like it, booted, and I got cwm v4? ...and my restore/backup file no longer exists.
I cannot unzip the files to the phones folder: /clockworkmod/backup/folder/ (files) because I dont have a folder understand name at all.
This is my first time rooting, Iam still stuck with a looping SPrint loop boot screen.
Any suggestions?

OMG! Thank you so much! I had bricked my phone and this worked when other methods did not! It only took me 16 hours to research and try different methods. You are awesome! Back to factory so now I can hopefully find a good root and rom.

Real Big Problem

Hey Everyone,
I tried my hands on installing cyanogenmod 11 for xperia m. Did not take the backup of the current ROM, and did not transfer the package file to the SD card. However, the Fastboot and Unlocking BootLoader went fine.
Now the situation is, Current ROM erased, no backup, cant seem to install the cyanogenmod package either by "Sideload" or "Push and install".
While trying the SideLoad method, i get the error "E: can't open tmp/update.zip" .
Dont know where to start and how to revert back. Please can someone here help me?

Seems like you messed up with your phone and i think i have a solution for that.
Firstly as u have mentioned that your bootloader is unlocked .
Download Androxyde XPERIA Flashtool from here.
Then install it on your PC , later install Fastboot and Flashtool Drivers (the .exe file will be there in c:\flashtool\flashtool drivers,u need not download separately) , as u are using Sony Xperia M , Check Flashtool drivers , Fastboot Drivers and Drivers for Xperia P,S when prompted.
Then Connect your Phone in Fastboot Mode ( by holding Volume Down button ,check for ur phone ) and Flash the recovery.img / boot.img which will be in the Zip file of CM11. Download Gapps for your phone Then copy the zip file and the gapps.zip into your sdcard and put that sdcard into ur phone and boot via recovery(holding volume up button). Then Do the following
Wipe factory/data cache
wipe cache partition
wipe dalvik cache
go to install zip>install from sdcard1>select ur Cm11 file
In the same way Flash Gapps too
reboot and Enjoy
It worked for me and i am sure it will work for u too. if it didnt i am so sorry i cant help u.plz msg me if u have any doubts

Sorry for being late, i kinda made it. I was only working with the Boot.img file and not the whole zip package. Copied the Zip to the SD and installed CM11.
Although i have one more question.
Internal is still 2.05, whereas Xperia M has 4gb of internal.
And also is there any way to swap internal with external in CM11. i have a 16gb SD Card.
