Different Boot image after CWM - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Anyone else notice this? Once I installed the stock kernel packaged with CWM my boot image changed from the regular "Samsung Galaxy S II" to the Galaxy S II i9100 boot image (listed as logo.jpg in /mnt/.lfs). Is there a way to get back the original one without wiping CWM? Also any idea when well get CWM that's not kernel dependent?

Is there a yellow triangle under it

If you use a jig it will remove the yellow triangle and the i-9100.

No, well yes but I know about that. The actual image says "Samsung Galaxy S II GT I9100". I know about the yellow triangle but does the boot image change also? I thought the only change was the yellow triangle appearing?

No that also changes when you root

Do the yellow triangle fix and it will go back to stock boot image

I just switched back to the stock kernel for now with no CWM. The soft brick everyone got from updating with chris41g's kernel kind of forced my hand. No yellow triangle and back to the stock boot image for now.

Well now go buy a jig so when you do reflash a kernel you can get rid of the triangle and the gt i-9100. I'm on Chris' older version of the stock kernel with cwm and the jig got rid of both the yellow triangle and the gt i-9100. You can get them on eBay from an American seller for about 5-7 bucks, cheaper if it ships from Hong Kong

what about chris' proof of concept yellow triangle removing process. Why would you buy a jig if you can do that one time and flash away in CWM. Please explain to me a noob to Samsung the benefits of a jig over a 5 minute process... thx

I would actually like to know this too. Coming from HTC, using a JIG is generally something you never hear of. I know if you have a TRUE brick, using a JIG can recover it but other than that does it really have a use?

It also resets the binary counter to 0. So it appears like you never flashed a custom rom or kernel. Of you go into download mode it keeps a count of how many times the phone has been flashed. This sets it to 0 so even if you have a custom rom or kernel it appears as if you never flashed a thing. So the jig not only removes the yellow triangle and gt i-9100 it also resets the flash counter

I'll probably get one then. It seems they're more useful with Samsung phones than HTC, seen quite a few threads related to using one with them anyway.

[Q] Flashed rogue recovery in pda mode, oopsie, radio borked-Fixed!

[Q] So I wasn't paying attention closely enough and I had phone selected when i flash cwm rogue recovery/kernel. Not I get a yellow triangle during the Samsung Galaxy S II screen and my radio seems borked cause it's got a big zero through where the signals bar and 3g is. Tried a few things with not much luck. Any Ideas? Thanks
Update: So I reflashed the autoroot, didn't help, but after I did a full wipe and flashed to another rom, I booted and saw the yellow triangle, however this time I had working radio/modem. In my haste I also realized I flashed to the bootloader as well which I assume is the cause of my yellow triangle. Not sure about the triangle but seems to be back to normal otherwise.
Odin a stock Rom, start it up and update prl and profile, then Odin a custom Rom. Did the same thing when I first rooted... Hope this helps !
Epic-ly tapped from my Galaxy S II
Thanks, just saw this, downloading stock .tar gonna see if that fixes my triangle problems.
the yellow triangle is from flashing unsigned roms. I believe there is a thread on how to remove it in dev section. or like me you can grab a jig off ebay and reset it.
To be more specific, if you odin flash a kernel not signed by samsung (ie any kernel with cwm or any recompiled kernel) you'll get the yellow triangle.
Flashing roms will not trigger the yellow triangle, only kernels.
To get rid of the yellow triangle you can odin flash a stock kernel using any of the odin links in my signature. See the 2nd post fora download for just the kernel by itself.
Alternately, if you use the auto root sticky and install a stock kernel, the yellow triangle will go away, the you can use the same package to install cwm, and it won't trigger the yellow triangle.
Is there a reason why people are still using Odin? Seems pointless to me.

It is the easiest way to flash multiple components and it works even if your android won't boot. Personally i appreciate having a failsafe in case some flash goes bad and you can't get into cwm.

Samsung GT I9100..

When i first got my phone and rooted it the first startup screen always said GTI9100 with a yellow triangle and an exclamation point and I know thats the international version of our phone Yesterday I unrooted for warranty reasons then when I re rooted using Qbkings latest method I realized my phone actually says Galaxy sII now. I think when I first rooted I must have used the root file for the international version or something. I was just wondering if that could have been why my phone would reboot all the time and shut itself off? It only started doing that after I rooted it and I have to say with my new root from Qbking my phone runs allot smoother. What are your thoughts?

This phone is a version of the 9100 we have same exynos chip ...it just says that when. A "dirty " kernel is Odin .... I got phone first day and that is how we had to root flash a insecure kernel from the international sg2 ....but it is nothing just use one of the one click to stock odins and get rid of triangle then use auto root and install cwm that way no triangle .

Yellow Triangle?!

Ok I want to get this straight before I flash CM9, after I flash it I will supposedly get a yellow triangle correct? To remove this triangle will it go away if I use sfhub's stock restore and then flash the GB rom of my choice? Will the triangle only apperar when I flash an ICS rom thanks!

If you use sfhub's stock restore, it shouldn't trigger the yellow triangle. There's a few threads that talk about the whole triangle thing.
I haven't tried CM9, but I am on a Beta ICS which did not trigger the triangle. I previously used a USB Jig and it worked fine, but might not work with CM9 so I believe people have been using an application called "Triangle away" or something, but it can brick your phone as I remember reading.
Search around to be exact, since I may be wrong.
Or u can use the triangle away apk from chain fire. Its on the second post in mijjz the goodness ics rom thread.

The triangle is only triggered when you flash a custom kernel. So if the ROM you are flashing has a custom kernal packaged with it, then you will get the triangle.
The easiest way to get rid of it is the jig. However, the jig stopped working after EG31, so if you want to use it, you need to revert the bootloader...

No it's only a non stock kernel in Odin .... Not through recovery or mobile Odin....I have cm9 with no triangle but really don't matter is just a triangle who cares ....use triangle away app if you don't want it

I've used the Jig after EG31 and it worked perfectly.. As for ICS, I have not tried since I never got the triangle, but it's been said that it will not work.

The boot loader @fter ek02 is what it won't work with but sfhub put the older boot loader in some of his tar
Files ...you can find out in his thread which ones

[Q] Stock Recovery

Hi, could someone post an image of, or describe what the stock unmodified recovery image looks like on their AT&T Note 2? I flashed a custome recovery on mine, without ever actually seeing the stock one. And now I have to send it in for warranty and am wondering if mine is right. It "seems" like it's not because my android guy is lying on his back, with the door open on his belly, and there is a red triangle with an exclamation mark coming out of it.
I have used Triangle Away (the pay version to support the development) and my flash count is back to normal, and my system status says it's normal, and I have flashed the OEM ROM off of Sammy's stock ROM site that includes the stock recovery. But I just have a funny feeling about the way it looks.
Thanks,
If ur status says normal then ur good...flash count 0 all good ...that android guy means your in recovery, your probly not used to it cause it stock lol
●○●○takin a crap as we speak●○●○
That looks perfectly normal to me.

Yes. If you flashed the stock ROM using ODIN then you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

Stock recovery says "3e recovery" at the top.

Yes mine says "Android system recovery <3e>" at the top as well and by the sounds of it, I'm ok. The thing that had me worried was the image of android lying on his back and the red triangle. That is what I was hoping others were seeing as well. In the past with my Galaxy SII and SIII, I remember android standing upand the triangle was yellow. And with the whole need for the app "Triangle Away" on modified devices, I was just a little curious as to whether the red triangle was stock.
Thanks,

[Q] No yellow triangle when rooting using ODIN PC. How is this possible?!

I'm flashing stock Samsung ROM using ODIN PC and after this rooting it still using ODIN PC. When I start or reboot my Note II, there is any yellow triangle, but counter is increasing.
How is that possible?!

yellow triangle wont appear always but indeed if u flash a custom stuffs Ur count will increase same way for rooting u flashed a custom stuff
Flash counter only increases after custom kernel flash and we don't have any yellow triangle on Note 2 expect the yellow one when validating Download mode.

Well, I thought yellow triangle appeared when rooting also, but, on our case, Galaxy Note II does not have this (annoying) "feature"?
The problem is that I remember using Triangle Away to remove it when first rooting my device, some months ago, when still using stock ROM that came installed.
So, you are saying that the unique yellow triangle that Note II users can see is the one inside Download Mode? Samsung is not bothering us anymore?
