Ok I want to get this straight before I flash CM9, after I flash it I will supposedly get a yellow triangle correct? To remove this triangle will it go away if I use sfhub's stock restore and then flash the GB rom of my choice? Will the triangle only apperar when I flash an ICS rom thanks!

If you use sfhub's stock restore, it shouldn't trigger the yellow triangle. There's a few threads that talk about the whole triangle thing.
I haven't tried CM9, but I am on a Beta ICS which did not trigger the triangle. I previously used a USB Jig and it worked fine, but might not work with CM9 so I believe people have been using an application called "Triangle away" or something, but it can brick your phone as I remember reading.
Search around to be exact, since I may be wrong.
Or u can use the triangle away apk from chain fire. Its on the second post in mijjz the goodness ics rom thread.

The triangle is only triggered when you flash a custom kernel. So if the ROM you are flashing has a custom kernal packaged with it, then you will get the triangle.
The easiest way to get rid of it is the jig. However, the jig stopped working after EG31, so if you want to use it, you need to revert the bootloader...

No it's only a non stock kernel in Odin .... Not through recovery or mobile Odin....I have cm9 with no triangle but really don't matter is just a triangle who cares ....use triangle away app if you don't want it

I've used the Jig after EG31 and it worked perfectly.. As for ICS, I have not tried since I never got the triangle, but it's been said that it will not work.

[Q] So I wasn't paying attention closely enough and I had phone selected when i flash cwm rogue recovery/kernel. Not I get a yellow triangle during the Samsung Galaxy S II screen and my radio seems borked cause it's got a big zero through where the signals bar and 3g is. Tried a few things with not much luck. Any Ideas? Thanks
Update: So I reflashed the autoroot, didn't help, but after I did a full wipe and flashed to another rom, I booted and saw the yellow triangle, however this time I had working radio/modem. In my haste I also realized I flashed to the bootloader as well which I assume is the cause of my yellow triangle. Not sure about the triangle but seems to be back to normal otherwise.
Odin a stock Rom, start it up and update prl and profile, then Odin a custom Rom. Did the same thing when I first rooted... Hope this helps !
Epic-ly tapped from my Galaxy S II
Thanks, just saw this, downloading stock .tar gonna see if that fixes my triangle problems.
the yellow triangle is from flashing unsigned roms. I believe there is a thread on how to remove it in dev section. or like me you can grab a jig off ebay and reset it.
To be more specific, if you odin flash a kernel not signed by samsung (ie any kernel with cwm or any recompiled kernel) you'll get the yellow triangle.
Flashing roms will not trigger the yellow triangle, only kernels.
To get rid of the yellow triangle you can odin flash a stock kernel using any of the odin links in my signature. See the 2nd post fora download for just the kernel by itself.
Alternately, if you use the auto root sticky and install a stock kernel, the yellow triangle will go away, the you can use the same package to install cwm, and it won't trigger the yellow triangle.
Is there a reason why people are still using Odin? Seems pointless to me.

It is the easiest way to flash multiple components and it works even if your android won't boot. Personally i appreciate having a failsafe in case some flash goes bad and you can't get into cwm.
So I've been messing with all the new ICS builds coming out and more specifically, using the Steady Hawkins kernels.
I still don't think ICS is ready for prime-time so I've done a restore, a few times, to my current Calk 2.9.2, FC05 modem, 1.5 Hitman EL29 kernel. My yellow triangle is now gone.
In short, give this a shot and see if it works for you:
- get one of Steady Hawkins ICS based kernels in zip format
- go into CWM and do a nandroid backup
- install the SH ICS kernel
- reboot to CWM and restore from nandroid backup
I've also messed with the stock rooted ROMS, so that may also have done it. If the above steps don't work then try this:
- get a stock rooted ICS based ROM AND get one of Steady Hawkins ICS based kernels in TAR format
- go into CWM and do a nandroid backup
- install the stock rooted ICS ROM and reboot
- reboot to odin recovery and flash the SH ICS kernel
- reboot into CWM and do a nandroid restore
As I've mentioned, I'm back to a restore of calks 2.9.2 w/FC05 modem and SH's Hitman EL29 kernel and NO TRIANGLE!
If you brick, don't blame me!
good luck!
This might work but you could just use the triangle away app in the market. It resets your Odin counter and gets rid of the yellow triangle, although I think it might only be for ics based roms.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
didn't know something like that existed, just noticed this was a fairly simple solution, for me at least.
Yup, very useful app. In the market, just search for "triangle away" by chainfire.

umm...couldn't find it.
No prob, then just go to mijjz ics the goodness rom. In the second post he has a dl link for the triangle away apk. Just dl from there and install

Here's the link for detailed instruction -
http://shetalksandroid.blogspot.com/2012/03/how-to-reset-sgs2-flash-counter-and.html
Also, it seems like the current version is v1.25 instead of 1.1.
I followed this instruction and my counter went back to 0.
Be sure that it only supports ICS ROM only. Once you reset the counter, you can install whatever rom you want.
To download, use the download link from the above linked website. It will send it back to XDA forum attachment. Anyway, this link or attachment could be disappeared anytime soon because it costs $2 in the market.

I can confirm triangle away app worked well for me... used it several leaks ago (don't remember now which one... it was with one of the fairly early full stock rom tars).

As Chainfire says in the post for Triangle Away, I would still use your jig if you have one. While the chance looks to be very small, Triangle Away can hard brick your phone.

Triangle Away worked perfectly for me with no jig on VeNuM ICE Rom.
Jig 2-6 dollars on ebay. Works if the phone wont boot rom I am thinking jig as well. Helps with soft brick
it there anyway to remove the yellow download? without odin or a usb jig. so like an app that works on gingerbread(EL29)
There is a proof of concept thread in the dev section that's supposed to work. It's worked for others but it never would for me. Oh and yes you will still need things like Odin and the like. Also the only real way to do it via a App is TriangleAway and it's only for ICS based roms.

Triangle Away
The current FC18 ICS leak is a very good right now. I've been trying all the releases and FC18 is about complete as i can tell. I would not be afraid to recomend just flashing a FC18 rom and staying with it. That also lets you use the Triangle Away app that's in the Market. If you search around i belive the developer has it posted for free on XDA. I have used the app and it works just fine.
The best way I can figure,
First of course, make a full Backup to flash back to at the end of this so you can keep all your settings.
Follow the instructions from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1433101 this post. This will basically flash you back to stock, El29 with root.
After that, follow the instructions from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342728 this post using the e4gtauto.exe or zip if you perfer to get a working recovery.
Then reboot into recover, restore your backup and enjoy no yellow triangle.
None of this ups flash count (I believe, don't quote me on it). All of this is assuming your planning on staying Gingerbread.
THIS ASSUMES GINGERBREAD TO GINGERBREAD EL29-EL29. THIS MIGHT WORK FOR ICS TO GINGERBREAD BUT DON'T TRY THIS FOR GINGERBREAD TO ICS, IT JUST WOULDN'T WORK AND WOULD BE STUPID.
If this works for you, make sure to thank the authors of those two treads, they did all the work, I just did the research to find their work.
I don't know if there is a quicker way (probably is somewhere) but I have used this and it has worked with no problems.
I have a USB jig. What can I do with it? How do I use out to remove triangle?

Not true. I had the triangle use TriangleAway and used Odin to go back to a GB build I've never seen it again. I also do not push kernels via Odin however anymore for that reason alone.
what exactly does the yellow triangle do and why is it bad?

If you use sfhubs one click Odin for future flashing, there will be no triangle. Every time I flash one of these leaks I use 1 click to go back to el29, add rogue recovery, and flash my ics from there. I don't ever get the triangle back, and the process to do it is super easy. You can even back up your current setup and restore it after you use the 1 click. Or use the app, but if you're flashing a new ROM, 1 click insures a clean install, keeps the bugs away.
I tried this and it worked!
Flashed EL29ROOTED OneClick
Mobile Odin to EL26 Kernel CWM
Flashed calkulins Format all (I don't think this is needed, you can just wipe everything)
flashed rom
rebooted.
No more triangle
But I think the count is still there. Go into Odin mode to look.

It works because the kernel inthe EL29 has official binaries. You can flash a kernel with official binaries in CWM.
I posted how to do it with CWM here

It is not decompiling the bootloader, an act in itself not dangerous. Can decompile anything you want, doesn't mean your going to be recompiling and putting it back.
It does edit information in the boot partition. Bad information, or bad write locations (change in bootloader) can either cause the bootloader to fail initial booting or render it useless altogether. Yes it can be dangerous. Tested on a given bootloader by other individuals you should be fine, check ahead of time before using it on new builds.

It is safe on our phone, on our tested builds so far. A change to the bootloader could turn the application into a one stop bricker. So it is actually not safe. But it is at the moment.
