when you open the phone app and dial a number , then if nee to put them on hold answer another call , you have no option to swap to the call on hold. you are forced to hang up or merge.
thats seems like a fail on gb or samsung. anyway to fix that?
Check the notification bar, each call is tracked separately, you can swap back and forth, and I think even merge the calls.
nope you cant
this is true and sucks.. What i do when im on a call and get another one i answer but i cant switch right back to the other caller i have to have 2nd caller hang up so i can continue my convo with the 1st caller.
it really is a fail on samsung or gb , not sure which is at fault
Is it something maybe a developer can make a fix for
Also if one hangs up it hangs up both calls. On the captivate that did not happen.

You cant what you need to do is have the person on the second line hang up and then your 1st line will continue
Well thats just stupid..it makes no sense you to do that..
Actually you *are* given the option to swap between two calls for "call waiting" (ie you are on the line and get an incoming call)
You are only given the option to merge when you initiate a 2nd call by dialing out.
These are limitations of the phone network. All phones on Sprint work this way. It is the same on WinMo, PalmOS, etc. etc.

With Sense, there was an option in Contacts to send that certain contact straight to voicemail. Is there not such an option with touchwiz?

I thought I was just being stupid and couldn't find it. It wasn't a Sense feature... its a feature of Android itself that for some reason Samsung removed.
I guess this is another reason I'll be hoping for a pure Android ROM...
Yeah, I'm not sure why on earth they would remove that...
launcher pro will let you access that hidden menu i used it on my epic 4g and now on the epic touch.
Google voice will let you do that, and Sprint let's you use your existing number with it. Not a perfect solution, but at least it's a free workaround for this problem, and GV has a lot of other really nice features, so no reason not to use it - takes about 5 minutes to setup.

I was the biggest advocate for GV..WAS! After all kinds of issues with calls not going through and constant text send/receive issues I disabled GV and ALL of my problems went away. My friend was telling me to disable it because he had sprint too and was having none of my issues. I fought him for like a month. When I finally got rid of GV and my stuff started working again I had to eat crow and tell him he was correct.
It was amazing when it worked, but it gave me far too many problems to rely on as my primary form of communication.

Depends on the caller.

+1000000 on this ive had my phone for about 2 weeks the first few days it was fine then i enabled gv and then my calls just kept ringing meanwhile the other end people could hear me and my background noise while it was still ringing on my end
and also 50% of the time my calls wouldnt start ringing at all i would have to hang up and recall a few times to get them to connect, finally i went to google voice website and unchecked all of the boxes next to my mobile number on there and my calls started using my stock number again (not the gv one) and i havent had one single problem connecting or not receiving calls since
It seems like I'm getting calls from everyone except from my wife.
I am on a rooted/CM7.1.0/Droid Incredible and she is on a stock Incredible. We are both on the same Verizon plan.
When she calls, it rings 3 times for her and then to Voice mail. It never rings on my phone. I have checked
I have and use Google voice for voice mail but she is calling my Verizon number.
The "Send calls directly to voicemail" box wasn't checked. I have deleted her contact in my phone and my contact in her phone and it still goes straight to voice mail. I can call her and other people can call me.
Any ideas?

I wish calls from my wife went straight to VM.
Dude, you would get so much money on ebay for that phone.
The only thing i could think of is mabey google voice thinks your wifes number is spam. If you go to google.com/voice and hit the gear icon on the top right, select settings and then the calls tab. Uncheck global spam filtering save the change and then see if that works.

Update:
Formatted everything and "upgraded" to Pons CM7.2 Incredible builds (12192011).
All is working great.
Ha ha, you probably got hacked... Lol
Edit:
To clarify things, guys, he stated that he 'only uses google voice for voicemail'...
This means she is calling his Verizon phone number first... Which, he has something called 'conditional call forwarding' setup... So, even if google voice were set to block her, as spam, it would still have to dial his handset first... And actually ring(or be ignored).
To my knowledge, i haven't seen a way inside of Android to block callers...
Which is why i jokingly say, you got haxxed...
I bet if you flashed a clean install of cm7 again, it would work fine
If you long press the end call button while in a call, you are given the option to put that number on a black list. You could have done that without realizing

Nice, good catch..
That sounds like the most reasonable explanation so far

Thanks for pointing that out. My 1-year-old son might be the culprit.
Formatted everything so not sure, but good to know for the future.

OOPS
OOPs, I think I "accidently did that to mine just now. It 'll take me months to figure it out. Guys someone needs to post that to FB to get this golden secret out to rest of mankind!
I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else, Someone called my phone about 3-4 times but it never rang. Thenmy phone does ring and they say I called them, when it was my phone that just rang and I answered, I didnt make any call. Both of our phones somehow automatically called each other. My call log shows an incoming call from that person, and their phone shows an incoming call from me at exactly the same time. Anyone know the reason why?
Lol someone probably prank called you using the application evil operator. It connects two phones and you can record the conversation. It's quite a nice app.

Are you on stock? I know with AOKP you have to change the sounds, default is silent ringtones.

Hi,
I would like to ask if any custom ROM has this option. If you dial someone and he is already on call, normally we used to get a notification that call on waiting. I am missing this feature from very start of Android Family.
Is any body has an idea if any custom ROM or app for that purpose.
Regards

common
hey developers can you guys even guid us how to do this
I suspect(and hope) that feature has been permanently removed. After all, if you call him and it tells you he is on the phone, then you know he isn't too busy to talk on the phone and that he has it in his hand and can either answer or call you back. So it invades his privacy really. What if he doesn't wanna talk to you? What's next? Phone going to tell you when someone else is declining your calls? "The person you have dialed has received your call and declined to answer at the 4th ring". To be honest, when people call me I either want them to get me, or get voicemail after 5 rings, and NOTHING ELSE.
Its not a privacy issue
Developer plz create mod for phone app that shoving outgoing call waiting notification
Samsung roms have this feature
AOSP /AOKP roms dont have this feature
so why u guys cant make this work
Galaxy nexus
Major problem. If someone tries to call me, all they get is silence on their end. It doesn't even ring. Obviously my phone wont physically ring either. I am not sure whether it is related to my rom either. I am on the jellyverse rom and do not think I have changed anything before getting the problem. I called sprint and they tried resetting on their end a few times but it wasn't helping any. They told me they would send someone to the tower, but that cant be the problem since it is happening everywhere I am. They then told me to take my phone to the sprint store to have it checked out, and ultimately I might have to have phone replaced. The other thing that isnt working is if i physically call voicemail by holding the 1 button on the keypad. This is probably a related problem. Everything else seems to be working. I can make all other outgoing calls besides vmail. Data/email works. Text messaging seems to be working fine. Can anyone in this great epic touch community help?

Did you delete anything sound related. Happened to me when I deleted DSP manager while I was flashing sound mods. I deleted dapanager and had no sound of any kind what so ever
Not that I know of. I dont think I explained it clearly enough.
Someone will try to call me. They dial my number. Put their phone up to their ear. And they hear nothing. No ringing, no dial tone, no busy signal. Nothing.
On my side. I dont hear anything either. No incoming call ring. No missed.
I just messed with google voice settings to see if if that might be the problem. I unclicked my phone from the call forwarding list. Now I can call voicemail, but still no incoming calls.

Similar thing happens to me from time to time... My wife will text me wondering why I don't answer the phone. "Well... It didn't ring". Then shortly after, I get A VM notification. No idea what the issue is and sprint is worthless to fix it. That's why I am force roaming my a** off to have them kick me so I don't have to pay the ETF. Switching to AT&T as soon as they send me the termination letter.

Well gray I hope you get out without an etf. A couple friends of mine recieved a letter then they were called a couple months after. Etf due. They are being given the run around by sprint. I can guarentee sprint wont get the money from them. Although doing that leaves bad marls on your credit report. Goodluck man:beer:

They can't legally do that if they kick you because of roaming. Most of the time, a person doesn't even know they are roaming or can't help it.
