Trackpad issue - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys, i'm experiencing issues with my trackpad... It seems to activate itself when I'm typing or electing on screen. It also scrolls through my homescreens. It stops when I slide my finger over the button.. anyone's got a clue what's going on here? Running coolexe's v4 with smooth rosie and bananacakes 7g kernel and rc team tweaks... Many thanks in advance!

I have almost same issue. On official 2.1&2.2&2.3 trackpad working good. But in Aces mods with 3.0 or 3.5 sense screen scroling throught homescreens.
I think that all ROM's has different trackpad sensivity. In some rom's my trackpad scroll faster, then ther.
Try AcesMod v40, or less.

Thanks for your reply, but i have sent the device for repair and now it works like a charm! So it just was broken...

G2-sense rom question?

So I just came back to the g2 after leaving the g2x. I'm rooted any running CM 7.1. I'm looking for a sense rom with little problems. I don't care if its froyo or gingerbread I just want something that doesn't have the led, mms or missing sms problems. What are your suggestions? Thanks

Virtuous Unity has no CRT animation so no LED problems.

it does have sms problems though, this one is going to be your best bet VIRTUOUS SENSE
I have it downloaded but unsure about trying just yet? Have you ran this rom and how did u like it?

I would suggest Virtuous 1.0.2. It is a Froyo Sense 2.1 ROM that is very stable. The only issue with it is when you use one of the non-standard kernels there are screen-wake issues. This is solved by using SetCPU or CPUTuner and setting a broader range of frequencies in the screen off profile.
I tried virtuous 1.0.2 and it was extremely laggy. I took a while to scroll from screen to screen and open the app drawer. I liked the way insert coin ran but couldn't get past the led problem.

Did you use CWM or Rom Manager to flast 1.0.2? RM is not a good way to flash roms as it can be alittle tempermental.
Also, when you flash, reboot before you do any configurations. 1.0.2 has scripts that run on first boot which may give you a false first impression.

[Q] Does adding swap from the SD card help with Sense ROMs?

Subject says it all. I am curious on first hand opinions, before I backup my sd card and try it. All Sense 3 or greater roms lag or get rosie reloads to much for my liking.

My DZ is running Virtuous Trentacinque beta at the moment with swap. So far I haven't had a single rosie reboot. It is running nicely and is very responsive
In my experience it helps a lot.

[Q] Tried Runnydroid v2.1 - No Auto Rotation

This "10 posts before you post in the relevant forum" stuff is bloody ridiculous. I understand why...but pretty sure this isn't the answer.
Anyway, flashed runnydroid 2.1 today based on the positive comments about the place regarding smoothness and battery usage. It started up ok, but I just happened to check a photo...it wouldn't rotate. I then thought that was weird and tried a youtube vid...also no rotation. Checked all the settings available...the auto-rotate check box was checked in Display....
Is anyone able to shed any light?
I think it would have been better to place this comment in the relevant ROM forum...but, alas, I have another 8 "qualifying" posts to go.

someone else mentioned the same problem in the thread.. so now you can follow the thread for the fix. To me, personally I think it is something to do with the rosie.apk.

Yes, same with me when i try to see Photo it didnt rotate..
Hmm.. Do you have rosie.apk from sebastiaan15 or coolexe runnymede?
Maybe i can try to replace it..

Here is the original Coolexe's Rosie (without RCMix capability).
and Seb's Rosie (with RCMix capability)
Thank you..
I will try rosie with rctweaks capability..

Already replace with sebastiaan15 rosie but auto rotate still didnt work..
Any idea?

I installed the ROM just for testing. The Auto-Rotate works. When first rotate say messages, need to press back button once then after that all rotation work. But the rotation is a little bit slow. I guess it use sort of rotation effect. Same thing when installed other Rosie.apk.
Another thing is before that I also untick and retick the Auto-Rotate screen in settings-display.
Did you use rctweaks?

No.. just the default in the ROM.
Reinstalling the ROM to reconfirm.
Now this is funny/weird ... after installed, let it settle a bit, all rotation in gallery, messages, browser are working fine without setting anything..
and the rotation is fast not like the first time I tested the ROM.
I already back to my nandroid before installing rctweaks and auto rotate works..
So the problem is the rctweaks installer..
Thank you for your information and testing..
Terima kasih pak cik..

Thanks for the input guys. I'm currently on the runny bliss mix, which is very good. I'll decide in the next few days whether or not to give the Droid another go.
Cheers

came here just right now after a search on google !
problem solved?
Yes..
Use akmd file from the ROM and copy to rctweaks flashable zip in /system/bin and then flash it..

I'm having the same problem with the HTC Amaze 4g, and also the same problem that I'm not allowed to post in the right forum...

[Q] Q: Is there i can make in the kernel or ROM to adjust trackpad speed?

Trackpad is too slow for me on CM builds. I'm willing to venture into the software and adjust it if possible.
What was the question exactly? You title seems to be missing words

Is there a way i can adjust the speed the cursor moves when using the trackpad? Typing from my phone and got distracted. Didn't know if it was in kernel or rom. And if so, where exactly?
This has been asked before, and I don't recall a solution, though maybe (hopefully ?) I missed something ?
My own guess is that it's built into the driver. The trackpad is a lot less sensitive (i.e. slower) in CyanogenMod compared to the stock HTC ROM I used to run.
It would be nice if it was user configurable.

I've googled my heart out and havn't gotten a clear answer. I noticed in one of the ICS builds, Virtuous I think, that it was working like stock.
In Stock Froyo, trackpad was really slow, but I clearly saw that it became faster with Stock Gingerbread update. Now I am using Custom ROMs and it works all slower like Froyo in any ROM I tried, I wish it would be adjustable too.
virtuous quattro has an option to change trackpad sensitivity easily, try it

[Q] Trackball wake on marius.a's ICS ROM

Hey y'all
I'm using marius.a's ICS ROM (found here) but would like to activate the trackball to wake up the phone.
I've tried ButtonRemapper (no option for trackball) and WidgetLocker (trackball wake option) doesn't work
Can anyone extract the trackball wake for me or point me in the right direction???
Yes, me too. Really like marius.a's ROM. If it could be wake on by track ball, it will be better.
