Hi, i've a "stock" defy+ 2.3.4 (only rooted)
I don't want to put a custom rom, but I want to improve the stock with some addons like 720p recording and if possibile battery percentage. Any hint ?
Hi, the same here (only root, not custom ROM - the stock is pretty fine)... I made 720p recording according this thread. Working fine ...
Hi guys!
The Motorola Defy + is a great phone. I bought mine on Ebay, came from UK.
I´m prety happy with stock rom too, but I wonder if it is possible to have support for the Portuguese language. The Morelocale2 don´t work with Gingerbread 2.3.4
I've installed the patch to record in 720p and it works great!!!
I've done root and I like to know how I do overclock?
Setvsel not work with Defy+ i think... any ideas?
Regards and sorry my bad english
Some questions from me too...
1. Since I rooted and installed recovery, when I check for system update the phone hangs on checking for ever without any response - is it because of rooting or what...
2. It shoots 720p, but in 3gp. LG camera sucks. Is there a way to shoot with another app 720p .mp4
3. Is there any way to put something like power widget in the notification bar - I'm used to it and I miss it a lot. Tried with power widget pro, as it has this option, but it's not working right(tried this with a couple of launchers).

Hi i'm new to the defy, and one reason for me buying it was the camcorder resolution. Now i use pays rom, but when i apply antibytes fullscreenrecording zip, the camcorder just closes, 640x480 ends up on homescreen.
it only works, when i choose lower resolution. the lgcamera app allows me to choose higher resolution, but the videos are not viewable or full of stripes or just black. I have the red lense model.
So i also tried the 720p hack, but the result is the same.
please help improving the videores is very important for me.
What did i do wrong? is Android 2.2 Froyo based on 3.4.2-164 official French release the problem?
pays only included the antibyte playback-fix, is it a known problem that fullscreenrecording doesnt work with this version?
sorry if this problem was already solved and i overread it.
Hi,
I am facing this rather weird problem with my motorola defy.
A brief history: I live in India and I got my phone packed with Eclair and then i updated it to Froyo.
After that I rooted my defy and then installed MIUI Gingerbread.
But then again I started missing Blur and so I flashed a UK Motoblur rom on my Defy...
But since then the Camera is not working properly.
Actual Problem:
The camera application works fine. I mean it captures pictures and videos just as it should, but i see a black screen while doing so.
I start my camera application and its a black screen so is the case with camcoder.
I have attached a screen shot of my camera application to give you a better understanding of my problem...
I cant even watch youtube videos on my cell coz that too (videos) play with a black screen.
I dont understand what is the problem. I tried clearing the Camera application cache...but it does not help.
Is there anyone who can make me understand what is wrong with my phone.
Thanks
Have you installed 2ndinit bootmenu on the phone?

did you clear camera cache and thumbnails???
happened to me once
do a factory reset
apologies for n00bishly bumping a thread, but I have the same problem.
Since I rooted my phone and installed 2nd Init (I haven't flashed a new ROM yet, still on stock) youtube just gives me a black screen (sound is fine) and the same thing happens when I take a photo; the screen is visibily photo but takes a photo fine when I press the shutter
will a factory reset undo the SIM unlock?
Try uninstalling 2ndinit bootmenu.
Had the same issue, this is how it was resolved.
Hey all
Am quite new to the xperia play at rooting etc.
I currently have version 2.3.4 android on my phone. Bootloader is unlocked and im using Doomkernal Version 4 which has just recently come out.
Everything is working fine, except i dont see any option with my video camera to select HD fro recording?
All i have is:
High (30m)
Low (30m)
MMS (low 20s)
Youtube (High , 10m)
This is the same as when i bought my phone. Anyone have an idea where im going wrong at all?
Cheers, Kris
on 2.3.4 high(30m) is 720hd! if you take a video and check the formats I believe its MPEG 1280x720!
How can i get on my Cool Droid v3 a 720p camera?? i had it on another rom.. but this one i like very much.. please help.
720p camera is only enabled in Sense ROMs
cool droid has Sense..
My bad. Maybe the dev removed it. The Desire was never really good enough for proper 720p recording anyway. Most Sense ROMs have it though...
another question.. if i change the camera apk from my rom with one with 720p from another rom.. will it work>??
Suppose you could try, just backup your ROM first.
You won't be able to just install it like a regular .apk though, you need to stick it into /system/app with the likes of root explorer or Android Commander (.exe PC application), then reboot.
have changed the HTCCamera.apk from my rom with one with 720p recording... reinstalled the rom again with this changed apk.. ain't working.. any help? please.
LE: is it possible to work if i change all the camera files in my rom?? i'm not a dev.. but i like this rom and really want to have 720p camera and wifi N..
I'm running Cool Droid v3 on the Desire and the video has the option to record 720p...have you changed your encoding to MPEG4?
thanks mate. i'm a f*****g idiot...
Hi all,
I have purchased an xperia s and intend to install custom ROM tomorrow. I have done a good bit of reading but theres alot of info.
I believe roms based on lastest JB eg cm10? dont have a functioning camera
I believe 1 or more roms based on cm9? does not have a functioning hdmi?
The camera (and hdmi) is important to me. I would prefer to have a modded "hardware" rather than an app such as the cybershot one (I assume an app means the improvements are only seen when in that app).
The only camera hardware mod i can find is "[MOD][CAM]GBXperia S|Video 1080p >20mb Bitrate|720p >15mb Bitrate|>100% Image quality".
This requires 2.3.7.
I would be grateful if someone could point out (via link or name) a 2.3.7 based rom, and kernel, as simple and clean as possible (no bloatware) that has a better performance than stock and would allow me to use this mod. Of course, if i have missed a later/better ROM with optimised camera let me know
Thanks for reading and hope someone can advise, I realise im more of a lurker
CM10 has a functioning camera, however I prefer the stock camera (SONY).
About HDMI, i'm not sure about it, I have no HDMI TV for me to play on, however user reported that it worked (in CM10 thread)
About the camera hardware mod you mentioned, it already included (implemented) in the ICS update if I'm not mistaken, therefore if using stock ICS ROM, the MOD is included.
I do not try other MOD ROM, I just tried AOKP JB and FXP CM10, for me, I like CM10, has the latest function on Jelly Bean.
Wish SONY can release the update asap. haha
If you want CM10 based ROM, install Nova Xperia RC1 and update its kernel to 007. That ROM is great, I didn't find any bugs, except that the camera doesn't record in 1080p.
If you want a stock based ROM install XTXperience v7 and Advanced Stock Kernel... It's based in the latest official Sony firmware and it has the look of Xperia T or GX, all depends of your taste
I'd recommend you try PAC ROM.
HDMI isn't as well supported in AOSP than the Stock ROM. In CM9 and CM10, it works and puts out a 1080p 30 Hz signal, but is noticeably laggy. Watching movies works ok-ish, Vsync problems are noticeable though and some frames are dropped because of this - way more fluid on a stock ROM, which lets you select different output modes as well via the service menu (I choose 720p60). AOSP also only has the option of sending out the video layer of Hardware-decoded video directly, meaning true 1080p, but no overlays including soft subtitles. Stock offers both, 1080p output or mirroring of the 720p screen, which makes soft-subs on HW-decoded video possible.
As for the camera, Panorama is broken in CM10, and video recording is 720p max, otherwise it works fine.
If these are no issues for you, go for a CM10 based ROM - more customizable. Otherwise pick a stock-based ROM.
I have the Acro S by the way, but that phone has the same camera. The HDMI issues are universal in AOSP ROMs and almost all Stock ROMs for most phones - Sony are as far as I have seen the only ones to bother optimizing the HDMI output and offering some options for it on their phones.
Thread closed. Unfortunately "what ROM", "best ROM" type threads aren't encouraged on the forums as everyone's opinion differs and what one person may tell you another will disagree with so the only way to find out what's best and meets your requirements is to try some for yourself. Most, if not all ROM threads should have a changelog with what's working/not working so you'll be able to rule out any that don't have what you need and those that don't state issues may just not have had anyone report them.
Thanks
