First went to replace digitizer, then removing it cracked my lcd screen, then the micro switch for the power button(also the volume buttons) solder broke off and now I need a microswitch or 2. Anyone have any ideas?
i suggest a repair store... if you don't have insurance otherwise it'll just be cheaper to get a replacement through there... seems like a big mess to me if you'd like to try your luck your best bet would be getting another broken eve from craigs list for parts

Hey There,
I am attempting to try and fix my phone because it has multiple problems associated with it such as a nonfunctional power button, a faulty in-call speaker, and blind spots within the digitizer that are unresponsive.
My guess is that the prior owner dropped the phone and some damage was sustained to the flex cable/pcb which runs to all of these things causing the phone to have some broken connections here and there.
I plan to use a teardown/repair guide to use this, BUT!
Does anyone know what else might be the problem, and where can I find a replace flex cable/pcb and how much do they usually go for?
I live in Canada...
Appreciate it.
You can get them off ebay for ~50 USD. ebay item number 260744426322. It's from China and will take forever but that's about it. Sounds like a flex cable though, hopefully it doesn't need a new digitizer too.
so the off white tab that holds the pins in place broke off....and also some of the pins broke off. So im wondering if this is completely impossible to fix? is there anyway to rig the lcd screen to turn on still or am i screwed? btw it is the smaller flex cable version. i dont have a sprint upgrade for a good year and a half so im not trying to wait that long and my htc hero is getting quite annoying to use compared to my modded evo which was gloriously fast.
Hey did you ever get this fixed?? The same thing just happened to me...
A new digitizer for the Evo only costs $20-$30. Just buy one and replace it. Problem solved.
Hey,
It is possible to fix you just need a new lcd screen or digitizer here are some ebay links for them I am not sure what one you need..
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-HTC-EVO...ultDomain_0&hash=item230a0125a2#ht_2253wt_752
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HTC-Evo-4G-...ultDomain_0&hash=item519bf4265e#ht_2188wt_944
But just replace it dont try to rig it or anything it will cause more damage then good.
I hope I helped If I did please hit the thanks button,
Stevo
I think he means the connector on his logic board broke which is hard to repair afaik

Hey all, I just recently fixed my inc2 and in the process I lost all but 1 of the screws that hold the board down to the phone as well as the screw that holds the USB port down and have searched high (mostly) and low for a replacement set with no luck. Does anybody know of a vendor that sells just the screws? I replaced the LCD, digitizer, both speakers, and the USB but am really afraid to drop it with nothing holding it together. Btw I replaced all of that for under 40$

I have an old Xperia S (LT26i) with me and i accidentally dropped it from the 2nd floor. Fortunately, it did not break into many pieces but it did bok the screen on the top left corner and also broke the plastic housing that where the on/off buttom cap is attached. it also caused some damage on the power switch which cause to not work anymore. the accelerometer and the gyro no longer works after that..
I was able to get my hands on another defective LT26i which the old user somewhat broke the board for a cheap price of $20 and instead of buying a new screen/a new Power Button Flex Cable Ribbon and a new case which will cause me around $90 in total (including shipping), is it possible if I just dismantle the the one with the defective board and use its Power Button Flex Cable Ribbon/Housing/Digitizer and put it into mine? will it still work after that?
Ive been looking into some information and i think it would work but i wanted to be sure by asking you pros
and will i be able to fix the accelerometer and gyro as well because it seems like i cannot find the location of the acc/gyro on the device.
Im looking at this for reference: sonymania.cz/storage/1331332888_sb_xperia_s_wi.pdf
Any information would really help.. Thanks in advance
Hi, my sister's epic 4g touch has a problem with power button. It keeps rebooting. I found out that power switch is defected.
I called sprint store, then one guy said that repair cost around 75. In addition, I found online fix service cost around $40 + shipping.
I found that I can buy replacement switched 4 fot 5, but I am not good at soldering.
1. Is there any place that I can fix it for less or free?
2. Do you think soldering power switch on e4gt easier for beginner solder?
3. If solder better, is it ok to go with cheap soldering iron? or temp managed soldering iron?

There should be places around you that offer that service. A place by me charges $45 to replace the power switch or charging port, $70 to do both.

NOT AT ALL! That is a job for somebody with experience and a VERY steady hand

When it comes to soldering irons, you get what you pay for. The cheaper ones are sometimes difficult to dial in to the correct temperatures.

1) I don't know of a place that can fix it for less or for free, I think there are some sellers on ebay that will fix your phone for around ~$30-40.
2) Removing the broken button and installing the new one is not for beginners, the buttons are pretty small and there are some very tiny resistors around the button which could potentially be removed in the process and permanently damage the phone.
3) You would need a heat gun for replacing the button which may cost you around what it would cost to repair the button itself, I would also suggest soldering paste, flux, kapton tape. All those things will most likely add up to more than what it would cost to have somebody else repair your phone.
I hope that helps and good luck fixing the phone!
