[Q] Help! Rom Manager not working..among other things

ok...been all over the forums on this issue and not finding a real answer anywhere.
Used zedomax's kernel v2 and Odin to root my Epic4GT. Did that fine. But 3g stops working intermittently. Thought at first it was the kernel, but I've read it's not, but that it's Sprint. OK. Meanwhile, I can't get into backup mode with CWM. Not with Rom Manager or manually. I get this error message: whole-file signature not verified. Install aborted. I can't find a sensible answer to this anywhere! So I was gonna unroot and redo with zedomaxx's v3 root. However>>>NOW I can not get into download mode!!?? What do I do now??
Grab a jig off eBay or amazon. Plug it in and boom!

Really?? your reply makes no sense and is in no way explanatory. What is a "jig" and what do you propose I do with it. Thanks for nothing

Google is your friend OP. Maybe if you'd take the time to cruise the forums and learn about your device, you wouldn't have to start a thread and ask a question that has a half dozen threads dedicated to it already! How hard is it to Google "epic touch 4g jig"? Instead you had to write a nasty reply that assures no one will want to help you. Enjoy the freebie cus I'm done with you and your attitude!
@poppygt
If you read my post...I have gone thru all the forums trying to find a solution. But either the answers are just as obscure as yours or else they're so technical that I can't follow it. There has not been one clear answer yet. I spent 6 hours on Friday morning alone looking for the reason and solution. I can't go any further in flashing out of stock rom to anything else until I can do a backup.
I need help.
So are you saying you can't boot into recovery? Look for my thread in Q&A for a thread I started about not being able to boot into Clockwork. XDA member Playya linked me to a thread to flash Clockwork recovery via ODIN. After I did that I was able to get into recovery and make my backup. Hope that helps. I'll check back in a bit.

Pulled Root with Zedo's pulled.tar, the did the EG30 stock recovery. Then redid root with Zedomax's V3.tar. Only this time I pulled my SD card first. I don't know if that is what did it, but...it WORKED! I now have CWM working! Now my only problem is WiFi seems to be broken. Any ideas on that?

I believe that there was a wifi fix in Caulkins ROM thread but make sure you read before you flash it. I'll dig and see if I can find it.

Also when you say your wifi is broken what do you mean? If it's disconnecting from your network go to Settings, WIFI, tap on menu hen advanced and set wifi sleep policy to NEVER.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
The wifi is in a constant "scanning/connecting/disconnecting" loop. won't really connect at all. The Kernel version says "GINGERBREAD.EG30". but if i flashed Zedomax's v3.tar shouldn't have that there? Could that be the issue?
Thanks

[Q] Trying to update to EK02 modem from EG30

I have downloaded the correct files booted into recovery, when I try to flash the zip file it tells me there was an unknown error.... installation aborted.
Has anyone else experienced this, I have browsed and searched through the forums and found nothing related sorry If I may have missed it.

--Mods please delete this thread since people are clearly misunderstanding the title--
I have dev's to test my roms and some people are just too impatient to see some results. I will post back in the Captivate Glide thread once I fix everything and it is pretty stable. Until then, you guys can make your own rom.
Thanks,
rkrishnan2012
downloading now...
will let you know how it goes...
The three main things I need to know asap:
1. Does it boot?
2. If not, does it go to bootscreen?
3. Does Wifi work?
doing backups first... gonna take a few

getting a status 0 error and installation aborts
Okay. Thanks Guys for testing it out! I will try to fix this up and post an update possibly tomorrow....
Edit: Maybe try with another clockworkmod in the mean time and try to get it to work?
Also, I will try to add the cranium kernel to this...
EDIT2: I have another zip for people to try:
Okay...Check this one out:http://www.mediafire.com/?f8tbghkypgx9oi1
Edit3; If this also doesn't work, I know exactly why it wouldn't work. I need to recompile the kernel and upload a new zip tomorrow...
I tried your second upload (with CWM) and also got a (Status 0) Installation aborted.
It showed this:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
E:Error in /sdcard/cyanogen_galaxys2att-ota-eng.root.zip
(Status 0)
Installation aborted.
I just read on another forum that the cause of this error could be this: "The Author has an extra update-script in the command folder or go and delete the update-script~ from the archive." I'll see if I can try this.
Also, I made sure Signature Verification was disabled (in "install zip from sdcard" screen).
You do realize that you're flashing a ROM made for a Device with an Exynos SOC on a device that has Tegra 2 ?
That's not the only problem. I need to fix the kernel and it will work...I will release that today

With all due respect, again, how are you going to flash something developed for a phone that doesn't resemble on the minimum, to the glide ?
I know you're a Dev, and of course, I believe that this could be a misunderstanding between us, but, again, what you're saying just doesn't make sense.
Why don't we just use the gingerbread kernal that we already have?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I927 using XDA
correct me if i am wrong, but i believe that cyanogenmod requires its own kernel
Hi,
Firstly, it's been a while since I last compiled a gingerbread rom to a phone, so I may just be blabbering about something that is not true.
My plan is to take the gingerbread rom for the samsung galaxy s2 and combine that with the Kernel you guys already have and tweak the galaxy's board config to include the tegra 2 processor you guys have. I did this and now I am trying to recompile right now. Also, I used the cranium kernel in this rom and some of the device drivers from the old gingerbread rom you had...This will hopefully make it at the very least boot up to the CM logo.
Also, I do not think that CM needs a special kernel. It will do with any kernel that supports gingerbread.
EDIT:
Here is a new version with your cranium kernel...hopefully this boots: http://www.mediafire.com/?yivbr0rq3t3h00b
EDIT2;
Someone tested this for me and reported that I screwed up the build.prop (so it wont install via rommanager). I will fix this and reupload a new rom...
Edit 3: Fixed, try this one...http://www.mediafire.com/?sm1u311kzp3j2tu
Edit 4: I needed to also update the update-script in the zip file. Also, I removed the stupid check for whether your phone is the right model. I really don't feel like debugging that right now without a phone to play with...Will upload in a few...
Edit 5: I already have a dev testing it but if you want to help, plz try this out:

Thanks,
Rohit
Do you plan on getting the device?

Can you be a little more specific about what you did. What have you done to your phone so far?
I belive you can't be rooted to install an ota update
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
well yeah i only rooted it but ok ill try to unroot then try again
Do this

Pretty sureroot is ok. But you do have to be stock recovery, system, modem...
No mods no debloating.
And with otas you must be on the correct build to start with. Usually UVALH2.

Do you mean it stays stock recovery? Or does it fail when flashing?
If its the first one, and you're still rooted delete /system/recovery-from-boot.p
And
/system/etc/install-recovery.sh
Then reinstall recovery.
