Hi
I want to know how to do root.
arc s, was bought in England (used in Israel).
android 2.3.4, build 4.0.1.a.0.266, kernel 2.6.32.9
Model lt18i
Sorry for the English ...
Thank you.
See here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1294564
Note: you need to unlock your bootloader, which will void your warranty
Just an idea:
Could i flash LT15i_3.0.A.2.181.ftf (ARC) into my Arc S - Root with gingerbreak ...THEN using flashtool restore the Arc S firmware whilst keeping the erase user data un ticked?
OR wouls SEUS give me the option to keep user data??
I`m also guessing i would not lose my 1.4GHz

Thanks dude !
no problem and as I can see this thread has been moved. sorry for posting in wrong section I`m still new member of forum so I`m not sure on which section I should make a new thread
Well It looks as if I Cant remove unnecessary apps on my Arc without rooting.
But here is something i wanted to ask before I go ahead with doing That
Q1) Is it necessary to Unlock My Boot Loader for Rooting or Rooting can occur without Unlocking it aswell?
I mean that I have read rooting without unlocking it but will it be the same locked or unlocked?
Q2)Unlocking My Boot loader means a 100% surety that my warranty will be Nulled right? (I Live in India, Rules don't differ here or in UK does it?)
Q3) If I have Rooted and NOT Unlocked my Boot Loader, Can I still update my Phone software through SE PC Companion? And Is my Warranty Still Safe?
Because I read that ICS will be available for Arc in the first quarter next year so I want to update my phone using SE PCC and NOT by flashing even though I know the pro's of flashing
Thank You so Much!

1. No you dont have to unlock BL to root your arc search for doomlords easy rooting toolkit
2. As far as I know yes
3. Yes you can still update with SE PC companion but I think updating via PC companion removes root. And your waranty is safe
You can use zegrush to root without unlocking bootloader. I live in India too. U can still update after rooting but not after unlocking. Rules apply everywhere.
Xperia Arc (rooted)
Thank you sooooo Much!!!
One more question
@Tatit1011- in reply to ur question 1, are dere any pros/cons of rooting after unlocking BL and. Rooting without unlocking it??

If you unlock your bootloader you CAN: flash custom roms, kernels(for overclock), and generally anything.
You CAN'T: upgrade via se, either pc or ota via the phone. Plus drm is lost, as is your warranty, but you can re-lock it
Generally, if all you want to do is remove system apps and use apps like titanium backup, root explorer etc then just root. If you want to try custom roms(there's only one you can flash over stock kernel, I think) then unlock the bootloader.

OK, I updated My Arc to a .62 Latest Firmware via SE PC Companion.
Can you tell me how to root it now?
There are options available right?
I have a Locked Boot Loader and Dont wanna unlock it.
Thanks Alot!
it aint possible without an unlock. Get a pro to unlock it for you. Costs about 15 quid warranty and drm remains intact.
Downgrade to .42 or .58 firmware with Flashtool and root it using the zergRush exploit.
@somedude67 - My DRM can be saved even after unlocking my bootloader??
How??
Any free way?

No, there's no free way, contact e.g Jinx13.
Hello, I'm new here, with a new xperia arc.
I have .42 firmware and I want to root, but i have a question about it.
My phone is stock, locked bootloader, untouched...plain stock; If I root with doomlord rootkit I void warranty or it's safe?
I've seen that it is a un-rooting kit there, but it works well in case i want to unroot?
And if I root now, and update via pc companion the future ICS 4.0, it will be ok with the phone and all right?
I just want to root but not to void my warranty, or unlock the bootloader, or to flash another firmware or system.
Thanks in advanced
It won't void the warranty - but not 100% sure as I don't really about warranty
And yes, you can update to 4.0 later

Thanks, I still have 2 years of warranty and i just want to be safe
So, can someone confirms that this tool Xperia 2011 Easy Rooting Toolkit [v4.0](zergRush Exploit)( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1320350 ) don't unlock the bootloader and don't change the phone except giving root privileges? As I said, I want this for the warranty and stability of the phone
(had bad experiences with my former LG GW620 phone last year :-<)
Thank you again
Anyone over Xperia Arc or Arc S
Have their device unlockedbootloader and lockedbootloader?
Do comment below and if unlocked : why do you unlocked ?
Thanks
I have an arc i unlocked it .
Since the day i buyed it.
Unlocked BL is needed for full.system customization.
I think everyone should unlock there BL. & dont worry for OTA update & bricking or warranty gone.
any mishap .!"
just flash FTF again via flashtool. To get phones life back.
Simple as that.

I've got an arc with an unlocked bootloader.
Initially, I kept putting off the decision to unlock it because I didn't want to lose the DRM keys but I got it done by the Test-point method via Omnius, when they had an Easter offer (FREE). Who can turn down such a great offer? LOL!
I did it because it allows me to flash kernels and ROMs as and when required. My main inclination was the flashing kernel bit. Plus rooting becomes a cakewalk.

Test Point method can't be updated via SEUS?
and it cant be relocked right?
I was thinking unlocking via test point or flashtool ?
which do it better?
I haven't really tried updating via SEUS after that because I didn't want to risk bricking it.
It can be relocked. Blagus supplied the file you need to flash with Flashtool already. But then again, there's no real point in locking it.
Well, the main reason I went with the test point method is because I didn't want to lose my DRM files, which in turn would affect TrackID. But the latest version of TrackID which is available on the market works even with an unlocked bootloader so there's nothing to worry. You can unlock it via the official Sony route.
Unless your bootloader unlock status says no, there's no need to go for the test-point method.
And FYI, Flashtool won't unlock your phone. It's great for flashing ROMs, kernels etc.
How to know whether the bootloader is unlocked?
i using testpoint but not really sure it unlocked
Try hotbooting/flashing a kernel.

THANKS
I just noted that the fix is * 0.8.6.0
- Added Xperia U, P, Sola, Ion to BL Unlock plugin.
* 0.8.5.0
- Fixed issue with turkish regional settings (and maybe others we don't know)
No more need to change regional settings to see FTF content.
* 0.8.4.0
- Repaired TA Backup / Restore / Editor (broken by 0.8.3)
* 0.8.3 :
- Fixed an issue in firmware selector. When partition categorie or TA categorie are excluded from
selection, it was not excluded from flashing.
- Elf Extractor now identifies the program type included into kernel (Image, ramdisk or rpm)
* 0.8.2.0 :
- Fixed an issue where fastboot mode is not handled correctly under linux.
* 0.8.1.0 :
- Fixed an issue where loader is not found when using BL Unlock or TA Backup/Restore/Editor
- Progressbar when flashing was not showing right progress.

Thanks to all who help and tips me
Why don't you go the official Sony route to unlock your bootloader?
Thank members on their post which helped you. It's always a good idea. There's a dedicated button, if you didn't notice.

I got a lt18i "unlock bootloader allowed: no" android 2.3.4 (4.0.2.A.0.62).
All i want is to have android 4 (or above) as long as it runs.
Can i get ICS, or any version 4.x or above, without unlock?
I read i can flash stock based roms those include android 4 or only 2.3 like i got now?
I also tried to update on PC companion but it doesn't eve detect my phone. My pc (win10) does detect it as "Xperia arc S" so all good there...
Idk what to try next :/
Any tips or direction are welcome, thx in advance!
Yeah, flash .587 firmware with Flashtool. That's it.
