I've got an arc with an unlocked bootloader.
Initially, I kept putting off the decision to unlock it because I didn't want to lose the DRM keys but I got it done by the Test-point method via Omnius, when they had an Easter offer (FREE). Who can turn down such a great offer? LOL!
I did it because it allows me to flash kernels and ROMs as and when required. My main inclination was the flashing kernel bit. Plus rooting becomes a cakewalk.

Test Point method can't be updated via SEUS?
and it cant be relocked right?
I was thinking unlocking via test point or flashtool ?
which do it better?
I haven't really tried updating via SEUS after that because I didn't want to risk bricking it.
It can be relocked. Blagus supplied the file you need to flash with Flashtool already. But then again, there's no real point in locking it.
Well, the main reason I went with the test point method is because I didn't want to lose my DRM files, which in turn would affect TrackID. But the latest version of TrackID which is available on the market works even with an unlocked bootloader so there's nothing to worry. You can unlock it via the official Sony route.
Unless your bootloader unlock status says no, there's no need to go for the test-point method.
And FYI, Flashtool won't unlock your phone. It's great for flashing ROMs, kernels etc.
How to know whether the bootloader is unlocked?
i using testpoint but not really sure it unlocked
Try hotbooting/flashing a kernel.

THANKS
I just noted that the fix is * 0.8.6.0
- Added Xperia U, P, Sola, Ion to BL Unlock plugin.
* 0.8.5.0
- Fixed issue with turkish regional settings (and maybe others we don't know)
No more need to change regional settings to see FTF content.
* 0.8.4.0
- Repaired TA Backup / Restore / Editor (broken by 0.8.3)
* 0.8.3 :
- Fixed an issue in firmware selector. When partition categorie or TA categorie are excluded from
selection, it was not excluded from flashing.
- Elf Extractor now identifies the program type included into kernel (Image, ramdisk or rpm)
* 0.8.2.0 :
- Fixed an issue where fastboot mode is not handled correctly under linux.
* 0.8.1.0 :
- Fixed an issue where loader is not found when using BL Unlock or TA Backup/Restore/Editor
- Progressbar when flashing was not showing right progress.

Why don't you go the official Sony route to unlock your bootloader?
Thank members on their post which helped you. It's always a good idea. There's a dedicated button, if you didn't notice.

[Q] Phone bricking per OTA - strange
Hey Folks I tried now 2 times to get on the new Firmwareversion 4.x for the Arc with root. Every Time i tried to Unlock per OTA the Phone bricked. So the Bootloader must be open. I don´t touched the Bootloader, but i think the Bootloader is open, because the Phone had SimLock and i unlocked the phone with SETools with Testpoint Methode. How do I know if the boot loader can be unlocked on my phone? It is possible to unlock the boot loader for certain releases of our 2011 Xperia™ phones, such as Xperia™ arc, Xperia™ neo, Xperia™ pro and Xperia™ PLAY. Your phone has to fulfill a number of requirements, for example, you can’t unlock the boot loader if you have a SIM lock protected phone. There are other requirements as well, depending on your market and the original configuration of your phone. Click to expand... Click to collapse So the Bootloader must be open in a way am i right? But i can still update with PCC or SEUS the Firmware Where can i check the Bootloader Status Thanks in advance for Help Dudes

Just key in *#06# on your mobile phone and it will display its IMEI number..just follow the instruction to unlock the bootloader man..

Question about boot loader
Il make this brief :silly:, Basically I had CM9 ROM on my phone and things kept messing up (going really slow rebooting etc.) and I re-locked my boot loader and flashed back with a stock FTF file now I can't re unlock my boot loader, there's no notification on the service menu so I'm guessing I cant re-unlock it which is quite annoying because I want CM9 back, I got so used to it now stock is just crap. Hopefully someone has an answer for me I'd really appreciate it.

[Q] Help needed to update Xperia Ion LT28H
I am trying to update my xperia ion to version 3.7 from 2.68. But its not happening. I tried with pc companion as well as OTA. Both say that phone has the latest version of firmware. I tried to perform repair via pc companion but it re-installed same version of firmware 2.68. Also my phone heats up quickly while browsing internet on 3G and battery gets drained quickly. I checked with Sony service station and they are ready to replace my phone as i am facing heating and battery issue. But before replacing the phone i would like to check if issue has been solved in firmware version 3.7. I am concerned about flashing phone directly as it might void the warranty. Any help on this issue would be appreciated.

Is there any way to relock the BL?
I want to return the device to stock and read on the sony dev website you have to flash a firmware but I do not see the Z5P, is there any other way? thanks, AC
Is there a reason why you need to relock the BL? According to Sony, there is no way to restore an unlocked BL. Q: If I change my mind later on, is there any way to restore my device? A: No. Once you have unlocked the boot loader, you will not be able to revert the device back to a locked or original state or restore the DRM security keys. You can however use the Flash tool for Xperia™ devices to flash a generic Sony ROM, although it will not receive automatic software upgrades. Source Click to expand... Click to collapse

Not sure if you can relock it without the back up drm keys. Since there isn't a backup program yet I would assume you've already lost the drm keys. I'm afraid you won't be to revert back to the same. Camera quality and x reality will be affected.

Relocking Bootloader I had to unlock my device's bootloader to downgrade it to marshmallow because of the WiFi issue in Nougat, so i did it and didn't backed up the DRM keys(i didn't knew i am supposed to do it. It wasn't mentioned in the tutorial i was following or i missed it). Anyways now i am on marshmallow and i am unable to update it VIA xperia companion. It complains that bootloader is unlocked. Now if i lock the bootloader will xperia companion will work ? What is the affect of the lost DRM keys ? And if anyone knows the WiFi issue is sovled or not ?
