CM7 ? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Update : I am asking if anyone knows anything i am not trying to say there is something.
Rom Manager now shows Epic 4g Touch as an option and is allowing me to flash it from there does that mean that we might have CM7 out there?

if my ass was yo ass id reflash a kernel with the correct cwm recovery if you were quick to jump the gun on that rom manger recovery flash
edit: dam my ass is slow tonight

You mean, cwm, not cm7. That means Koush just added cwm app support for the et4g.

hmm
Last time i saw Kosh update this right before the release of CM7 for ATT, that why i am asking if anyone knew anything

That's the worst thing a person can do!!!!1111

I know
Its a mortal sin ! How dare you ! I dare because i will be building a rom based on it , i will add language support to it and make it all pretty I am excited for even the possibility cause i am tierd of this stock crap and battery drain **** !

yes i understand but it still is not DEVELOPEMENT ... It has nothing to do with it at all ....There are at least one or two posted everyday about cm7 and it still has nothing to do with Dev ....come on you should know better .... I bet you would not do this if they handed out week bans for it . Dont just do stupid stuff . If you were following koush already said he was not going to dev the rom and codeworkx said koush would probably pass the phone to unhelpful on teamhacksung . This belongs in GENERAL

So hold off on flashing with rom manager for now?

I wouldn't try.
I attempted two days ago and it failed via ROM Manager.
Then I tried using cwm to flash it, and I got a similar failure message. Could just have been me, but I doubt it.

What does today's Clockwork Mod update do for us?

Koush twittered that we had a treat coming our way last night. I downloaded the latest update to Clockwork Mod and noticed that when we select a recovery for the Epic it now asks if you have manually installed a version of Recovery and if so it asks what version. Basically, I want to know what this does for us. I know previously if you tried to install a rom from the Rom Manager, it would fail do it automatically and you would have to manually do everything from the recovery. Does this change make the Rom flashing process automated?
v4.0.0.8 is the version I'm talking about.

You obviously like to pick and choose the rules you follow. Isn't "no flaming" part of the guidelines to posting?
But I'm sure you don't need to read the rules atop that high horse of yours.
Last time I checked stating an observation wasn't flaming.
In fact you're actually getting closer to flaming by trying to directly insult me if I want to be pedantic. But I'm not going to argue with somebody on the internet.
Hopefully we can get an official recovery for the epic. I love my wife's recovery amon ra. I wish we could get that.

Don't think anyone was trying to be rude. Everyone's a little on edge due to some folks having issues even on stock, thankfully I'm not one of them, and/or issues with the rooted kernels, then when someone comes in here and makes a thread that plain ole common sense or a few minutes of reading would satisfy it probably starts to feel like babysitting a gaggle of impatient 3 year olds...

If you get the stock sprint/samsung kernel it will take away the yellow caution sign/exclamation mark at boot correct?
I downloaded and used SPH-D710_Zedomax_EpicTouchKernel-v1 and I am getting that yellow sign now. Just want to know if I unrooted if it would take that off.

Get into download mode and flash stock pulled kernel in Odin, from Chris41g. The one with cwm included. You will be looking for the tar file, not the zip. Unless you still have cwm installed. Then you could use zip file.
You may not be aware, but you should have placed this in general section. Mods will move it.

ROM Manager works fine for me, including booting to a CWM recovery that is not the same as the one packed with the kernel.
As for the OP, easiest thing to do to get CWM is to flash a stock kernel that has been repacked with CWM which you will need to do through ODIN.
rom manager works, but not with a stock kernel, must have a kernel with CWM or variant recovery.. and it only fakeflashes not actual flash the recovery..

What is is about the stock recovery that prevents properly booting to the version of CWM installed by ROM Manager? Does it not support the redirection Koush? I know his version actually installs CWM to somewhere besides the kernel partition.

I have never had that problem. I flashed a kernel and rom manager was working fine. Tru re flashing the kernel your using.

rommanager doesnt install a recovery at all, it fakeflashes recovery, so you have to have a cwm compatible recovery first anyway..

there is no link to non touch cuz they can be easy updated via rom manager ( i explained in the op ) and i put only the touch version there cuz people like that one, ill put the non touch latter (its there its just private).
the diference is huge, Sk8r recovery is better cus it have more options, but this one is stock clockwork recovery for people like me that use the stock recovery. both Sk8r and this are builded with the same source. so Sk8r have the plus thing they added!

Nontouch is running good! Hey op u said your making a flashable of nontouch? I just wanna have a flashable downloaded to have instead of using rom mananger
Good look on this one... was trying to flash a newerROM and this made it more simple... suggestion tho, on the flash settings as you go to flash a ROM and you have to confirm the action, the screen need to be smaller. Kinda threw me off not knowing the new format. I almost rebooted thinking there was no way to confirm task. But for a noob like me its a lil confusing. Just an observation. wiped the settings as needed without the need to any other scripts so thats a good thing.. thanks for the contribution

the only known issue ( and it was fixed by David ferguson ) was the USB moounting and the format bug, wish david ferguson fixed in 6.0.1.1 and after a long thest and optimixing i can say that this recovery is solid as sk8r recovery.
i dont know if you are flaming trolling or what ever, but people need to test things first and then report.
and one more time, this recovery is super stable, no issues found
