Noob question here... Can someone eXplain to me what the advantages and disadvantages to under volting are? I saw it in the oC/UV beater but don't know what I'm doing. I tried set all to -25 and it locked up.

Pros
-When you increase volt on high Frequencies it makes them stable, so 1.8GHz can be made stable
-Lower Volts mean more battery
Cons
-Increasing/lowering it to much can lockup phone
You should change each individual volt, every phone can't handle the same voltage range, some can go lower and others higher....

how is this a "Pro" of undervolting?

this would be more clear if you say: -Lower Volts mean more battery life

Hello i been wanting to see what kind of settings people have on their voltage control that give them great battery life. I currently have -75 on everything from 1ghz all the way down and -50 at 200mhz. I'm getting pretty good life on that. Anything better?

Every phone is different. You have to find the numbers that work best for you with no freezes, force closes or not waking up.
Which one do you think provides the best battery life and performance?

The one that shuts your phone completely off...LOL.
All kidding aside, the only thing I have seen actually provide better battery life with these is to lower the max speed. Even the author of SetCPU says you can have performance or better battery life, not both. I believe SetCPU provides more options for profiles whereas Voltage control lets you play with voltages which of course is very dangerous for stability. There are so many options in both that it will be hard to get a definitive answer and since every phone is different, Your Mileage May Vary.

With voltage control (and now setcpu), you can undervolt and overclock which could theoretically give you performance and speed. I'm a setcpu supporter, btw.

I'm undervolting with tegrak right now because I can't with setcpu. Definitely worth the money
It also depends what you are running. Voltage Control won't work with Gingerbread leaks and Tegrak with SetCPU is working nicely to prevent the random reboots in the leaks.

I was bored just messing around with overclocking with Tegrak. I was at 1350mV for a couple of minutes, it didn't seem to help my overclock stability. It might just be maxxed out though. What's the highest you guys have heard of?

Why do you want HIGHER voltages?
Tegrak limits you to 1400mv I'm sure for a resson so I use it for stabilizing 1.4ghz. Also raising internal voltage to 1150mv helps too.

You usually need higher voltages to maintain a stable overclock. I'm just wondering how high I can go so I don't destroy my phone, which probably isn't even possible with doing this.
just a little information/ competition to see which SGS2 is the best , i want to see how low of a voltage you can go. I am using Stability test to test out the voltage, 3 round of classic test at 1.73ghz at 1125mV, and it stable, a little scare to go down more but here some info on my SGS2
running
beastmod 4.2
kernel 2.3.6
Was running originally at 1175 but i undervolt to 1125 and running stable at a stable temp of 41-42..
what's yours
be careful with such drastic undervolting at those frequencies, could result in corrupt nand.

This isn't undrevolting..... this is underclocking.
Undervolting is pretty dangerous with trial and error. The lowest I'll go is -75.
And my frequencies at min 384 and mas 1350 ondemand

no underclocking meaning i would use less ghz than the stock, this is minimizing the voltage on the core.
what your doing is underclock, i put mine fixed on 1.73ghz at 1125mV of voltage

I have never heard of such thing, i'm not doubting you but from over the years, i heard undervolting have positive affect on the CPU by lowering temp and give battery more juice.
where did you get those facts from?

As far as I know, there are no dangers associated with undervolting. I run at those frequencies too at -112.5 and have never had a problem of any sort.
I run about 1ghz. No under volt with this ics kernel but with my old gb kernel I undervilted with faux -100 at 1ghz...ran cool even with games and video, great battery life. And honestly 1ghz is plenty for snappy fast speed

I don't know if you're familiar with overclocking, but the same type of stability issues can occur. When you're undervolting you can think of your stock speed as an "overclock" and you're just trying to minimize the voltage necessary for stability. If you undervolt too much you can experience freezing, corruption, bad lag, etc. It's all the same process for desktop computers, laptops, and anything else you can play with the voltage.
Personally I'm at -62.5, but after seeing how low people are going I might be a bit more adventurous. Don't use the "Set at Boot" option when you're experimenting.

I did it gradually...and the fact that I was at 1ghz might have also made it possible. Started at -50 since most had said it was safe...then tried 60 then 75 then 90 then maxed at 100...worked beautifully.
I have heard and it is true that phones are made very different. Some exact same models can't oc or UV as high or low as others...I got lucky with a really good model...my old nexus S couldn't oc to 1.4 without freezing while others could.

Right, I meant that there are no risks to undervolting in terms of physical damage to your phone, only stability issues which is fixed with a reboot, assuming you didn't set at boot. Overclocking is a bit different in that the risk overclocking presents in addition to stability issues is the risk of overheating which can permanently damage your phone. Undervolting can compensate for this somewhat by letting the power supplied to the processor and thus reducing the risk of overheat.

I use system tuner, you can also look for Gideons script that is flashable in cwm to undervolt.
Im undervolted to -75mv for quite some time running a script clocked at 1.518min384

I just over clocked, well I should say tried because it's not even working. I set the min/max at 1.5MHz but for some reason it's not using it at all, in CPU spy it's showing that it's staying at 800MHz. Anyone know why it would be doing this? I'm running Rujelus 1.0.4.8, with Agats 0.5.4.

You must mean 1500 MHz. What program are you using to overclock? Also, what is your governor?

Yeah sorry, and the governor is pegasusq, and using ExTweaks. Would it be because it was on the charger? Well actually I don't think it could be, because before doing that I set min at 1200MHz and max at 1500 while still on the charger and it was staying on 1200.

No, I've never messed with that because I don't know what exactly I am doing with it, and I don't want to mess up my phone.
I just realized that I had profiles on, so I turned them off. Still isn't working right, I have min at 1500 MHz and max at 1600MHz. It kicks into 1600 for a few seconds but then scales below the min. Here's a screen shot of the setting and CPU spy.

Often when you overclock additional voltage is needed to run stable at higher frequencies. You may try increasing the voltage slightly to see if it works. I wouldnt go over +.50mv from stock
if your still having problems try viperROM. i got it working with oc. 1600Mhz. even got a higher smartbench scrore then my nexus 7
