question about streaming music on my SGS2?? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I have a weird problem maybe someone could help me? I use my phone everynite as i work overnites and i stream music from my google music player 5 nites a week. But heres the weird problem? When i had my vibrant it would play music endlessly for hours with no buffering, no dead space between songs. Now that i have this phone it doesnt play it continously anymore, it will buffer between songs for like anywhere from a min up to 5 min. I know its not the building because my vibrant played fine in it???
Do i need to change my network mode? is there anything i can do to fix it? Is anyone else having this problem??? ty for ur help guys!!!
its not a major problem, just a small annoyance hoping i can fix!

From my experience I think it has to do with the library not being synchronize to the phone yet.
It played fine on your Vibrant because it was synced to it, now that you got a new phone it needs to sync in it's entirely in order to play continuously.
On my phone (not a SGS2, yet) it does the same thing, but I'm constantly switching roms so it never gets to completely synchronize.
I would say just give it some time and it will eventually all sync.
It helps if you got it connected to wifi. Less buffering.
Not sure if changing any settings can help other than going to the app and selecting the option to hide unavailable music.

lets hope ur right because its annoying!!

[Q] Music stops when switching apps...

While I've been a member of XDA for quite a while (since my early days with a TyTn II), I've never posted. Mostly because I've always found an applicable post regarding my interest, need, problem, etc.. Can't find anything this time!
I recently upgraded from an original Moto Droid to the Incredible (bought off E-Bay) and have two annoying issues.
The biggest is that, unlike the Moto Droid, the music stops whenever I switch from music player to another app. On the Droid, I could go to the home screen or browser, etc and still listen to music. The weird thing is that it still exhibits the same behavior after rooting and loading the latest JagerRom. Is this just normal for the Incredible?
The second problem (not so much), is that the phone refuses to automatically pull my apps down from the Market after an upgrade or factory restore. It syncs Contacts and email just fine, but I've had to reload my apps manually after each restore and the switch to JagerRom. It's had this issue since day one.
Any thoughts/advice would be much appreciated!
how are you accessing your music? to start it playing? I noticed that if you go through a file manager and play a song you have to leave the music app open or if when you back out it will stop but if you go to the music app and start it then you can back out and it will play in the background fine. Make sense?
Thanks for the reply. I'm playing purely from within the stock player. That's why I'm baffled by the problem.

hmm thats very strange. not sure what to tell you on that. Ill try to rack my brain some more and let ya know if I come up with anything.
I thought I should chime in here also. I am also experiencing this issue. Seems like navigation is killing pandora instead of muting it. Very annoying on road trips, a fix would be much appreciated.

[Q] Google Music app issues

I really couldn't stand the default music app on this phone, so I decided to pull the Google app from the market. Here's what the problem is.
If I start my random shuffle after plugging in my headphone cable, it will play the first song. Then, it stops. If I hit the power button or unplug the cable, the next song starts playing. I have to do this for every song.
Has anyone else tried that music player and experienced this?
(and for some reason I can never, ever put these things in the right forum. *facepalm*)
I have a similar problem with this app on my sgs2 too! But on my sgs2 i stream at work everynite with the google music app on my vibrant it streamed flawless with no gapps of dead air BUT with my sgs2 it buffers between every song! i know its not the building because my vibrant played perfectly in there. but between every song i wait anywhere between 30 sec to a few min until the next song plays on random, i never waited anytime on my vibrant!!!
THIS IS MY ONLY COMPLAINT ABOTU MY SGS2, I LOVE THIS PHONE, SO THIS COMPLAINT IS SMALL COMPARED TO MOST PEOPLE
This is one of two problems I have. The other, and very much more serious issue, is that the alarm clock function fails 20% of the time to ever go off. I'm trying a replacement app to see if the behavior is app or rom related.
My google music app won't reliably play offline music while offline. When I play a song, it will skip crazy fast through songs, stop on one and play it, then repeat. It's very annoying. This will happen with songs that are on my sd card as well, so it's not completely the app's fault.
I think samsung may have setup something weird to force you to use their music player. I was having similar weird issues with ubermusic, which NEVER gave me any issues. quite the coincidence...

Thats something u need to either reflash rom, or take phone back!!! i would would say odin back to stock but we dont have that yet. I use my alarm on my phone 6 days a week and it has never failed on me.
My google music app plays fine just not flawless like the vibrant which it should be the other way around, when i say flawless i mean no dead gaps of airtime, buffering etc

I've been thinking about flashing, but was really hoping to wait until something cleaner, say, CM7, was available. Flashing tweaked stock roms feels kind of pointless, but with the issues I'm having I'm starting to get concerned...

I also have this problem. I want to uninstall this bullcrap but can't. Well I know I can but I don't want to go that route yet.
Also, have you experienced your songs missing from your playlists when using the other music player? I was soooo mad. It takes soo much time just to go thru and organize it. IDK WTH happened to it. The playlists are still there but no songs!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

This happens to me every time. I am about to go back to 4.0.4 if they do not fix this quick.
It only started with the Jelly Bean update.

[Q] Google Play Music "All Access" Streaming Errors

The new Google Play Music update has caused some real headache for me and, as I'm finding, a number of other LG Optimus G owners. I get a couple minutes into a song and then everything stops. Error message: "Couldn't play the stream you requested."
As an experiment, I played Mackelmore's "Thrift Shop" 14x this morning (I am so sick of that song now) and the track stops within 2-3 seconds of the 2:35 mark every single time. This is not a problem on my Nexus 7. This is not a problem on my PC. This is only a problem on my phone.
3G, 4G, Wifi. same result, my songs stop playing mid-way through.
Riding in my car or sitting at my desk or in my living room, same result, my songs stop playing mid-way through.
My tracks or All Access tracks, same result, my songs stop playing mid-way through.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue and, if so, how have you fixed it.
Thanks.
Update
Just got a reply from Support. They obviously did not read my email.
Hello Ryan,
Thanks for contacting our support team.
Playback issues can occur if your internet connection was lost or the speed of your connection changed while streaming. In addition, it is possible that there is an issue with the music file that you originally downloaded.
If the problem occurs while streaming music, please try playing the original file you added locally to determine if this is related to your internet connection. The issue is most likely related to your internet connection if the problem doesn't occur when playing the original file.
Please let me know if you have any other Google Play questions that I can further assist with.
Best Regards,
Samantha
I'm having this problem on the AT&T version of this phone. The problem appears to go deeper than mere connectivity: I'll get the error even with music that I have "pinned" (downloaded to my phone for offline listening). And I too have seen multiple LGOG users with this issue -- and no one else.
I think I'll have to try loading a custom ROM when I get home. I really hope the problem isn't the hardware itself, but I'm not optimistic.

Lovely. There's also a thread over at productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/mobile/A01ByhnMKOQ that might be helpful. Thanks.
I haven't been using the app too much (maybe about 3 hours worth of listening, both All Access and my tracks, since yesterday) but I haven't encountered any issues. I am rooted and running EOS, if that matters.
ATT version here
if i have a song playing from all acess, not locally orginated, it will stop playing at about 2:30 min - 3:00 min. If i start the song over and try to skiip to the part it stopped on, it ill play for about 4 seconds and then same error again.
Any fix for this? is it just too new?
I'm also having this problem but it doesn't occur with my Asus transformer pad. Does running a custom rom fix this?

I don't think this is a hardware issue. I hope as more updates are released this is fixed but idk how soon that it is.

I'm also having this issue. But I'm sprint LG Optimus G rooted 4.1. I've tried several things related to streaming errors in the past like making sure the hosts file is ok as well as setting lpa.decode to false. But no dice.

I just installed EOS and so far I'm several songs in without it stopping. So, yes I think a custom ROM fixes this.
Thats good. Im just scared to unlock my bootloader because my freegee bricked me last time lol
Same issue here. Also whenever I try to start a "radio" it just tells me the "radio could not start"
Seems this new version is broken for us as the older version worked fine.
I'll just stick to iheart for now and see what they do to fix it.
I'm on CM10.1 and do have this issue once in a while. It's very rare though.
So sad.. Updated to the latest version, hoping it would fix the problem. I got past that 2:35 mark! But only just past. Still busted. Still waiting for Google support.

I was able to get in contact with google support and send them some logs when the problem occurred. Anyone else who has the problem try and get ahold of support and tell them that you've already tried to reinstall the app, reboot the phone and clear it's cache. Send them the logs too if you can.

Are you sure this works? Have you done it?
It worked for a few hours, after that everything went back to the same issue. I moved to an asop rom and it is working just fine. I guess the problem is related with the lg rom

Google Music stops playing randomly.

Hi all,
I've read threads about this for different phones, but didn't see any for this one (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong).
But, my phone- stock T-Mobile S3- will randomly cut out and stop playing my music when I'm using Google Music.
I tried one of the solutions in a thread, where they advised to turn the volume down... that didn't work. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling... updating Google Music, etc. That didn't work either. The problem still occurs. I downloaded an album from Google Music onto my internal storage and it still skips even on that, so to me that tells me it's not a streaming or Internet issue.
Does anyone know of a way to fix this? I'd prefer to not have to root, but I'm open to the idea somewhere down the line.
Regards,
-Proxin
It still crashes frequently. Not much you can do about it. Need to wait for Google to fix it.

Thanks for the response- I'm relieved to hear at least I'm not the only one with the issue. Hopefully they'll have an update soon.
