Bought a used EVO and this is what it has:
hboot 2.10.0001
radio 2.15.00.07.28
android 2.2
build 3.26.651.6
pri 1.90_003
prl 01115
All the root methods are labeled as defunct for 2.2 in the wiki. Suggestions/links?
If I'm not mistaken you should be able to use the unrEVOked method to root your phone.

Correct, unrevoked works for froyo [2.2] and revolutionary is for gingerbread [2.3+].

Ok, looked through the PRI threads and not seeing this. People who are rooted all seem to have used same engineering HBoot and have a PRI of 1.34_xxx. The 2.1 update 1 should have a PRI of 1.40 (I think, but different anyway).
So...people who were rooted but then loaded the 2.2 OTA...can you check what your PRI is? I am sure that the HBoot probably was not part of the 2.2 update, but still have a 'but what if' floating around in my head.
(If you are unsure...Menu>Settings>About Phone>Software Information> PRI (towards bottom))
Was rooted, downgraded to 2.1,loaded the leaked .3 and then used the leaked ruu to upgrade tp .6 and my PRI is 1.34_003
Neither the leaked nor the official ota upgraded the pri to 1.4.
Was rooted, did leaked .3 update, then OTA .6 update.
Have 1.40_003

Were you rooted with unrevoked?
From what I understand, anyone who was at some point NAND unlocked is stuck with the 1.34 pri

You were not fully rooted....because full root downgraded the PRI. You must have used unrevoked?

Was fully rooted with NAND Unlock, upgraded to leaked .3 version, then upgraded to Unofficial .6 Version, and still stuck at 1.34 PRI.

Did u check unrevoked method of rooting??
your details suggest unrevoked would be a good method for you to root.
hollar at me on gtalk if you need help
btw u posted in the wrong section
Your baseband and PRI versions are not up to date. I would suggest you perform an OTA update (should update you to version 3.29....version 3.30 is for hardware 0004). The one click Unrevoked 3.21 method will still root even if you are updated to 3.29.
Of course you don't have to do the OTA update, you can flash the radio/WiMAX/PRI by downloading the flash zip that's on the XDA forums once you are rooted and have either ClockworkMOD or Amon_RA recovery installed.
I have been trying to get this loaded but the zip file doesnt unpack a recovery file and an update.zip. Some help would really make a brother smile
? Just follow the unrevoked 3.21 thread to root your phone.
[ROOT] unrEVOked 3.21: one-click root for Froyo, no downgrading
[GUIDE] One Click How to Root EVO with Unrevoked 3.21 *NEW EVO'S WONT WORK 11.16.10*
Android Version 2.2
Baseband Version 2.15.00
Kernal Version 2.6.32.15-ge2f608
Build number 3.29.651.5
Software number 3.29.651.5
PRI version 1.77_003
Hardware version 0002
HBoot 0.97
Radio 2.15.00
Tried rooting with unrevoked 3.21. At the end of the process is says "Failed to flash recovery image." Recovery image clockwordMod Recovery.
I had rooted previously and then updated and lost root. I still have superuser permission app.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have gone through many of the previous threads, but have not been able to figure out why the unrevoked method would not work for me considering my HBoot is not 2.02.
Thanks!!!

when you boot into bootloader, do you have s-on or s-off?
s-on

try running unrevoked forever to take your s-on to s-off...read below first
http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/forever
Thanks. Will try and see what happens.

I do not have a custom recovery. can I still use unrevoked forever?

Maybe try downloading and running an official 3.29.651.5 RUU and then try unrevoked3 again to root.
yes if you do not have a custom recovery download a RUU from this link...http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Supersonic
after downloading the ruu...plug your phone in and run it and then it will revert your phone back to stock...then you can try agian to root
good luck
My phone is running stock. I have never flashed a ROM. I had used unrevoked previously. I did not save any of the settings. When I updated, I lost root. My HBoot is 0.97, so I am unsure why unrevoked will not work for me. I do not have the ability to change ROMs or for a custom recovery. I do not have ClockworkMod recovery. So I do not think I can use unrevoked forever, or use any other ROMs.
I am in need if some help. My EVO is rooted with unrevoked (not sure what OLDER version) it also has MikFroyo v4.2 Baseband version 1.39.00.05.31 Kernel 2.6.32.17 - gee557fd
htc-kernel (at) and 18-2 # 15 Software Number 3.70.651.1
I was wanting to put the newest versions of Unrevoked and MikFroyo, tried running the Unrevoked v3.32 and it said unsupported radio version. Is there any way to fix this problem since the phone still has root? I bought the phone and it came with this on it already. It also has a custom boot screen I would like to change or put back to stock. thanks
pleeeeeeeeeeese?
You don't need to run unrevoked again if you're already rooted. Just backup, wipe, and flash the rom
We're comin from a pure power source.

According to the unrevoked Wiki, your baseband version isn't supported.
Code:
HTC EVO 4G, running radio baseband versions:
1.36.00.04.02
1.39.00.04.26
2.05.00.06.10
2.15.00.07.21
2.15.00.07.28
2.15.00.09.01
2.15.00.11.19
So, you need to flash a PC36IMG/RUU of a version that IS supported. Of course, you will lose your custom recovery, but unrevoked3 will take care of that for you. And I recommend using Amon_RA v2.3 and ditching CWM.
Whoops, didn't look past the first couple numbers..sorry
