Brick Phone - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I was trying to flash my phone to a different room and I do not know what I did wrong. I was in Starbust, then I wanted to try Viper. Do I did a factory wipe, wipe cache, dalvik and system format. Then I did an update of viper and I did wipe cache, dalvik and system format, that's when problems started. I try to recover thought clock work, but it came to mind to just used Odinv1.85 but for reason I downloaded the wrong one. I downloaded the old epic Odin and when I realize I did that I unplugged it. So now I can even start clockwork or Odindownload mode..when you hold volume down and power. The only thing I get is a blue light on the top...Help???

Odin is odin there is no odin for epic and different for epic touch if you were using odin and just pulled cable while flashing you were stupid and bricked your phone for no reason congratulations that is why you read and make sure what your doing is right before you hit the go button

If all you get is the blue light, then it's hard bricked. You'll need to call sprint and play dumb or file a claim. Sorry for your luck but the idea bricked my first touch as well.

And Odin is completely Gone!!!

Enjoy paying the $100 fee to get a new phone instead of taking 30 minutes to read the Odin Guide and figure **** out. Seriously, its not hard.

Unfortunately, the TEP covers this sort of crap.
Respectfully, if you don't know what you're doing/can't read don't root.

I do know how to root I just simply was not paying attention. But now I am fully rooted using Viper Rom....I was only asking for opinions not people reprimand me..The first and last time I brick a phone..

Help with phone please

OK guys I was on FB17. I wanted to flash the deodexed version so I flashed the temp touch recovery. I went to wipe data and it froze. I held power down and the phone wouldn't go past the black samsung galaxy SII screen. So I went into download mode to Odin el29. It hangs on data.img everytime. I tried like 8 times( I Odin all the time and never had one fail before) so then I try the el29 that doesn't wipe data. It flashes fine but the phone boots into stock recovery and just gives errors saying data directory does not exist. How can I fix this? Sounds like my data partition is messed up and thats why Odin hangs on data.img

Yeah, that's what happened to me. I had to take it in to a Sprint repair center, and even they couldn't fix it. I had to have mine swapped for a new one. Seems like the Touch CWM is borking data partitions.

This sucks. I even tried to use repartition with a pit file and it still hangs on data.img. I've never had this happen before. Like I said I've Odin with this phone like ten times and never had one fail.

What should i do with my brick?

So, i think i bricked my device. Downloaded caulkin rom and tried to flash it. when i booted into rogue rootbloater i flashed the rom from my downloads. my bad. why does it matter though whether or not i flash from internal or external memory. annnd ?
It doesnt matter if the rom is in the internal or sd unless dev says something about it in op. As far as your brick, im not understanding fully what you mean

What makes you think you're bricked? What happens when you try to power the phone on?

so lets say after you pull battery you press the power button....nothing happens?
Pull the battery
Put it back in
press power and see what happens
-- You can also...
Pull the battery
Put the battery back in
press vol down + power and try to get into odin mode
If you can get into Odin mode, then you're not bricked.

Do you want help or not? The E4GT is a very difficult phone to brick and 9 times out of 10 when a noob thinks their phone is bricked, it's actually easily recoverable. But if you don't help us help you, you might as well just toss the phone down the garbage disposal.
Can you get into download mode?
Hahhahhahahahaa that's all I wanna say

Lol if you don't want to be helped then sell the phone to me. Should the bidding be started at ummm lets say $20.

LMFAO ha +1 made my day. Still, I think it must be hard to drop to this level of brain capacity.

Did I Brick? Stuck at Android Recovery Screen

Rooted...no issue there.
Installed ROM Manger.
Installed Clockwork Recovery from Rom Manager as I wanted to install a new rom.
Now when I boot, no matter what combination I hold down, it goes to the Android System Recovery screen and in the background is the white triangle, yellow exclamation point and little android guy.
I can move between the three ofered choices but pressing the power button (I assume this is the OK button) does nothing.
Thoughts / help?
Does your computer recognize it? If it does you should try adb download and see if you can get into download mode

Have you even tried pressing any of the soft keys, home button?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Just realized I posted the question in the wrong forum as well.
Computer makes a noise as though it knows it's connected, yet it doesn't show up and odin and kies don't find it either.
I think home button is select and power button is back, but I haven't used stock in a long time, so might be remembering incorrectly.
I suggest you don't use Rom Manager to install recovery. It doesn't work properly for this phone and could lead to non-recoverable problems.
Read this thread and you'll have references to everything you need to undo and start from scratch:

I don't know for the life of me why people still use Rom manager to install roms.
I think they are probably HTC converts because nothing here is asking them to use ROM manager.

I came over from an Evo and believe me everything pointed to not use Rom Manager when I had my phone as well. I agree that if people took the time to read properly they would see that Rom Manager and a few other crazy things they do are not suggested. But they make sure to have time to post and read their threads when they screw up. Honestly with all the brick laying and blue light specials up in herrre. Do you really need to post your problem and how do you fix it...
His problem is one of 100 exactly the same in here and instead of searching and helping himself he did the same lazy thing that got him stuck in the first place. Then too lazy to find out how to work CWM. Quite sure he will be back again if he keeps up this route... @OP not trying to be an ass but just hate to see people who don't want to help themselves.
Sorry to hear that you've bricked OP. Hope you can get a replacement and get back into owning your phone.
Here's what I've done to avoid bricking since I am also somewhat new to the E4GT...
Read the forums on XDA.
Observed what others are doing that worked.
Didn't flash anything you are unsure of.
Became familiar with ODIN.
Stayed away from ROM manager.
Flashed using el29 rogue recovery only. (I've been successful with this so far, others say to use el26.)
Wipd cache/dalvik-cache/data/system.
Purchased mobile ODIN, $5 is better than the deductible to get a replacement.

I bricked but it was a bad recovery well not bad just messy team trolls recovery bricked me 2 weeks ago wiping Cache . But as always when u post questions like this here ur gonna hear it lol but searching helps.
Now if its hard bricked ud not even get to recovery at all just a blue light and a black screen that if is ur case unplug it cause it runs the battery super hot .
If not in that position than try power and volume down if it does not bring u to download mode to Odin another recovery if that don't work idk

Porting was needed for CWM recovery. Not ROM Manager. Support for ROM Manager comes from device devs, not koush. In the form of uploading vetted software, that doesn't corrupt. It is a universal starting point, not a fully functional product.
But regardless, I wasn't even talking about it's support. I was saying people other than ones with HTC devices can get into the habit of using ROM Manager.

Doesn't matter the recovery is in the kernel and rom manager will not work on this phone ....there is no separate recovery partition and ROM manager won't flash the recovery right on here since it's part of the kernel partition.koush doesn't really care he made it to temporarily flash a recovery like touch that might work if not for ics kernels... The thing is it doesn't work people should not rely on it like a crutch

[Q] Any suggestion on a e4gt rom that DOES NOT require a wipe

i did a search but nothing useful popped up, i saw where the Motorola Photon 4G has a rom called the kitchen sink, that doesnt make you wipe, allowing you to keep all your data but gives you the benefits of a rom. thanks
If your just stock el29 rooted. just flash calks 3.0, im sure blazer would work to.but i did calks. I flashed back to stock a few nights ago and decided to flash calks real quick to real quick.everything is fine here. No data loss or anything. Any rom should work from stock rooted, just its healthy to clear data and what not when going between roms.

Be sure you read everything! Do not be impatient or you WILL brick your phone. Mobile Odin will become your best friend and is well worth a few bucks.
Should you lose your data, you will learn that its really not that bad. After switching to aokp I never restored my apps or data but instead just re-downloaded the apps I wanted. Never felt any regret.

Wiping is good, it keeps the flies away and people won't avoid you, besides who wants to walk around with messy pants all day. Always wipe.
Its good for you and for your phone.

Bricked n got few questions

So I accidently flashed wrong ROM(cyan instead of AKOP) so I went back into recovery did full wipe, dark cache wipe n flashed akop, hit reboot system n bam...... phone is not coming on.
I've tried to boot in recovery n download mode but it just doesn't responde to anything. I even let it seat with battery out n tried botting with out sd n SIM card...
I end up going to Tmo store on my lunch break, rep pluged my phone in into the charger(thou it was fully charged before that) n tried to mess w it...obviously no luck so he ordered me replacement phone which came in this morning.
Anyways my questions r will they b able to find out it was rooted cuz I remeber seen something about them now checking if phone was rooted .....also I had some let's say pictures for my eyes only on my phones storage as well as some music n movie I torrented.....I take it as there is no way of recovering that...
