[Q] Camcorder with zoom / volume rocker zoom

I've checked the forums and have come up dry. I don't want to flash another ROM, i'm happy with mine (see sig). I do, however, miss the ability to zoom that was implemented in the sense rom I was using before this one. I believe it was virtuous sense 3.0 and I think even CM7 does this where you can zoom WHILE recording and use the volume rocker to do so. can i Flash just the cam app on my HTC G2 / DZ to be able to get this?

I'm looking for a camera apk which incorporates volume rocker controlled zooming while capturing video. I had it in a previous rom i flashed though this was the ONLY thing I miss about that rom. I think it was a virtuous rom but not sure. If anyone could please tell me which builds have this camera functionality and if you can share the apk so i can try adding it to my personal installation of miui i'd be so happy.

why not just tear the camera.apk out of the rom and try it in yours...? Thats what I'd do... just do a backup and if it doesnt play nice reflash the backup. You wont have lost anything...

That's fine. How do I grab the apk?
Edit: nvm, figured out how. still can't get a camera apk which has the zoom while recording feature to work though.

Just retested and if I understand correctly,you want to be able to zoom in/out while recording video? Well on unity 1.31 which is where the camera app that I uploaded for you came from, volume controlled zoom works.

Even if you did find a Camera.apk, if your rom doesnt support its features such as, Volume Button Zoom in and Out, then it still wont allow you to use that specific feature. The Camera.apk built into the Rom is the most functional with all features working, otherwise it wouldnt be there. You can try but I doubt the Rom will allow it to force that feature considering it isnt the Camera.apk that came with that specific Rom. Sorry I could be wrong but i've been through this issue in another thread, so im trying to save you time.

hi i wanted to know if its possible to take pictures with volume button without using 3rd party apps. thanks

Custom ROMs. There's a camera mod that you can flash if you are unlocked with custom recovery that will let you do this, and greatly improve overall camera quality.

if u use viperx ROM then u can choose any of the 3 capacitive buttons to take pics too

I tried the mod and it not only allows that but it also allows you to increase your image res. and your bitrate for video recording.

Only problem I've had with that MOD is that if you disable the burst limit (from 20 to unlimited) it'll crash around 30 pictures or so.

[Q] t989 with slim ben rom can't record video in low quality formats

Hello, i have the t989 and loaded the slim bean rom on it and everything works perfectly. However, Previously with the stock rom I could record in lower quality formats like 240, etc, but now in the video camera the lowest quality setting it will let me record in is 480p. Is there a way to record the lower quality videos. my wife like to take short small videos that can be sent via whats app to family.

Anyone have any info?

yeah im running slim i checked every where i dont see any other option try downloading ICS camera and see if they have the option in there its relatively the same cam

Thanks I downloaded every camera I could find on the store, Camera JB+, ICS Camera, Camera 360, Camera+, none of them give the option.

did you tri camera fx or something like that thats another popular one .. just a thought man trying to help you lol

Thanks. Yeah, tried that one too. The apps must just take the settings from the rom and only use what is available according to the rom. I'd prefer to not go back to the stock rom if possible, but need to look for one that supports lower video qualities.

[Q] The best Rom/Kernel combo for filming

I'm currently on SlimKat 4.4.4 with AgniKernl on my t0lte and the default camera app only records sound in the right channel and has a massive tint problem towards the blue. Other apps such as IgCamera have issues such as the video format switching from 16:9 to some wierd format that compresses the image vertically whenever i press the Record button. Agni is not the default kernel for this rom, so it could be the problem. But i really need a kernel in which i can alter the screen colors as i have a green tint on my phone without such a trick, and Agni is the only kernel i know in which i can do this by simply altering a couple of text files.
I'd like to start filming in unflinching 1080p with my phone. What i'd like to know is what combination of rom and kernel (other than all-stock, i guess) that works really well for the t0lte when filming. I don't even remember what it was like being on stock on this phone as it was so long ago. But does the camera work really well there? Does anyone know if an advanced app such as IgCamera works well in stock? I'd love to use a more professional app in which i can alter data-rates etc.
