Does any fellow CAN know of any Telus store with stock in their inventory?
dying to get one, but every where i call they said it either run out, or have not reach them yet, or end of the month
why don't you just get tmobile version?

Damn, you still haven't gotten your GS2? I would of thought by now you've gotten it. Your practically part of the GS2 family. You've been mingling and answering questions for a while now.

Stupid Question, I have been scouring the internet, but is the Telus Version on the SGS2 going to have the same radio as the T-Mobile Version? Just wondering, as I want to get it for Wind Mobile here in canada. tx.
yes, it's the same phone
just locked to Telus instead of Tmobile
available next Friday 28 $599.99
Sweet! Thanks for the quick response! Now to decide T-Mobile or Telus....529 USD vs. 599 CAD plus tax
Hate to break it to you guys but telus uses the same bands as ATT not tmobile. Unless something has recently changed, telus shares the same network with bell. Im currently using a telus dhd on bell.
The Telus SG2 appears to have the same specs as the T-Mobile Version (larger Screen size, and 1.5 ghz processor) than the other versions of the SG2 that are out there. From everything I have seen and read on line, the T-Mobile version radio will support 3g on AT&T, so I am hoping that the telus version will be the same as the T-Mo. I currently have a T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant, and it works 3G on both At&T (Rogers) or T-Mobile (Wind/Mobilicity).
Based on Telus website information:
telusmobility.com/fr/QC/samsung_galaxy_s_II_x/index.shtml
The Samsung Galaxy S II should be compatible with 1700 and 2100 MHZ (required for T-Mobile but also for Videotron Quebec network).
Hope that these information on the Telus website are true!
Good day!
I went for the T-Mobile one, I'm on Mobilicity in Vancouver. Found a retailer selling it for $529.99 CAN, SIM unlocked.
I'm actually going to be in Vancouver next week. Would you mind passing along the name of the retailer? Thanks

They have 6 stores, but I think only the Kingsway has them in stock. Call before you go in to check if they have any (they said they only had 3 left when I got mine).
Thanks for the link. I just wanted to make sure that you did get this one, because the specs listed on the website are wrong for the T-Mobile version. Wrong processor, and screen size. Is yours taged with the T-Mobile Logo on the front? Thanks
Haha, yea. Everyone I link it to is like, "Are you sure that's the right one?". The person who did the website obviously copied down the incorrect spec sheet. But no fears, it is the SGH-989! Has T-Mobile branding and everything.
Perfect!! Thanks for the info!! Will probably order in the AM!
Thanks for the link, much appreciated!!!
The phone is running smoothly?

Pretty decently, although I had to use Titanium Backup to freeze all the Bloat. Still trying to get this thing working how I want it to. Mobile Hotspot is still giving me troubles, but I'll figure it out eventually.
4 more days to go!!!!
looking forward to Friday, to finally get this beast!
crossing my fingers the Root and CWR works the same on the phone.

I am thinking about getting the touch pro 2, and instead of waiting until AT&T finally releases it, I am thinking about biting the bullet and buying the unbranded unlocked version. My question is will the 3G still work. I have heard that 3G does not work on non-AT&T phones, or is that only if you buy an unlocked TMobile phone? Thanks for any help you can provide.
Search the forum, this has been answered 7,000 times.
Sorry, I did search and came up with thousands of answers and none of them seemed to answer my question specifically.
Ok, here the answer again by 7001 time
Europe original unbranded version will work only in Europe and Asia 3G and not in America networks
Just ordered the Tmo version today but I really like the unlocked version. Do you guys think there is a possibilty that the Euro version has support for AWS and is just not activated! I'm pretty sure this has been asked, but a search brought me no specific results. Why can't Tmobile just leave well enough alone!
7002
no, it won't work with AWS. only the Tmobile version does. EU doesn't work with any North American 3G, etc, etc, etc....
You could purchase the unlocked Australian version; 3G should work here, but that will cost $$$$.

Lol!
That is very expensive!
better to try in clove uk in about 750usd
I don't see any support for 1700 mhz band in that AU version though.

Thanks
Thanks for the information. Saved me from buying an unlocked version that won't work on AT&T's 3G. Will just have to wait for AT&T, just hope it isn't that long of a wait.
Would I be able to buy it from AT&T (when available) on a separate, new account, unlock it, pay the termination fee, and use it on my regular AT&T account with little problem? It's cheaper to terminate than buy off contract, most of the time, as long as they don't give me any trouble. Should it work?
hi there, i want to know if there's gonna be an unbranded / unlocked version of the TP2, WITH 850/1800/1900 3G band support?

If anyone had experience buying with that store would be great to hear the input!!
Thanks in advance,
I have an unbranded TP2. I didn't want to wait any longer for AT&T to release theirs and I don't like the way they are going with their keyboard layout. I know 3G is important for most folks, but my essential needs is data connection for email and EDGE is doing a pretty damn good job. Maybe if I am waiting in line or something related to that, I may wish I had a faster connection to watch youtube, but for the most part, I have no regrets.

Yes that should work. But, how much is the termination fee? If you are paying $200 less to sign a 2-year contract then I'm sure the termination fee will be at least $200. Otherwise, I can't imagine at&t would make it that easy. Plus I'm sure you will have to pay for the first month of service, you won't get that back.
Hi,
I'm currently in the US and would love to buy an MT3G for the wife, it's a really nice phone.
However will it work fully in the UK without issues?
Hope this helps...
In short, I think so. Most T-Mobile phones, especially smartphones, are quad band. You're probably going to need a different UK SIM card, though.
Here's a link to the MT3GS spec sheet: http://bit.ly/c3Hm3v. I don't know what frequencies are used in the UK, but I'm sure it will work in some capacity.
A friend of mine is in Israel right now with a mt3gS and all he had to do was buy a sim card for that location.
you also need to get it unlocked.. Some sites offer the service for as low as 10$ U.S. or if you pay the full price at tmobile you can ask them for the code and they should allow you to unlock it
Thanks for all your replies, might see about picking one up!
I'm in Orange county at the moment! god damn it's hot here.

Hi guys,
Sorry if this has already been posted but I've been researching but couldn't find anything. I couldn't find any release dates for Canada except for the UK on November, 17, 2011, but now I'm hearing it's being delayed until the 2nd of December. Anyone got any idea of when this phone will come out in Canada? Or even if it's coming to Canada? Thanks for the help.
It's coming to Canada, but no one knows the release date. Here's a Mobilesyrup (Phone blog run by Canadians) hands on of the phone: http://mobilesyrup.com/2011/11/09/samsung-galaxy-nexus-hands-on-video/

They showed it on CTV two days ago, which is owned by Bell.
Also, a Phandroid member said their store was visited by a Bell corporate Rep recently, and the Rep said it was coming to Bell around Christmas.
Keep in mind this is some random person on reddit...
http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/maz4c/galaxy_nexus_coming_to_canada_on_rogers_for_launch/
Sometime in November sounds better than Bell at Christmas, if there's any truth to it...
A friend of mine was recently in a Rogers store looking for a new phone. She ended up getting an EVO 3D that they had on for $0.01, but she said the guy in the store was telling her all about the Nexus. I might stop by a Rogers store tomorrow and see what they say.
Would it even matter what provider got it first, I thought these things are unlocked anyways?

It should be unlocked, and that's exactly why one carrier getting it "sometime in November" is better for everyone than another carrier not having it until Christmas.
Of course, the carrier that gets it first might still matter to some people if they want to buy on contract...

Canadian sign up page.
Bell and Virgin Mobile now both have official Galaxy Nexus pages, with their own sign-up forms. No date other than "early December" so far, but this is the first official carrier confirmation I've seen in Canada, so it's still good news.

Would a Bell.ca phone be compatible on T-Mobile US? They don't use LTE, so I assume it is the GSM version. Would probably be a lot cheaper then importing from europe...
Most Canadian carriers, including Bell, are compatible with AT&T for 3G or 4G HSPA+ and not T-Mobile.
However... the Galaxy Nexus is a peta-band phone so it would work on any of them, including T-Mobile so importing would work.
EDIT: Bell and Rogers do both have LTE in a number of locations in Canada, but it's not very likely they'll be using the LTE version.

Not until January though. I'm considering switching to Bell when they have it in early December, after 11 years with Rogers. Rogers also has hardly any HSPA+ coverage in Nova Scotia, while Bell has it over the whole province, so Bell getting the Galaxy Nexus first might just make me switch...

According to the Verge, the LTE 32GB model is for Verizon only. The rest of the world gets the 16GB unlocked pentaband HSPA+ model.

It could only be the HSPA+ version, as the CDMA/LTE version works ONLY on Verizon's network. I would guess Future Shop would be selling them for Bell or Virgin (can anyone confirm?). It should be unlocked (Nexus S was), but we won't know for sure until someone gets one and reports.
Hey guys,
I was looking around for an unlocked version of the Galaxy Nexus in Canada, and stumbled on some information that the Bell/Virgin versions were actually sim-unlocked (being Nexus devices, and all). However, when I called The Source (closest store to me), they said that it is, in fact, locked.
Can anyone confirm that an off-contract Bell/Virgin Galaxy Nexus is sim-locked?
Thanks.
Don't listen to any of the workers. They tell you that to scare you into signing 3 year contract or they just don't know. Most of the workers have no clue about phones except what they are trained on.
Ex: last week in best buy mobile one girl told me they had the Galaxy Nexus for Rogers and they were selling them already.... I walked out once I heard that lol

Thats what I figured, and I know that Nexus devices are (almost?) always unlocked, but $650 is a lot to drop on a phone if I don't know for sure that I won't be able to use it, you know?

If you want to have some more peace of mind about the unlocking situation, i picked up a Galaxy Nexus from Virgin on the 7th. I threw my Rogers SIM in it without issue. So rest assured that are unlocked and work perfectly on Rogers.

I also picked my Nexus up but at the bell store. I actually was on rogers at the time, was going to bring it back to rogers. But, Rogers upload speeds on their network (Not LTE) is nothing more then 1Mb. Were as bell i've seen and i get 4-5Mb which is very nice for VOIP calling and video.
They also offered me a cheaper package deal then i was paying on rogers with the same features. And so i switched HAHAHA Never thought i would.
But this phone is unlocked as i did place an AT&T sim inside the phone and it also worked fine.(I have a AT&T account as well).
If I were to buy galaxy nexus, would it better to get it from play store or negri for t-zone usage?

NTT Docomo's version is carrier locked to NTT Docomo. You can fix this by unlocking it.
T-Mobile doesn't need your IMEI. But I don't know what T-Zone is.... I just popped in my SIM card and the phone works with my T-Mobile plan.
The non-Docomo version on Negri is cheaper,

http://www.expansys-usa.com/google-nexus-prime-android-smartphone-unlocked-16gb-224148/ $409 (even cheaper)
play store: $399 but you have to pay taxes is what im told.

I bought mine brand new on ebay. The seller happened to be in US but they are usually sold by Canadian ebayers. Not many people know about it. Unlocked ver is lil more expensive. When u go on ebay, Try 's ii x' in search field then choose cell phones under categories tab on the left side.
Some times, it is found on t989 Unlocked version section. Or u could try ebay.ca(canadian ebay) and then search the phone and then narrow it down to if the seller is shipping to US or not.
I recommend g nexus because price has dropped alot and u can also get us warranty now. I also really like aosp.
Of coaese I am happy with gsiix as u literally experience no lag due to high processor speed and RAM.
As for s ii x it is exactly same as tmobiles g s 2 wihout tmobile logo and they wont make u get android plans. Wifi calling works on s ii x but u will need new tmobile
Sim card version TM9177 just as all other tmobile gs2 users. I tried the sim card to use wifi calling and it worked great. I hope this helps.
Edit: I would wait a little as g s 3 is about to be released. Price for GN and SIIX will likely drop.
HTC sensation xe z715e could be a better choice if u can get one new under 400 and I dont think it uses dual channel hspa+ like the previous two. I could be wrong so u might want to confirm that.
Sent from my Galaxy S 2 X
One more thing that I would like to mention is that HSPA+ can be picky for both gnex and gsiix for ur tzone. depending on ur location. This is different from hsdpa of nexus one, nexus s or hd2 etc. If you are concerned with rather have consistent and good 3g plus connection and if u r on the move alot then I recommend nexus s. If you have to have WiFi calling and good 3g plus connection then I recommend a HD2 but it has to be second revision. Otherwise your digitizer will fail sooner or later.
I ve tried it in mostly eastern part of major US cities. Charlotte, Atlanta, NYC and Boston. I came to this conclusion based on my personal testing and experience so I have no data to back up my cliams. I am just sharing it cuz it might be useful to others.
