Vlingo has new commands? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I just checked Vlingo's website and it seem that vlingo has new commands or do we already have it in our SGII already. if not, how do we update our vlingo.

Try the commands and see. Do they work?

How DO you actually voice dial???

Hey guys, I've installed the voice search 2.1 apk and it's working fine, but today I decided to see if I could voice dial, and for the life of me I can't figure out how to get it working. Everything I say simply ends up a google search. If I long press the Search button while on the Home screen to bring up Voice Search, then say, for example, "Call Dad Mobile", all it does is do a Google Web Search for those exact words...I can't get it to actually dial!!
What am I doing wrong??? I also tried, "Open Calendar", and surprise surprise, it did a web search for those words. Nothing is working!!!
When you hold down the magnifying glass and say call someone, and it provides you with a google search, rather than actually calling someone.....
The problem is you have the wrong voice keyboard installed.
You were probably and early adopter of the device and installed the first one you found in a thread on here.
I had the same problem, and deleted the keyboard, installed a later one, and now it works.
Fon22
And where is the later one?
Do you mean Voice Search app or Voice Keyboard? I'm using Jonas' v27 HTC IME mod as my keyboard (created from the online skin generator).
If you mean Voice Search, I'm using Voice Search 2.1 apk, that I got from another website. Should I replace this with the one on the market place?
I'm running Jonas' v27 too, and I think the 2.1 voice APK (didn't install it separately, came with the MCR FroYo ROM). Works a charm for me (though only for some names, such as Adam Green, as most of my contacts have Eastern European names ).
Just tried replacing Voice Search with the one on the market place, and it's still doing exactly the same! I can use it for entering text, but NO voice commands work, it always defaults to doing a web search! What am I doing wrong? I'm running stock rooted 1.21 firmware, no modifications (apart for Jonas' keyboard).
Hmm....I think I may have just figured something out...can someone on here run a test for me? I need someone to check in People and see if their contacts are set to "Google" or "Phone". I have all but one of mine set to "Phone", but it seems that the one I have designated by accident as a Google contact is the only one that voice dialing works with...is this because, for example, Google actually searches your online contacts only, rather than the contacts saved exclusively on your phone?
Also, it still doesn't recognise the "Open" command...can someone also test that out for me?

I wish I could help you.. seems all my contacts are Google contacts. I even made a new one, and he's still a Google contact :/
And I never heard of Open X commands working. Open Mail, Calendar, Messaging all point me to a google search, so it understood what I said.

Visual Voice Mail not working correct

Alright, I'm not exactly sure how to search for this or not but I've been flashing a few roms and now my visual voice mail doesn't work correctly. I've been getting txts from visual voice mail for voice mail but when I installed visual voice mail (verizon version) it opens and says my phone has built in features to do this and wants to close the app. I did have youmail installed on it before as that worked just fine and I'd used it with my BB. I uninstalled and reinstalled both but still no luck. Any idea?

Ok, tried to change that file. Can't make modifications because it looks like the file is being accessed. Thanks.
You need to ADB push it
Ok i tired to adb push it but the file seems to be in use and I can't change it. Is there a specific state that system has to be in. I noticed for other commands it does need to be but I didn't see anything stating what to do to for a push.
Thanks.
Never mind, sat down and tried again for a bit and figured it out. I'm a dumb ass don't worry.

Google Voice on Archos 101!!

I have successfully been able to set up google voice on my 101 to send and receive sms messages. Install google voice from the market, go through the set up as if you were installing on your phone (you must have a google voice number). Once set up just start texting, it will work on both devices at the same time. You will also be able to get any voice mail you have set up with it. I also have been albe to set up Tango video chat using my google voice number. I now have almost everything thats on my EVO working on my 101. Still working on a possible way to make calls, will post if I can get it working. Hope this helps someone else like it did for me.
Sent from my Bad Seed Custom EVO! Just SICK!
What sms app are you using? I get a force close when I try to use "this phone" during setup.

I'm using google voice with my google number. Just set it up like you would on your phone. Do you have the gapps installer? You need to install that first, then download google voice from the market.

I get a force close when I try to use "this phone" during setup. Did you do anything different when you were going through the Google Voice setup?
No nothing special, it only took me a couple minutes. It asked me witch phone I was using and I told it my evo, then skip the carrier setup and it works. Dont know why it would be force closing, didn't have any issues with google voice or Tango video chat. Do you have google voice set up on another device? Mine is set up on my evo, so when it asks what I wanna use I tell it my evo.

OH, no. The google voice is just supported at USA.
How can I change my location or network location to USA?
Anybody get anywhere on this?
I am trying to do the same thing... I wanted to see if anybody has made any real progress with this.
I keep reading that the SIPdroid and PBX account will work, but I can not configure it properly. I am having a hard time here.
I have Fring installed as well.
I have had a Google voice account for a year now and I have it working on the Archos 101 tablet already. The text and voicemail works great.
Thought that I would revive this thread a little since it is something that I am very interested in.
I had it set up at one point, using Sipdroid. but then my archos got fried and now I am stuck at the "setting up voicemail" part... sucks. when i get it figured out I will let you know how exactly to get it running.

You can use the edited apk from the Xoom forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11955195&postcount=75
Edit: ****
You do not need to be rooted to use this. Download the apk and then run it. When prompted for which phone you are using, select your regular phone, as was previously mentioned by jeffsanace.

Google Now Calender

Anyone figured out the syntax to add appointments to your g-calender? Tried all the usual suspects but it comes back with either an alarm or a note to self. Flipping through the Nexus 7 handbook doesn't give any answers, starting to suspect this functionality may not be in place yet. Anyone have any luck?
i've been trying to find an answer too.. but i guess it's not part of the system yet. May be in following updates
Don't see it listed in the voice commands section of the guidebook so I don't think its set up yet. Luckily, this is something they can implement on their end, without a software update.

[Q] Google Now voice not working

First, my setup:
AT&T SGS3 (duh)
Followed the instructions in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1874982) and put a Telus JB ROM on my phone.
CWM
Custom AT&T modem (required for the Telus ROM).
Custom APN (supposedly yields faster 4G/LTE).
Regular Google account, not GApps.
I've read other threads about people who can't get the voice response to work with Google Now, and I've tried all of the suggestions/fixes in those threads to no avail. All of my settings are set to English (US) and the Text-to-Speech engine is configured correctly.
In order to expedite/prove my settings/configuration, here are all of the relevant settings screens from my phone. If you see anything weird, or anything that might cause Google Now to not speak back, please let me know!

Nobody has any ideas? Am I just stuck not hearing that wonderful Google TTS voice come out of my phone?
Google Now, not accepting voice recognition.
I am having the same issue. I even did a factory reset. no luck. then I tried rooting it. still no luck. it just keeps saying "Recognizing" then times out. I know the voice recognition is working, because I can still use it when dictating a message or text. It just won't work with Google Now.

Possible Solution
I found that if you uninstall the lastest update to Google Search and it works, but you lose some of the new features (open apps, events, etc..)
Another solution is to use Maluuba, i have tried it and really like it. Alot more functions that Google now.
Hope this helps

We are not having the same issue. Your phone will not recognize your voice (Speech-to-text), and my phone will not read back information found on Google Now cards through the phone's speaker (Text-to-speech). Do not confuse the two.
Sorry about that. Got my threads mixed up. Did anyone suggest uninstalling that lastest update to Google Search (I don't know if they did or not)? That is what fixed my issues with it. Might be a bug in that update. See if the previous version will do the text to speech.
Just a thought
