About a year ago I ordered this very phone I have in my hands. It showed up like a month later, but still.
The smartphone market is moving exponentially, and our options are smashing through the roof and amazing us monthly.
With all this in mind, what do you think you'll end up doing with your Incredible when you decide to upgrade? Hand it down? Sell it? Keep it as a spare? Not upgrade at all until its 100% useless?
If times are hard, I am gonna sell it for whatever its worth to put toward a new phone. With superphones hitting the 300 dollar mark, I can't justify not selling it. If I have the cash though, ill just keep it as a developer phone. I also have an idea for a custom interface for my car.

exactly.. no reason to throw the dinc out just yet.. still a very strong phone.. I have 2.. one on metropcs and the other to toy with and on backup if my current dinc dies.. still have my Hero running cm7 etc also..
The thing is. unless your wanting a larger screen etc.. I see no real reason to upgrade..outside of wanting the latest and greatest.. <---- Is a dualcore 2.3 android monster gonna get your text/email/info any quicker? Hell no..lol thats where i stand..

Excellent idea, I like that! I'm not due for an upgrade for another year, so I'll keep it as a back up, never know I guess. I love my phone, so whatever I choose to get next has to be one hell of a phone!

how rude~! lol
well im locked in till march of 2012 so Ill probably wait to till the summer of 2012 to make a choice on an upgrade. I want a 4g phone bigger screen like the thunderbolt and a daul core or possible quad core by then. If I had an upgrade to use now I'd get the thunderbolt bc its everything I want except for the dual core. I have a big decision to make in the summer though bc my family and I might switch to another carrier. I love Verizon customer service but Im paying $350 a month for six lines and only 3 lines are smart phones. But if I stay then I'll keep the Dinc in case I dont like my new phone and have to trade it away. lol
I think I'll keep my DInc as a dev phone, or to mess around with whatever ROMs are still available. I am locked in until March 2012 myself, but I may upgrade sooner, depending on desire/finances.

Lol me to i bought an ipod touch 2nd gen for nothing time to get some cash by selling it.
I have this long rectangle shadow box that i put my old phones in. I have 5 in there now and space for 4 more. So the Dinc goes in space 6 when the time is right. Although I am happy with my super awesome, tricked out Dinc!
That's easy. I use Google Voice, so it's going to stay in the apt connected to wifi and that will then become my "home phone". Conveniently both phones will have the same phone number....

Same here, my dinc does everything I want w/o a hint of lag. Until I see something big my dinc can't do or all the devs move on, I'm more than happy with this phone.

I just got the incredible 2 and so far the battery life and speed are on point

Mine will either become a hand-me-down or sold off. But not untill something better comes along.
C'mon HTC, you can do better than the T-Bolt or DI2!

Nice... I might do that for my parents since they call long distance all the time
Wont be for a while, but it will become a toy for my kids and emergency backup fro me.
I'll be selling it soon and buy a T-Bolt.
I can't stand anyone but htc. Everyone else makes crap phones. Bootloader wise of course. My Dinc will be with me for a long time. Due to my contract being up in late 2012

Welp i had a Dinc for a a bit than bought the droid razr, dont plan on going back to my incredible anytime soon. I have been browsing the roms and other sub catagories for the Dinc, my question is, is there are rom that basically strips down the Dinc, so i can really just use it for a music player? kinda like a ipod of sorts... might be wishful thinking. a friend kinda brought the idea up so i figured i ask.
Thanks!

i would load CM7 on your old incredible because it is the lightest and no bloatware. then there is a script in the dev forum that will turn off cell radio but keep wifi working so your phone battery will last forever on a single charge.
i did this for a bad ESN phone for a friend and he loves it.

So I'm moving to a new provider since Sprint doesn't have service in my area, and the Play has always interested me.
So my question would be, do the people here actually enjoy your devices, or are you just waiting until you are off contract or something similar so you can get away from the device?
90 views and not a single person thinks that it's worth picking one up to toy around with?
That's.... pretty sad for this little device. I appreciate the honest, if quiet, feedback. Cheers all!
Its pretty good I've been enjoying it had it since it was released haven't had any problems with it, it does have pretty weak internal storage tho but there are ways around that. It all just depends on how much gaming you want to do. And I think that sony has pretty much left this device in the dust so as long as your not one of those "I need ICS complainers" it'll be great!

I bought this on PAYG only a month back, and I'm still loving it!
I can't use another android now without it having a gamepad (as i do love gaming on it) mainly for emus.
I for one support this phone!
that's pretty much the perfect device. insane battery life, epic gaming, smooth performance, gorgeous design. i could talk about it for hours
Seeing at least a LITTLE passion is always a good thing. I may have to go through the deal I have in the woks. It was a toss-up between this and anything else I could find for under 150$. These seem to be one of the better GSM devices for that price.

hop on wireless.Amazon.com to find a good deal on (US) cellphones. If you buy the AT&T version, afaik there isn't a free bootloader unlock.
For the phone itself, I do still love my play

I'm not terribly concerned with buying something brand new, since most of the use is going to be playing with it while ongoing through cancer treatment. I'd almost prefer something used.

Hands down best gaming phone (especially with emulators) is the Xperia Play. If you leave it on a stock firmware, the Xperia Play optimized games (especially Dead Space & GTA 3) are phenomenal.
Best wishes with you treatment, our thoughts and prayers go out to you!

Maybe you should try the Nintendo DS or something like that for gaming, and another cheap phone for the connected aspect.

Was a good evo. but ive "upgraded" love to stay on the evo i know it well. Ive Gone to a HTC one.
I refuse to ignore my evo though so just curious if anyone needs a test bedder or know of a good use for an evo without service.
You can use it for a media player. It it way better than an iPod plus it can call 911 in a pinch. I set one of mine up for my daughter. She watches netfilx, plays movies, games, facebook, etc.
Or you could use it as a backup. It is legal to clone your own device as long as you don't sell it. I have 3 phones (personal) using the same esn.

Media player would be the number one thing I would use an old device for. Although... I'm currently looking for a phone to replace my LG Optimus V on virgin mobile, and I've head you can flash this phone to virgin mobile.... hint. hint.

yea im using it for music n stuff now but the htc ones audio proccessing will blow the evo out of the water and shoot it into space and put it in orbit around jupiter lol. (not beats audio thats just software) im saying its a newer device its general an improvement.
and yea i dont doubt anything with the evo XD alot of developers have contributed alto of respectable work on the evo. heck its a miracle 4.2.2 is runnin on it the way it is XD
aaah ima miss coming to the evo 4g development threads :'D
now only if someone had a android 3.0 ROM for the evo i could just make it a lil 4.3" tablet :3...not a very powerful tablet but still...
I hope you have google music or a limited number of songs you want to put on your phone.... the htc one is a great phone, the lack of a sd card would make me never buy it, though.

Ubersonic is made for inactive devices. It's main one is for ICS, although if you want JB he does have some experimental builds in this post.

yea i had it on my evo for a while dint like it that much it was great but it felt too much like a refined just for music type deal. however id love to put android 3.0 on my evo :3 i might just put a 4.2.2 rom on it and drop the DPI to 120 and use it like a tablet XD
I am looking for something for my OG Evo as well. I have Ubersonic on it now, but it just does not play well with my bluetooth speaker, so I want to try something else.
Ideally, I'd like to slap a JB ROM on her so I can use profiles to share it with my daughter... but I'd also like HDMI out to work - which I am not so sure is possible on JB.
Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?
I think cyanmobile has profiles. It is a highly modified gingerbread rom that has many ics/jb features added in. Everything works correctly except for mms. Which I am still working on a fix. Most users have been able to make mms work by using go sms.

Hey guys,
I saw this smartwatch on Indiegogo the other day and I think it's pretty sweet.

Looking at the specs sheet alone its definitely something.
What do you guys think? Get it or wait till more is out?

Well if that's the case, I doubt it'll be anytime soon. Seeing as there hasn't really been any leaks for a Google smartwatch so far.
Kreyos it is....for now.
I love the voice search thing. Hopefully it has full support for Google Now. A watch is useless without voice recognition.
However, I like to be able to stream music remotely to it and plug in my 3.5mm headphones. I know that's asking a bit much, but I think it's somewhat reasonable. Does anybody else think that should be a thing?
I'll wait for a Nexus watch. Google will have the most optimized watch for Android. Hopefully.
I backed this up the first day it was on indiepop. We'll see come november how it works with android phones. Even if an nexus watch does come out, I highly doubt it'll have a speaker, voice control AND be waterproof.
Ive been looking for a good smart watch for a while, have been waiting to see what comes about.
The nexus one i cant see coming out for a good 6 months + yet,
The new sony watch looks gorgeous but function is a bit boring, the greykos function looks good but i think
it looks ugly!
I thought so too at first, but I guess the design grew on me.

Haha. Smartwatch was implied, my good man. There is no way a watch can achieve its full potential if you can't enter text into it.
I've been using Casio watches for like the past 10 years. Great stuff, but I'm ready to make the switch to Smartwatches.
Just went ahead and the pledged for it.. Hopefully it's worth the 129$

Been a fair while since the last post here, but just to let anyone seeing this know Kreyos STILL haven't sent out these damn watches.
The first 5000 have been sent via ship to the US but now have apparently been stopped by the US longshoreman contract negotiations, this being the fourth delay in shipping.
I've backed out and bought a Gear Live watch instead.
Android Wear shows far more promise than Kreyos' watches and I suggest anyone that wants their watch before Smartwatches are a thing of the past should just ask for a refund and get something that can actually ship before hell freezes over.
