just rooted tried to load theme (orange peel) after i did will not stop reboot ing what do i do to get it to load right
Was it compatible with your rom? Did you wipe cache and dalvik cache?
Reflash your rom to get out of the bootloop. Or restore from your nandroid backup, since everything everywhere tells you to do a backup before flashing, I know you did one.

Hey Everyone,
I had Starburst with Data2SD flashed on my Desire with some things cooked in from the UOT. I found the MIUI ROM and I figured I wanted to try it. I made a Recovery backup so that if I didn't like it, I could get right back to where I left off. I flashed the CDMA MIUI ROM which was a mistake because my Desire is GSM (Doh) But I went in to recovery and selected the backup I made before I flashed MIUI and restored it, it restored successfully but when I reboot it just sits at the white screen that says htc and it doesn't go anywhere after that. I can reflash the Starburst ROM and reinstall the Data2SD and it will boot and everything and then I go back in to recovery and restore just the data from the back up and it doesn't boot after that. Can anyone help me figure out where I'm going wrong? I don't really want to start from scratch. Any help is appreciated. If you think you can help but don't understand what I'm asking, either post here or PM me. Thanks. I would really like my Desire to work so I can stop using my dreaded Iphone.
Did you do a full wipe before you restored your backup? Make sure you do a factory reset/data wipe, cache wipe and dalvik wipe (from advanced menu)
If it still does not work, try wipe just the cache and dalvik cache after restoring the backup and see if it will boot then.
First, I would like to say im a newb with android and I'm stupid for doing this. Okay I have a tmobile g2 stock froyo rooted and I tried to install a different kernal called pershoots. Now when the phone rebooted, it goes into a bootloop.
Luckily I made a full backup 14 days ago in clockwork recovery. So I went into recovery mode, and did a advanced restore to restore system. That didnt fix it, so I restored boot. That seemed to do the trick and everything is working fine I hope . do I need to restore anything else that might have been associated with kernal? I don't know what I did wrong for this to happen, can anyone explain?
Pershoot works under Cyanogenmod only...
No cache? I've had problems when not wipe cache. dalvik cache wipe doesn't hurt with new kernel but make sure download was ok a lot of people have had problems with mirrors, websites, data etc etc. And if the rom is pre installed prior to installation id run fix permissions from recovery.
that is if ur using cwm recovery.

About a month ago I decided I wanted to try out Synergy ROM for my EVO, so I went for God Mode and everything has been running fine...until now. I had installed a kernel earlier this week for underclocking and such, but decided today that I didn't really use it as much as I though so I decided to reflash the HTC stock 4.24. I just did that about 10 minutes ago, I made a backup in case something went wrong and I backed up all my apps/texts as well. It flashed, rebooted...then it got stuck in a boot loop. So I pulled the battery and booted up into the bootloader to go into recovery...when I found every time I hit recovery it would just restart to the bootloader. So I'm not really sure if there is anyway to restore my backup or any other way to boot into recovery. Am I just screwed? Or can I use ADB to boot into recovery/restore my backup? This is sort of my first question post so...If you need any more information just ask.
Thanks,
Suprgamr232
If your phone is still going into bootloops. Connect your phone to your computer and go to adb and type in adb reboot recovery. There you can revert back into a nandroid backup. Hope this helps
Not to be rude, but you didn't read the entire post did you? I can't access my recovery and AFAIK adb doesn't work while it's in a bootloop. Also, I don't think adb recognizes my device when it's in the bootloader either.
Hey im just trying to help, Maybe some how you lost your recovery? Maybe try reflashing your recovery from the bootloader, make sure it named pc36img.zip. See if you can access your recovery after that. What recovery are you using btw, clockworkmod or amon ra? and did you wipe your cache and dalvik cache files through recovery before you flashed your kernel?
If you can access your recovery after reflashing it, Try wiping those in recovery and rebooting, see if it boots into your rom. If not and you still get a boot loop but you can access recovery do a full wipe and reflash your rom or try restoring a nandroid
Not gonna argue with you, so I'll let it slide...I'm using clockworkmod and I did wipe my cache and dalvik cache. ATM I haven't been able to get a hold of a new recovery img for some reason...can never get it to download 100%, will try it soon hopefully.
There's no need to argue Ive heard that clockworkmod doesnt always completely wipe the cache and dalvik maybe try using amon ra this time around http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705026
Cant hurt to try it. hope you can get it working for ya, gl
Still stuck in the bootloop. I tried restoring but that didn't help. I tried reinstalling the ROM and the kernel I used before and no change, I don't really want to wipe my phone and try it but...I guess it might turn out that way. Before I do though I was wondering if there is anything else I should try?

You're gona have to do a full wipe [ factory/data, cache, and dalvik ] , reflash your rom, kernel, ect. Once you sign in, boot, ect, you can use titanium backup to restore your apps and data, NOT system settings.
Alrighty then. Did that and everything seems to be working fine...A little disappointed but as long as I have my phone! Thanks for your help!

Flash the same ROM you were using. It should restore things. If that does not work, then just do a full wipe.
I already attempted to do a full wipe, and i was on the 2.3.3 stock ROM still. Maybe im missing how to do the full wipe, i am quite new to this, but dont you go into recovery mod and wipe everything through there because that sent me into boot loop again

Yes you wipe partitions in Recovery. Once you do that all you have to do is reflash the ROM.
This link will take you to the latest EVO Stock ROMs available:

I would pick the ODEX option.
PM me if I could be of more help.
Good Luck
If reflashing your ROM doesnt work then you most likely did something else that you didnt realize.
Well i wiped bloody everything haha. Trying ROM flash now, would it be ok if i tried to flash an entirely new ROM?
Yeah flash a brand new ROM and see if that fixes the problem. If it doesnt then you may have screwed something else up. Or there is some kind of hardware malfunction going on with your motherboard.
Once wiped, flash a ROM. You must wipe before flashing a ROM. Wipe system, cache, dalvik cache, data before flashing. I think one other but I forget

reflashing a new rom ,maybe can solve the problem^
Dont know if anyone else has experienced this but i have been using jellybean port for sprint the past few days and today i decided to revert back to cm9. Im using stock cwm recovery which means not touch recovery or twrp just plain stock cwm recovery. well i wiped data and wiped cache and flashed cm9 rom i had on my sd card and it boot3d fne but i got the jellybean setup wizzard and i couldnt get past it it force close as soon as i touch anything so i went back into recovery and tried again same thing. i have a nandroid backup so i restored that and of course that works because i dont have to go thru setup wizzard. i dont know if this is just my phone or what so im placing this thread here to find out if anyone else has experienced this or if this is happening to me only. if this is an issue with cwm then im sure the devs of cwm would want to know this because if cwm is not wiping correctly then we have a problem. anyways please if anyone can try this and post back results im sure the cwm recovery devs would appreaciate it very much. thanks!
The cm9 installer may not have wiped the system partition. It's usually a good idea to do that before flashing to something new just in case.

One thing you could try is "fix permissions" in CWM.
