there is not really a thread on it. each area is works different with each radio. i use the 07.07 GB and for me it has better reception and GPS lock. but it might be different for each person. best thing to do is load a radio and try it for a couple of days. if you notice its not as good as previous then just go back.
to flash a radio you do it in Hboot. make sure the zip is on the root directory of the SD card then boot into Hboot. if the file is named correctly ''PB31IMG.zip" then Hboot will see it and will ask you to update.
here is a site with all the radios that will work on our phones.(EVO radio will work)

no worries. i guess someone posted an EVO 08.08 gb from a leaked build. i just flashed it and want to see how it goes. its not on this forum but i found it on rootzwiki
http://rootzwiki.com/showthread.php...ible-Radios-PB31IMG.zip-(Updated-07-Sept-2011)
seeings how the EVO hardware and radio is identical to our phones they are interchangeable. if 07.07 works well you might want to try 08.08.

So, do you need to partition your SDcard before you flash a radio? I thought I read that somewhere...

That have nothing to do with flashing radios.
To flash a radio
1. Name the .zip file Exactly to
PB31IMG
2. Put the file in root of sdcard
3. Flash trough hboot

So I've been dealing with this for a few days or so and started posting about it in Cyanogen's Rom thread, but I figured its finally time to make a thread about this.
First and foremost, I'm rooted, got SU, S-off, and I can get to #. Radio - EVO_Radio_2.15.00.11.19, PRI - EVO_PRI_1.90_003, NV - EVO_NV_1.90_003, H-Boot 2.10, and I'm using AR Recovery v2.1.1 (I've tried 1.8.0, 1.7.x, etc.). I just formatted my SD card Fat32 the non quick way, and tried flashing Cyanogen, and Evervolv, and my HTC Evo 4G screen just loops. Comes on for a minute, turns off, and repeats. I've also tried rerooting, which was mentioned elsewhere, as well as trying to flash MUIU, which flashes fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Did you flash GAPPS along with the rom?
Yes with 11/14 HDPI and I've tried it without it. Also im doing full wipes + Format All everytime.

what hw revision do you have? 003? 004? also, did you accept an ota? or got the evo with 2.10?
003 and I updated to 3.70. I'm not sure if I had 2.10 prior to updating, but I kinda think I may have had 2.02 before. I bought my Evo last Wed.

excellent..
try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=883548
it will give you the engineering hboot, which has fastboot commands available and will probably be more useful than 2.10.
I thought it wasn't okay for people with 2.10 to flash back.
Edit: erred ok I'll try it.
Edit2: Op even says don't use with 003/004
If you're doing this on late hardware models 003/004 (with new partitions) then you should stop reading now and probably not do it. I'm not sure if the new recovery can fix up your stuff after you do this

If it helps any, when I run cat /proc/mtd my partitions are 40000. This tells me I'm on the newer partition and should stay away from the method mentioned above.

K one last thing. I'm going to unroot following the thread linked below, but what about RA 2.1.1 being my current recovery? Will an RUU flash it back to stock recovery? I'm also going to unroot and try the rooting method in following the thread and if its still a no go when flashing aosp roms, I'll unroot and exchange. Btw thanks for all the help!

yes, an ruu straightens you back out to unroot. what i suggest you do is flash a stock rom before doing so.
no problem, i'm still trying to figure out why your phone is being so selective, but bad nands is always creeping up as a possible cause.

Yeah I just ran unrevoked forever s-on linked in zikronix's thread and I'm flashing back to stock with his PC36img Hboot method. Like I said, I might as well try unrooting with the method in that thread and try flashing Cyanogen again. If its a no go, I'll just repeat the s-on, flash back to stock, and exchange it. Prolly gonna tell them 4G didn't work when I was in Chicago or something lol.

The leaked radio (2.15.00.04.08) works on my particular device and I've used it on both Sense roms (Froyo builds) as well as on Gingerbread AOSP roms. I'm still using it and I currently am running the Salvage-Mod 1.2.1 rom. Everything works on my device. Is there a noticeable improvement over the previous radios? Not that I can tell, but I've not noticed an decline in performance either. It works and I'm satisfied with it.
Do you just flash the radio and go? I thought I might have read somewhere about having to reroot or something?

download the radio, rename it as PC36IMG, place it on your SD card, turn off your phone, go into bootloader (hold power + volume down), wait for it to find the file, click yes to update, and then it'll reboot. That's it.
Done. Phone still works. Upped my NV to 1.90 and then flashed the radio. May not notice anything but at least its current.

Download the radio from xHAUSx's thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038701 or click on the radio number in my signature.
I flashed it yesterday and using a froyo ROM, I haven't noticed any difference in phone performance and signal strength.
Me neither. Kinda worthless. Wish I knew what the difference was before I suggest not flashing/pointless
Im currently running AVA-Froyo Z3, thinking about flashing a Synergy Nightly but in the meantime im sticking with this one. Lately I have noticed slow browser speeds and bad reception in general and though I might try flashing the new radios that release on the 3rd with the gingerbread update. I flash roms all the time but I have never flashed a radio update. Do i do this the same way as a rom? Boot into recovery (btw im using RA-Recovery V2.3) and wipe dalvik Cache and then flash zip from sd? Is there a risk doing this? Im know radio update questions have been posted before but I dont know if the radio update is risky on a rom specific level. ANy help would be appreciated
yeah just like that just make sure your battery is charged and also dont get desperate and let it do its think before you start pressing things or try a battery pull, first boot will take longer
It depends where you got the files. Some have to be flashed via hboot/bootloader.
But if you got then from the calvn thread (misspelled im sure) then you flash them like you do a rom, but you dont have to wipe anyting. I didnt and things are fine.

Very important to make sure you have enough battery charge and do not pull your battery while doing this process. Don't let it fall out your hand while doing it either, lol. Sure way to get a bricked evo while flashing radio updates and the battery pops out or dies.
yeah, and just in case you missed it, DO NOT PULL YOUR BATTERY!!!
I need to flash mine, too....
This flashing radios **** always makes me nervous.
Pulling battery while updating radios WILL brick your phone...so like a few others have said DON'T PULL YOUR BATTERY

I was hoping someone could answer my question. Can you update prl from about phone while using a custom ROM (I'm currently running mikg 2.4)? The other question, more of a request, is could someone explain exatcly how to flash the radio, prl, etc zips by caulkin? Do you do this through the hboot screen like flashing amon-ra? I have been hesitant to update the radios cause I'm not really sure the proper steps and I read/was advised that if done incorrectly you could permabrick the device. If someone could post a step by step process (i have read and haven't been able to find instructions) that would be really awesome. Thanks in advance for the help/advice.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
You can only update the prl while one a sense rom, so mik g should be fine. Just go to updates in settings, then prl update.
Radio Flash:
-Download the radio/package you want
-place on root of sd card
b-boot into recovery
-wipe the cache and dalvik cache
-reboot
Yes, you can update PRL from a custom ROM. You can also update profile
For the radios, if your using the radios from Calkulin's thread, simply download, put on SD, wipe cache/dalvik cache, flash Radio(s), then click reboot
Your phone won't automatically reboot, you'll be redirected to a different screen in recovery. Once updates are complete, you can reboot your phone

I don't know why but I am nervous about updating my radio and wimax. I guess because there is no real answer on if it is better than the one my Evo came with. Have heard some complaints that new radio and wimax is not as good as before, but everyones phone is different.
We can revert back correct? And as long as we have backup up wimax on Ra we should be good with our wimax keys? Say I flashed new wimax radio and it borked my wimax, how would I fix it?
Thanks and sorry for the thread jack but I think it pertains.

No, that's a great question, I was also wondering this and have heard the same things. I wish there was a thread that was an actual guide for this. I'd gladly put one together, with permission to use info of course, unless one of you awesome developers who is more knowledgable then I would like to. I know doing this update is simple for most, but for people with limited knowledge a simple step by step guide would be most helpful and appreciated I think.

Anyway to flash another radio without rooting?
Right so I got the new radios and the battery is terrible compared to the previous radios. So can I just flash the old ones and everything will be good? I'm just asking because I know in calks thread it says some radios are not able to be downgraded and I don't want to have a second bricked evo...
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
I'm pretty sure you can change to whatever radio you want. In that thread, the only things that say not downgradable are hboots. I would flash any radio the bootloader way and never ever do a battery pull during a radio flash.

I just went through the same thing. I upgraded to the radio and kernel from the latest OTA and I was seeing much less battery life. It could be just my imagination but I downgraded both to be sure. You could just downgrade the radio but you may want to reflash your kernel even if you are not downgrading the kernel. He has a note there that a radio flash sometimes required a kernel reflash. Then wipe cache and Dalvik as always before rebooting.
