[Q] DZ Hboot on G2 (keep freezing my cell) ?? - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi , i have recently installed DZ HBoot on my G2, as it required for sense 3/3.5 roms, i am able to flash these rooms, but couldn't run .. my cell keeps freezing in all of sense 3 or sense 3.5 roms after 1-2 min of booting..
i am running CM 7.1 now, but i am fan of sense roms,
please help me out..

Sounds like there could be numerous reasons here. But it's strange that you only have this problem with sense 3 roms.
Do you go into a bootloop at the splash screen or when the roms boot animation shows?`
Did you tripple check, that you definitely flashed the correct hboot? Try checking your internal storage, if it is larger than 1 GB (about 1.2 GB), then something went wrong and you're still on the g2 hboot.

I have followed the guide at virtoues forum for installing DZ Hboot, moreover I have installed it without adb method.
How could I know its required hboot or not.??
Total availble Internal space is 1.05gb
And available is 0.85gb.
I don't go into bootloop, I could flash rom's fine, after completion of initial HTC sense setup, it starts freezing,

If you go into bootloader you will find hboot version there, the correct one is 0.84.2000
You should see something like this

????

Well it looks like there is nothing wrong,I see you are using an older radio but can't see how that would cause a problem, you say that it freezes with sense 3 /3.5 ROMs have you tried a sense 2.1 or AOSP ? That would rule out a possible hardware problem,If it only happens on a sense 3 ROM then it could be overclocking related check out
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1121937.
Some people have also had problems,in my experience the issues you describe are OC/UV related

yeah i was using ......[ROM][07/18/11] Virtuous Sense v2.0.0 :: Enhanced & Optimized Stock ROM (2.42.405.2),
this freezing issue is only with sense 3 or 3.5 roms, i have tried unity v9 kernel ,unity offrequecy patch .... nothing works for me??????

One other thing, Unity on my phone takes a good couple of minutes to settle down after booting, try leaving it for 5 minutes and then see what like it is.
Best of luck getting your problem sorted out.

Thanks Man , u are right, it wa OC isue, i have flashed sense 3.5 with unity v8, no freezing problem now....

You should be ok with V8

Are things any better with Unity?
I removed the link for V6 as will cause problems with unity 2.39 just remembered

Things were very smooth, till i signed in facebook , friend stream, just after it HTC sense crashed and too many force close errors.

I really do not know what is going on with your phone, could you try a superwipe and reinstall Unity?Or try to fix permissions?Never encountered serial Force Close issues like what you are having
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10752587/SuperWipeG2+ext4.zip
This is ment to completely wipe your phones internal partitions in preparation for flashing a new ROM,
reboot to recovery then flash this, then flash your rom, fingers crossed!!!!!!!!!!

I have re flashed unity, after full wipe, then unity v 8 , then unity oc frequency patch, and now now its running smoothly.... )
Thank you sooo much... )

[Q] HTC Sense 2.0 and Stock rom 2.10.405

You know what would be cool?
It would be cool if you could extract sense 2.0 somehow and then build a rooted desire stock rom with that version or just a normal rom with a desire base kernel.
So us Desire owners could get our own desire build with sense 2.0 instead of the original sense 1.0
I know about the desire hd roms but thats not what i mean. I tried that.
they are fast but battery hungry. Im waiting patiently for a better build of a desire hd rom. but for now im just using the stock 2.29 rom because that ruu works. Im not using it because of the battery usage. :/
Anyway. Does someknow know where i can get the official stock rom 2.10.405 to my htc desire?
i have a ruu one already but it fails all the time while trying to install. The error 140 i think is a bootloader error.
and my desire isnt branded. Its a Normal HTC phone without a carrier.
Get 2.29.405.2 (the latest) from my signature and flash that if you want to go back to stock
Not cool. It would take hundreds of patches to make new Sense run on old framework and lib base. So either you use SenseHD, either you use old base. No other way

Okay.
Well actually i want to get the latest sense 2.0 to my desire running without using much battery so fast.
its not quite useful as the phone will be a dead phone in the day because of battery consumption.
Thats why im asking. maybe flashing another kernel while running sense hd rom would solve the problem?. I wonder if it does. .
At the moment im running stock rom 2.29

Recommend a ROM

Hi,
Preferably, I'm looking for a HTC Desire HD ROM or something that has the new HTC Sense on it with APP2SD functionality, It must be Clean Stock (meaning no customization) and must be Stable to use with no or little lag. The Android version should be 2.2 or above and OTA update be operational (not required).
I have stumbled upon some ROMS, that match my specifications, however I want to know your experience with it. Common Bugs, how is it for everyday use? blah blah etc...
- RCMixHD v0.15 1
- DHD Rom Port by baadnwz v1.7c
- ۵.AuraxTSense v8.2 HTC Sense 2.2
- ۵.ReflexTSenseHD v1.5.1 DHD port
- RCS Touch v06
I want to be able to flash a new rom without any fuss, but I do not believe this likely to happen.
Here are my device specs:
Code:
BRAVO PV1 SHIP-ON
HBOOT-0.93.0001
MICROP-01d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.11.05.27
-Android 2.2
-T-MOBILE UK - Branded
-Not-Rooted
-4GB Micro SD Card (GoldCard)
Before any tells me to do my research and check the entire forums and says it all depends on your desire, well the whole point of the thread is to give me guidance on what to do next and then summarize your points and experience.
If any more information is require, please tell me so.
Thank you.
Little Bump. No one?
Root
Flash Baadnewz 1.7c
EOD
root read , read again , check the threads of the roms u want to try , download rom , instal and if you like keep it if not repeat from (Check)
regards
baadnewz has to be the quickest most lag free hd rom
Forget hd if you want zero lag just stick to standard Sense or aosp gingerbread.
I've tried Alex V HD which is very good but not zero lag and heard lots of good news about baadnewz.

its got a memory leak and is sluggish after time
First of all - root it (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788044).
Second - S-Off (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=805811).
Need help? Search xda and google, google, google!
Then - READ ALOT about the different roms, apps/data2sd, recovery images etc etc and choose the one you like most. Search for youtube videos of the roms you like.
Pay attention - some roms work only with specific radio versions. Most roms require (or at least suggest) performing a full phone wipe (including davlik cache), so don't forget to backup EVERYTHING before you start (including contacts, sms, mms). AND NEVER EVER REBOOT / DISCONNECT CABLE WHEN FLASHING!

I was leaning towards this rom, good job you told me this.
Also, please guys, although I appreciate your guidance I am not new to flashing etc and do not want instructions on 'how to root, flash, S-OFF and S-ON'. If you read my question, all I want is your opinions/views on what ROM is good enough to meet my specifications as well as your experiences. I do not want to keep flashing my phone, that's another reason why this thread was created. And Please no 'SEARCH GOOGLE, XDA FORUMS', and choose what you like. I will research the ROM that I have narrowed down, helped suggested by you guys and then Check if it's good to go. I know some of you will find me arrogant, which is not the case.
Keep your suggestions coming in...
Thank you.
youve picked the roms you want to try , why dont you try them and find out for yourself.
and no i dont find you arrogant more lazy
I'd recommend Baadnwz. I found it to be one of the quickest!
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Most of you guys are suggesting 'badnewz', tell me your experiences with it.
...Or shall I just flash a unbranded Stock ROM and Root and Partition the SD?
Thanks
EDIT: What do you guys think of this ROM 'Ginger Villain 0.8?
I was using gingervillian 0.8 for awhile and found it to be very good, however as only the nexus s is running gingerbread officially, I found there are some apps that I need that won't work.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Now I'm thinking of flashing to the standard HTC Stock ROM and ROOT+APP2SD...
I'd recommend teppic's stock ROM + updates. Why ? Because the author updates it regularely and has offered lots of optional addons, meaning the ROM is not a "try to please all so im stuffed with all imaginable crap" one.

Use starbust rom it is fast and stable and gives you internal memory of upto 2GB
Maybe I want to use Leedroid
Mine was doing that as well. I was previously using oxygen which was fast, but Leedroid 2.4 gave me unbareable lag at times. I have now switched to Lee's new gingerbread 3.0.2 rom and have found it so much quicker. May be worth a try?

I am planning to go to his gingerbread one but not until its been out their and tested longer.
any news when will the htc gb will be released?
Why dont you test it yourself and leave feedback instead of leeching
Kind of fixed the problem, all I did was switch the phone on and off :S

Keep on restarting in very 5 minz :(

Hello,
after trying fr 2 days finally i have rooted my desire
Software version: 2.29.405.5
then i flashed Cool Sensation v6, but after successful installation my desire reboots in every 5 mins of its own, then i flashed bootfix.zip provided by coolexe.
im tired then i flashed RcmixS 2.1 but same issue again reboots in every 5 minz
now im with CM7 no reboot issue..
Any help for this please i need to try Cool's Sensation.
Hboot: 0.93.1000
radio:5.17.05.23
You could try to flash a different kernel, just make sure if your using a sense ROM, you flash a sense kernel, and if you're using an AOSP (Android Open Source Project) ROM, you flash an AOSP kernel.
The issue could be caused by the fact that some devs undervolt the CPU to save battery, however this may cause frequent restarts (From what I've heard - Plz correct if I'm wrong )

[Q] Problems with Virtuous Roms

Hello Guys,
Ive Got a Problem, thats why i'm here.
Ive got a Rooted HTC Desire Z (data under my Question)
and everytime I want to flash a Rom from VIrtous or with Virtous Basement
I get a Blackscreen at rebooting, other Roms are working (like CM9)
And because thats very weird I want to ask the Pro's
Data:
- Hboot-0.84.2000 (PC1011000)
- 4Ext Recovery System
Thanx Eddiegame
(and if theres a [Q] existing, it wouldnt help cauz my Cell is very crazy)
Edit: Actually, this is the Desire Z hboot...Have you tried flashing Sense ROM's or the ICS ROM they offer?
Jss i did flash nearly all Virtuous Roms, which are aviable
But none has been working... all Blackscreen.
Even Virtuous Sense 2.0.0?
I presume you have set up and have a grasp of how to use adb. If you haven't, look up a guide in our forum.
So, does adb recognize your device while it's trying to boot? (You can confirm this if you run "adb devices" ) If it does, what output are you getting when running "adb logcat"?
Sent from my DZ.
Jes i know how to use adb
and i tested with the Primadonna Rom
and it Said :
Code:
- waiting for device -
error: protocol fault (no status)
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
and the "error" is coming, when the blackscreen starts ...
hi, i am trying to flash the sense Android Revolution HD with HTC Sense 3.5 rom as posted by you on my G2 but it after installation it gets stuck at the htc boot screen, amazingly this happens with all sense 3.5 roms like CoreDroid v1.3, Virtuous Affinity etc. but roms like CM7 - PyroMod etc. are installed and run pretty ok(ok the andriod process keeps crashing while calling), could you put some light on the matter. i am new to this previously the g2 was running the mexdroid rom and i brought it online. i really want the phone to run HTC stock rom or similar coz i love the look and the feel of it. any guidance on the same would be greatly appreicated. cant post on the form coz i still dont have the rights to do so.'

Dear mh09ad5578
Habe you tried the BlissSense ? Its the best one with 3.5 in my opinion the others did also not work for me so try this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1485689
Eddiegame
I suggest against 3.5 entirely, it's way too bloated to run smoothly on our phones.
There's plenty of Sense 4.0 development. The ROM's we have right now are blazing fast and pretty much everything works, except for camera. Won't take long till we have fully functional Sense 4.0 ROM's.
So my advice is to stick with Stock (Virtuous Sense 2.0.0), until Camera works in Sense 4.0. Also, flash the Unity kernel, I have v9 on mediafire (can't find v10 right now).
Eddiegame, in case you haven't tried that ROM then please do. It's stock with Virtuous kernel/tweaks.
But my Problem is that virtousroms aren't working right now.
At the moment im at Glite, waiting for a fully working Sense 4.0a
so i will wait c:
