I understand that the UK will get the update in October but have no idea on which day? Is it worth waiting or should I just flash it through XDA...? If I flash will I get the same features as the UK 2.3.4 will have? I am looking forward to the HD recording and the panorama camera and with a bit of luck, a better battery life.
no panorama app on the XPlay, probably a hardware-to-software mismatch.. FW releases often (always) do not have a definite date of release.. it just comes by unnoticed until you read it somewhere or your phone updated by itself..
2.3.4 for XPlay has better battery life and has 720p video recording, at least it's the opinion of others who have tried the nordic version.. i'm still waiting for OTA
Today , when i connect using PC companion , I am getting a "phone software information is currently not accessible" , is this just me or are they getting ready for v2.3.4?

Hi,
Im lurking in these forums for quite a while and Im preparing to buy a Motorola Defy for myself. I would ask you some questions about current CM7+GB mods (the infos are spread over hundreds of pages and some are already outdated, so search didnt help):
[2011-09-26]
- is the GPS and aGPS working on the current build/nightly?
- is the system still very hungry for the battery power?
- is the camera working correctly (green lens, I dont need high quality)?
- is the WiFi connection stable?
- is the WiFi and USB tethering working?
- any facebook app working with this build?
Thank you in advance, replies will help me decide should I get this phone or not (carrier: ORANGE PL) - Ive seen the phone and hate its Android 2.1+Motoblur, Ive also seen the news about it not getting any official upgrade to GB (and Defy+ wont be avalible anytime soon here).
Everything mentioned above works well with the current CM7 RC1.5 by Quarx with good battery life , not sure bout inbuilt USB tether though (if anyone could confirm!?).

Thank you for your answear mate! (where's the "THX!" button? )
So what's not working on the 1.5? Any known issues I should be aware of?
And last Q: Is the polish ("polski") language supported there? For menus, T9 dictionary and swype?

Hi Sileam, Offcial 2.2.2 froyo is avaliable from Motorola nd u Need a 2.2.2 Forwares to Install CM7.
Sorry there wont be any official 2.3 for Defy (from motorola Forum)..
the Defy+ will have 2.3 and it use RED lense only .. Moto Team dont want to develop two firware or OS for Red and Green lens . So dnt expect an 2.3 update for Defy.
So i swtched to cm7 Rc1.5 .. its Ubercool..
No Facebook native App in cm7. U can Use The Gapp If needed which will download Facebook(Stupid way. u can directly download Facebook App from market).
Bt what i use is friendcaster . Offcial Facebbok App is too slow and Buggy .. Friendcaster also has Lot Things that Facebook native App dnt have like "Like" a comments , see who all "Liked" and lot more and the chat app is too gud ..
My Red Lesn works awesome and Battery Backup is gud . Stock froyo give me 2.5 days and Same the CM7.
how u get 2.5 days battery life????? my battery drains in 12 hours...

Hello guys. In Bulgaria we still don't have the 2.3.4 for the normal Arc. The latest is 2.3.3 4.0.A.2.368(or it was something like this). The stand by really kills my nervs, cause if i do not make thousand tricks with thousand optimizing programs before locking the phone, the battery goes in a matter of day with consumption of 60mAh. My phone is too precious to me for updating it with some hacking programs. I saw many died Arcs after things like these and I'm scared. Want or not soon if the BG operators don't release the update i will be forced to update my phone manually.
So, to come back to the topic. I've found this software: megaupload.com/?d=JQ4YT2N0 Can you guys help me by giving me the exact versions of flashtool or etc that i need + the needed things i have to follow? Thanks in advance!
If battery life is your main concern don't update all the latest stock firmwares,2.3.3+ have rubbish standby battery life! I wish I never bothered upgrading!

When I was using 2.3.4 my average battery use was 2% an hour. You just need to set your apps to longer refresh intervals and turn off Facebook inside xperia.
Flashtools is really easy to use. I've got 2 arc's and I had an x10 and I have never had a problem. Also if you flash to the global generic firmware you will get new updates through pc companion as soon as they are released by Sony Ericsson.

I found Generic Global LT15i's 4.0.2.A.0.42. I've read somewhere that if my ROM is generic i will receive earlier the SE updates. My other question is, will i receive updates with rooted phone? Cause i found very sweet mega bass acoustics and i think they worth installing!
I have the Acer A100 running 2.007.04_EMEA_GB, has anyone had this auto update yet? or is there any word when we will get the ICS update here in the UK?
also if I were to flash one of the ICS roms or the 3.2GEN1 rom, would I need to root the Tablet first? or is it just put the update.zip on the external SD and boot into recovery?
Cheers

I got the OTA update to my 2.007.04_EMEA_GB this morning here in Quebec (07/05). I was concerned because all the comments seemed to be about GEN1 or 2, but decided to just be patient. Nothing had led me to believe that Acer wouldn`t provide an update despite some of the hysteria that was being whipped up in some threads over on acertabletforums. The Acer website stated the roll out would take a week or so and previous experience with phone updates has taught me you can wait up to a month for these things to happen.
I was reluctant to use the full ROM provided by Zeronull as I didn`t want to change my tablet version to a GEN1 as I still have 9 months of warranty (which would have been invalidated). Until Acer release the source so the modders can bring significant changes in performance/functionality, I`ve avoided the temptation to install CWM.
The update came in two parts the same as for the GEN1/2. The first brought Honeycomb up to date and the second was ICS. It is perhaps worth noting that update only appeared when I checked manually rather than waiting for an auto check.
I don`t have my tablet to hand at the moment to give you the full ROM version, but I recall it ended in a 15. Crucially though, it is still an EMEA_GB version of the ROM with all the language packs included.
Performance is MUCH improved, with boot up time now at 50sec where previously it took 1min20.
Zen Pinball scrolls super smoothly in the close up view now whereas it lagged in HC.
Both cameras seem to register colour better than before as experienced on Skype this morning (though they are still very mediocre). Anecdotally, audio seemed a bit louder too with me not needing the volume at max the hear the caller. This however could just be the individual circumstances of the call and I will test more later.
Browsing is faster with pages like Eurogamer and Engadget loading quicker and not "tiling" when scrolling down fast. Also, the ability to customize the font size makes reading web pages for extended periods much more comfortable.
Apologies for being a bit long winded; I hope my response was helpful.
Hi. May I ask what are the improvements for the latest ICS 4.0.4 firmware for Arc S?
I already have the update, but I didn't start updating my phone yet.
Can someone post some performance and hardware improvements. Thanks!
Feels ALOT smoother than the 4.0.3 release. It's got a new baseband, and I have noticed quite a few bug fixes.
The only thing that still sucks balls is the speed of the dialer and contacts lookup, as this is a primary phone function, it's shocking how poorly coded it is, when comparable apps from the store like exDialer are so much faster.
Come on Sony, if as you claim you want to be up there as one of the big Android sellers next year, then you need to sort these lots of little things out, as lots of little things make big differences.
Did they fixed the wifi bug???

WHat!? Really? mine opens in less than a half second...
The battery bug for me is totally gone. I will need some more time testing but so far it seems to be even better than GB for me.
Had no problems with WiFi and tbh its improved for me also. It connects so quick when turning on, the fastest I've seen WiFi connect on any firmware across my various Sony phones
The whole experience is almost perfectly smooth, even with all my apps in the background and heavy auto sync apps (facebook, fb for xperia, friendcaster, exchange email, imap email, whatsapp and google with music, instant upload etc)
Only thing is I would agree with the dialer/contacts app being slow, but usually for me its only when entering it, once its loaded its usually quite smooth I only put this down to all my contacts which are all linked to facebook, google, whatsapp etc
If it helps, I should mention I use Go Launcher as my home launcher
Would highly recommend upgrading
Hm, the slowness of opening Phone or Contacts was the main reason why I reverted to 2.3.4 after trying 4.0.3 so this makes me think it's not worth to try 4.0.4 after all.
Are there any real advantages of 4.0.4 over 2.3.4? Beyond a fresh interface and higher version numbers? Is game performance still worse in ICS than GB?
What about the home launcher is it still slow as hell/Now im on arconium muiu and i really like it but i still want to know about the 4.0.4

4.0.3 for me was really slow and poor all round. Although I mentioned it is slow in 4.0.4, it is only as slow as it was for me on 2.3.4. I wouldn't say its any slower. And so far it seems smoother once it has opened. Hope this helps!
Feels much faster than 4.0.3 but light notifications aren't working and they're quite important to me.
It's far from perfect.
Hi. Thank you for all of your replies. I'm currently updating my phone thru PCC.
Did they fix digital compass bug in google map??

It is a lot smoother than the last 4.0.3 release (that release was CRAP) BUT it still is not as smooth as GB
I think I can stand using 4.0.4 for a couple more days, then I'm flashing back to the buttery smoothness of GB.
I hope the next ICS release will be up to the quality of their GB releases.

how about the Battery and the Camera improvements? Thanks!
I'm happy about the update, my Arc S got faster than I had from the previous version.
If you guys are experiencing slowness or lagspikes after the ICS update directly from PCC or SEUS.. It would be best to do a backup and do a master reset..
What sony did was update the software and pretty much synced the current software and existing info with the ICS 4.0.4 update instead of completely deleting the GB software and installing ICS..
I also did my daily routine with the new update to find out the battery life difference.. For me its much more efficient..
There is still the issue with the digital compass of google maps..
Some apps are not yet optimized for ICS but thats acceptable since ICS only holds a very small percentage of users compared to GB users..
The camera feels more faster in response time.. The update now has an option to enable/disable an on-screen shutter button.. But i still prefer the touch-screen snapping option instead of the shutter button option though..

can you teach me how to do Master Reset? Thanks.
Btw, why does the camera image quality in 4.0.4 became blurry even it uses Auto-Focusing?
I've got the latest version of JellyBean 4.1,but I found it really sucks, the 2G networks is **** ,and the FULL HD recording lags, I'm looking forward to see another update from Sony though two JB update have been released, but the bugs still exist....
Anyone knows If it is possible for Arco S to get another update?
Acro S will get bugfix update. If they have solved XS problems AS and ION should be bugfixed too.
update for xperia s is coming for jb here is the link
http://www.xperiablog.net/2013/08/01/new-xperia-s-update-coming-in-the-form-of-6-2-b-1-xx/
I asked Sony Mobile Czech Republic if any updates for Ion are planned... They said that they don't know because they dont have any info, but i hope at least for bugfixes
