Hi,
I have a data plan on my htc Universal (using Windows 6.1) and have a data plan on the Uni. I wanted to use my Uni to connect to PC through a USB cable and use the Uni as a modem. The PC uses Windows XP
I cannot seem to find the driver and/or explanation of how to use Universal as a usb modem. Do excuse me if there is a previous post, but I cannot seem to find the post.
Can someone help?

Does anyone know how to use the Artemis via BT as an modem for a Laptop ??
I did try it on my MDA C3 and Win XP SP2 + Widcomm stack.
1. Pair the devices
2. Run Internet Sharing on the PDA
3. On the PC use PAN service to connect
4. You're connected
Works without any problems.

Thanks for your help
Can you this via the USB cable? but the PC connects via the GPRS connection on the Orbit....?
Jez
Yes you can. Set the Internet Sharing app to USB and connect it to PC. The PC will recognize it as a LAN connection - Windows Mobile-based Internet Sharing Device. It is already configured and ready to use.
I'm using this method as I type.
I don't know if you can use Wi-Fi with Int-Sharing app as I own MDA C3 that has it disabled.

Sorry to go over this in detail, I have XDA orbit and want to use it as a modem via GPRS with my laptop connected to it. It works one was as in the XDA Ordbit uses my laptops connectivity but does not seem to work the other way. Could you confirm this is working for you and the exact steps I need to take.
Thanks

Hi all, I run Vista x64 Ultimate and connect my devices with Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) I recently dug my O2 Xda Exec out but its stuck at the boot screen, i.e. says serial at the top then v1.00 at the bottom, if I connect the USB cable the word 'Serial' changes to USB
I have unchecked the 'Allow USB Connections' in WMDC and the PC does it's USB Bing Bong sound as you plug in the xda to the USB, unfortunately when using Mtty I get no USB option, consequently I can't input the commands and continue with the install. I have also tried using the Uni_exitbootloader.exe, again this states there is no USB option. I was trying to get either the Ranju v77 rom or the original xda exec rom installed.
I have checked the USB ports using other devices and all function ok, so what's going wrong?
Going to try from another machine today, its running XP pro so I should have more luck!
**SOLVED**
Problem solved.
Advice: Don't use Vista x64 to update these PDA's
The solution was to go to my XP system and upgrade from there, installed original Xda_Exec_Upgrade_v1.30.162.exe then once that was ok I tried out Ranju_v77_WM61_19900_19900_1_0_2.exe.
my issue now is wireless encryption, apparently I only have up to WEP and I use WPA, will do a search but if anyone knows how to deal with this can you post.

Hello,
I have some issue to connect my laptop to my netbook through BT. Windows does not find the driver for the phone.
I allready installed wdmc ans it works fine with the cable.
I am using the official wm6.5 rom and w7 x64.
I would be very happy if someone has the driver to share
Thank you
I am the only one experiencing this behaviour?
Has someone else successfuly connected its TP2 to a w7 computer with BT ?
Thank you,
well I have not tried this on windows 7 but on xp there was no need for a driver. I just paried my phone with the laptop then under services i picked the network data(something or other not sure what the name was). so have you paried with you computer via bluetooth yet?
I found the solution on the forum; the trick was to force W7 to use some driver present in WMDC.
Sadly I don't have the link to that thread anymore
Dear Sirs;
Maybe this part of forum not be the proper place for my question but I don't know the poeple more expert than XDA masters.
Since last monday, computer cant recognize my Diamond when I connect it by USB cable and "USB device not recognized" appears. I will be really appreciated if you kindly help me.
Best Regards

Try reinstalling Active Sync/Windows Mobile Device Center.
First remove Active Sync/ WMDC, restart PC and than install Active Sync/ WMDC.
Thanks for your kind attention. I reinstalled Activesync...no change, computer can't recognize the Diamond. My Diamond charges with both charger and computer, USB headphone works but PC can't recognize it....
I'm so confused and will be really appreciated if XDA masters help me.
Best Regards
XP or Vista or Windows 7 or which OS?
I've tried by both WIN XP and Vista.
could be a few possibilities for XP atleast...
activesync - file->connection settings->allow usb connections checked
faulty cable, try another one
faulty port on computer, try another one
driver issue - a difficult one...
i had this on my xp, found out there's something wrong with the cable - phone charging fine via computer USB, but XP says it doesn't recognize the device so doesn't connect to activesync....
good luck
Try on your Diamond -
Start>Settings>USB to PC
Unchek "Enable faster data synchronization"
If none of the above solutions work, maybe a hard reset...
I tried another cables, all options in "USB to PC", Activesync options, hardreset, even install other ROM but PC still can't recognize the Diamond.
It seems to be a Hardware problem but Diamond can be charged by USB and USB headphone works properly... I'm so confused .
Thanks Millions
Dariush

Try this in order...
1. Connect diamond to pc - it should at least charge as your say, but not detect Activsync
2. Goto Settings > Connections > USB to PC
3. Check Allow USB Connections > Uncheck allow fast data sync...
Does it connect?
if not and if you are using Vista
1. goto Windows Mobile device Center
2. check the attached image to see you have the same settings...
Does it connect?
if still not, then it could be driver issues, which I can suggest, once you reply to the above...
Thanx for your attentions. I've tried uncheking the said bottom but no change.
I used to connect the Diamond to the same notebook without any problem for more than 16 months, but the damn notebook stop recognizing my Diamond these days .
Thanks Millions
Dariush
may be usb port on your computer is malfunction. Did u try different usb port?
You need to open device manager in control panel to see how you diamond is listed.
Ever since i started with a new company 3 years ago they have some software that prevents activesync from connecting to any device I have from their computers using USB.
I went Bluetooth method and all is fine. I just use the USB for large, direct file transfer to internal storage.
If you get issues with activesync and usb and can take ages to resolve (if possible).
I guy's.
After a lot of search in this forum and a lot of other forum's, i came to this threat.
I had the same problem, my diamond didn't connect to my pc.
I had tried all the different suggestion, and nothing seemed to work. until i read the post of cloudedhopes, that suggested to change the usb cable. Because it was the only thing that i hadn't tried, i did change the cable, and it worked!
So i'm posting only to thank you guy's for all of the help, given not directly to me, but to all user!
