Hello all... Forgive me if this has already been asked and answered, I've searched for a few days and have not been able to find a solution. Since installing this mod, my phone has been rebooting randomly, at least twice a day, but it does it similarly to the reboots that would happen when long pressing home before the update. Like when using fast reboot.it seems to only happen when waking the phone up out of deep sleep. For instance when I hop in the car after a ten hour work day, plug my aux cable in and use I heart radio.it will act as if the app is buffering, as soon as I unlock the phone and go to check if it is just buffering the phone reboots. At first I thought it was just the app so I switched to pandora, but yesterday and today while on my lunch break I go to the xda app (in an attempt to find a solution to this issue) and go to my favorites and it reboots again. I am using the pulled stock kernel with Crawrj's stock eg30 deodexed rom. I flashed the mod with Chris41g's eg30 cwm plus stock without root and then I flashed back to pulled stock kernel. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling twice. Any help will be appreciated.

I know this is the appropriate area, but you might get a faster response by posting your issue in the mod thread. The Dev is pretty responsive.
Just an FYi, I run this mod with Midnight ROM, stream 7 hours or so a day and have no issues.
.....
I know id really like to but unfortunatly I can't post there yet. Since the captivate came out I've never had to ask for help I've always been able to find solutions by reading and paying very close attention.this is the first time I've ever had to ask for help Because everyone is so awesome
At what they do here.thanks for the advice anyways.
Edit: I've also noticed that with this mod I get excellent battery life. UsuallyI get maybe 8 hrs total without it. Even with android os being so high.
Right now I have 81% at 8.5hrs

I honestly cannot find the cause of this. I Have tried everything in my power to try to fix this problem but absolutely nothing seems to work. When using my phone regularly (only on froyo) my phone will get very very hot and then start a reboot loop where it keeps rebooting and rebooting and rebooting. I have the official 2.2 update. Currently not rooted but S-OFF. I wanted to see if the root was causing any problems but im still getting the reboots. I Love my Inc. and i love the AMOLED screen. I want to be able to fix this problem so i dont get stuck with a ****ty replacement. PLEEZ HELP MEEZ
first thing would be to tell everyone what ROM you're on and if you're running setCPU.

I get this problem all of the time and I will tell you it has nothing to do with root. In fact, I'm not sure it is even a software issue. I have done multiple factory resets to try to troubleshoot the problem.
There is a thread at AndroidForums about it that I am currently running, but I can't link to it evidently. Look in the Support section for the Incredible.
How did you update? You're running a 2.xx radio, right?
If your problems are surviving a full wipe + RUU, the most likely culprit is that your hardware is failing.
It's a full wipe stock 2.2 and yes I have the newest radio
I was having the same issue with my phone on Stock 2.1, Stock 2.2, custom ROMs, etc. No software updates/configurations would make the random reboots stop. Anything that taxed the CPU seemed to cause my reboots. The easiest way to reproduce was to just start GPS'ing somewhere. Within minutes, the phone would go into a reboot loop that would usually only stop after a battery pull.
I took the phone into VZW while it was doing a reboot loop, showed it to them, and they put in a replacement order for me. The replacement (yes, it's a refurb) has been rock solid over a few days of heavy use. I read that if you had an AMOLED screen, then you're replacement will also be AMOLED.
tl;dr; - random reboots on stock ROM with no mods is probably a hardware failure. Go with a refurb.
Decided to go to VZW and order a replacement. They told me it would be a new phone and not a refurb but I don't trust them. Anyways it comes Thursday. I shall report back my friends. I still find this problem to be so odd
I'm running CM 6.1 RC1 currently, but I have had random reboots ever since I started using CM 6.0 nightly. (stock kernel)
I havent been able to get any responses in the CM threads since there are so many people posting in there.
At first my reboots were only happening when I had my phone docked in the car and navigation/other video was playing. Now I seem to be getting more reboots with just web browsing or playing games.
I tried to wipe my phone and put only a few apps back on it, but that still doesnt seem to help.
Is there anyway I can figure out what is causing the reboots? Will a logcat show the problem?
Thanks
I've been having a similar issue after attempting to upgrade from fresh 3.2 to 3.3/3.4, especially when trying to connect to a wifi hotspot for the first time. This also happened to me a few months back with the cause of the issue being the gps. I was able to solve that issue by reverting back to unrooted stock and performing a master reset. I'm going to try this method again and see if it helps. I'll post whether it fixed it or not. Can you narrow down the cause of your reboots at all?
I thought originally it was app related. I flashed a new rom, and had almost no apps on there. Still had the same results. Only thing I can try is a complete wipe, and install no apps. I would need a few days where I dont need my phone to do that. That's why I was hoping there was a way to debug from logs.
I've been dealing with the same issue for about a week now. My phone started rebooting just a few times a day, but the last few days it reboots every few minutes during use (not sure if it reboots while not in use). I wiped a thousand times, flashed and reflashed a half a dozen different ROM, went from Amon to Clock and back to Amon, but nothing works. I reformatted my SD card a dozen times as well. I called Sprint last night, and they're sending me a new phone in the mail. But I want to understand/fix the problem for hubris sake.
I just ran the latest RUU and rerooted and it's still randomly rebooting.
My phone would reboot every minute on any rom but rooted stock called sprint got a replacement. Rerooted

We have gone over hhis a thousand times, and it seems (as Eric cartman would say) we are fed in the a. It is a hardware related problem that mostly occurs on rooted phones. Unrooting does bubcus. Go to sprint store, spend from cristmas to new years in line, show them the problem, and get a replacement. There have been no other solutions found.
Exactly what I would have done. Here's hoping I won't have to.

can anyone post a logcat or DDMS log?
That happened to me. Other than the android process media thing. If you go into terminal emulator and type
Su
Fix_permissions
. And let it run through it fixed any rebooting problems I had. I found it happens when running new apps. So I just run it after every app I install.

Where is the DDMS log stored?
Will the logs retain the information say 10 minutes after the reboot? I usually get the reboots in my car.
The random reboots that happened to me were from using siedio 1750, when I switched back to the stock battery and now the HTC 2600mAh battery, the problem has since now been solved.

I had the Photon so random reboots aren't to surprising to me. Hell even on my old T-Mobile htcs I flashed so much random reboots were the name of the game. But with my phone rebooting at least 6 times in the past 24 hours, I'm not too thrilled. It happens doing the most random tasks. Stumble upon, trying to open Gmail once, internet browsing. I'm wondering if this is because of root or just the phone. Anyone else experience this?

No random reboots here. Did you flash any kernels or are you stock?
I got my phone Friday 9-16, still 100% stock no root and I have not had one random reboot. If you are on stock without root you should return your phone, sounds like it is defective to me. When I saw random reboots in the title I thought I was in the Old Epic section
random reboot = probably a dud
manufacturers manufacture thousands of these devices a day, and flaws unfortunately occur

I am rooted. I first rooted with the Zedomax method, and then tried v5 of the ACS method two days ago, which is when I started getting the random reboots. I now switched to the Zedomax Overclocked Kernel (not using the overclock) to see if that fixes anything. If not maybe they'll release the stock kernel soon, and find a way to reset both flash counters.
Im completely stock and have had 2 reboots today. At first I thought maybe my hip case was pressing buttons but I had it out on my desk and then I hear it reboot. Im like WTF? I remember it did this on day one a couple of times and maybe a couple since then now I get 2 today damn near back to back. When the update comes out to fix known issues, hopefully this is one of them!
just got one today. Running Stock..
I am completely stock. No root. I've had 3 already.
I've reverted to the stock kernel with root and no reboots so far. I'm making sure to keep my number of open apps low though

I've had 2 random reboots tonight. One was while uploading photos to facebook, the other was while it was just sitting in my cupholder in the car. The cupholder one was weird though, the screen was on, and it made the reboot noise. It was like it lagged on it, but the phone was still semi usable for about a minute, then it finally shut off and came back. Another thing is random keyboard freezes, and again tonight, my settings menu wouldn't come up until after I restarted it.
So far in the week of having this phone it has rebooted twice

Well, it's been 4 days now without a reboot. I'm guessing stopping services makes this thing go crazy. I thought stopping maps, turning off background data, etc would make battery life better (like it did on the Epic)...well, it doesn't, and like I said earlier, freaks this thing out. So, don't stop anything, and it'll be fine.

Mine is going to be 1 week old tomorrow, and I am currently stock (so weird for me I root as soon as I get a device), but I honestly havent felt the need to root, and I also wanted to run a stock device for a while.
Anyhow, no problems here phone is running solid, no reboots or anything.
I had to do manually restart yesterday in order to get the camera working again. Went into the camera, and it was just a black screen with the controls around it. I love Android, but I hate that it isn't as stable as BBOS, or even iOS.

I am very new with flashing a rom. I have flashed mkasick's kernal over the samfirmware release and now Toad's amazing rom. I am experiencing unusual results on both. Out side of reading the threads and watching for updates, is there something else I should be doing? I have checks relevant threads every day for the last week or so. I am beginning to think I may need a new epic. I will reodin this thing again to see if the results improve, but I have the ever discouraging feeling I may need to go back to Froyo. Stock unrooted Froyo for me had reboots and shut downs more than any other rom since but at least I knew when my phone shut down. Any suggestions to help me out would be much appreciated. Thanks!
You did it wrong. The kernel goes after the ROM.

I see my written english is just as terrible late at night as it is during the day. What intended to state was that I have flashed 2 roms in my time with my epic. First the Samfirmware one along with that amazing kernal and more recently I have flashed Toad's rom. I did not mean I flashed a kernal first (though I almost did try by accident the first go).
At this time, I am still having issues. I know this odin, like most, contain everything (as toad stated many times in his thread), but I lack confidence that I didn't miss something obvious. I flashed odin with the pit file as stated and removed the md5 extension before doing so. If any other details would be helpful to know, I would be glad to provide them.
What are the exact issues you are seeing?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Post my second Odin'ing, I have only had a few app issues. For starters the 'My Files' was gone until reboot. Upon a reboot, I had a random android icon in my app drawer that didnt correspond to any particular app and stated it was missing (whatever it was). That is it as of now. On the first odin'd usage, I had freezes where the phone would make the startup sound and even the sprint screen would flash but I could use the screen button to turn the screen on and off during this. I had other random freezes where screen would just look up on the home screen and another where I had full function, but the status bar no longer existed. Last night before I flashed again, I had some screen tearing right below the status bar. I have not been able to reproduce any of the errors, but I suppose my epic may just hate me. Thanks for taking the time to ask.
There are apps that some ROM builders take out for bloat or to make room for superuser and busybox (rooting). These may be Sprint TV, Asphalt, TeleNav and others. Once you figure out which app you are missing we can help you get it back. Some also remove myfiles but I see yours came back. This is a good reason to run Titanium backup before flashing anything. You can restore missing apps with it.
I am running Titanium as we speak. I never realized the difference between that and App Backup & Restore. Night and day there... Thanks again for the help.
Hi guys. I wanted to post this question under this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1322642
but I don't have enough posts and am not allowed to post there yet.
I love the Juggernaut ROM and its worked great for me thus far. (Thanks for all your hard work Team Kang)
However, I've come across my first problem with it.
Actually I don't know if its my phone or the Rom but when I try using Adownloader for torrents, my phone shuts down to black screen.
I then have to play with it for a while (plug it into power source, unplug, battery pull, etc) to be able to power it up again
My thoughts were initially that maybe my phone couldnt handle the wifi speed 2.5 mbps download and that it overheats which causes the shutdown but I downloaded an app that checks temperature and my batter temp never goes up past 36 degrees celcius (96.8 Fahrenheit) and has even shut down at low temps like 26 degrees celcius (78.8 Fahrenheit).
So I've found out that overheat isnt the issue.
I've searched all over the net and this is the only other instance I can find. Coincidently the guy is also using Juggernaut 4.1 on T989
http://www.reddit.com/comments/ojfw3/can_we_really_not_torrent_directly_to_our_phone/?sort=old
Is my problem due to the Bullet kernel being overclocked to 1.8?
Please help as it would be GREAT to download movies to my phone @ 2.5 mbps
I had this problem once and gave up on torrenting. My immediate advice would be to flash a another kernel as bullets is relatively unstable compared to others

Thanks for the tip
I just flashed the darkside kernel.
Hopefully this does the trick.
I will report back when I go home and check
edit.
One big improvement I've noticed so far is that my what's app receives messages when I haven't opened what's app.
Previously, if I rebooted my phone or close what's app, I wont receive any messages until I opened up the app but now I get all messages without opening up the app.

Fresh Wipe and Flash juggs 5.0 or another ROM. You don't necessarily need to WIPE to update to 5.0, but I would to fix your first world problems.
I am using Jugg's 5.0, and have this problem also. I have been having it ever since I flashed juggs 4.1. I am running stock kernel, so it isn't the kernel either. I am trying to run a log cat to see if a DEV can maybe see what the true issue is.
Once I get a logcat of it crashing, I will send to whitehawkx and see if he can help.

I used the darkside kernel and my phone is working perfectly!
Thanks you Darkside!!!
Torrented a movie yesterday at 2.5 mbps (5 min) and was able to use all share to stream to my tv on wifi
Holy technology
Also, my battery life is insane!!!
I've had my phone off the charger for 6 hours and am still at 70% at moderate use.!!!
Thats with twittering, whats app, very little surfing
Can't believe I can actually use my phone and still get 18+ hours off one charge.
Thank you Darkside!!!
