Just like every other hero user.

I finally stepped into the world of evo ") I got my phone last night rooted it and installed the newest nightly from cyanogen mod 6.0. Everything is running so perfect. My only question is, is there a way to turn on the backlights at the bottom, ie. The home key, menu key etc. Thanks

These are on anytime the screen is on.
I see you are using cyanogen mod 6.0. In that case you should goto the cyanogen thread and see if other users have this issue.
actually they are only on when the screen is on and the phone is not plugged. Are they not coming on at all for you? if not were they coming on before you rooted/flashed cm6?
I have my backlight set to auto.
Anytime I take my phone someplace dark, the turn on. Even if I am not using the phone. I really like it, so I can see the buttons and know the orientation of the phone in pitch black.
Hmm, actually in looking at it now, they may just always be on. I am on hardware 02 from the google conference.

Unlocking, but screen does not come on

I've been having this problem lately since I re-flashed the stock rom on my G2, whenever I press my lock button, sometimes the 4 capacitive buttons at the bottom turn on, but my screen remains black. When I press the lock button again, the screen will flash on and off as if it was on the whole time and the lock button locked it. I usually just have to spam the lock button a few times until it turns on correctly, is anybody else having this problem?
Also, I'm able to press on the unlocking button on the screen and drag it to the other side and I'll have all of the haptic feedback and swipe to different homescreens, I just can't see anything on the screen.
I came from one of the thrown together Desire Z roms and I flashed paul's stock rom, the one with superuser preloaded. I also flashed Cyanogen's addon shortly after the rom. I'm looking for a solution that doesn't require any factory resets, thanks for the help.
Bump
Help please, it's getting worse

You aren't the only one with this problem. Are you running an overclocked kernel? It seems like when I run an overclocked kernel I get this problem and when I'm running stock, I don't
Did u flashed back to stock kernel?
How would I flash back to stock kernel? Would I just re flash the stock rom?

same problem with mine, i think it has something to do with the kernel. many people reported watching youtube videos or having youtube open in the back also caused the same problem

[Q] Captivate sometimes doesn't fully turn on

Hi all,
I have a fairly frequent issue with my Glide Captivate. Unfortunately too frequently, when I turn it on, the network is disabled (O with slash through it), most widgets say "Loading Widget..." the slide down status menu shows nothing (well except the Wifi / BT / GPS toggles.) and "USB Connected" if it is. Nothing else. The phone gets incredibly hot, and near as I can tell sucks the battery. The screen often won't unlock - it will just light up the 4 soft buttons on the bottom (menu, home, etc). When I CAN get on it, I get frequent "Sorry! Process system is not respoding"
Attempting to go through System / Manage Applications - usually about a minute in the screen will blank for a minute then go back to the lock screen.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Try re flashing the rom, if you're using one. If you're not using a rom, and it's not rooted, try restoring it?

Stock rom, it is rooted. Unfortunately, restoring it is the fix - like every week
Could be a hardware issue if you have a warrenty i would complain and try and get a new one which means you need to flash a non rooted stock rom i dont know if you can do this ive never had to remove root

Hey i had the same issue for months with my glide. I bought it outright from rogers and was just running it stock. Drove me nuts exchanged the phone 3 times. Finally narrowed it down to the media scanner/sd card issue. The scanner would run a few times and then reboot the phone. I tried booting it without the sd card in and booted up fine. Tried a dew diff sd cards and seem to have found one that works, but it would happen once every few weeks for me. Ive looked it up on the forums its that common problem with samsung phones. Pain in the butt. Cant remember if you said you were rooted id recommend trying that im too chicken myself. Happens on my sgs2 also.

I have also this issue once in a while, its very annoying, I think that if we could have a AOSP rom that would fix it since samsung polluted their rom so much. Maybe if we get lucky, with the ICS/JB update that issue will be gone. I have also another issue, the phone randomly turns "off" and becomes really hot, it depends on how long it takes for me to realize, but most of the time, it has drained my battery to near death. I don't think those are hardware related issues, but more on the software side since its not AOSP.
Does the temperature rise when it's charging? Because that happens to my phone too. If you have the voltage control, try lowering the max cpu use to lower the temperature a little bit.

[Q] issues after power off on JB

Very sorry if I missed a fix for this I've looked everywhere and played around for 3 days trying to fix the issue myself... anyways every JB rom I've downloaded and installed for Verizon's gnex gives the same result if my battery goes completely dead I can not boot past the Google screen I can do a pull and load up clockmod but that does nothing wiped everything reinstalled roms on the clean wipe still hangs on Google only way I can fix it is to unroot flash stock and try again I did just say to heck with it I'll just not let my battery drop below 5% and all should be well... well today seemed a little laggy so I though a reboot would help had around 75% battery and it happened so though maybe my phones just special loaded ics back on it rooted and have been trying to make it repeat nothing anyways just wanted to see if this is a issue for JB or if I'm doomed to a life of ICS ?
Thanks for any help and sorry for being long winded
Ahemm...
Vzw gnex? JB? Not sure what you're talking about.. I thought JB is only available on GSM. Isn't vzw an Lte model?
Edit: oh it seems there is a port.

I had the same issue. What I did was wipe using super wipe (on the android HD threads by mike) and then installed the rom again. Now, you need to realize that it is actually NOT getting stuck on the Google logo, you just need to give it time. Everytime I reboot I have to let it sit for a little bit for it to get passed that screen. Try out the Trinity JB kernel, I use it and its pretty good.

depends entirely on what rom you are on.
in paranoid android it is in the lockscreen section of the settings. i would assume most other roms would use similar.
