I open touch.facebook.com but THAT is not the website that opens. Instead I get a website that looks like it was designed in the 90s. And apparently it doesnt work for the people in comments. I deleted history, but nothing.

When I open touch.facebook.com in IE9 on WP7, I get the exact same thing that can bee seen in the video. Besides the top bar. There's no little button for me, but the word "Facebook".
Exactly the same happens here, missing the navigation tab.

Strange, doesn't work on mine. Still says "Facebook" on the top left and shows a magnifying glass on the right.

Doesn't work for me either.
I should have looked at the video. My page is still the older one with the facebook logo in the upper right (it does load when I hit refresh though) heh.

Well, maybe it's the same like google: google's mobile web page is much better on android and iOS but on WP7 it's just that old bland and outdated version.
Worked for me after hitting refresh on my Focus 1.3

Delete your IE temp files and refresh the page........
It isn't working for me either on my 1.3 Focus, and yes, I deleted all of the temp files. That only made things worse, since now all I get is an error loading the page.

A couple of additional interesting data points. I get the exact same error if I try to connect to touch.facebook.com from my desktop IE9 browser. However, when I connect using Firefox (7.0.1, which supports HTML 5) on the same desktop, I get through but the page design is not the new HTML 5 version. It doesn't have the menu button, just the old Facebook logo on the left, and a search button on the right.
I get the new page on my phone now, still have to hit refresh though

Try to log on to m.facebook.com first and then try to open touch.facebook.com that worked for me.
Same thing happened for me, but I don't care. I only went there to see if it would work since I noticed it changed on my other phone.
The iOS app looks the same way, now.
The page works, but only after I hit refresh.

Chrome To Phone is a feature of Froyo that works with the Chrome browser (and possibly FireFox) that allows you to send links from your desktop to your Android phone.
Currently, it only seems to work on 2.2 but I was wondering if anyone has figured out a way to get it working on 2.1?
I've got the "LinkPush" app, but it doesn't work as well (seems to only work via google talk for me.)
If not, I guess I'll have to wait for a Froyo release that supports the cameras.

most every website has a "share" or "send" button as well as google maps just "share" or "send" it to yourself via email, it takes like almost no time whatsoever...then you can just open the email and follow the link on your phone...

At the risk of being yelled at, I think you are missing the point of the question.
Yes, it's possible now to just email a link to myself or something, but it's a rather cool feature to just _push_ it to the phone, and not have to worry about manually navigating through several other steps in the process.
Having said that, I've heard nothing about 2.1 getting that function, and I think it's probably more of a priority to most people to just get 2.2 versus 2.1 with a few hacked functions of 2.2. However, that's my opinion. Yours may vary.

no i understood the question the fact is that we probably are not going to be seeing that in 2.1 well at least not right now, i mean you never know, and frankly if clicking on a link and adding your email address and then clicking send, then just dragging the notification panel and opening the email link on your phone is too much work for you....then... lol i mean its 5 steps haha
Usually with developers, we look for the way to do it how we want (ex. How he was asking). But I am sure he appreciates the HowTo on sending an email.
On a real note, I actually haven't played around with the feature to much but Ill atleast look into it for you. It's a good idea to suggest things while we wait for the 2.1 official or atleast dealing with the half and halfs of cook-ups

my problem is that not every site has the link, and with google maps it sends you a link to the maps.google.com page. Chrome to phone sends a command to your phone that opens up the map in the google maps application, not the browser, so from there you can navigate and such.
Thanks for looking into it rathfon..
Yeah, I know you can email links back and forth, but that's not really what I'm looking for. Any phone can do that, I'm looking more for Google's Continuous Client idea. Pushing a map link opens in maps, pushing a link to an android app opens it in the market, a browser link in the browser, etc. It's just a better way of doing things that I've wanted for a very long time. I thought of it almost 3 years ago with the first iPhone, but I didn't/don't have the know-how to do it.
LinkPush is working fairly well for me at the moment. It's a small android icon located next to the address bar, just a click of the icon sends a Google Talk message to my phone with the link, or I can open the LinkPush app and it lists the link on the top.
It's not as seamless as Google's method, but it works in 2.1 and below, and it's instant with almost no "work". I guess it's a good compromise for now until we get a working Froyo release.

actually for google maps link when you click on it, it gives you the option to either open it in your browser or the actual map app....if you tried it out you would see. if it doesn't give you the option then go to your internet browser in the applications manager and clear your default, thats probably why it wont ask you to choose a program.
Sounds like a good idea
I like the idea. I guess everyone has moved on to getting Froyo working.
How do I set my Tilt 2 to only load regular websites and not the mobile versions? I have tried a multiple browsers, set them to not load mobile and they still load mobile. Is it a setting within the phone itself?
Hi there,
It is indeed a settings option
- open opera and type: opera:config
- scroll down to "user prefs"
- scroll all the way down to "UAProf URL Enabled" and uncheck that box
- scroll down a little more and save "user Prefs"
- restart opera
& you are set 2 go!

I wished that had worked for me. I've tried just about every fix listed on these forums, and the only way to get full sites on my tilt2 is to tag ?m=false onto every non mobile page I want to load. Engadget and CNN are the two I am always testing on.

hard luck bro, try iris browser or skyfire..
btw wat do u mean by ?m=false where to tag this to c complete website
I happen to be on the opposite end. I wish the browser will automatically detect if it has a mobile version but for some reason, my phone always loads just whatever I type on the url. In order for me to load the mobile version, I always have to add m.
Is there anyway that even if I type like engadget.com, it will load m.engadget.com. It's just easier instead of having to add that m.
I think the original rom always tries to load the mobile version because htc probably made change to the preference or code but the energy rom which has the updated stock opera will load the full version by default unless you add the m.

it tags onto the end of the site url after the "/" or after ".html"... but I just checked, it looks like whether or not is works is site specific. Works fine on Engadget (which is what I browse frequently) but not CNN.
I do use skyfire, but it just seems to me that it has been getting consistently slower in page loads/refreshes when scrolling and more prone to timeouts over the last year. I had thought updating from the older version would help, but it seems about the same.

Anyone else notice if you click on a link that takes you to facebook, it opens IE and directs to touch.facebook.com, which at least on my hd7, doesn't work right.
I have to switch it to m.facebook.com
This shows up mainly when I respond to facebook friend requests that show up in my email.
Apparently, according to a dev I read who worked on Mobile Safari and android browsers, web apps developed for those two such as touch.facebook.com won't work in Mobile IE for now. I'm not sure why though, sorry man

Same thing happens on Android (the redirection). If it's from an eMail (in the Email app or on the email site), then it's going to punt you to the website.
If you see a friend request in you email, it's not hard to open the Facebook app and accept it. Do you not get notifications for these?
HTML5 is coming to WP7's IE in an update next year.

I can just change the url once IE opens as well. I just wasn't sure if this was a wp7 issue, IE issue, phone issue.
Thanks for the clarification.
So are these "web apps" like facebook and gmail built with HTML5? Newb question, but i dont know much about that kinda stuff
I really hope Microsoft makes some improvements to IE with the January/February update.

Please report any bugs here. Mention what browser, browser version, and OS you are using, and also provide steps to recreate the problem.
Also, tell us how to improve the Portal. What new features do you want to see?
Thanks in advance.
I am using Google Chrome 16.0.912.63 beta-m (the latest beta version) on Windows 7. Even after logging off and logging back on, the portal sidebar still asks me to log in to access the widget. I have even tried this in an incognito browser (so that all the cookies are cleared), but it still won't show content after logging in.
At the top right, the Google +1 text isn't a hyperlink, whereas all the other links next to it (FB, twitter, YT) have clickable text. Seems inconsistent.

Google text still not hyperlinked for me.
Tried logging out, wiping cache and logging back in. Widget still doesn't work. This is in Chrome / W7 x64.
Also tried on IE, which I have never used for xda, so it's a fresh start. Logged in, widget still doesn't work.
On IE9, I also get this gap on the right above the ad:
http://i.imgur.com/LypIE.jpg (a little too big to display here)
Another one (sorry )...
The Twitter, Facebook and Google+ links at the bottom of each post on the main portal page are just images. They're not linked to anything.
And when viewing an individual article, Google+ is missing completely from the bottom of the post.
Chrome 16 / Win7 x64 and verified on IE9.
Want more?
On the main Portal page, clicking on "xx comments" for any of the articles only takes you to the article itself, and doesn't take you directly to the comments section of the article, as it should.

this WORKS fine for me on the ones i tried, make sure the link has /#comments BROKEN LINKS (top 2 posts) are /#respond
but tweet/+1/fb arent hyperlinked as posted above,
I get the feeling there are some very inconsistant rendering results.
The first time i logged on all i saw was adverts, there maybe the same number but they where much more in your face and apeared larger, it really did look terrible which might explain some of the comments you've had
I then reset my IE9 settings an i now cant comment on any portal posts, just doesnt let me type any more screen is there, all the buttons etc but it wont physically let me type, very odd. but on the plus side the adverts seem to have shrunk a bit. However there are some large gaps, namely below the widget that also doesnt work
There are 5 adverts on the portal, and although they appear larger and more in your face its not as bad as it was the first time i loaded the website and before i reset my browser, which to be fair, i shouldnt need to do. However when you click on the comments button for the article it brings up the list of comments and comments box (which i cant use) but also a couple of adverts right next to each other, that looks terrible, ill see if i can get a pic
oh, you might want to change the first article in the portal, the one with the pic of the new portal, your looking at the new portal, so you see what the pic is showing, except its like picture in picture, which might be a reason some folk think it looks messy, sounds silly, but youd be surprised how our minds work
oh an finally, will the new buttons frame be consistant through XDA, looks better if the buttons stay the same on all pages.
