stock sprint voicemail .apk? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I really hate google voice... at least the attempt to force integrate with sprint. Why should I pay sprint for voice/text/vm if goog is doing all the work now? Anyways... anyone got the .apk or know where to find it?

I'm a noob to XDA so can't start thread on this issue yet... Hope someone seeing this can help me.
When I play stock voicemails on my phone the volume is VERY low. Anyone else having this issue?
I am running UnNamed ROM on my E4GT. VM version is T.5.2.0.24
Was running Sprint stock ROM before and had same issue (don't remember what version VM I had on that ROM)
Thanks!

Thanx for the reply... So i figured it out... One of the roms included the stock vm... Then titaniumed it... But i figured out how to get out of gvoice... first disable it on a desktop within google voice settings, then in the newest version of vvm under the help it tells you the dialer code for reprovisioning... Works now. Then i used boat browser w user agent set as desktop to create another gvoice number and have it only forward to my sprint number... So i just access the gvoice mail on the desktop version and it should ring to my phone... now i can have both with no cheap integration and no tacky white gvoice app!
as far as the vm volume... have you tried the volume rocker within vm app? or maybe audio manager from the market? ive never noticed it to be quiet... idunno...

Audio manager doesn't have any options for adjusting vm volume. Even when I put it on speaker it is just slightly louder than regular. Any other suggestions?

Deleted Gtalk -- Easiest fix?

I uninstalled Google Talk (accidentally) via Titanium Backup. Obviously a decent screw up as it kills a lot of services without it.
I tried searching for a posted apk, but no luck. Tried extracting it from the roms used in toasts root method, but failed.
I'm an idiot. Flame away, but help, please.

You're not an idiot because you made a mistake...you're not an idiot period.
I removed it too and I just downloaded damage control, unzipped it, went through the folders, and grabbed gtalkservice.apk out of it, pushed it to my phone and voila...buttt I attached it for you anyhow...
Cheers, mate. I'll give it a shot now.
EDIT: ooo, I love you. If you're ever in Gainesville, FL, I'll buy you a beer. Just PM me! hah
This could be a stupid question but humor me please. What is google talk for??? I've set it up to not activate automaticly but it does anyways killing my battery. Is it needed?
It's a messaging app, like instant messenger type. I don't know if you can actually delete the apk without problems occurring. I wouldn't imagine it eats too much of your battery though.
GTalk as system service
I feel the same as the original poster.....like an idiot.
I deleted the GTalk application as I was not using it and was trying to free up more space. However, I started receiving the "com.google.process.gapps" error soon thereafter.
In looking through forums and the internet, it appears that is a very common error with many causes. However, having the android sdk, it was suggested to use adb to get a bugreport.
In looking at my bugreport, I saw a lot of references to calls to the GTalk service. It is an underlying system service and it appears used by other apps as well. For example, I noticed that my GMail was not syncing consistently and I found myself manually refreshing to get it to sync.
I also noted that almost without fail, when I installed new apps in the Marketplace, I would see the "com.google.process.gapps" error.
My recommendation: Keep GTalk on your phone!
i did the same thing.
What does it mean to push a file to your phone? I dragged into onto my sd card and it still is giving me errors in the marker and constantly syncing...
Help!
This may sound really dumb but how do i go about installing the apk file? it tells me that im not allowed to cuz Google talk isnt referenced in the android market
Google services on your phone rely heavily on GTalk, as you guys are seeing. Even if you don't use it you need to keep it if you want to use pretty much any google apps such as the market, gmail, etc.
To install just put the apk on your sdcard, navigate to it using your favorite file explorer and click on it. Your phone has an installer that will recognize the apk as such and ask you if you want to install it.
Because RavenII was kind enough to post the apk you guys should be able to do all of this right from your phones.
*edit- I don't think it will be a problem but if you are not rooted you might get hung up on the install... wait a second.. if you're not rooted then you wouldn't have been able to remove it in the first place haha
I uninstalled Gtalk and everything is still working fine on my Evo no problems here.

This is a true statement. I am running DC 3.5.
My bad, I was navigating to the wrong file. Up and working now.
Is google voice important? I uninstalled that and I am having issues getting voicemail but I dont think its because of google voice. I was messing with voicemail the last few days and now I cant get it to work.

GVoice is awesome, I use it and love it so I'm curious why you got rid of it but NO, it is not critical to anything on your phone, you can get along just fine without it.
If you were using gvioce and now you are not then you need to be sure you've done the following:
-Dial *38 and hit send. The call will drop and your gvoice line will be disassociated with your phone
-Under menu>settings>call_settings>voicemail_service make sure it is set to "my carrier"
-Under menu>settings>call_settings>voicemail_settings make sure your Voicemail number is set to your cellphone number
That should get you up and running.
I will offer this: I don't know what caused you to decide not to use gvoice but I had tons of problems with my Sprint voicemail service interfering with gvoice. I called Sprint and had them actually remove voicemail service from my account. GVoice has been flawless since then.
Looks like a spoke too soon. Sync keeps getting stuck at the google contacts part, gives me an error saying "sync is currently experiencing problems. it will be back shortly."
Anybody know what gtalk (or any other critial programs) has to do with this?

lol, I almost posted that you must have some special setp because you would be the first.. but I didn't want to sound like an a-hole..
I don't know specifically what it is in gtalk that maintains google services, it's probably the program they use to maintain the google accounts database..
Correct me if im wrong, but I thought there was a thread that confirmed that in froyo Gtalk isn't really necessary in order for all the other Gapps to run correctly. I know for sure I don't have Gtalk installed and everything is working fine in my Evo.

How do I forward calls to my google voice number? My carrier is google voice and my voice mail number is my google voice number. If you call my phone number it doesnt forward to google voice voice mail. However if you call my google voice mail number and leave me a voice mail I get a Gvoice message. So its working so why not stick with it. I originaly didnt want to use it because i had to sign in and I didnt want it wasting battery lol.
Edit; Never mind I think i was expecting the wrong number to forward lol its working. I guess this means I will have to give everyone my google voice number now. I was kinda hoping I could forward my number to my google voice number. Or can I after typing this edit I confused my self great lol.
Off-topic.
I got fed up and reflashed DC3.5.

know issues with the latest builds. Best thing is to go back to a earlier version
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?t7205sjq5x0rqen
download that. its a link to 1.12.9. it is the last stable build i know of.
is there a way to actually change the default voicemail that gets dialed by holding the number 1 i dont want it calling *86
It's in Settings/Programs/Calls/Settings/Voice Mail Service
i really appreciate how nice everyone here is and eventually i will be able to ask questions. I have seen around the interwebs that 4g theoretically is possible now with miui roms does anyone know how to do this? Also what can I do to fix random reboots?
2.1.13_mod
2.1.13_mod works good, I've been running it for 24 hrs, only one small problem with MMS that was easily fixed. So far, I recommend it.
does the phone force close on incoming calls and get those android guys on the radial menus when you do times and dates
I havent had any FC's on anything.... yet, and I'm not sure what you mean by the "android guys"
on a previous release there were android guys that were making it illegible to be able to set the alarm. ok now i am just trying to comprehend how to get visual voicemail back on and working. i'm a little dyslexic at times so it could take a few minutes
Not seeing any Android guys on setting alarms.

[Q] Sprint VVM

I used to be a hater of Sense ROMS, but a few months ago I decided to go with MikG3.11 and am rather pleased with it. Very fluid once you set up V6 and other tweaks. I used to use Google Voice with my decks 1.3d setup, however, I lived in a rural area and used Google Voice mainly to text on wifi since I had no signal.
I have since moved and have service everywhere and want to try and use Sprints VM app, but Idk how to get the visual voicemail to work. Do I have to actually subscribe or is there a work around?
Bump? :XX
VVM in mikg works already.... You don't need to subscribe. What exactly is the problem?
When you receive a voicemail, just open the voicemail app, and click on it. It should open it and have a GUI instead of a dialer

Got it provisioned, moved to system/app and it downloads my VM's, but it still wont transcribe. Help?

The Voice-to-Text feature of VVM is a subscription service. You typically get a 30-day free trial prior to subscribing, but after that, yes, some fee gets charged to your Sprint bill.
I think that's what you're asking.
Ah, ok. So all the threads I've seen is to just get the app. There is no way to actually get VVM unless you subscribe then. Shame really, I enjoyed the feature on Google Voice, but since I now live in an area with service, I'm trying to break away from it because I never did really enjoy it. Unless somebody knows how to have it alert for JUST voicemails, and not texts, as I now use a different messenger app, would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

It handles Voicemails by default. That part is free.
that part I know, but I always liked being able to take a glance at it and get a basic idea of what the message was about.... but 2$ a month... it's not bad, but I already get charged a stupid fee of 5$ for a "spending limit" that they qualified me for of which I didn't ask

Sprint Visual Voice mail for CyanogenMod10

All,

you can hit thanks if you want but I did not make this... I just braved it and reported it. VVM is very important to me. Only reason to keep sprint.
enjoy
Wow, this is one of the main reasons why I stayed away from CM rom in the past. I can't live without VVM... can't stand wasting 20mins sifting thru audio voicemails with a pen and paper.
Will it update to the new version or are we stuck with the version that gets flashed? VVM just had an update in the past few weeks, i think i'm on the latest which is 5.3.0.32.
I had visual voice mail with cm10 by just making a titanium backup of it from a rom that had it, then restoring when I ran cm10.

You never had to. Google voice provides a better voicemail if you ask me. And to the folks that dont like the deep integration, you can break the tie-in and just use it for the voicemail.
But yeah... VVM is good too. I just have fewer issues with google voice.

No offense but, Google voice is crap IMO. Or at least it was crap a year ago. That's what I tried to use when I was on cm7 on the epic. I hated it. Vvm is well worth the 2$ a month to me. I run a business with this phone, it's gotta be reliable. Like I said it's been a year since I last tried it, but the impression it left was a disaster to my business for an entire week.

You should give Google Voice another try. Make sure you set it up from a PC.
I also run a busniess from my phone and the option for different contacts to hear a different voicemail greeting is worth the price of admission on its own.
I have my main voicemail greeting set up as my business name and then I have a different voicemail greetings for my personal contacts.
I can login to any PC and retrieve my voice mail, no phone needed. I'm not sure if Sprint VVM does that or not.
I honestly would not be able to run my business without Google Voice.

Wow guys... Ok heres the skinny. I did a TB but the backup was not there after CM10. IDK y im working on it.
#2 I tried installing .apk- didnt work, kept saying your acct cannot be verified. Thats because the supporting files are not in place in AOSP- this is the way it has been since AOSP, so idk what he's talking about.
# 3 yes it did update.
#4 Google voice is horrible- I have tried it multiple times I always get beeps in the middle of my calls and the transcriptions are terrible, best part of google voice is missed call notifications even when you didnt get the call.
Now This is a Sprint VVM thread please keep it that way and if you want to run your mouth about something else then go somewhere else. Also dont need info about other apps or whatever-
Contribute or just keep moving...
I wanted to thank ya'll for posting this. Great stuff.
Just some observations...
This is the second-to-latest Sprint Visual Voicemail application. It works well, is stable, and I love it on Paranoid Android 1.9.9
Just a note - if you're worried that upgrading to this will delete your current store of voice mail files, it will not. If all you're doing is *flashing* this on an already-rooted ROM using CMW 5.0+, you're going to be okay. I played around with it earlier today. No problems whatsoever, all stable, no SNAFUS. I don't know why some people have reported issues.
Hoppingfully yours,
--SLN
Does this give the weird text every time you get a voicemail like all the other CM's?
Cm flashers are always pushing Google voice, but I find it to be extremely inconvenient and complicated and the voice to text translations are horrible. VVM is the only way to fly in my opinion. I'm getting the 9016 text thing on freegs3 now, but it doesn't bother me. It's just another notification. I just delete the thread after a while. I've been flashing so much lately that the text notification actually caught a few messages while I was flashing.

This should be in themes and apps not development. Especially since you didn't make it. Plus there is already a thread on themes apps with I believe the same vvm.

Incorrect. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PEOPLE PLEASE USE THE SEARCH feature built into the xda forums. These text messages have been around since CM6, its how AOSP works. The only way to remove them is use chompsms, gosms, or something similar to block the 9016 text messages.
There is an APK in the Apps and Themes section here, install that, reboot to recovery, fix permissions, reboot phone, open vvm app, send 25 second message to [email protected] and it will provision and work. I have never had a single problem getting VVM to work since CM6 following these steps.

Not sure if it's a carrier thing or because I tried to set it up with Google voice but it only dials into voicemail and none are ever shown on the tab, even though I have a notification for vm
It's been so long since I've had Sprint. Did they move people from their old Sprint VVM app to GV? I've been using GV in place of it on whatever GSM carrier ever since I switched from the Sprint Hero. Works fine on my Pixel XL.

I did try this, you don't flash it from what I can tell, you simply copy it over. I don't have root so I simply installed it and it does launch, however, it can't register itself and can't update itself. Sorry for rezing an old topic but this is the only thread I've found where it isn't just straight *****ing about the issue instead of trying to fix it.
To get visual voicemail, it has to be through the carrier. Telus finally got it up here in Canada and I have been using it since launch
Use this
