My phone's screen 'died', no impact, just dark now. It appears functional otherwise (i'm assuming - it's in silent mode). Is it possible to back up to PC, from PC?
Apps, Contacts and all?
(I have searched, but no PC based results)
Or can I go to a store have it 'cloned' onto a new 3G Slide.

As above, screen has had a crack across for 4 months, today i rolled onto it and finally shattered the lcd itself.
I would use the spb spftware on the phone, but i cant see anything on screen etc...
how can i backup and PREFEREABLY READ TEXTS via a windows PC.
PS Sorry for not spending a few hours searching and trying, but I have to sort it tonight before the swapout tomorrow, and time is really against me, just need a bit of support
If you can still connect via usb and active sync use my mobiler.
in case it helps at all for anyone else. spb backup now has a windows installed component that allows you to make full backups from your desktop pc by installing onto the mobile. Has seemingly worked well
Hello,
My Touch Pro 2 went from functioning fine one moment - to having a dead touch screen. The phone itself isn't dead and I can use the hardware buttons and keyboard to be able to use it.
I've not yet tried a hard reset. I would like to know how I can back up my phone. I can still connect via usb (but I don't get the usual screen that lets me choose between Active Sync, connecting as a drive, or tethering) so I can get my file off of the phone, but I'd like to be able to do something similar to "ghosting" my phone (preserving all of the apps I've installed) if that's possible.
I know there are replacement digitizers that are relatively cheap, but I'd rather not go that route as I've insurance on the phone and should be able to get a replacement. (But if Asurion no longer sends out replacement TP2s I might reconsider that - can anyone say whether or not Asurion still sends out replacement TP2s?)
If worst comes to worst I'll copy over the data that I can, note all of the apps I've installed, and then do a hard reset to see if that fixes things. If it doesn't then it's either off to replacement land or considering replacing the digitizer.
Thanks in advance!
I just had my TP2 replaced.. TWICE from T-Mobile/Assurion. So I know they have them in stock as of last week.
(twice because the first replacement's space bar was funky..)
I replaced the original one because of a few issues, but one was the screen stopped working. (I REALLY had to bang on the screen to get it to sense, but I found the stylus worked marginally better).
You should be able to use the TAB and Arrow Keys to navigate Windows without using the touch screen.
Have you installed Microsoft MyPhone? I love it.. saves everything (except installed apps). When I got my new phone, I logged in, it downloaded all my data from MyPhone and *poof* all my contacts, pictures, and text messages were there.
I also recommend using myphone. Also, if you have apps installed, make sure make note of them. Some of them may be installed on your microSD, some on your main memory. Ones in main memory has to be manually installed later.
Try using PIMBackup. First copy it to your phone's SD Card, then run it.
The app is very to use with the QWERTY keyboard of TP2!
You can find PIMBackup 2.8 right here on xda-developers!

I dropped my phone and it is now completely unusable because the screen is damaged and does not respond. In fact when I turn it on it tells me the screen is unusable for touch input.
I do remember that I at one point in time went into the LG backup settings and configured it to automatically make backups and, if memory serves, I set it to keep 2 or 3 older backups.
Is there an online website where I can go view what backups are available and possible download / access my messages and photos?
Password?

I want to add that I don't recall registering a user name and password for the LG online backup service, so I don't know how this would work. On my previous phones (Samsung) I did have to register a password for their online service.
The only things that are backed up online (to your google account) are app data, wifi passwords and preferences.
No cloud backup available in LG Backup. Backups are stored either in the device or in the sd card.
USB OTG cable and an external mouse
I just found a way to control my phone by plugging in a USB OTG cable and a normal external mouse. Using this I can unlock the phone and control it as per normal, so I can backup what I want and check my existing settings.
About my question above: Evidently the default included LG backup doesn't do Cloud based backups. There are however numerous backup programs that does, including "LG Backup Plus" which appears to not be a default app on this phone, at least it is not on the Vodaphone derivative that we get in South Africa.
So my gf broker her phone, comes on and you can see parts of the screen but can't operate it, therefore I can't unlock it turn on developer and the usb debugging, what the hell do I do?
Replace the screen.
In the future get a .5tb sd card (about $75 for V30 rated Lexar) and use it as your data drive.
Backup DCIM to it frequently. Keep all critical data here and back it up as needed to the PC.
Make copies of your loaded apps and updates here with ApkExport.
I can do a full reload and restore with little or no internet connection; completely self contained.
I set up all my PCs this way too. Adding a data drive to my Dell E6400 today via a slide in caddy.
