anyone have any issues with syncing the on board social app with facebook contacts? it just wont sync for me. the calender dos sync but not contacts. keeps saying social sync is down, try later.. the market facebook app pulled my contacts but i dont like it that way.. anyone else?
You're not the only one. I've been trying along with twitter, I can't even add the accounts after a master reset

What i mainly want is the facebook pic to show up for certain contacts in my phone. When i sync facebook, it starts syncing all contacts from facebook into my phone and putting them into my phonebook which i don't want.
Is there a way to just choose specific contacts in my phone and sync only those to facebook rather than FB syncing every single contact?
I haven't seen anything that will let you select a group of contacts to sync, but there is an option in the app "Sync with existing contacts: Sync data only about friends already in Contacts."

I guess you already have facebook set up. Should just be a matter if following this menu path:

More
Calendars
Tick facebook
Then you might have to wait for it to sync.

Yes I have the normal facebook setup (not the HTC sense one).
I don't see the option to add the facebook calendar to my calendar.
Is something missing ?
Ok I just did a quick test and you need to set up facebook for htc sense to get it to work. The standard facebook syncs contacts only.

I would actually like to know the opposite. How do I remove all the facebook birthdays etc from the calendar?
I have turned off facebook sync, google calendar sync, and have cleared all the calendar data and cache. But every time I restart the phone they just appear again. I have no idea how to get them permanently, can anyone give me some advice?
You can import facebook events into google calender. After that you will see them in your phone calender, as well as on the web google calender. Follow this guide http://www.insidefacebook.com/2009/02/15/how-to-sync-facebook-events-with-google-calendar/

Menu-> more-> calendars, then deselect facebook.

i just installed the new GingerVillain on my Desire.
But for some reason the sync of Contacts with Facebook doesnt work. It's enabled in the account settings as well as in the facebook app but my contacts dont get the pictures they have on facebook..
any idea how to solve this?
Once your phone syncs with facebook, it will never update your phone side contacts with any new facebook Contacts
Does anyone know how to fix this?
The only way I know of is to delete the sync and start over again. but it takes so long to join all the contacts.

Mine all synced up yesterday before I got into my car after leaving the T-Mobile store! Stupid question but are you sure the sync settings on your phone are all set up? I had them not work in the past on my HD2 but then later they would...
it wont sync contacts or messages itll sync the calender..everything else is syncing properly even the actual facebook app just not the social hub app.
Same here! No go for FB for Social Hub Contacts or Messages, Cal is OK though..
Regular FB syncs Contacts fine though.... what gives?
