Hey everyone,
I'm expecting an error with my mobile data connection (2G / 3G).
When I’m at home i use wifi all day long (6 PM – 8 AM).
Every morning i try to turn off Wifi and turn on mobile data but nothing happens.
Only if i reboot my phone mobile data connection will enable.
Is anyone having the same issue??
Phone:
HTC Desire Z
Rooted, S-Off
ROM:
Bulletproof MIUI 1.9.16 - 1.10.7
Cyanogen Nightly 168(And some other versions).
Mobile network operator: Base DE
Hi,
whenever I get home my phone also is on wi-fi until I leave the next day and occasionally I get the same problem, though to be fair it's very rare. (currently on Bulletproof MIUI 1.10.6; carrier is O2 Germany)
No clue why it happens, but whenever it does happen I just switch to airplane mode and back, this always fixes it and is a little faster than having to reboot.
Thanks.
Next time i get the error (tomorrow) I try to turn airplanemode on and off
EDIT:
Airplanemode on and off did not work for me, a "Hot Reboot" is required.
After a complete wipe and a new SIM-Card its finally working again

Hi guys, after installing the latest radio on my Hero I get the feeling that my mobile internet connection (both HSDPA, 3G and 2G) seem to be dropping more often than before. I haven't monitored this prior to upgrades so I can't say for sure. But is anybody having the same experience?
Also is it possible to downgrade the radio? Do you just reinstall the old radio?
Thanks.
yes i have the same issue. my mobile internet and also the gps stops to work after a while of not using the phone. i have to restart the phone to get gps back to work.
mobile internet can also be reactivated by activating and deactivating the "only 2g networks" option.
this failure sucks because i just recognize that the mobile internet is down because i didn't get push mails for a while.
I have noticed that as well
Yep me too. I can be browsing (web, market, or rss) for a while, then lose connection for a bit, then it will suddenly work again.
Can we reflash the old radio?
No need. It could be the APN settings. I was having problems on T-Mobile with HSDPA dropping and read in another post to go to the T-Mobile support page for the G2 and select Connecting to the Internet --> Set up the phone for internet surfing --> and follow the instuctions to set up a new APN. Worked for me
I have the same problem.
I have installed the new Hero ROM two weeks ago, one week ago mobile internet disappeared from my phone. Before this it was very good.
I can't find the good solution for this issue. Please help.
Same radio ROM. But there were internet for a week with this ROM.
I don't understand.
(I have tried to reflash the ROM, but not solved.)
Same problem here.
Mobile network has been unstable since I bought it.
When I turn it off for a while and turn it on again, I can't see the icon on the top bar. What I have to do is going to Settings - Wireless controls - Mobile network settings - Network operators - Select automatically.
Sometimes the connection is lost while using. I have to do the same thing like above to make it work again.
I also contacted HTC's customer service, but I haven't got any response.
Too bad!
I find if I leave it then it comes back. Every so often it goes...then the firmware eventually notices and it reconnects. Annoying. Hopefully this will be fixed when T-Mobile release thier version of the ROM update later this week.
I have the same issue, but it seems like it only happens when I leave a wirelss-zone (and not every time I do that either).
When I leave home, it will maybe 1 of 3 times not connect to 3G before I manually connect again (Settings - Wireless controls - Mobile network settings - Network operators - Select automatically)
I've just used AnyCut to create a shortcut to this menu-option so it is less annoying, but a more permanent and official fix would be great.
same thing in my one thats why i hate htc from now one loots of bugs in hero headphones led net go back to htc hd how you can release phone if is not done properly

TheBrit's settings appear to have resolved the issue. have been logged into instant messenger for more than an hour without the connection dropping off give it a go guys.

Guys, if u have the dropping connection concern, as I did, please follow tmobile link in previous posts or a one for your mobile provide apn settings, I've just done it and have had no dropped connections for ages
i was also having the same issue but since installing the modoco 2.6 enhanced rom with the radio ending in 07.08 all has been good.
dropping connection
Hi,
I have a g2 Touch from T-Mobile germany.

I've stumbled on a strange issue.
If I switch the Desire to the Airplan mode when the Data connection is off (I use the appropriate HTC Data connection widget to do this), when I switch back to Airplan mode off, the phone is no more able to restore the data connection.
The only workaround found is to restart the phone.
Has anyone got the same experience?
Two questions.
1. When you say you switched off data connection, are you talking about syncing, wifi, mobile network, ... etc?
2. Why do you want to switch off data connection and turn on Airplane Mode? Doesn't Airplane Mode cater for shutting down all wireless?
1. I'm talking only about the "Data connection" option on "Wireless and networks" menu, that is switchable via a special HTC widget. Switching this option off, the phone is no more able to access to the GPRS provider. I often keep this option off to save battery life. I turn Data connection on, if I need to sync and access to Internet.
2. This is not the matter, just it happens. Eg. When I go to sleep, I turn the Airplane mode on, doesn't matter if the Data connection is on or off (it is possible that it is on) in order to avoid any disturbs (calls, sms, etc.).
I just wonder if this issue is a true bug of the phone:
1. Switch off Data connection
2. Switch on Airplane mode
3. Switch off Airlplane mode
4. Try to activate Data connection (for me it seems it's not possible without a reboot)
Had a similar problem which I wrote to HTC about: after the phone has been data connected via wifi and I leave the wifi network it often will not connect to data via mobile network (GPRS/3G), giving the message "connection failed" if I try to manually connect in the "mobile networks" section of the "wireless & networks" settings page.
It seems to have fixed itself now, and I think it's because I've since ticked the option to "enable always-on mobile data", which I had turned off to save battery. Give it a try.

Thanks yurikg, but on my phone the "enable always-on mobile data" option is checked, anche there is no mobile network connection problem coming back from a Wifi connection.
The problem I shown is probably caused coming back from Airplane mode.
The other possibility is Juicedefender which apparently is known to cause problems recovering a mobile data connection (recent update may have fixed this):

I've not juicedefender on my Desire...
I've in plan to do some other tests...
I have a problem with my Desire reconnecting to a mobile data connection too, but not when I come out of 'plane mode, its when I leave a Wifi covered area. It could be the same problem, triggered by anything that disables and then reactivates the data connection?
I have no solution yet, and I have contacted HTC support about it (still no reply). There is some discussion here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=656192
I seem to be having this problem too when coming off WiFi connection, unfortunately restarting the phone has not righted the issue...
I'm also having this problem with the connections. Fine on the wifi at work and at home but not switching over to the mobile network. Apart from that the phone seems awesome! Soooooo much better and more fun than the HD2.
OK, my phone appears to have no network connection whatsoever in fact...
Have the same problem as well. Coming from Wifi and to mobile network only - I do not get any data coverage. This is for the Desire and I had the same problem with Legend.
I hope this will be worked out ASAP.
Well, my problems all sorted. Turns out I had to manually input the APN for internet, took me by surprise since no phone I've owned since 2006 has needed that...
Just had to put in the settings manually too. Seems there is an issue with some of them. Would put a link here but as i'm a newbie not allowed Just google vodafone apn settings for htc desire and hey presto
Same problem here, my Hero had it too. I found it did work when you switch to gsm only and back to 3g/gsm... Would love to hear good solutions.
Im also having the same problem.
If i try switching my connection from wifi to mobile data, my mobile data connection fails to work. A power cycle fixes the issue but if i try switching connections again, the problem returns.
Can I suggest to anyone still having problems getting their phone to switch to mobile data when leaving Wifi to view the following bug report on Google Code and to star it to help raise the priority with Google:

Hey,
1) I have a Problem with wifi/data connection on my Desire (Redux - Gingerbread Rom).
I thought it happens if i have disabled wifi and data connection for about a day but i found this tread, which seems to be a better reason (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840735)
Bug when moving off WIFI on to Mobile Data
Hi,
I've noticed atleast 4 times that my phone doesn't connect to a mobile network from data when away from a WIFI connection.
So when I'm at home, the phone is connected using WIFI and all works fine. When I leave home, the phone should be connected via a mobile network (i have Settings>Wireless & Networks>Mobile Network set), but it doesnt seem to connect when I try and use the browser. If I restart the phone or unset then set "Mobile Network", then the phone seems to pick up the mobile data connection and function normally.
Has anyone else seen this?
Cheers,
Ash

Is there a known sololution to solve this problem? (Instead of disabling wifi when leaving home)

2) My second problem happens when i answer a call. The first second after I answered it, the opposite person doesn´t understand what i´m saying. I have to answer a call with either waiting 1 second to talk or I have to say "Hello?!" so long someone answers ^^
Is this problem known and is there a solution?
Greets
Your second problem is a known one, problem by google. May be fixed in further Gb releases ...
Or switch to Oxygen Rom, its nearly cured by AdamG + his team ...
Ah thanks for the answer,i think that i´ll give Oxygen a try
To my first problem: a wifi-app (WiFi-Manager), that scans the wifi networks on its own, is able to connect to a Wifi-network - even if the Desire isn´t able to connect on its own.
The problem with the data-connection didn´t happen again since the last 2 days after i postet it ... strange!
First on is about mobile data toggling.
I'm having problem when turning on the HSDPA connection.
I was using CM9 with kernel 3 from xda developers forum (unofficial CM mod) and found it slow and couple of problems with it, including Mobile data toggling problem and switched to 7.2 back. Before the install, I used superwipeg2+ext4 and I deleted all the caches with CWMR afterward, then installed the CM7.2 stable. Everything runs fine except the 3G toggling. It sometimes doesn't turn on. I changed the following CyanogenMod settings->Interface>Notification Power Widget>Widget buttons an added the mobile data on/off to my swipe widget menu. What is interesting is that when I enable the mobile data from widget, it doesn't generally turn on and when I check the Settings>Wireless->Mobile I see data mobile data was not turned on there even though widget shows it is enabled. If I even turn on from Mobile Data menu in settings, 3G doesn't turn on and I have to toggle between 2G/3G to turn on the 3G mobile data. I had the exact same problem with CM9.1.0 unofficial mod with 3.0 kernel. I have changed radio to stock .26 to 26.13.04.19_M with both ROMS, still have the same problem.
Addition: Tried latest nightly, it is the same. I though it was about network preferences. I tried every mode; GSM/WCDMA auto, WCDMA preferred, WCDMA or GSM only and at first I though some of the mods fixed the problem but they were not, It worked because it resets the cellular connectivity when chosen. The 3G toggling appears to be working completely randomly. That is the issue in a nutshell.
Second problem and about GPS & navigation.
Even though I turn the gps on, there is no indicator on the top bar that it is on. Also in Car Home mode, Navigation is not working. Nothing with Voice command also works, including voice search even though I flashed Gapps 20110828 with (Google Talk with Video Chat Add-On).
Awaiting for answers. Thank you !
Hello,
yesterday when testing and setting up the OP3 I noticed that, after booting up, the WiFi didn't connect automatically.
I always had to go into WiFi settings, click on my WiFi and select "Connect". From then on, it worked normally.
(Had to boot really often, so it was clear that it was not a "sometimes" incident.)
Does anyone else have this?
I've had problems connecting to WiFi it keeps coming up can't authenticate connection also had LTE issues so I had to enter the wap details myself and that's OK but on the WiFi I've put a ticket in with one plus and waiting for reply..

With OxygenOS 3.1.3, now I don't have the WiFi problem anymore...
I have the issue where i completely loose data, there is no LTE or H. Flipping airplane mode on and off seems to fix the issue?
