Need working video chat GTalk for CM7.1.0 RC1 please! - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm running an Evo 4G and have found a few files that I have tried flashing from Recovery and the end result is I have incoming video & audio along with my PIP video as it should and the person I'm talking to has audio but no video. I'm running CM 7.1.0 RC1 (NOT the final release CM7.1 that is now out) and while I realize I can flash the official CM7.1 and have it I'm stuck not being able to flash another ROM for the time being and want to get the video working. Does anyone have a known working (as in video chat) GTalk for CM 7.1.0 that I can flash? I also found an app in the Market called 'Talk 1.3 Installer' which supposedly allows you to load different versions but the reviews aren't real good so I have my doubts.
Does anyone have a link to a working version I can download or does anyone have first hand experience with that app from the Market for rooted phones and can tell me if it worked or not and if so what option did you select?
Thanks for the help!

Wrong section but in the new cm7 stable thread I saw a gapps specifically for video chat. I can't tell of this is exactly what you're looking for because the thread is a little confusing. Let me know if that fixes the problem

I already saw your thread before starting this one and it doesn't have my answer. If you're talking about the newly released CM7.1 I would have to flash a new ROM to use that and, like I said, I'm not looking to flash a new ROM at this time. If I was I would just flash the newly released CM7.1 and be done because I already know it works first hand as I tested it on another Evo 4G. I thought I explained pretty clearly what I was looking for in the OP so I'm not sure how it's confusing.

I'm not even sure what thread you're talking about unless it's your thread because I didn't see a separate Talk file in there. If you're talking about another thread a link would have been helpful to know which thread you were talking about. I'm going to try XsMagical's link so no need now.

Like I said... I have NO idea where this thread you speak of is so a link would have been helpful. Never mind. If this doesn't work I'll look harder for it when I'm on a PC because it didn't come up in any of my searches. I appreciate you offering some help but when I help people I usually post links directly to what I'm talking about to save time.

Update: I installed the app I was talking about in the OP since I wasn't getting solid answers (prior to XsMagical's post) and ran it and was just able to test it and it worked fine for me. Seems others had problems so I'm not sure that will be the solution for everyone but for me it seemed to work as advertised. If that didn't work or if I have issues come up I will be sure to flash the file that XsMagical linked to a few posts back. If that happens I will also post back my findings with that but I'm not going to try it now since I appear to have a working solution at this time and don't feel like tempting fate. Just wanted to return to this thread in case someone else has the same issue and finds this in a search. So many of the threads I found in searches went unresolved so I like to post back findings when I have success in case it can help anyone else.
Thanks for those that offered help and the rest can go fornicate themselves.

He did offer a link. And the gapps files are in the thread. Look threw it. You'll find them.

The link he posted isn't to the thread he's talking about. It's to a different thread that he created that is attached to all of his posts. I already have the solution now so it's not important.

Like I said already several times: I'M NOT RUNNING THE FINAL CM7.1 ROM. I thought I made it pretty clear that I'm running 7.1.0 RC which isn't the same thing. I tried files already made for the CM7.1 you speak of and it didn't work. Hence my post here.
If you're not willing to read what people post and offer solutions the why post? I hate when people skim and then chastise when they assume the poster is asking the same old question. Real helpful.

You never said specifically what files you flashed.
And the cm7 thread is very easily found in the section that you wrongly posted in.
I just hate people like you.

Has anyone tried the CyanogenMod for the EVO?

I was thinking about installing this mod. I saw it running very smoothly on an HD2 dual-boot a friend of mine has.
Is there anyone running the latest version of this image? If so are there any hardware issues? Does the 4G still work? Does it make coffee now?
Thanks,
Nick

Thanks Laydros,
My friend just told me that his HD2 just went to sleep and he had to reboot so it is surely not stable yet on the HD2. I would still be willing to try it on my EVO if anyone else has tried it first.
The UI looks pretty nice with a draggable menu at the bottom for multiple home row buttons.

i think what you have to do is flash a 2.2 rom, and while its installing, yank the battery. this will take you to the froyo debug screen and ask if you want to flash a cyanogen mod.

This could very well make you a stupid person.
Read! Have you even looked at any posts at all here? Or did you just post your question and only focus on it? Seriously man, you are getting bashed here sooooo bad. Take ten seconds and look at other posts, either here in q and a or in the development section. Just trying to save you some pain.

Don't advise me to search unless you know for sure that I missed something. Your guessing there is a better thread and calling me stupid for not finding it.
Again, has anyone successfully gotten this mod on their EVO? If there is another thread talking about Cyanogen Mod 6 on EVO then direct me.
Dude, there's a thread in development dedicated to the RC with thousands of replies. I think we can all safely say that at least one other person has tried it. The water is safe. Hop in, but don't forget your life jacket. I'm sure you'll need it.
And before you complain that we're not helpful... no, the 4G doesn't work. Your mms may not work either.

[Q] How to port ROM from another device to DInc?

Sorry if this question is in the wrong section or has already been asked. Seeing as it has to do with development I thought this section would be appropriate, and I couldn't find anything else really helping on this subject.
What I am wondering is does anyone have or know where a good guide on how to port a ROM from one device to another is? I have done some AOSP work in the past, so I'm not COMPLETELY new to ROM building, but I have had no success yet with porting anything.

he's talking about the IncredibleDoes AOSP flashpatch. Replaces files in AOSP builds to Inc ones.
I think IncredibleDoes was working on some sort of thing that made porting easier. I did a quick search but didn't find it, but it is around. Either way, he was definitely our most active dev in terms of porting. Best way to find him is on twitter @IncredibleDoes.

If I was going to learn how to port, after learning how to use the kitchen, I would look at some roms that are already ported and see how they did it.
First and most recent one that comes to mind is preludedrew's gingerbread rom.
Might even want to pm him about it as he is pretty active.

To correct this, Evervolv is not a 'port'. It is specifically built for the Droid Incredible platform. Exactly like CyanogenMod, which without them/that mod, Evervolv wouldn't have been possible. Sorry just wanted to clear that up =P

In my personal opinion, I hate this, I rather talk to all my flashers than have to go to another thread to talk to them. In my opinion, this is just what I believe. I was just making sure no devs get mad c: that's all.
Before you flash, make sure you download the rotation fix and have it ready to flash after the rom. Or just turn off auto rotation.

No, i believe it has to do with the script support needed to flash CM9, which often possesses a larger kernel than stock images.
Just wanted to say thanks to the guys who are working on this. Just got my GSII a few days ago and was dismayed to find there were no good touchwiz free options for me, and then just in time this cm9 port went up.
I can't use my camera for now, and I'm afraid to turn off my gps, but it's a small price to pay for you guys all putting so much work in to exactly the rom that I wanted. I'll be sticking with this rom and donating to keep development going. Thanks guys.

Someone posted a work-a-round in the Dev section of CM9 about this. Someone else confirmed it worked for them. They said when in non-touch CWR to unmount then remount the cache partition. Then flash the SuperWipe script, then flash the ROM. They created an issue for it here: http://code.google.com/p/hercskycm/issues/detail?id=20 I would head over to the DEV section and read what they posted about it before doing it though.
I think that's the route I'm going to take since I'm still a little unsure about using 'touch' just yet.

Which touch version are you using? I'm about ready to make the leap. I've just become so familiar with the standard recovery. I'm leaning towards the version you pay a couple bucks for through ROM Manager. Even though I've never used ROM Manager for anything. But I've heard it's okay to upgrade or flash your recovery through ROM Manager though?

Why? He just updates his rom more commonly (all 800mb+) and breaks things a lot and steals others hard work without asking, or giving credit to them. (Allegedly), with proof, of course. I say use Frosty or Evil with the available themes in the themes and apps section. Xquizits roms always seemed okay... but too many broken things caused by pointless updates that are way too huge and should only require a seperate flashable 20mb zip.

Yes I agree, I have been with his ROM since I stopped using MIUI and yesterday I was lossed when I saw the message stating that I was closed. I am hoping everything works out for him as well
There's a deference in using someones work and saying thanks to them, or giving credit, and stealing there work without asking and claiming it to be your own. Pretty much being a thief... If people were to donate to him cause of his rom that is wrongfully going to the person. EvilArt created hidden code and such in his work and he posted that XquiziT was using it in his roms and not giving credit. Other's have mentioned this as well about his roms. It's sad and sucks and I hope there was just some confusion, but evidence is evidence.
Another one gone because of freaking drama...

Yes I used the word "Wicked" in my Rom but nothing else. Wanam's 15 toggle code is where that word
came from a compare I did when my mod was fc'ing. I have done all my own mods why would I use Wicked's and the SystemUI.apk at that. Nothing special about that file and prob 85% or more of the S3 Roms are the same mods and would compare except the word "Wicked" that yes I included.
Anyway I will keep doing Roms for myself but will no longer be a part of XDA. Not because of XDA, because of what goes on there.
Thanks for all who supported me but as I have said before I take no donations as this is my fun and learning experience.
Thanks!

Well that sucks. I like Wild's ROMs and he may have took others work, but hell....the same code floats around from DEV to DEV anyway.
SN: Wicked ROM is actually pretty nice. I tried it once it was proven that Wild was stealing code from Evil. I think Wicked ROM needs inverted apps though. They make the ROMs like so much more classier!
Anyway, thanks Wild for all of your work and efforts. You put a lot of time into updating your ROMs and I'm sad to see you go bro.

[RESOLVED]Petition to get task650 back

We all know and love task, a very giving individual who was mistreated in the threads and very underminded by one particular individual, personally I miss task, I would love to have him back over on the T-Mobile threads, without all the Greif surrounding his departure, so I ask you all, help me get back one of the most beloved and badass developers of the galaxy threads

Just flash his I9505 ROMs.
I've seen the way he handles his threads, while he does not have to share his work.. he could be nicer about it, and if he sees a useless post, instead of replying to it, he could report it. It goes both ways, to be honest.
I actually saw his ROM and didn't flash it simply because I saw the way he handled the thread.
PS: I have the utmost respect for all devs, they do things for free because they enjoy it and love sharing. So more power to him and I appreciate the work he and any other dev does. I'm not bashing him, just saying it wasn't only the member's fault. It goes both ways.

He builds for at&t not i9505. While some don't like the way he runs his threads, I can kind of see where the guy is coming from when people post completely irrelevant things in his threads. Although he could be a bit nicer about things or simply ignore them, it must be frustrating having to sift through all of the off topic stuff to find comments related to development. I never got to flash his roms, but after looking at the at&t thread it would definitely be nice to see him bring builds to our device...lol

Ah, that's where I saw it! My apologies for the confusion.
And yeah, I mean the more ROMs we have here, the better. I was just throwing my thoughts out. A lot of people are just asking questions.. while they may have already been answered, if people are going to put the effort into replying, might as well reply with something helpful like a link to the original answer or something. I mean, that's what I'd do. But like I said, I don't mean to start a war or anything, its his ROMs, his threads, etc.
PS: I say this to anyone who says "its already been answered" or "search" etc.. if you have enough time to post that, then simply help the guy out. We've all been noobs and we know what its like to be scared sh**less because we think we broke something.
Why doesn't some one just run a thread for him? That way he has nothing to deal with. Post his op, maintain the OP, but have say the op of this thread maintain it?
I know plenty of Devs that do that. Illusion rom by mikeramsey for instance. All the dude wants is to build a badass rom. He'll officially support a device but he doesn't run the thread. Metropcs s3 is a perfect example. He official supports it and puts out official builds for it, but the thread at AF is 100% official, the builds are 100% by Mike, but he's not the op nor participates in it nor maintains it.

This sounds like a great idea. If someone responsible were to step up to the plate and PM him about the idea maybe we can get some task back on our device!!

Did you remove the updater script build prop asserts and flash a T-Mobile kernel? I think that should work...
Good luck guys. In my opinion he runs a one man show and he can have a little attitude if he wants to. I have seen too many people who don't know what they are doing and jump to wrong conclusions... this one guy said that tasks rom bricked his device and he was demanding money or something.... outrageous.
I have been silent for too long... Been following XDA forums for three years. Its about time I speak up and support the devs

It most likely will, bud.
Just make sure to flash a T-Mobile kernel after. (Before rebooting)
Honestly you can run his att rom on tmobile, just flash a working kernel for tmobile.
I dont mind maintaining the thread. I run my thread the way i run it can check out my minions thread to see how i dwell in it.
End of the day it is all up to task, while I may have different opinion on how he run his thread but it is still a good rom. I believe every developer run their threads based on experience...so I am 100% sure task have a reason for how he run his threads and something had occur in his past that allows him to justify what he does. I always say if you dont like how an op run their threads, do not bother posting in it. If you cannot get anyone to help you with troubles, do not bother flashing it...it is that simple. And if you are going to post in the thread you SHOULD know what kind of response you will get from task base on your question and if you foreesee it to be something that will piss you off...just dont post. Just as he can ignore 90% of the useless craps he chooses to reply to the users can also not post 90% of the useless craps they choose to post. XDA is about learning, not babysitting.

You do if he specified what devices can flash it, but it's really easy to edit.
Edit: I can confirm it is in his updater script: assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "jflteatt" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "jflteatt");
